Had a chicken burrito at the Treehouse this evening. While it's nothing to write home about, it brings back some late night, old school memories. Portions are definitely great; however, you can see the declined on the flavor, plating, etc. Everytime we order, they never completely follow our requests. Every single time I have ordered the chicken Cesar salad, I have been very clear on tossing extra dressing in my salad but what I receive is the opposite. There is HARDLEY EVER any dressing and all I get is dried salad. Blah!! Rethinking of ordering a different location for our ongoing work luncheons. read more

The food here isn't that bad but the service is awful! I ordered 2 four foot burritos a week in advance with delivery. They showed up 17 minutes late and only had one burrito in hand! When I notified the delivery person of the error they said that they would produce another burrito. About 10 minutes later I called and told them just to forget the 2nd burrito. They put the manager on the phone and he said the second burrito was being delivered right now. I asked when it would be here and he said 1 minute. In disbelief I said, 1 minute? And he confirmed, 1 minute. 10 minutes later the 2nd burrito showed up (more than 30 minutes after my original delivery time!). I was so annoyed. Bottom line, I will NEVER order from Treehouse again and will warn others about their catering service. It's expensive, slow, and full of errors. read more

The food is average, the price is high, and the service is consistently terrible. Admittedly, it's a food place meant for college students, but nearly every option is unnecessarily pricey (I paid $6 for a cheese quesadilla tonight - no sides, just salsa and guac) and their ability to screw up orders is incredible (my cheese quesadilla was filled with chicken). My worst experience came when trying to watch Game 7 of the 2014 World Series in their TV-filled side room. My friends and I ordered wings for the group (30-40 wings total) and returned to our seats to wait for them to call our number. It was admittedly rather busy, but after about 45 minutes, I got up to check on the order since I hadn't heard anything. The cashier saw me waiting by the pick-up window and said "Are you the girl who ordered chicken? Forgot to tell you: We're out of chicken." It had been about an hour at this point, and if I hadn't gotten up, it's unclear whether they would have even told me. After forcing me to get back in line to order replacement food, the manager tried to give me a refund while taking a phone order. He did not listen when I ordered another food item and he gave me my refund in cash despite me paying credit, so I ended up with a pocketful of loose change. The whole experience was so frustrating, we left the restaurant to watch the game elsewhere. Also, while I've never experienced it, there's usually about one bout of food poisoning reported each year. If you don't live on Stanford campus there is no reason to eat here. If you do live on Stanford campus, just go to CoHo. read more

This is most definitely one of my favorite places to eat when I'm at Stanford. They have Mexican food, Asian food, pizza, and alcohol. How could you go wrong? How could you not find something delicious? It's practically impossible. Mexican food. The burritos here are delicious. I always get a super chicken burrito because it's packed full with all the ingredients you could ever want. The breakfast burrito is also a delicious option for any time of day. The steak quesadilla is also really good. The flour tortilla is made fresh, the steak is really tender, and the cheese is deliciously gooey. It's the perfect late night snack. And if you want something on the lighter side, the tostadas are delicious too. It's more like a taco salad, though you don't want to let it go too long otherwise it gets soggy from the refried beans. Asian food. I don't know too much about the Asian food but my cousin always get's the chicken teriyaki bowls and he loves them. Pizza. They make the pizza on foccacia bread. It's to die for. I really can't explain that idea enough. They have all sorts of toppings but my favorite is cheese and hawaiian. And buying their large pizzas for parties is perfect. Happy hour specials are awesome. Pitchers are the perfect way to go if you're splitting with friends. And this place is open late. And cheap. How great does this get? read more

The Treehouse is a special place on campus. It's the only place open late besides the thoughtfully-named "Late Nite." It's also one of the only places on Campus that serves Beer. Their tap selection isn't great, but who really cares? It's centrally located and with cheap-enough pitchers, it's a great place to catch up with old friends. There's also a pretty wide range of edible food. The teriyaki bowls are very filling, and the burgers (i recommend the cardinal or BBQ chicken) are real tasty (though the literal mountain of fries it comes with is a bit overkill, and really only worth eating with a slightly smaller mountain of condiments). Burritos are decent, and the nachos are a favorite of many but not recommended if you're looking for a satisfying meal. The asian chicken salad is a fine option if you're looking to eat healthy (try not to use too much of the sauce). Plus you can order ahead online and pick it up when you get there. It's hard to imagine my Stanford career without The Treehouse. read more

