I was able to enjoy the Hickory BBQ hamburger with fresh cut fries. I was also able to enjoy a peach Italian soda. All was delicious and would definitely recommend the food. The wait staff has a tag team approach. If they walk by and notice you need help they just take care of you. They have fun events based on the day. It appears to be a community focused restaurant which appears to be doing a great job as the tables were full and the staff was hoping. #thanksunclejoe

I wish I could give a 4.5 as that would be more accurate, but will bump up to 5. Great friendly service from the host seating us and the atmosphere and decor is really charming in its country style. The meal portions are perfect, and lean toward large but not too large. I give the hash browns a PERFECT score - quality, taste, perfectly brown and crunchy outside with the soft shreds in the center. I will dream about these hash browns in days to come. My only constructive criticism would be that I prefer Huevos rancheros with more tomatillo sauce - it came with sauce under the crisp tortilla instead of over the shredded pork so I was hoping for more sauce - thought the flavor was there. I also added a couple of scoops of hash browns into the mix, because when you have perfect hash browns why would you not add them!

You won't be disappointed by anything you try here. The food and the service are excellent. Breakfast is only served on Saturday and Sunday.

Crab cakes were mushy and had zero texture. Undercooked, too much unseasoned bread crumbs and crab was definitely frozen. Chicken Asian salad was somehow dry and over dressed at the same time, peanuts were stale. The Sav Blanch was nice. Service was slow. They spoke to me 4 times total and mentioned nothing about my food that I was not eating. This is considered acceptable for Missoula dinning.

This is a nice hidden gem in Missoula that you should eat at. It's quaint, quiet and has good food and service. I have eaten here several times and have always enjoyed the meal. Yes, it is off the beaten path and tucked into rural residential area but you will be glad you came. Today I ordered the Market Club sandwich. Really, it is just a good turkey sandwich on a sourdough baguette. It is big enough to easily share--even for big appetites. The staff here are always friendly here and you will get some country charm verses the hurried city service you get in downtown Missoula. On a side note, I always laugh when restaurants call a sandwich a "club" sandwich when it doesn't have the "club.". The "club" is the middle piece of bread in a sandwich made with 3 pieces of bread. That is the real definition on a club. So in this case, while the Market Club sandwich is technically not a club sandwich, it is still mighty tasty and I will order it again. [Yup. That is one of my soap boxes...hahaha]. In short, eat at the Trough. It's a great locals spot tucked away from the hustle and bustle of city life.

The location makes it very convenient to go to the very pleasant bookstore next door while waiting for a table - there is no shortage of customers even on a Wednesday late morning. The line is well-managed with a waiting area and restaurant pagers handed out. It seems like a place that is frequented as much by young people as retirees. They have a combo plate that includes two eggs, hash browns, a protein (I've so far only tried the corned beef hash), and two pancakes starting at 17 with upgrades available for the pancakes. It can easily be split for breakfast and offers a really good variety of things. The corned beef hash, hash browns, and pancakes are all top notch in my opinion (and the eggs are good eggs also). There are numerous Best Breakfast Winner posters hanging above the window to the kitchen and I don't think this place needs much support - they seem to be doing quite well - but in case this reaches someone who is visiting Missoula and doesn't know about it, it's well-worth a stop. I arrived right when they opened, yet several seats still had crumbs on them. The service was quick, though not overly warm or welcoming. I also found it odd that the drink menu is printed separately on paper instead of being included on the main menu--it feels less polished than the rest of the space. As someone who eats plant based, I'd love to see vegan items clearly labeled on the menu and at least one more substantial vegan entrée option. I ordered the Powerhouse Overnight Oats for $22. They were actually quite tasty and surprisingly filling. However, at that price, I expected a little more. The chia seeds were dry rather than fully hydrated, and consuming dry chia seeds on their own is generally discouraged because they absorb liquid after being eaten. One final suggestion: please include menu prices on your website. It makes it much easier for customers to decide before visiting.

HOWEVER, you guys have got to get your shit figured out. The cashier gave us a number placard, and told us to stay at the front to get our drinks before sitting. So we did. Employees were abuzz, swarming like ping pong balls, and making food/drinks. We stood and waited, then after like 15 minutes a gal came out and handed me my plate of food!? We hadn't even gotten our drinks yet. *Why was I being handed food first, standing, versus receiving my drink and then served food while seated at our table?* I wandered to find a table, and found myself weaving through a bunch of people. It was awkward since all the tables/chairs are spaced SO close together. My husband stayed at the front for our lattes, as I started to eat alone. :( We loved the food, but we felt unhappy about the fracas and chaos. This is NOT the way to run a restaurant. We sat and enjoyed our lattes, and the eclectic ambiance. Finally another 12 to 15 minutes later, my husband's biscuits and gravy arrived. I am a slow eater, and I was already done eating, when he began to eat. :( Sad to say, our experience was extremely disappointing. Totally disjointed, and it left us feeling frustrated and irritated. This shouldn't need to be said, but you guys need to serve people in the order they come in. Get those tickets done asap, and it'll clear up your insane bottleneck you create by serving the "easiest" drinks and meals first. Yummy food, but NOT a good dining experience. Also, there are some funny reviews whining about feeling uncomfortable that this place is anti-ICE. Pro-lgbtq. "Oh the horror" to be inclusive, and tolerant of other people! I just know what you would've been balking about in the 1950's... Clyde Coffee is said to be a "liberal" coffee shop, but if you think about it, this is simply human decency... Treat others with basic kindness, and you won't feel such guilt. :)
