I've given this place more than enough chances, and each visit has been a disappointment. I first brought my S2000 in for an alignment, and they forgot to tighten the suspension arms after the alignment a dangerous and unacceptable mistake that could've caused serious damage or even an accident. I brought the car back so they could fix it, and while they did realign it, the manager had a terrible attitude the entire time as if it was somehow my fault they didn't do their job right the first time. The regional manager contacted me after I had initially left a 1 star for the ridiculous mistake and begged me to remove the review. He was very apologetic, kind and told me if I ever needed anything again to contact him. I thought I'd give the shop another chance when my BMW needed an alignment. (Big mistake) I brought my BMW in after calling ahead to confirm that it qualified for their Groupon alignment deal. They told me over the phone that it would be no problem and to bring it in. But when I arrived, they suddenly refused to work on it, claiming "some of these cars have extra covers under the suspension that need to be removed," which makes absolutely no sense and anyone who has ever wrenched on a car would know that, that was also never mentioned during the call. Total waste of time. Between the unsafe work, rude customer service, and misleading information just to get people in the door, I will not be coming back, this review is also here to stay. We were towing a 18ft trailer with our F150 truck to pick up our group's tents, furnature and other gear from the Escondido Rneaissance Fair, when about 1/2 an hour into the 1 1/2 trip the truck started shaking. Pulled over and immediately realized the tread had cracked to the steal belting on the front right and that the other three were not far behind. The Tire Center was our 7th call, and the first one with live answer that didn't immediately put us on hold. We asked if he could take us today and he cheerfully asked for the tire size to verify he had it in stock. We pulled up 15 min later and they were ready for us. Nelson and Robert were our technicians and both were friendly and knowledgeable. We were also happily surprised at how affordable it was! Balancing and alignment too, and free wheel inspection. This is IMHO one of the best places to take your car. These guys really know how to take care of your cars. My self, Hubby, and my son have been "Happy Campers" with all the repairs etc that Empire done. They will actually tell you what needs to be done "right now" and what can wait for a little bit. One time my Altima had work done and was parked in the appropriate area. Another car hit my car and attempted to do a hit and run. The Empire guys stopped this guy from taking off and got the needed documentation for the insurance company. As a lady who knows a little about cars, when I go to a new repair shop I often feel like they are billing me for their family's next vacation. I drive a Fiat and called around looking for places willing to check it out. I called 3 other places, one place quoted $800 and hadn't even seen my car. When I called Empire I was relieved to hear Bob on the other end of the phone. He said it sounded like an easy fix (blown fuse) and I was astonished. Taken aback. My VW Tiguan decided to have its engine coils (novice description!) die one by one...which meant I got them replaced one by one while the team patiently figured out what was wrong with it (over a series of 4 visits). The team was so nice and patient throughout the process and were much less than the dealership quoted. Overall, I think I was out ~$600 for the 4 coils and they were always prompt in getting my car back to me. Hopefully I wont have to see them for a while, but if I do, the staff are all very friendly and knowledgeable. read more

Giving these guys 5 stars even though I didn't technically get serviced by them, but one of the mechanics helped me troubleshoot the issue I was having with my headlights (driver side not turning on, but highbeam working). I had purchased a replacement bulb but my existing bulb didn't seemed burned out, so I held off changing it out. I also checked the fuse under the hood which seemed to be fine as well (I had a person at O'Reilly Auto Parts check it out to confirm). The mechanic suggested I try changing the bulb anyway to save money on having to have them do a diagnostic on my car which would have costed about $57 or something. He thought it might just be a faulty bulb. So I ended up swapping the old bulb with the new one and it ended up working! Again, I really appreciate the help and the advice to save money. Even though they didn't make any money off of me, I wanted to repay the favor with this review and how great their service was, even though I wasn't a customer. read more