A fun place!! My colleagues took me here for lunch when I started at Stanford and I've gone back several times since. The food is delicious and plentiful. You really get a lot for your money! I recommend their burritos --- I've had the vegetable model --- as well as their fish tostada. Centrally located in the Tressider Student Union, its a great place to meet friends. How can Treehouse be so bad?? Ah, right. Because it is one of the few places on campus that will offer you food after normal dinner time. Especially during the summer. So their service, as a result, is pretty variable. Sticking to the standard burrito or tostada will generally yield good results. They're nothing special, but give a decent amount of food for the price. 3-4 star value. But today.... I ventured to try the Caesar salad, with chicken. Poor choice. What I received 25 minutes after ordering was a carton of lettuce -- not bad lettuce, but drenched in dressing (my fault, didn't specify) -- and topped with croutons, sun-dried tomatoes and burrito-quality steak. Wait what? This is a chicken caesar salad?? They may have run out of chicken. It was pretty bad, but I did eat about a 5th of it. Kudos in that they give you a rather sizable salad, and aren't stingy on the toppings. But that only makes you feel worse when you just can't consume it. Overall, Treehouse is there for a burrito or slice of pizza when you need it. I've heard their burgers are also decent. But if you're ever considering the salad, be warned. I really like The Treehouse. The food is probably the best among all the on-campus eateries. The one reason it wont ever get 5 stars from me is the wait; during peak hours, you're looking at a 20-25 minute wait for your meal. I recommend trying the jalapeno chicken or beef burgers (comes with fries). The animal fries are also a tasty surprise for anyone on a budget. They recently opened up a new area for seating, which really helped the formerly limited seating arrangements! Definitely worth trying - just try to avoid the standard meal-time rushes. read more

Tldr: slow service, high prices, forgot my order twice in the same visit. Ordered chicken nachos via order ahead App. Pick up time says 8:09. Arrive at 8:15 and try to get my order. Cashier tries not to make eye contact and shifts her body 30 degrees to the left so I'm not in her peripheral vision, even though this makes using the register hard for her. Finally asks me what my order was at 8:20. Lo and behold, the order wasn't put in. Tells me that it'll be right out. It's now 8:37. No nachos. On the other hand, the 8 people who ordered in line while I was waiting have all gotten their food and left... I was suspicious that this happened because of technical problems in the orderAhead app, but the burger I ordered last week in person was also not put in. That said, the prices at on campus eateries are high in general so it's not just here. There just aren't that many options for eating late, so I appreciate the variety that you can get at treehouse. I would appreciate it more if I could actually get the food I paid for. :( read more

This is your typical college campus grease ball establishment. It has a nice enough bar ambiance to it, with giant beer bottle and other decor on the walls. Wooden tables are paired with wooden booths or wooden chairs. It's not exactly comfortable seating, but there is plenty of it. Service is friendly enough, always happy to help you out. You order at the cash register, and then wait for your number to be called. I've sampled many items on the menu. The teriyaki bowls are just okay. Their teriyaki sauce doesn't have a great flavor to it, but it's passable. The quesadilla is decent by itself, although not great. The quesadilla with steak is the same. The steak is pretty tough, and doesn't have much of a flavor to it. Their cheese fries could benefit from a bit more seasoning. They're also just okay. The pizza is terrible. It's crispy, and a bit overprepared/burnt. Just avoid it. Overall, The Treehouse offers a very expansive menu of greasy options, but nothing really stands out as great. From pizza to fries to burritos, you can find plenty of calories and mediocre food. Definitely not the best food in the world, although it is the type of food that will keep students running back again and again. read more

Fine dining it is not, but what the Treehouse IS is reliable and cheap. As a poor college student and unpaid intern, I find myself repeatedly drawn to the lure of $2 pizza slices (pepperoni and Hawaiian are 50 cents more) and $5 chicken teriyaki bowls (that I can stretch into two meals). I'm not a big fan of Mexican food, so most of the menu remains unexplored to me, but the quesadillas are decent as well. Ordering is generally slow -- most of the time there's only one cashier, which leads to massive lines, and every once in a while the cashier will be the same guy who gets pizza for the customers. The Treehouse, like most campus establishments, hasn't gotten the hang of no-signature-needed-under-$25. Food generally arrives through the window about 7-10 minutes after you place your order, and there's ample seating inside (though loud and crowded) and outside in the "courtyard." read more

The chicken teriyaki bowl with broccoli at Treehouse is one of my favorite things to eat at Stanford. I've been here dozens upon dozens of times, and have strayed from the chicken teriyaki maybe two or three times. The other food is good too (I had a really delicious Thai chicken burrito once) but I always end up ordering the same thing because it's just too damn tasty. The chicken is tender and the sauce is thick and a little sweet. With a healthy spritzing of rooster sauce, it's really a perfect meal. read more

