Beautiful rustic restaurant with delicious food and friendly service. I felt like I had stepped back in time. Worth the drive from Park City. Definitely recommend!

Our family went for the Sunday brunch buffet. We had a complimentary $20/person breakfast for two people and a $100 resort credit from the Sundance Resort that we had wanted to apply the fees toward. My siblings and I - the three of us - got to go in and receive a delectable assortment of food in celebration of the holidays and wrap up for the new school year. We're very grateful for the hospitality and the service that had been provided. Sunday brunch buffet is only offered once a week. It reminds me of the food that is offered at nice club houses. There's an area for yogurt, charcuterie, steak, salmon, pasta, salad, omelette, gingerbread pancakes, and a vast array of desserts. Drip coffee, soda, and water are covered within the $55/person fee. We were seated in the area right behind the room dividers next to the front desk. The area is well decorated with Christmas decor. The sun streams in through the windows. A huge shout out to our server J was very quick and timely in checking in with us and making sure we were well settled. Make sure you go in with an empty stomach and dressed to take good pictures all throughout your stay here. God bless you all.

I review restaurants with my OAT method: O= Overall experience - The way I found this lovely hidden gem was by accident! I originally planned to visit the Bearclaw Cabin to taste their famous nachos but unfortunately they were closed for the season. My mom and I had already driven to Sundance so we figured we might as well stop by the Foundry Grill and eat lunch. I loved it so much, I came back a week later with a friend! And she loved it just as much as me! We agreed to make it an annual tradition to eat here! I came here both times during lunch and had no issues getting in and the service was great. A= Appearance - The second time I came here they transformed the place with Christmas decorations and that made the experience even more special! Decorations go a long way! The fireplace gives it a warm, cozy feeling but it also sets the stage for a romantic spot! T= Taste - I am a mac n cheese connoisseur! One of the main inspirations for coming back was the famous bacon-onion mac. The bacon jam and sourdough crumb on top was to die for!! I could eat this and this alone for the rest of my life. I have never had a mac n cheese this good before and trust me I try a lot of mac n cheese. - It's not featured on this menu, but I split the Turkey Dip with my friend and it was a hit! It was a twist on a french dip with arugula (which I know sounds strange but was actually a great addition!) and not to mention it was on a fresh slice of bread! - Drinks: hot chocolate, mountain cooler, and gilded apple = amazing!! I would absolutely recommend all 3 of these! For a refreshing, cold drink, the gilded apple was my favorite. The hint of caramel was extra yummy! The hot cocoa is a must because they top it with homemade whipped cream.

Incredible food! Pricey, as expected. Our server was excellent and gave great recommendations. Make sure you try the brussel sprouts! Of all the dining options on site at Sundance Resort, this one is probably the busiest, so make sure you budget enough time. It'll be a loooong dinner! - AD

What a gorgeous location! Absolutely stunning. We had dinner reservations for a Tuesday at 5pm and were the first ones to be seated. We opted to sit inside, which looking back, I would have preferred we sat outside. Inside was stuffy and warm, where outside was shaded and had a breeze so even on the July evening, it would have been enjoyable. We started out with the cheddar bay biscuits and I loved that I could taste the celery salt in them. They were the perfect amount of salty and savory - honestly you didn't even need the butter with them. Then for my main course I opted for another appetizer and a side. The Whipped Burrata was so delicious. I love the balsamic glaze they drizzled over it along with the olive oil. I wish I had more focaccia to eat it with but no worries, I used some of the cheddar bay biscuits! The fried artichoke was about as you'd expect. I only wish some of the pieces were smaller. It would have been a better breading ratio. Lastly, we ended with the s'mores skillet cookie and that was the perfect way to wrap up the evening. The toasted marshmallows really brought the dish together! I highly recommend visiting this gorgeous restaurant be sure to sit outside! The view is where it's at.

