This was some of the best food and best service I have ever experienced. My favorite thing that I tried was the ricotta gnocchi appetizer. I would have eaten that as my entree. I do not rate many things a 10/10 but that was at the top of my list as a ten. My entree was the mushroom "scallops". The actual mushrooms were great, but I didn't love the accompanying ingredients. I do think that it was just personal preference, the food itself was great quality. I did not feel like drinking, so I got the citrus refresher and that was better than any cocktail I could have gotten from anywhere else. If I lived closer I would love to come here regularly, especially to try some of the other items on their menu. read more

We booked for Saturday night just to get away and have a nice dinner without the kids before Christmas. We were surprised when we got there that they had a tasting menu available with about 8 courses. We are so glad we did it. Every single dish was incredibly flavorful am prepared perfectly. Beautiful ambience! We arrived 20 minutes early and had to wait the full 20 minutes before being seated. The room is elegant but not overstated. Perfectly placed for the location. Our waitress was lovely and her support staff was quite attentive. We ordered the scallop appetizer and some beverages. I would've given them five stars but they were out of many of the beverages that were on the list. They start you out with a beautiful amuse Bouche. Very well thought out and nicely delivered. Then out came our appetizer. Delicious and well-placed. The bread service was amazing and the butter was nicely marked with the letter S for Sundance. Our waitress did amazing job of describing each of the items in answering our questions. I wish I could remember her name but she had a Nordic accent. I have food came out at a nice cadence as we enjoyed the ambience. Everything was perfectly cooked and so delicious. I ordered the mushroom tempura dish. So delicious and so uniquely plated. The swipe of miso was the perfect accompaniment to this fried delight. The other two guess I was with ordered the pepper steak. And they both enjoyed it very much. Very disappointing New Year's Eve experience at The Tree Room. My boyfriend had told me so many good things about this restaurant and I had very high expectations...plus the whole happiness of visiting Sundance again...I was beyond excited to say bye to 2017 in such a wonderful location at a fancy restaurant that does not normally open on Sundays but they did an exception because was NYE. Well, I would give 5 stars for the service, Bret was great every time I complained that my soup was cold and that maybe that artichoke entree I ordered was too sophisticated, but in my opinion I should be served hot and not semi frozen. He was very nice to us and did not change for that entree and offered the great dessert and mocha drink (even we insisted in paying for that). Kudos to the services but honestly, my food was not that great, especially the mushroom soup served cold and that experimental weird dish called artichoke. As per that particular dish, probably was my fault for not asking and assuming I would get some sort of classic grilled artichoke with some delicious sauce to dip or something. Maybe I don't have a sophisticated palate, but the mix of wild black rice hard as a rock with pine nut foam (tasted pine nuts but other than melting in your mouth did not add anything especial. Then an egg in the middle of the plate (super cold as well), and a couple of mushrooms...the artichokes...hum, like 2 small pieces that looked directly from a can. I felt bad because my boyfriend was taking me there like a special date and I could not avoid to feel disappointed. I tried to chew the composition but was inedible, sorry to say. It tasted horrible. As per the mushroom soup, the good part was the little pastry accompanying it, the soup was cold and was very common, nothing especial, I have had way better. My boyfriend liked his meat (I tried that and was really good) and I liked the octopus with pistachio cream, very original and nice. My my my what a wonderful surprise. Came to Utah for a work trip and was treated to this amazing place for dinner. I'll start by saying the drive to the restaurant was breathtaking. I'm a city girl. So to see how beautiful the mountains are up close and the greenery!!! It was such a vision. The restaurant is tucked in the middle of a woodsy area. The cabins are rustic and absolutely gorgeous. We were greeted by the staff who were extremely welcoming. While we waited for our party to arrive they gave a few of us a quick history lesson on the property. I thought that was super sweet! Now let's get down to the good stuff. The FOOD! Everything was delicious, decedent, luxury and fine dining experience. I tried just about everything that was ordered but I'll only touch on the things I ordered. For starters I had the mushroom cannelloni. Delicious. Deep earthy flavors. I enjoyed the scallops. But my favorite appetizer was the gazpacho. I didn't get a picture of it but it was my first experience with gazpacho and I enjoyed it A LOT! For my entree I ordered the king salmon. PERFECTION. The salmon was tender. It had a crispy butter outside and soft flaky layers in between. I loved how the snap peas snapped! Lol and I believe there were steamed or grilled mussels in with the potatoes. This dish was damn good. I would return over and over again for it. It's unfortunate when a restaurant tries to be great but fails at the most basic level. We had a family party of five ordering dinner, the Summer Squash, the Tagliatelle, and the Duck, we also had the Seasonal Soup, Scallops, and Fried Green Tomato. The person having the duck did enjoyed the meal. Everything else was over salted to the point of being not edible. The food came out looking like a show stopper, plating was exceptional. but then the taste. How can a kitchen get that much salt into their food, it was far to salty to be a mistake. something was very wrong in the kitchen that night. I know this cant be the normal food service, the restaurant would have been closed. Without making a issue we tried to speak with the wait staff but they didn't seem to care. Maybe because it was late or maybe it was because they had added a 20% service fee because of the size of our party. hopefully this was a one time issue and no one else has the same experience. read more