It's a little bit depressing for a Cal alum to go here and grab dinner at a college eatery but it is convenient, fast, and cheap. All around me I see these poor college souls burdened by the weight of their $40K tuition and their red clothing with the "S"-word across the chest. They're thinking studying for midterms are so stressful and end up ordering 10 square slices of pizza and a greasy burrito to compensate. I wish I could just tell them to just drop the books grab a pitcher and go get loose with the goose. But no, I can't live vicariously through Stanford students and I resort to thinking about my 10 burritos and a fish taco that I ordered. Treehouse is definitely legit for a campus eatery. Tons of choices of burritos, tacos, entrees, burgers, tortas, rice bowls, salads (just a boat load of food on the menu). Quality definitely lacks a little but for about $6 an item, you can't complain and you can only binge. read more

I was attending a conference at Stanford University last week and the Treehouse is the pub on campus. I have to say, I was not disappointed by any means! They have a pretty good selection of beer and good happy hour prices ($9 a pitcher!!). They have a wide selection of food: pizza, nachos, quesadillas, burritos, bowls....all with lots of options and not the typical ingredients. I had a Thai chicken burrito. Holy moly as it good! Rice, chicken, Thai chili sauce, and a grilled pineapple salsa. So good!! And for a campus restaurant, the prices were not bad at all with large portions. Loved it, wished there was a location in San Diego! And now I"m craving that burrito again... read more

This was our go to place before football and basketball games. Very disappointed with the food . It doesn't look the same it doesn't taste the same . Salad was missing half the ingredients that were listed on menu. Salad dressing with the Togo order poor quality and not enough to dress salad. I will say the burrito was large but not much flavor. Salsa on burrito taste like plain tomatoes and the rice was unseasoned instant rice. The new owners need to figure out what made this place a gem on campus and bring it back. . Oh Treehouse, how I love thee. This place serves some of the best Mexican food in Palo Alto. They have a huge selection of burritos, which definitely rivals Chipotle. Also, I have a place in my heart for the fish tacos. Also have great burgers and fries. Also have great brews on tap. Located in the heart of Tressider student union, Treehouse is a great place for you to grab a quick meal while on Stanford campus. I came here for a quick bite during dinner time, and was pleased to find no lengthy lines. There are a lot of different choices at the Treehouse (pizza, burrito, sandwiches, desserts), and ample seating space as well. There are two large screen TVs for you to enjoy while you take your meal. I ordered the $4.95 combo with one slice of pizza and salad. Both were standard -- your typical cafeteria-like, fast take out food. The service was incredibly quick as they already have pizzas premade, and just have to heat it back up. Would definitely come back for the quick service and very reasonable prices. read more

And they're open late. All in all, it's a fine campus eatery. But if you have the chance to eat off-campus instead, I suggest you do so. (In my opinion, they do Mexican food the best. This place has definitely grown on me. It's a great place for group hangouts (happy hour with research group, catch up with friends, etc.), and they actually have surprisingly good wings. I recommend the angry habanero (not as spicy as it sounds, unfortunately), and the sweet tequila. In fact, get them both - they complement each other really well. Garlic fries are solid, spicy garlic fries are not. This place is also essentially the same as Ray's in GCC, minus some of the asian options (Pad thai, chow mein, etc.). Man. How many hours have I spent here after missing brunch on Saturday and Sunday? I'm old now and graduated, but I came back to check out my alma mater a few months ago and couldn't resist a stop at the Treehouse. The Treehouse has updated, but the important things have stayed the same. For example, my Thai Chicken burrito is still there, with a nice chewy tortilla and plenty of spicy chicken and pineapple. Don't knock it til you've tried it. They have pizza now, which looked really good. We went on a day where it seemed like there were a lot of people on campus due to a conference, and yet the food came out fast and hot. It's good to see that the more things change, the more they stay the same. read more

I'm not a Stanford student, but the Treehouse kinda' makes me wish I had been one (nevermind things like academics, and whatnot). A couple years ago, I worked at the Stanford Bookstore as a summer job (decent place to work), and I'd often go to the treehouse for lunch. Initially, I usually just stuck to their burgers, which are very good. The beef was quite tasty and you can oddly enough get a bacon burger for the same price as a plain burger or cheeseburger (though, combining them costs more, sensibly). Eventually, I branched out and tried their Mexican food too, which is also very good. I was a fan of their Quesadillas. The teriyaki bowls are worth trying too. The only thing I ever had here that I didn't like was a chicken burrito, and that's just because the riced had been heavily cilantro-ed (yes, I'm one of THOSE people that can't stand cilantro). And every single item I ever had here filled me to the point where I thought I was gonna explode. I just wish we had had a place like this at USC (where I went). read more

