We were in the area for a yelp event and decided to stop in. We assumed it was going to be packed but it actually wasn't! We were seated right away, we got Brussel sprouts and a salad and chicken sandwich. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place is beautiful and not too loud.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Food was okay, would come back but not go out of my way
I came here with some friends to enjoy Violet's pop-up bar! Parking is easy to find: there's street parking, or you can park inside Union Station. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It was decorated beautifully for Valentine's Day.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Service was exceptional, with all employees friendly and helpful. I ordered the Strawberry Short King, and yum! It tasted just like a strawberry milkshake and the garnishes were a cute addition. I also ordered the chicken sandwich and this is not something I would order again. The chicken was juicy and tender, but the balsamic glaze was overpowering. In my opinion, this would fit better as a salad option rather than a sandwich. However, the waffle fries were good! I will come again to visit the future pop-up bars, but I likely will not come here again for a casual meal.
A couple of gal pals and I came here tonight for some fun drinks and bites. The train shed is a bar/restaurant inside of the Union station. They have been known for their holiday pop up bar. This time around was their pop up called "violets" which was pretty floral arrangements all throughout the establishment. Our server David was very prompt and all of their wait staff would walk by other tables to make sure things were in order. They weren't playing around. We didn't have a wait, but we do advise to have someone from your party wait there earlier just in case. If you park in the lot connected to the Union station, the train shed can validate your parking tickets. Okay let's get down and dirty with the food and drinks. My first cocktail was prettier in person which had good mix of dark to light rum, ginger beer, açaí berry liquor and other mixes. To eat I ordered their country fried steak, comes with garlic mashed potatoes, and candied carrots ( huge carrot slices) more like halves. The mashed potatoes were my fave . I also started off with fried Mac n cheese. It comes with camp fire sauce for dipping. Those weren't too bad. Someone else ordered the pretzel balls with cheese, so yummy! To end the night I had the daily grinder martini. Nice little night cap. The menu prices are a little steep for my liking. It ranges from $14-30ish on certain items. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's great for dates and large groups![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restrooms are located out in the Union station next to the aquarium. Vs it being located within the restaurant.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Come out and give the shed a try! it's worth going once!
This was my first time at the Train shed's Christmas pop-up bar and it was well worth the wait!! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The first thing I noticed was, of course, they're beautifully ornate and elegant interior. They definitely nailed it on their Christmas decorations, because I was seriously impressed![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I went with a friend on a Friday even and they were packed full and the wait time was about 45 minutes in the evening, but we found out from the barista that that the front tables where our first come first served and we didn't need a reservation for it, So me and my friend kept an eye out on the table and were able to get a good table before our reservation even started. [[HIGHLIGHT]]But the only thing about the smaller tables is that it's only four drinks and appetizers, not for the main meals.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The Christmas drinks were amazing and very festive! The nachos that I ordered were okay but not the greatest, the toppings were good but the nachos itself were a bit too greasy for my liking.
What a festively decorated place for Christmas. We went here last weekend and the wait was about two hours. This place does not take reservations. The decorations were super pretty. The nachos and sandwiches were decent.
The ambiance during CHRISTMAS alone is a reason to visit. The Brussel sprouts were good, the service good, and I enjoyed the drinks. Don't look to get drunk or tipsy, but it's a cute experience.
"The Sleigh Shed" - a Christmas holiday pop-up. Incredibly decorated and upon entering immediately filled my heart with all the holiday magic. Greeted by a very friendly host that seated us by the window so we could take in the whole restaurant as well as the outdoor decorations. I ordered the Home Style Dinner and was not disappointed. It was delicious and reminded me of Christmas dinner at my grandma's. It came with two big slices of juicy ham, fluffy and flavorful mashed potatoes, a fresh baked roll and perfectly cooked green beans. Oh - and our server - she was so sweet and filled with joy! This is a great place for an afternoon lunch with friends, a fun date night spot or just a fun place to grab a drink between holiday shopping spots. This should be a must visit restaurant every Christmas!!
We really enjoyed the holiday decorations, very festive and nice to look at during lunch. Beautiful Christmas display throughout restaurant. The food was good but the cocktails were the hit. We enjoyed a cocktail with tequila and midori. It was Amazing!! So cute with an ornament with the midori in it called Freeze Navidad. It was so good I am going to try to recreate at home for the holidays. The appetizers were wings and nachos. Both tasty, a note for the nachos was the ratio of toppings was not through out the nachos. We did ask for a side of cheese and they did accommodate us. The dishes ordered were smash burgers, salmon and bratwurst burger. Everyone enjoyed their lunch and we ordered beignets for desserts. Fairly priced, drinks, appetizers and cocktails including shared dessert was about $215. There were out of Pasta Primavera which I would return to try along with my new favorite cocktail.
We checked out the Train Shed after a visit to the Polar Express train since we were hungry. We usually do the Soda Fountain but tried somewhere new and I'm glad we did. The ambiance and decorations were the highlight for sure. It is seasonally decked out as the Sleigh Shed and looks like a holiday pop-up! We had to wait a short amount of time before we were sat. The food was a little pricey and pretty good (but not something to write home to). My kids each ordered a kids chicken strips meal with fries, I ordered pretzel bites and beer cheese, while my husband ordered a turkey club with fries. It all was a little spicy - the fries, the chicken strips, the pretzel sauce which wasn't as great for my kids. My husband said his sandwich was good. The pretzels were okay - a little too spicy and they are kind of like a donut/pretzel instead of straight pretzel. The service was pretty good. We had to wait awhile for our pretzel bites and got them much later, after the rest of my family got their entrees (they were supposed to come out first) and my husband was halfway through his meal. They have a fun seasonal drink and dessert menu. I love that they have some fun alcohol free drink options as well. Worth a visit for the ambiance and vibes during holiday season for sure!
I guess I only come here for their pop-ups. This time it was Violet's for Valentine's Day. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The decorations weren't as good as they were for Christmas[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]], but the service was better. My cocktail was delicious and the appetizers we shared were tasty. It was an enjoyable time for us.
A great little themed place! It is incredibly busy so expect the wait. The drinks are very well done and the food is exactly that comfort bar food (American) that you would expect to a place connected to a venue. I opted for the flatbread (amazing) but watched the others get a salad and the chicken fingers (I laughed at that person for you!) But, I have to admit they were really good chicken fingers!