First time to the tree but went with my dad who worked here years ago. This place is beautiful and creates a vibe that feels like you're on a mountain in a cabin. They have not traded the rustic feel for fancy gimmicks but still fancy. Lovey music played, the lighting was soft, and conversations cheerful. The mushroom ravioli starter almost had me in tears. Came up for a nice dinner before going on the moonlight lift ride. The highlights were the bread/butter and dessert I think! We had their sourdough and it was delicious and their black salted butter was so good! For dinner I had the lamb loin, while parts of it were great the dish as a whole wasn't amazing. It was pretty tough to cut through and chew through and not super tasty even with the sauce. They definitely did highlight the protein, which mostly stood alone well but wasn't quite as good as I would expect for the price and experience. The fat cap on top was crispy though and definitely the best part. The sunchokes that came with it were pretty decadent though. They were caramelized, tender and very good. The green bread and green sauce were kind of tasteless. They didn't really enhance the dish and were just kind of a strange filler. For dessert I had the cheesecake and it was amazing! The cheesecake wasn't as cold as I would have liked but the taste was on point! It was a small circular chocolate cheesecake, there was a caramel drizzle with pecans, a strip of ganache and a little ice cream that was like cookies and cream. It had little crispy pieces and was so good! Together the whole dessert was a chocolate lover's dream! The only strange piece was little shortbread squares that tasted like they had coconut in them. It just didn't quite jive and they weren't that great. So was overall a good experience but didn't feel like the price point and experience met up with the taste and quality of the food. read more

Such a disappointing night at the Tree Room. We have been coming here for years and expected the same, cozy, delicious, mountain feel to the restaurant. Tonight is seems as though the Tree Room was having an identity crisis and was trying to be a sub mediocre French restaurant. We had the scallop and pork belly appetizers. Both were tiny portions ($20 for 2 small scallops and another $20 for two bites of the pork belly). Totally underwhelmed by both. The 8 spoonfuls of the seafood bisque had no seafood flavor whatsoever. As the whole thing was blended, it easily could have been any kind of undistinguishable creation with a little spice thrown in. The duck I ordered was two small slivers of nothing special duck with a tiny dollop of sauce and virtually nothing else (whatever side dish it was was 2 bites worth). Same story with my husband's pork tenderloin. There were just 3 small pieces of meat and a forgettable tiny side. The only positive menu items were the complimentary rolls as well as the chocolate raspberry dessert which were both yummy. The only other positive comment I can give is on the staff who were friendly and attentive. As we had a dissapointing meal at the Foundry Grill just two weeks ago, we are really questioning if we can justify coming back to Sundance for anything more than the scenery. We love being at Sundance, but the overpriced, not great food doesn't justify the dining experience. read more