If I could eat here everyday - I totally would! This was a special birthday treat because I'd never been to the Foundry Grill before. I wasn't disappointed!! Everything on the menu looked INCREDIBLE. If you can swing it - go with a friend so you can order more, share your food, and try everything!! Our service was super quick and the vibe was dark, moody, and cozy.

Everything about this experience was 5/5!! We had a reservation for brunch for 8 adults and one child. When we drove up, they had parking passes for us with the reservation, so parking was easy!! The mountain views are breath taking! Timp is so pretty. Our table was ready a little early. They were able to fit us at one big table which was really nice. The tables had really cute little floral decoration on them. There is a server that comes by for drinks. I got a Diet Coke, and the brew was great!! They were prompt with refills. The buffet was spectacular!! There were so many different options. They had a yogurt parfait bar with granola and fresh fruit. The berries were REALLY good!! They also had an omelette bar where you could customize with different veggies and toppings such as guac and sour cream. It was fun to watch the girl making them cause she was really good at flipping them! They had a spinach and goat cheese egg dish that my BIL said was incredible. They had a variety of breakfast foods: sausage, bacon, French toast, red velvet pancakes (a personal fave), chorizo hash eggs Benedict, and bagels with cream cheese. They also had lunch options with a salad bar, pasta, and chicken. They had a carving station with prime rib and pork loin. The meat was really tasty with good flavor and cooked perfectly. I went to use the restroom while we were there and the halls have a bunch of cool old photographs that were fun to see. In the bathroom, they have complimentary tampons. We love to see it!!! After brunch, we walked around a little bit by the creek, and it was beautiful. Amazing experience!!

    Bonanza

Came in for a drink. My husband said the Smoked old fashioned was perfect. I had a glass of bonanza. Matt at the bar helped us. He was great and service was amazing. We ordered sushi and it was good. Can't wait to come back and try other menu items.

My work group has been here twice for lunch and everyone enjoyed their selections. The lunch menu is a bit small, but changes seasonally and has good options. Service is prompt and informative. Setting was rustic and pretty.

    Bone-in ribeye
    Matthew K.

I had dinner at The Foundry Grill at Sundance and was absolutely blown away. Nestled in the stunning mountain setting, this place captures everything you want in a refined yet rustic dining experience. I ordered the bone-in ribeye--a beautifully seared cut of beef, served on a checkered wood board with grilled asparagus, a ramekin of au jus or reduction, and the creamiest bowl of rustic mashed potatoes I've had in years. They are rivaled only by my wife's home-cooked ones--high praise, trust me. The steak was topped with a generous dollop of herb butter and a sprig of pea shoots, and it melted in my mouth with every bite. The flavors were balanced, rich, and deeply satisfying without being overwhelming. The asparagus had just the right amount of char, and the potatoes were hearty, comforting, and perfectly seasoned. Service was attentive without being intrusive. Friendly, knowledgeable staff, great pacing, and a cozy atmosphere made the whole experience even better. If you're anywhere near Sundance, this place is a must. And if you order the ribeye--don't plan to share.

Recipe showing server Elle R and the cost of house salad and Caesar salad
    Carol Y.

We came here as a group of 10 girls to celebrate a birthday. We all sat down and ordered our food. I ordered a prime rib and the server (her name is Elle R from the receipt), she asked us soup or salad, my understanding with that question would be that's included. But at the end, the bill shows house salad is additional $10, Caesar salad is additional $12. That's definitely a misleading. She shouldn't ask the question soup or salad if it's not included, she could have ask do we wanna add a soup or salad as a side. Honestly the dressing of the house salad wasn't that good so none of us even finish that. I am a foodie and eat out a lot. I had prime rib everywhere else like Flemings or Ruth Chris, and just had prime rib last week on a Disney cruise. The quality of this prime rib was bad bad bad. I requested a medium rare, and it's super hard, and hard to even cut it, with the steak knife, they way overcooked it. For the price I paid, it was a terrible meat. Usually from a high end restaurant, the server would ask if we are satisfying with the steak, the server didn't even come back to ask us about the food! She must be super busy that night but I didn't get a chance to tell her my prime rib was way overcooked. I had to stuff myself to finish that prime rib. Will I come back to this restaurant? No. Definitely a NO. Overpriced and not tasting good.