I spent the afternoon at Union Station and decided to get dinner there too before heading back to my hotel. I really liked the ambiance of the Train Shed. It had the sports vibe at the bar, the family vibe at the tables, and the date vibe at the booths. My server, Tanisha, was so nice and so attentive. I ordered a toasted ravioli starter, because everyone kept telling me I needed to try the toasted ravioli in St. Louis, and the turkey club sandwich. The toasted ravioli was well toasted with a flavorful marinara sauce. Even as the dish cooled, the ravioli kept their crunch. I wanted a little more salt in the filling, but together with the marinara, it worked out, flavor wise. The sandwich was also a good pick for me. I was surprised that the bread wasn't toasted, though. Pretty much any club sandwich I have ever had came with a toasted bread, so it may have been my bad for assuming it would be served that way, but if I ever went back, I would ask for the bed to be toasted. I think it would add to the texture of the sammie. My favorite part of the sandwich, though, was the combination of the lemon aioli on the bottom and the avocado on the top. What a palate pleaser! And it was served with seasoned waffle fries. Can't go wrong with that! I also made the rookie mistake of walking out of my hotel without my wallet. After a moment of panic, I remembered that I have Apple Pay set up and asked Tanisha if I could use that. No problem, she said, and was able to charge me that way. Crisis averted, and it turned out not even to be a crisis. I'm glad I finished my afternoon here.

Went to the Sleigh Shed again this year. It never disappoints. I had a really good grilled chicken sandwich and my friend had a flatbread. I drank a First Frost and it looked beautiful. It was really good but the star of our meal was the Peanut Butter and Jolly. That was the best!! The toasted marshmallow was a great touch. This place was so festive. I went last year and it was really nice but this time it seemed darker inside and that really made the decorations pop. read more

