The metal cap on top of our chimney tore loose during a monsoon. It was way up high over our second story and there was no way I could safely get to it. I called them on Friday, they said they could do the work on Monday and it would cost $450 to replace and clean the chimney. They showed up on time and were able to use my current cap by just re-fastening it. They also said no cleaning needed, so the price was only $75. Superb deal, very ethical workmanship. read more

I had a dove stuck in my chimney for a couple of days. I had tried everything to free the little bird but to no avail. I made a call to Top Hatter and they responded that day. The team called just before their arrival, as promised, and came equipped to despatch the creature. They prepared the area and advised me of the potential challenges. After several attempts they were successful. They returned the fireplace to original condition and cleaned up around the area. They were courteous and polite. We actually found Top Hatter by accident; called a different company recommended by a colleague, and they were booked solid for the week so recommended the guys at Top Hatter. What a happy accident! The crew of 3 guys was on time and extremely professional. I was impressed with the care they took removing the vents and covering nearby surfaces with plastic, then scrubbing the vents and meticulously replacing them, then cleaning up...but what took it to the next level was when they went to do the dryer vent. We had the vents/ducts cleaned because we just replaced our washer and dryer, but the new set had not arrived yet when Top Hatter came. One of the guys pulled the (old) dryer out and showed me that the hose had literal holes and rips in it. It was OLD! He left a brand new hose and bracket for the new set, because he told me there was a good chance the installation guys would just assume we had them in good shape. He also showed me where/how he could tell the dryer had some previous work done. We immediately noticed the air in the house felt crisp and colder. Shoukd have had this done ages ago! We had a team come on 3-31-21 to perform the cleaning of our air duct system and the clean our clothes dryer vent. We selected this company based on the excellent Yelp reviews. I solicited pricing from four other companies . For each company I asked specifically what exactly are you going to do. It was apparent that Top Hatter was going to do a more extensive job (ie do more physical things) to get the job done. I am not sure that all the "extra work" would give me a better end result, but I liked the extra work. One example is that they would remove all the air registers, take them outside and wash them all. This was not offered by anyone else. The crew arrived exactly at the time promised, with text messages sent prior to their arrival providing status of their ETA. We have a 2800 sq ft, single story home. The crew of 3 workers performed the job in a bit over 2 hours. Before starting the job, I confirmed the scope of work activities that formed the basis of their selection. It was as quoted to me on the phone, including the price. The work was done efficiently with careful efforts to keep our house from getting dirty. We were totally satisfied with the job. The Top Hatter price was almost double that of the three other bids but we were okay with that. The work crew wore masks without being asked. read more

My dryer gave me a handy notification that the flow sensor needed to be cleaned (aka the dryer vents). I looked to Yelp to find a reputable company to come out that wouldn't break the pocket book. I spoke to Brandon on the phone and he was quick with a quote, and was eager for a job. When we found out I was out of the service area he gave me two recommendations on who may be available in my area. I wanted to still leave a review despite not getting service from this company, because Brandon was incredibly professional and eager to help me in any way, even after finding out I wouldn't be a client. That being said, if I ever move closer to the city I know who I will be calling to help with any vent issues. read more

Thanks to Yelp I found Top Hatter and called them about my air conditioning vents. I spoke with the owner who was patient and articulate. He honored the Yelp deal advertised and an appointment was made. I couldn't be happier with the results. He sent a team of professionals to my condo and in less than two hours they scrubbed my vents, took before and after photos and changed my filter. I was particularly impressed with the team's friendliness and competence. They took care to remove my vents and replace them well, clean the grills and remove the dirty materials with care and a conscientiousness I hadn't seen in here where I'd had dozens of contractors in and out before. When they say that they want to treat your home like it's their own, it's not just lip service, they actually mean and do exactly that. Vent cleaning is pricy no matter who you call. Top Hatter was the most competitive price-wise despite the meticulous scrubbing work they do (and not all vent cleaners scrub). I would not hesitate to use them again but luckily I won't have to call them again anytime soon, because they said I shouldn't need vent cleaning again for another 5 to 10 years. I used Top Hatter to clean our air ducts and our dryer vent earlier this week. I was very happy with the service they provided. They communicated very well before, during, and after the service. Also, during the cleaning, both my wife and I were working from home and some of our young kids were home with our nanny that day, so the crew had to work around all of us. e.g. "Can you clean the vent in my office now before my next meeting starts?" I'm completing the construction of a new home. I had the Top Hatter come out to clean all of my HVAC system to remove all of the construction dust/debris. They were fantastic. Their lead time was only a few days. They came when they said they would came. They had a larger crew of 3 or 4 people compared to others who offered a crew of 2. They finished in a very timely fashion, were very organized, removed all of my vent/return covers, replaced all of them, damaged no paint, and cleaned up spotless. Mike, the crew leader was great. I also forgot to have them clean a duct/return in an attic area, called them up. and they came right back a couple days later to do it. We just had Top Hatter clean our ductwork. I've had a few different homes that I've had the ducts cleaned and this was by far the most detailed. They removed and hand cleaned all of the vents and swabbed each duct by hand. The other companies I've used have a massive vacuum and try so suck out all of the ducts.