The Tree Room was definitely a refreshing sit down meal during our vacation after driving around Utah visiting all 5 National Parks! First, the ambience is elevated rustic and the waiters were incredibly attentive. We ordered the Mushroom Cannelloni and Roasted Fennel salad to start, which tasted rather decedent and fresh. For our main course, we ordered the Chilean Sea Bass and Duck which were good but overall average and mild in flavor. For dessert, the chocolate raspberry cake was a nice way to top us off. And don't miss out on their Sundance complimentary bread! An oat, golden raisin, walnut (?) roll... still dreaming about it! It was Just Perfectly Amazing!!! Although, a different feel due to COVID ie: no bustling of conversations amongst tables. The Defly stayed cognizant of all the rules wearing masks & social distancing. Dinner was "NOTHING SHORT OF EXTRAORDINARY." Pepper Filet was Cooked so that it just -Melted- in your mouth! We had a lovely birthday dinner here for my aunt! A very serene ambiance with a guitarist playing live music for us during our dinner really set an excellent mood. We had several vegan members of our party and the chef was very accommodating. Such pleasant waitstaff overall! Our server Brent, was great. Treeroom is still the best steak I've had in the country- I travel a lot domestically and I often times find myself not ordering steak anymore when I'm out because nothing has been quite as memorable as the pepper steak at Treeroom. Beyond my obsession with the pepper steak, this place is always an incredible and beautiful dining experience everytime I'm here. It has some of the best wine lists, cocktails, and menus I've had in the country and I'm beyond grateful we have a restaurant this good here locally in Utah nestled in the canyons. It's the perfect place to bring people who are visiting Utah from anywhere in the world because they get the full Utah experience, environment, with an actual comparable dining experience you'd get anywhere else in the world. The entire menu is outstanding and you just really can't go wrong here. I choose Treeroom everytime for special occasions and if you're looking to take someone somewhere impressive. I've been 10+xs and will continue coming back here, one of my absolute favorites here in the valley. read more

This was my first visit to the Tree Room. The hostess seated us early which was very nice not having to wait for the reservation time. (Reservations highly recommended). The ambiance and wait staff are all top notch. The food for the most part was exceptional. My steak was small and very tough, and the staff took it back with no problem. She stated they had seen a few like that recently and were working with the local supplier to fix it. My replacement was much easier to chew, but was half the size of my original small steak. $40 for a 2.5 oz steak was ridiculous. They did comp desert because of the problem. Celebrated my birthday here with hubby. Had a reservation and were seated promptly even though we were about 15 mins early. Staff is very friendly and attentive. Service gets 5*. Ordered the Mountain Cooler Mocktail and it was refreshing and delicious (5*). After ordering we were served a complimentary Amuse Bouche which was pretty good, plus 2 different pieces of bread: wholewheat(?) sourdough which was chewy and good but had a very hard crust, and a small multi-grain w/ nuts roll which was hot and tasty and we asked for more of. Our starters were 2 Scallops with a tiny pepper stuffed with fresh sweet crab, and soy beans (not sure?) and delicious fresh corn (5*), and a mushroom stuffed cannelloni which was like nothing I've ever had before and amazing! (5+*). We also split the Sundance Salad - greens, candied walnuts, goat cheese, vinaigrette - which was good but nothing special (4*). Entrees were a very tender Airline chicken breast w/ an amazing sweet cornbread topped w/ compressed apple, berries, and mascarpone. My husband proclaimed it "the best cornbread he's ever had" and that he would "love to have a 2nd piece for dessert!" (5*). I ordered the salmon, which was a very generous piece and cooked nicely and came w/ wonderful fresh green beans and a few delectable roasted potatoes. However the sauce it was served with was bland and seemed more like a base that they forgot to add something to (4*). We opted to take dessert home with us and ordered the Chocolate and Strawberry cake, without the coconut ice cream. It was good, but nothing special. The best part was the very small amount of strawberry coulis (4*). I felt that overall for the price of the experience it was good but over-hyped. I'm sure the location plays a big part in that. But it was a great way to cap off my day and we did have a nice time. read more