One of my favorite restaurants. And not just during the holiday pop up, Sleigh Shed, or the valentines pop up, Violets. We eat at the Train Shed whenever we are at Union Station. The food is consistently good and so are the cocktails. The service is always great too. Since they do not take reservations, sometimes it is tricky to get in without a wait. I found that going early on the weekday is best. Went here last night for dinner. Located by the lake section of the St. Louis Union Hotel. It has a long bar, an even longer table in the dining room, some booths and regular tables. Our server, Katelyn, was friendly, My husband ordered a double Captain and diet, and I had a white wine spritzer. We ordered several appetizers; too many in fact lol. I had to try the toasted ravioli, a St. Louis creation, made with beef. I generally don't order fried food, so this was an unfortunate meh to me, but I wanted to try it. The other items were fantastic. The crispy Brussel sprouts with pretzel crumble and Memphis sauce were incredible: light and crispy. The pretzels were several small bites with a delicious cheese dipping sauce. Finally, we got the Marguerite pizza flatbread, which was also tasty but the crust was too thick to truly be a flatbread. We were both beyond stuffed, but no dessert. I did want to try the gooey butter cake with raspberry sauce but deferring to our next visit. read more

Came to check out the pop up for Christmas sleigh shedd and the vibes are amazing. The rest was lackluster. Not a lot of seating tables are very close together and was an hour or 1.5 hour wait at 4pm on a Saturday. We had 5 so we just went to the bar areas cause it is seat yourself. Everything was 4 tops and there was people with empty seats on both sides, they said we could use a chair but the restaurant wouldn't let us move the seat around to face our table even though it was literally so close we wouldn't have had to do anything but twist it the other way, so instead one of us had to stand the whole time it was fine, we made it work and could understand if it was because they needed to walk in between but the table were so close they couldn't even do that. Just seemed a little silly when it had nothing to do with flow. We ordered the pretzel bites & hummus plate. Not a lot of hummus, hummus was smothered in oil and there was like very little pita breads and the rest was just veggies. The pretzel bites were good but the cheese was not flavorful. 16 dollar cocktails as well. The decorations were cool but now that I've been I don't have any reason to go back besides for the Christmas vibes. read more

I came here to experience their pop up Sleigh Shed and it was absolutely mesmerizing with the decor. It was very busy and I had about a 90 minute wait for table but I found a comfy place at the bar and mellowed right in. This kind of crowd usually chases me away but I became comfortable very quickly. I ordered 2 appetizers and 3 drinks. The first being Guava Holly Jolly which care in a cute decorative glass topped with a sour candy. It was nicely tart which is how I prefer my drinks and very well balanced with the tequila. It held a nice bite and the sour salty candy helped with the contrast. Next was my favorite of the evening First Frost which was vodka based. I want you to consider stepping out in to the cold wintery ait and breathing in the air before snow falls. It chills the nose and just smells like snow is on the way. This is what your taste buds will experience, nice and crisp. Last, I had the walnut which is remiscent of an old fashioned with mulled spice and hit all those notes appropriately. I ordered the toasted ravioli and stuffed tots which were both equally elaborate. Those stuffed tots won the night for me! The train shed, or now known as the sleigh shed, has become a magical holiday experience. We really enjoyed the holiday cocktail menu and the amazing holiday decor around the restaurant. There was so many photo op moments and everything comes picture perfect. For being busier, the drinks didn't take too much time and our food came perfectly hot with nothing missing. If you're looking for a fun holiday pop up, this one is worth it. They do not take reservations, so if you're not wanting a long wait you'd want to go during non peak times avoiding weekends or blues games, etc. read more

Stopped in for 2pm lunch on a Saturday without a reservation but were seated immediately. Pros: -Food was good. We had the smashburger and chicken sandwich. Both came with waffle fries. -Beautifully decorated for Christmas -Convenient location if staying in the Union Station hotel or in the complex Cons: -Seemed understaffed so wait times for everything were long (10 mins for non alcoholic drinks, 30 mins for 2 sandwiches) -Loud Unless I was in the Union Station complex and didn't have any other dining options, I wouldn't return due to wait times. read more
went with a small group on a tuesday evening no wait at all! i would definitely recommend since the weekends are so busy. HOWEVER parking was insane. the lots wanted to charge $45 for parking, so we definitely drove around to try to find street parking. this could be because there was blues game not sure though. i ordered the santa's red eye fix.. very good but i will say it was overpriced for the amount that was served. i do think train shed turning into sleigh shed is a cute idea however much like everything at union station i think it's a bit overpriced. as far as christmas pop ups go i don't think i would consider this one a must do read more
Second year in a row at the Train Shed after it transformed into the holiday Sleigh Shed! I love how beautiful the space looks, it feels so festive. On to the food - it was good! The stuffed tater tots were my favorite by far. My friends really enjoyed their orders as well. Drinks were also delicious! Not pictured was the cocktail with the cookie crumble on top - so good! The servers were kind and helped us find a bathroom cause apparently there's not one in there and late at night the whole building kinda shuts down. read more