At the same time, it's on campus only a few minutes from my office, and they serve decent burritos, a tasty green salsa, pickled jalapenos, and draft beer for less than $3. This place is a mixed bag of emotions for me.. 3.33-- (1) Wait time: 3. Depending on whether someone has 2343890 questions for the sole worker at the register or if everyone just got out of a class... the line for payment can either be quick / non-existant or 10 students long. The girl who's there on the Wednesday nights I go is very quick about service though. The main problem is the wait for food; it's very hit-or-miss. After reading some other reviews, I say... just get there in-person if you can, because the prep will take a while if you've got meat in your entree. I can't imaging waiting even longer for delivery. They've got a sign that says it takes "7 minutes to grill your burger" but I've always waited 15-20 minutes. It's sort of frustrating when you see people way after you in line grab their food. Their teriyaki bowls and tacos come out really quickly, but if you're getting a burrito or burger, be prepared to wait. And wait. (2) Food: 3. They've got pretty decent burgers. I had no expectations for it... Not only was the patty well-seasoned, the meal came with fries. Tried it again the week after and it was still equally good. Guac and anything else is an add-on which is charged 1.50 :( I'm a simple person, so a good burger&fries makes me feel good. My buddy tried their teriyaki bowl. It looked like teriyaki sauce with a side of rice. They add steamed veggies, but it would have made a difference with stirfried veggies. Boyfriend grabbed two slices of their Pineapple-Ham pizza. He told me it tasted mediocre and lukewarm; couldn't finish the second slice.. Although their lemonade is good, I wanted to order a large, and they don't have large drink cups. Refills were extra too. -_- (3) Service: 4. This service rating is merely for the in-house experience. The staff are generally trying their best to deal with the sudden boom of 20 new orders after a half hour of not getting orders. I can sense that they are genuinely caring, so that gets a 5. However, they need to make a speaker system or something because no one can hear their order number being called. It gets pretty chaotic because they've only got enough room for 4 or 5 plates. Main issue: If people don't grab their food ASAP, the area gives people giant headaches, but if everyone crams into that small area with the soda dispenser, it also creates giant headaches and claustrophobia.... Anyways, I came for the convenience, but I wouldn't come if I were given an opportunity to grab food elsewhere off-campus. It's not a good place to eat comfortably. read more

Also, while I enjoy zucchini and squash, I didn't realize that they would put them in a burrito so I was surprised and not thrilled with my bite of avocado and sour cream being accompanied by squash. It's the quickest Mexican food you can grab if you live on the Stanford campus. Their prices have recently gone up, but nothing tops $10, which isn't a bad price for a meal in Palo Alto. I'm a fan of their nachos, which are one of the items that gives you the biggest bang for your buck. Their pizza is also pretty good, though it does sit out for a while (they reheat it before they give it to you)-- it's best when you can catch it right after it comes out of the oven. Their burgers are also pretty good, especially the El Jalapeno, which is topped with cheddar and jalapenos!! Their service is occasionally a little bit slow, but they've just added an online ordering system so you don't have to worry about it anymore. I can order my food in the morning, pick it up after class, and enjoy it with some TV when I get back. Overall, not a bad place and great for campus, but it does leave a bit to be desired. read more

This is my favorite, and I will miss it immensely when I eventually leave Stanford!!! UPDATE: After 6 months away from Stanford I came back. First, they now only offer breakfast burritos on Sundays! But I ordered one anyway. Big mistake. The ingredients were totally different totally disappointing. This place is convenient. I like how the food, with the exception of the pizza (will comment below), is made to order. Their tacos are decent, not completely authentic for me. However, I do like how the shrimp tacos have shrimp you can actually see and the fish tacos practically have half of a fillet. The burgers are okay, nothing to rave about. The quesadillas are huge, way more than I was expecting. I usually tend to get their teriyaki chicken rice bowl, lol, it reminds me of the one at JBox but with a bigger portion. I have had some inconsistencies, sometimes when I order the tacos I have chips/salsa on the side, sometimes not. hmmm, I'm not sure if than has any relation to how busy they are at the time. The most convenient ready food is the pizza. I definitely would NOT eat this. The pizza smells good, especially if you're hungry, but don't let it deceive you! It sits out, for gosh knows how long, until you point and motion that you want a slice. Then they put it on a plate and basically just stick it back in the over to warm it up, yuck. The cheese doesn't have that gooey, just melted, fresh taste. Not only does it look disgusting but the cheese has hardened from sitting out. GROSS!