What a beautiful setting (save for the current construction going on around the resort). The inside of this restaurant is warm and relaxed, service was very good throughout the meal. I had the salmon sandwich and sweet potato fries for lunch - everything was awesome!

What's the noise level? We're taking elderly guests and need a quieter environment. Thanks!

The ambiance is so elegant and peaceful. I would say the perfect environment for your elderly guests.

Anyone know if they have a different dinner menu on New Years Eve? Or during the holidays in general? Thanks!

They do on Thanksgiving. I'm not sure about Christmas and New Years.

Three Lifts to the Top of the World One thing upfront, we…read moredid not come for the food; we had breakfast at the Foundry Grill before heading up, so our Bearclaw experience was really about the journey and the views, with a side of genuinely excellent cookies that turned out to be the perfect mountain snack. So take the food commentary with that context in mind. What I can tell you without reservation is that the lift ride alone is worth the trip. You take the Outlaw Express up through the trees to Mandan Summit, then transfer to Red's Lift to reach Bearclaw Summit, and the views that open up are legitimately breathtaking. A full 360 degrees of Wasatch Range, Utah Lake and Deer Creek Reservoir visible at the same time, mountain peaks in every direction. We came as a family and everyone enjoyed the ride. Dress in layers even in summer, bring sunscreen, bring water, and do not forget your camera because you will use it constantly. Plan on roughly 45 minutes each way for the full ride. It is not a quick detour, it is an experience you build your day around. Hiking trails branch right off the lifts if you want to extend the adventure. No gear required, no experience needed. Now for the honest part. The restrooms are a real letdown. We are talking pit toilets in an outdoor cabin adjacent to the summit area. At a resort with the history, the brand, and the expansion budget of Sundance, that is simply not acceptable. Snowbasin has marble restrooms at their mountain top. Sundance has an outhouse. If you have the capital to build new lifts and expand the resort, you have the capital to give your guests a dignified restroom experience at the summit. This is a solvable problem and it stands out badly against everything else Sundance does well. And then there were the rat traps. Visible, sitting out in plain sight near the Bearclaw restaurant area. Not exactly the aesthetic you expect at an Alpine resort. Four stars, and every one of them belongs to that lift ride and those views. Sort out the restrooms and lose the visible pest control and this is a five star experience without question.

We knew it was going to be pricey because of the location, but it was PRICEY. We got the nachos with beef, which when we split it two ways the price was more palatable and it was more than enough food, but the price tags had us asking for water cups. No water cups, no running water up there. Hence the price. So we settled for no drinks until halfway through the nachos then I got back in line for sodas since I think they were cheaper than the bottle of water. The nachos were good, lotssss of chips. Included sour cream, guacamole, plenty of cheese, we added beef, but the star of the show for me was the jalapeños. Very tasty. The vibes were so good as you can imagine. Everyone was chill and enjoying the views. We had to clean our table before sitting down, but that was due to one person bringing out food and it being poached in there. I'm grateful we got a table actually, it's pretty tiny. It was a cool one time experience that I have already recommended to several people - but yes just a one time experience for me because of the price tag attached.