My mom and I went for Christmas and love it! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Beautiful decor, great service + the theme drinks were fabulous.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We split a few apps and enjoyed everything! We got the toasted ravs, deviled eggs and dessert. The hardest part is getting in since it is so popular during the holidays. This was our third attempt! read more

The crispy brussel sprouts and stuffed tots appetizers are not pictured because they were consumed so quickly by the tables. Everyone LOVED the stuff tots. They were large tots filled with bacon, cheddar, green onion & a white cheese sauce. Delicious! For the Christmas season, The Train Shed at Union Station goes all out for a holiday pop up. They rename the restaurant "The Sleigh Shed" and add a few items to the menu like the Holiday Dinner (pictured). They also add a holiday cocktail menu. Everyone really enjoyed their drinks and dinner. We tried some more adventurous items and some more traditional. Other than the tots, our table really liked the roasted chicken, the country fried steak, and the potato sides. Also not pictured was the non alcoholic "Santagria" - it smelled so strongly and we joked that it tasted like Christmas. I loved the look of the restaurant. The decor was incredible. We had a fabulous waitress. She literally wrote NOTHING down the whole night and we ordered special drinks, appetizers, mains & dessert. She got everything perfectly correct. She didn't miss a beat. I was so amazed. You have to get here during the holiday season! It was such a fun experience. read more
This is a great option if you are in the area. It is really cool how they kept with the theme of the Union Depot. Inside is spacious and it was clean. We got a table pretty quick and the service was good. The food was good, nothing crazy, just good. We had a couple of kids with us and they were in heaven. This is a ketchup lover's delight. So, you're in a hotel inside a train station and there's tornado watch outside, where do you go but to the train shed. I had smash burger and waffle fries last night after driving down. So today it's pouring rain with a tornado watch. I came back for dinner, this time a house salad and roasted chicken with brussel sprouts. This is a casual place but it has a great wait staff. I had a small wait because I wanted a table, but I could have gone to the bar and had a seat right away. Less than 5 minutes later I had a table placed my order and my meal was on the table. Way overpriced for a what you get. The decor is lovely, and that IS what you are paying for. We purchased 4 meals and a dessert and none of them were good. HOWEVER, the hot chocolate with and without alcohol is very good. I suggest you for the holiday drinks and decor. read more
2nd year going to the Sleigh Shed Christmas pop-up. Last year we walked in, got on the list and then went to the hotel bar to enjoy a drink. This year we got on the waitlist via Yelp about 1 hour before we thought we'd arrive. We planned to eat after the Mizzou, Illinois Braggin' Right game so we knew it would be hard to get a table without getting on the waitlist early. The food was good and the drinks are fun! We had a bit of an issue with the sun beaming in blinding us. We were there around 4pm as the sun was setting...The shades were eventually let down. I prefer our experience last year. The table was better and we went at night so the Christmas lights and decor really popped. Overall we do recommend the pop up but planning to get on the waitlist early is a must. read more
Came here for the last day of the Violet's pop up and we made sure to come a little early in the evening. It was still a 30 min wait. The restaurant was decked out in flowers and it was beautiful! We immediately knew what we wanted to drink and ordered the ooh-bae martini. It didn't come out pretty like their photos but it was still good. We ordered stuffed tots, nachos, Cobb salad, and the brat burger. Nothing to write home about. The waitress asked us if we needed boxes while I was in the middle of eating.. and brought us the bill shortly after. Didn't ask if we wanted dessert or another drink. Will probably return just for the cute pop ups for Christmas and Valentine's. read more
The Train Shed has a modern and stylish atmosphere and is a great place to dine if you're going to the St. Louis Aquarium or before a Blues game. The menu has a great selection of elevated bar food with generous portions. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. Highly recommend the Turkey Club if you're super hungry, it's ginormous! read more