So many flavors and textures with each dish was like an exquisite party in my mouth. The ambience is great. It's not a huge venue, though it can accommodate large parties. The service was way above average and the waitress and server genuinely cared about my experience. The Farm Egg starter was amazing! So many flavors packed into a small dish. The Capelletti was good, but I didn't get as much rabbit as I had hoped. The Sundance Salad had a great taste, and was the perfect warm up for my Pepper Steak. The steak literally melted in my mouth and was one of the most amazing steaks I've ever had. If you're looking to splurge a bit, and have an amazing dining experience, go to The Tree Room! read more

If you're looking for a special occasion meal, you can stop looking, this place is it. We celebrated our 22nd Anniversary here. Their menu is straightforward and small, which makes it easy to choose. Every single bite we took took our breath away. It is simply exquisite food that is very satisfying. Portions are just right to try a variety of starters, a salad, an entree and a dessert. You will leave full but not stuffed to the brim and uncomfortable like most other restaurants. I'm not usually looking to gorge myself, but to have a delicious meal and still feel good enough for other activities after dinner. Everything we tried was top-notch. Wow. I don't even know where to begin with my experience with the Tree room this week. I booked a table for a work dinner for a larger group during a work retreat, and someone would be celebrating a birthday the night we were there. First, I called and left a message to see if I could get something special sent to the table. No response. Called again, and left another message. No response. Called The Foundry grill and asked if there was anyone they could transfer me to since the Tree room wasn't picking up their phone. The only reply was that they open at 5pm and I could try calling then. So I called at 5 and it went straight to VM. So I gave up and asked one of the people in the group to get a special dessert for the birthday girl while they were there. THEN, while they were at dinner one of my coworkers has deathly allergies to a few things and the waitress didn't take them seriously. Went back and forth on if the items were in the food or not and finally told my coworker that FOR SURE there wasn't anything in it she couldn't eat. An ambulance and hospital visit later I can say that we will never be coming back to this restaurant. I have never dealt with such incompetent people in my life. read more

We had two negative experiences dining at the tree room, one small and the other not small at all. The small issue was no parking being saved for those with reservations with the free concert going on. We did plan time or footwear for having to park in the dirt far away from the restaurant. The large issue was there was a mouse running around the dining room. We watched it run between an unseated table and several tables where guests were eating repeatedly, pausing to eat millimeters from guests feet. It also was in the area where the wait staff was staging dinnerware. When we told wait staff we were told it was an ongoing issue and she would tell the manager. The manager never came to talk to us and we had to get up and stand by the hostess and ask for a manager before the concern was addressed. Instead of being contrite and acknowledging how unacceptable it was for there to be rodents in the restaurant, we were repeatedly told it is common to have field mice in mountain restaurants, and not a big deal. The appetizer we had eaten was comped, and the manager offered to box our entrees so we could take them. However, at that point we were not interested in eating any more food from their kitchen, and felt uneasy about what we had already eaten. We were not offered any other compensation, and no other guests were informed they were dining with a mouse under their feet. I acknowledge an infestation could happen, but the casual manner it was treated by the manager, and the acknowledgement by the wait staff is was a known and ongoing problem feel very concerning. read more

We had the steak, duck, grouper, with the house salad and soup special. Drinks were great too. We had the trees bees knees, the old fashioned, and wine pairings. Atmosphere was just amazing for Christmas night. Robert Redford was going to be there but cancelled, and they seated us at his table. Just unforgettable. I ordered the duck breast that also came with a confit, and while the breast was tasty, the confit was a little chewy. My boyfriends father ordered the pepper steak which I got to try a bite of and was absolutely delicious, and the bf ordered the boar rack and it was tender and juicy.