However, we did have one drink server where we had some issues with, but our main waitress was lovely. For starters, our table shared the baked ricotta, balsamic glazed brussel sprouts, and bread rolls with honey and butter. The brussel sprouts were good, but the bread rolls were my favorite! They were so incredibly soft and pillowy. They honestly didn't even need the bread and butter! I was most excited for the baked ricotta, but unfortunately it was a disappointment for me. Ricotta is a very mild cheese to begin with, but I tasted absolutely zero flavor from it and it was mostly just adding a textural element to the bread. The fig walnut guanciale jam was overpoweringly sweet and the guanciale was also nonexistent. Overall, what I expected to be a flavorful combination, fell pretty flat and bland for me. Onto the main, I got to try the Block burger and the house made gnocchi. The burger was a standard burger, nothing too crazy. I was surprised the patty was actually moist because it was cooked well done. The same jam from the baked ricotta was used, so wasn't a big fan of it because again the overwhelmingly sweet didn't do much to elevate the burger. I also missed any flavor from the truffle cheese sauce. So it was a pretty average burger. My gnocchi definitely tasted better than it looked. Another friend also got the same dish and it looked like they just split our portions in half and served it on two separate plates. In general, I wasn't a big fan of this dish. The braised short rib was very tender, but the whole plate sat in a pool of salty sauce. I couldn't really make out any other flavors. The scoop of crème fraiche tasted exactly like sour cream and was not the consistency that I expected. The gnocchi's were made well, but I prefer mine a little firmer. However, this is complete personal preference. Overall, service was good, but food fell severely short of what I expected. I was so excited for all of these elevated flavors and ingredients, but, sadly, none of them came through.

They were not; they were actually 50% or more higher at the restaurant. The hamburger that was showing on Yelp for $15 was actually $22. The Steak Frites advertised for $22 were $35. I understand inflation, but this was a gross enough difference that it borders on deception, in my opinion. I also had a bad experience with my food: I ordered a cup of their chili (which they claim is made from scratch, on-site) and it was brought to the table cold. Like, "right out of a can" cold. Kelsi, our fantastic server, returned it to the kitchen where (I presume) they nuked it and brought it back. It was heated, but not very tasty. Flat; under-seasoned; mushy textured. Definitely something I'd never order again. Many reviews say the atmosphere is "loud" but what they mean is, it's "LOUD". We were seated inside, and it was nearly impossible for the three of us to converse. The acoustics are not great. Enough cons; how about some pros? My burger was FANTASTIC! piled high with caramelized onions and pastrami, but beef patty tasted like it'd just come off a charcoal grill. Terrific flavor in every bite. (The parmesan fries were tasty, too, but a little on the soggy side.) My dining partners each had a salad (one 'wedge' and one 'beetroot') and both were well-prepared and generously portioned. And, finally, the staff, the location, the vibe: All really first-rate. I'll probably come back, if I ever recover from the bait'n'switch sticker shock. (But I'll steer clear of the chili and opt to dine on the patio, if that's available!)

Now for the not-so-good. We usually call ahead because we have a few family members with food allergies. We called ahead and everything sounded kopacetic. We arrived and ordered our food. One member of our 6 person party ate a couple of fries (which she asked about ahead of time due to her allergies) and she noticed something different about the fries. We asked one of the workers if they put something on the fries because they were crispy on the outside. The worker said "I don't think so." We asked if he could check to be sure so he went to ask. He came back and said "it's just crispy coating." So again we asked "can you tell us what is in the crispy coating because we are trying to avoid an allergic reaction." He replied "it's just crispy coating I don't know what's in it." So we asked "is there anyway you can find out what's in the crispy coating?" He replied "there is definitely a way to find out." He goes to the back...again. When he returns he says, "we fry the fries in a fryer with our chicken tenders. I would suggest not eating the fries." His suggestion is well-taken but we still don't know what's in the 'crispy coating.' When we were ordering, one member in my group asked for the two meat plate with brisket and pork ribs. The menu says "pork ribs." The worker said "We don't have pork ribs. We have ribs." So ribs it was. Giving a little room for grace, he was a young man who seemed to be new. BUT if you are at the cash register taking orders, you really should know what's on your menu. As for the food, it was disappointing. Portions were small. For the two meat plate with brisket and sausage, I was given one piece of brisket and a small hot link. To be fair, the menu says "8 oz" for the two meat plate so you kind of know what you're getting. When the order comes out, it looks very small. The brisket was a little on the dry side. The hot link was tasty but small. Buyer beware. TLDR; not coming back