Worst service I received at an auto shop in my life. I work at AAA corporate nearby, stopped by for a quote. Just wanted to know if rear rotors on my co-workers vehicle can be cut aka resurface. It took the main guy, aka "Smiley Face" as his workers call him, 30min even pay attention to me on a slow business day. Finally get's to me and starts asking and entering vehicle plates, vin, etc...as slow as you can imagine. Asked him what for, no reply. I just need to know if brakes rotors can be resurface or not, quick look. I got so frustrated with the slow service and lack customer appreciation I told "Smiley Face" never mind. Took the car down the street and cut a deal to drop off car on Monday morning. Wasted 45min of my life at this shop lol Smh stay away. There was a coupon for 26.75 + 8.25 certificate for a total of $35 on most cars, so I called ahead to verify the pricing. There were some parking spaces and designated lanes/stations for the type of service requested. Check in at the counter first to process paperwork, and then wait at the outdoor seating area (patio furniture) or relax in indoor waiting area (3-4 chairs). With the friendly and courteous staff, the whole process was a breeze, less than 15 minutes from checking in to completion of the job. Been coming here for repairs for years. My dad tracked them down based on reviews once when he was down south visiting, and I think ever since, every car in the family has been here at least once. We are all proactive about getting things taken care of, car-wise, in our family. I have never had an incorrect diagnosis from them. I have had repairs that have hit me hard in the wallet, but taking good care of a good car is worth it in the end. And we've never had bad work here. I love that I can ask for explanations of what the problem is, or the work getting done, and they always are happy to explain it to me. They are really low-key and friendly. I usually call ahead before I bring the car in to see if they are busy, and so often they just say "well, bring it in!" If it's urgent or your are worried about something, they make time. The only times I haven't used them is when I was visiting home up north, where we have a semi-retired "Honda guy", and a few occasions where it was time for a simple oil/filter change, but I only had time to go down the street from my place (where there is a good little tune up shop, but it's not a full repair place). Empire has taken good care of us and all our beloved Hondas and Acuras and Toyotas and I highly recommend them! read more

Awesome customer service!!!! Honest and friendly mechanics I've meet in my life. I brought my 2015 Lexus GS that had an awful noise. Everyone though I might need new brakes as well as I thought so too. Ones they inspected my car, mechanic said my brakes where still in good shape no need for new ones. Good news but we still needed to figure out what was making all that noise. Turns out it was just a rock stuck in the plate. Since nothing was really changed the owner didn't even charge me for labor. Now in days no one is willing to help and I very happy they did. This establishment is honest and ethical. I've been coming here for car repairs big and small, smog checks and oil changes for close to 21 years when I first moved to California. I grew up in a small town in Minnesota where you know everyone and you know who you can trust by just knowing their reputation around town. Empire reminds me of home. These guys are so nice, helpful and trustworthy. They always give me the best price too! I just drop by sometimes to have fuses checked or like this weekend cause my power port stopped working on Sunday. The weekend mgr took a quick look and found a piece from my charger that had broken off in it and took it out and it worked. He took about 2 minutes to fix and sent me on my way- free of charge! Later that day, I noticed liquid leaking from my car and went back over and they diagnosed that water pump needed replacing, gave me a quote and Bob the weekday Mgr had the guys fix it right away today, for $200 less than everyone else I called and even waived the diagnostic fee since they were doing the work on it! On top of that, my brake lights had burnt out so they fixed that in 5 minutes and wouldn't let me pay for only a few minutes work! I tipped the mechanic and swore I would share my awesome experience with everyone I could! These guys are first rate and really care that they do a good job and make everyone feel taken care of! In this day and age it's hard to know who you can trust. After 21 years they have never let me down. A lot of places take advantage of people who don't know a lot about cars, but these guys have real integrity! I highly recommend to anyone who needs it! read more

I literally found a Gem of mechanics with fair if not unbeatable prices. I bought the starter for a Honda CRV and paid literally only a little over $100 for the labor after being quoted $300 plus from another mechanic. Bob helped me out with the quote over the phone and very professional and helpful in person. The Honda was done in 30 minutes or less, done so fast I couldn't even finish the food I bought thinking it would be a couple hrs.
