I had been here on average 3 or 4 times a year for a few years. Pre Covid it had new owners and I liked some of the changes I saw. I did not dine out for quite some time but I had seen some decent crowds here and decided to try it again. I've been twice in the past month, both times eating outside. The area is nice and the food itself is pretty good but the service is what had me wondering. I think I got cold chowder once because our server was detained? or busy socializing? I had the feeling the kitchen did their best and my food sat. I also saw my most recent time (this past Thursday) there that we were treated nice, seated.. but then someone that was known to the staff came in just after us. They were visited more often and attended to more than we were. Their experience was definitely different from mine and that shouldn't be the case. All patrons should be treated the same. I will give this place another chance, but they could have the best location, the best food, but the service has to be there too and it has to be the same for all. read more

This place is the rugged mountaineering cousin of the Tipsy Seagull - more refined and endearing. I had the pleasure of attending a soft open after a remodel where we were greeted with some of the better chicken wings (miso sweet chili) I've had in some time. Great flavor, great prep and solid meat on the bone. The ski lodge ambiance isn't overt, which makes it more charm than cheese and the updates since last year really open up the ground level. Much more accessible and they added a few more televisions in some key locations. Great location with easy parking and polite staff. read more

A taller female approached to state that coasters might help but the "tables are custom made and floors are unleveled". (I thought...seriously...our drinks are going to spill!) What an adorable restaurant. I absolutely loved the ambience. I was less impressed with the food. My chicken breast was over cooked. I was also very frightened watching patrons trying to restart the fire by squirting lighter fluid right on to the flames. I was afraid someone was going to go up in flames. I work in a law firm and thought to myself this place has lawsuit written all over it if they continue to let patrons tend the fire. Great place to go for drinks and appetizers. The only reason this visit is getting two stars because our waitress, Paige was nice. The food sucked! My husband and I only went because two other couples wanted to go here. He and I had clam chowder, the Portuguese steak that wasn't cooked the correct temperature. His rice was cold. The steak didn't even look appetizing. He asked for extra sauce and there wasn't any on it or brought to him. The chowder was tasty. My lobster mac n cheese was awful. It wasn't cheesy at all. The pasta was basically in this watery sauce. To me a mac n cheese should be thick and this wasn't even cheesy. The espresso martini wasn't good either, but I should've sent it back and asked for more baileys. So that's my fault. We're writing our experience overall, so I'm going to add that they had a gentleman playing his guitar. It was a Saturday night so expect it to be very loud. If you're looking for a decent environment don't come here. You aren't in comfortable tables or booths. The downstairs is crowded, and we were at a high top table. We searched for an interesting place to eat on a chilly, damp Thursday evening on our stay over in Fall River. Thanks to Yelp we found this tucked away near the river. There is a beautiful patio outside between the parking lot and building, with seating, water feature and clear and blue/purple lights. This night was a fundraiser for children's charities in the area where 15% of the food bill went to that. Bonus. Inside, we could've sat at the bar or high tops, my husband likes regular tables, so we were directed upstairs. There is also fireplace seating. On the 2nd level, it's a U shape with the middle open looking down on the bar area with fireplace, the ceiling is A framed and it's cabin rustic, with beams and an antler chandelier. It took a while for our server to come, he was up and down the stairs with another table of 4's orders. He was very nice when he came to us and directed us to the complimentary meatballs downstairs, marinara and sweet chili. They were both very good sauces and the meatballs were light with a slightly crunchy outside, perfect. We ordered beers which were ice cold. Live music started downstairs, a guy with a guitar, really good and not too loud. My husband's food was good, although after a week on vacation writing this I don't remember what it was. My medium well burger, however, was seared on the outside, but raw on the inside, like a previous reviewer's experience. I tried to eat it around the edges but it was really too raw inside to eat much more. The server, I forget his name, took notice of the uneaten burger and spoke to his manager. They took it off the bill without asking. First class management. We over tipped the server, accordingly. Next year on our journey from PA to Ptown, if we stop in Fall River again (3rd year doing it so the probability is high), we will be back, maybe to the Tipsy Seagull if the weather is better. Haven't been here in years. I was not a fan after visiting a couple of times. Stopped in on Friday night. The place was packed, but we were able to grab a couple of sits at the bar. They did have live entertainment. There has been some renovations since our last visit. The biggest change I noticed was the bar has been relocated. Despite the full bar the service was attentive. We had the pepperoni pizza and New England pot roast. The pizza was full of pepperoni and cheese and for 10 bucks very reasonable. My companion loved the pot roast. After reading all the bad reviews I am not sure if we just hit a good night. Overall we can't complain about the service or the food. Let me first start of by saying that I didn't even get to the point of eating or having a drink here. My wife and I have attempted to eat here about 3 times, but the wait being 2 hours+ the first two time we went turned us away. We decided to wait on the third try, since it was only about 15 minutes, according to the hostess. Hostess told us the wait would be 15 minutes. After 45 minutes, I inquired and she said "soon". At this point, several times the what seemed to be the owner or at least the GM walked by and greeted me multiple times, knowing that I have waited a very long time, but he seemed to be having too good of a time to care. After another 15 minutes of waiting, the hostess found us and said "Sorry, I was wrong about the wait, its going to be another hour." It was a good thing it was my wife's birthday which gave us an excuse to go out and blow 90 bucks on dinner. Our first impressions were promising. There were no reservations necessary, for a Wednesday night at 6pm. It wasn't very busy, except for maybe 6 or 7 people at the bar and 4 other tables dining while we were there. The outside didn't look like much, but it was remodeled from an old linen factory, so what did you expect? The hostess greeted us as soon as we walked in with a warm smile, and we were seated right away. Before we sat at the table, the hostess dumped into a bowl a mix of small and assorted chips, pretzels and crackers, which were stale, tasteless and pretty inedible. All the wait staff wore uniforms comprised of black pants, white button up shirts with black vests. The service was a bit on the slow side seeing that there was only one waitress working at the time. She came over for drink orders to start us off, so we ordered a couple glasses of wine. At this point I took the opportunity to take a look around for cleanliness. The sanitation conditions were pretty good. Next our wine had arrived and we were ready to order our appetizers. The menu selections were pretty upscale for Fall River, but also a breath of fresh air. If I had to eat another Portuguese meal I was going to lose it. The menu was adequate and very descriptive. You knew exactly what you were getting when you ordered along with prices. The waitress didn't offer any suggestions, but being that we had allergy restrictions we had to tell her about she didn't really get a chance. She was prompt when it came to going to the kitchen to ask allergy questions for us. Our appetizers were out within five minuets of ordering. The 'Parmesan Truffle Fries' and 'Ale Battered Onion Rings' came out hot and delicious. There was no rhyme or reason with the plating, just kind of thrown onto the plate, but its fries. The Truffle oil was apparent and upfront giving them a very earthy tone, which went really well with the garlic aioli. The Onion rings were light and sweet. The ale wasn't upfront in the taste, but they were a good start. The appetizers portion sizes were pretty hefty, but for a 9 dollar plate of fries, they should be. After finishing our appetizers we ordered our meals: a mid-rare NY strip steak with béarnaise sauce, and Mac & Cheese with Grilled chicken and broccoli made with a house cheese sauce. We waited a good 20 minuets for our entrees to come out. When they did, our server handed us our food and walked away without making sure my steak was cooked right. I could tell just by looking at it, that my steak was over cooked. It wasn't over by a little, but was as well as well can get. I turned to get her attention from across the room and she just nods her head like she already knew why I was calling her over. She reaches for my plate as I start to explain that it's over cooked, and she says she'd have them fire another one for me. While waiting, our waitress (not a manager) came back and said we can have a free glass of wine for the mishap. Not once was there an apology for the problem, just a free glass of wine. Fifteen minuets go by and my food finally comes out cooked perfectly this time. Unfortunately it was on the same plate as the previous steak with the same old side dishes. Though the sides were cold, at this point I just wanted to eat. All the while my wife was eating her Mac & Cheese, which I did try, that was fantastic and the portion size was great. The chicken, broccoli and cheesy pasta was a perfect mix of flavors. My steak wasn't anything to write home about, until I put the béarnaise on it. This brought the flavor out of the dumps, making me forget that the mashed potatoes and grilled yams were tasteless and cold. The Mac & Cheese was defiantly worth the $14 we paid, but at $23 the steak was completely over priced. After dinner, we chose to take our chance on the house dessert, the 'Chocolate Sequoia'. It was orange liquor infused chocolate mousse surrounded by a chocolate bark, and topped with a gnash and gold dusted chocolate leaf. The dessert was amazing! The flavors were perfectly balanced. The orange liquor wasn't over powering in anyway, and the mousse was smooth and not too sweet. They defiantly saved the best for last, and for $8 how can you go wrong?!? After dessert we took what was left of our wine and went to sit in front of the fire place which had little cocktail tables. I can say that I was hesitant about this place after reading other reviews, however I thought I would like the concept of this place so we went. Food was good, I have only one small argument, and this is that I got the have it your way mac and cheese, and got it with jalapenos and asparagus. I thought the jalapenos would give it a little kick, but alas, there were no seeds, therefore no spice. My mother got a burger, and although cooked a little more than she had asked for, she really liked it. I loved the ski lodge atmosphere, but we both agreed that like a true ski lodge we would have liked it to be a little warmer! Portion size for my mac and cheese was a little small, but I am a small person so that's ok, and the burger was a decent size. One last thing: It DID take a while for our food to come out, so they definitely need to work on that, because I would hate to see what it's like on a busy night! The decor is gorgeous, perfect place to grab a drink & app and sit by the fire (they have a real working fireplace which really adds to the cozy atmosphere). "General Mgmt." offered a sophomoric explanation placing the blame on the server, alas.. it was her team that failed. Interaction with "General Mgmt" was adversarial at best. First visit...Was a little nervous of some bad reviews. We had lunch at the bar....It was great. Service was fantastic. We had the Stuffies first....Maybe the best I can ever remember....It was moist, flavorful and packed with clams....Not too much spice like many are.