The pop up Sleigh Shed is a Christmas magic space! We came here for lunch and we were in awe of the decorations and sheer enormity of the finishing touches! The menu was themed drinks and deserts along with the traditional service. We had a lovely time! The service was attentive without being smothering. Went here with a large group before the P!nk concert. Although they do not take reservations we did not have to wait too long. An appetizer was spilled on my friend on accident and they made it right. Thankfully she had a spare shirt in her car! My food was delicious, huge portion. Excited to see the vegan cheese available. The ambience is so cool with the fire/light show out the window. Fun and memorable experience. read more

We went early to the Train Shed and had a nice booth. Be prepared to wait as it's first come first serve. They do put a 2 hour limit on your table. The ambience and decor is crazy for Christmas!! Great place to get some holiday drinks and eats and snap some fun pics. Nice menu. Healthy and the other good stuff! The nachos were spicy ! I loved them but my group did not like the heat. I really like their dinner menu options but my table stuck to fried Mac and cheese, nachos, spin dip and stuffed tots. All what I expected and fast service. I had the Christmas version of an espresso martini. So good!! With crumbled cookies on top. Everyone enjoyed the atmosphere and service. We ended the night out by the fire pit. Fun place. Loud but full of Christmas spirit!! It's a try once for a fun night out. Blues game was happening so then it was crazy busy. FYI parking lots around only take credit card and no cash. Something to think about if you're not a regular card carrying person. I highly recommend you dress festive to add to the Christmas spirit!! I came for the Christmas pop-up and was so impressed! The decorations were breathtaking and festive for the holiday season. The restaurant was very crowded, but we were seated right away. Our server was super friendly and attentive, despite having her hands full with several other tables. We noticed that all of the other tables around us were receiving their food much faster than us. After about an hour of waiting for the food, our server let us know that they had accidentally lost our order. We honestly didn't mind the wait because of the decorative ambience, friendly staff, and delicious drinks. Nevertheless, the manager finally brought our food out and offered us a free dessert or a discount on our bill. After finishing our meal, we were so full that we decided to take the reduced bill. To our surprise, they took a very generous amount off our final total. Totally not necessary, but I was very impressed at their gesture to go above and beyond! The food and drinks were absolutely fantastic. They had lots of both alcoholic and nonalcoholic seasonal drinks to choose from. Their spiked hot chocolate, made with Ghirardelli chocolate, was heavenly! I also highly recommend the macaroni and cheese. It's a huge portion and great quality. This is a great spot for family night, date night, or a night out with the girls! read more
A weekend in St Louis led us to holiday adventures and the "Sleigh" Shed holiday transformation of the Train Shed...how jolly and festive! Popped in for a couple of festive cocktails before heading up to our room in the Hilton Union Station Hotel. If you are getting food, you may have to wait a bit, but the bar area and high tops are open seating/standing. There are specialty drinks and a festive menu for the Christmas season! We tried "First Frost" which is a refreshing vodka drink and "Gimlet got Run Over by a Reindeer" which is a tasty gin martini. Staff were nice and personable. Service was good. This was a Great Christmas Pop Up Bar!!! The Decor was very Festive and we loved it!!! This was also my mom's first time ever to something like this!!! I think we will make it a tradition We went early on a Thursday and there was still a 30 minute wait, but we lucked out and sat at the Bar.... We only ordered drinks and a dessert so it was perfect!!! The Mocktail Tea was good and refreshing and the Red Eye Santa Sleigh was strong but good. (Loved the cookie crumble on top) The Gooey Butter cake with the Raspberry drizzle was yum! If you go you MUST go early!!!! read more
I enjoyed my experience here! Most pop up bars lack decor or have all the decorations in one spot but this one was in full Christmas spirit! There's a sled out front with gifts, the doorway was decorated AND full ceiling decor. Our wait time for a table of 4 was 20minutes which wasn't bad. Average wait time for a first come, first served seating arrangement. Our drinks and the food was GREAT. I can't remember all the names of the drinks but we ordered the margherita pizza, broccolini pizza, and buffalo wings. I only took a star off because I was not aware that the restaurant validated parking. As a paying guest, the host or server should mention something about parking. read more
This restaurant is an absolute must at Christmas! The decorations look like you're in the middle of a Hallmark movie. This year they did a little pop up for Valentine's Day as well. Decorations were sweet and made for great photo opportunities. The specialty drinks are very good. The food is nothing special and not that noteworthy. That being said it's a great place to pop into while you're at Union Station. read more
