Had my birthday dinner here and was impressed. The service was excellent, great menu variety and a good drinks menu. Substituting the sides that came with the entree was not a problem (I'm keto so most things being served with potatoes might have been an issue). I went with 5 stars because the crispy Brussels sprouts appetizer was one of the tastiest dishes I have ever eaten - I think I'd go back and have a meal of just that plus meatballs (also amazing). The Twisted Olive advertises "reservations"! However the "reservation" may not be honored! That is if someone gets there before you too bad! We had friends in from out of town and requested a window seat in the bar. We could have it if no one wanted it before we requested the seat. The hostess was very apologetic bit the is the way the owners want it. So she guided us to a window seat in the dimly lighted bar. We had a great view of the outside stairs and the bottom of the deck above us. So much for customer service! This was the way the "owners" told the hostess to treat the customers! read more

Went to the Twisted Olive for the first time last night. It is a great place to dine. I had the strip steak and my girlfriend had the filet. We also shared the cheddar biscuits. All of which were just okay. The steaks were just a little under seasoned for our taste. I feel if we would of decided on something else we would of enjoyed the food a lot better. We had a delicious bottle of moscato and we will be coming back to try other food items. I would recommend eating at the bar downstairs. Just seems a lot more relaxed and has a better atmosphere. All in all our dining experience was great and I would recommend the Twisted Olive to anyone read more

I had my first dining experience at The Twisted Olive this evening. I will start off by saying that this is truly a destination, not just a place to eat. From the moment you turn down the driveway and see the incredible twisted olive sculptures to the minute you walk through the doors, everything is flawlessly executed. Kudos to the Gervasi family...again! While the food and service were fantastic, don't get me wrong, I have much more to say about the incredible attention to detail and execution of brand. I'm showing my inner Geek a little. Ok, a lot. I truly have an appreciation for marketing and branding, always have and always will. This restaurant is an excellent example of branding at it's best. Whether you choose to park your own vehicle and walk their beautifully landscaped grounds, or take advantage of the complimentary valet service, you'll eventually walk through their double doors and into an incredible dining room. The focal point of the room is a massive green chandelier gracing the ceiling. It's enormous. I'm not kidding. I think it's the size of my single car garage! Their iconic twisted olive is tastefully repeated throughout the restaurant, inside and out. This last weekend I visited this place and again I was underwhelmed. The wait staff was great but every time my food is messed up some how. If its not getting the wrong pizza, or not getting my food for 45-60min its another. Not sure if I have unrealistic expectations but if I spend 120$ on the bill I expect the food to be right and on time. Also I attempted to get a drink at the bar in the basement and the tender never even looked my way. I was there for 10min while he talked it up and laughed with other patrons. read more

Called Thursday to make reservations for today, Saturday, but they were booked. So we came early to sit downstairs and it was just as awesome and they have a decent kids menu. What a fun place! The atmosphere is second to none in the Canton/Massillon area. This used to be a private residence that was turned into a restaurant and it is worth checking out. The downstairs has a massive bar with open tables for eating as well. The upstairs is the formal dining area with multiple rooms branching off from the main area. The food was very good, although on the pricey side considering you can't choose your sides - each entree comes with the same side options. In our instance we had mashed potatoes with a side of asparagus (but it was good). The dinner portions are good sizes - I had the filet and my wife had scallops. The downstairs bar is really cool and overall this place was worth the price. They also serve local wine that can be purchased at the entrance. The one caveat I have is getting a reservation is difficult. I have called multiple times trying to get a reservation for a Friday or Saturday night and it is almost always booked between 6 - 8:30, although it doesn't seem like the restaurant is always full at these times. This could be improved but otherwise I enjoyed the Twisted Olive. read more

3.5 Stars. There is much to discuss and I will attempt to keep it brief, but there are many points to cover...good and bad. First let me say that we tried to use the "complementary" valet, but no one was there to take our car for us. The valet personnel were just hanging out inside. Not cool since it was below zero degrees outside as well. Not an indictment of the restaurant per se, but still frustrating. The atmosphere is really nice as you would expect. Well renovated, clean classy look, yet still casual enough to feel comfortable. They claim Italian american cuisine...I see it in the food, but not the decor. Regardless its a nice place to chill either at the bar or at a table. The service is, well, subpar to be kind. The ticket times are out of control. My wife and I ordered an app, some meatballs and a pizza to share at 5:45 and we were served the app first, meatballs second and pizza last...which was perfectly cool with me. What was not cool is those three courses took 1.5 hours to come out. About 30 minutes in between each course. Our whole dining experience took 2.5 hours for pretty simple items. Waiting for drinks and water glasses to be filled is a guarantee here. Bread took 20 minutes to arrive AFTER ordering food as well. Thing is we had a nice waiter, I just think it was an overall fail in the service. I tried a lot of food...we shared a lot with another couple as well. The lamb spanakopita was ok, the mint pesto was dynamite could have ate a whole bowl of that. Not super minty and good compliment to the lamb. However it was incredibly greasy and it had a second sauce which did not go well with it at all...seemed out of place. We tried two types of meatballs - the Spanish chicken and the spicy pork. Both were pretty good and very large for only $8 for the naked version. I liked the sauce for the spicy pork better but the chicken had really nice texture. Pretty tough to do a good chicken meatball in my opinion too. Last course we had the BAT pizza (Bacon, arugula, tomato) and it was solid as well. I really enjoyed the crust - it was cooked well and had great chew. Biggest complaint here was the grease as well. I feel like they compensate for average food by dumping butter/oil on things. It seems to really hurt the dishes I believe. My friends filet was cooked perfect and nicely tender, but boring and lacking even basic seasoning. The drinks were decent here, but fell a bit below my expectations. I tried about a half dozen (don't judge). And overall I found the prices to be affordable for food and beverage - and the portions to be massive. A small salad is gigantic...get that and some naked meatballs for $13 and you will be full. Overall I found the service and the food to be a bit lazy, but still close to having good, solid 4 star food with a few changes. They seem to have a long way to go in the service element, and after being open for about 3 months now its a bit disappointing. Lay off the excess butter a bit and improve service big time and you got yourself a go-to nice night out place. read more

Clearly the owners spent a lot renovating this space. The atmosphere is spacious and appealing. The menu offered a variety of interesting sounding options. First of all I normally don't complain when it comes to food and am easy to please. I was very disappointed last night at the Twisted Olive. The first time I went it was ok but a little pricey. This visit I ordered again the 3 chicken meatballs. They were very salty almost like someone dumped a salt shaker full of salt on them. When we complained to Brie the waitress she stated it must be the cheese and never offered to make it right. Second there were not 3 full meatballs that I ordered on my first visit. There were 2 meatballs cut in halves on little pieces of bread. Next you couldn't even find the sausage on the sausage, pepperoni, mush pizza we ordered nor could you find any red sauce. The first visit it was full but this time there was barely anything on it. We again asked Brie about the sausage and she said "oh it's in tiny crumbled pieces on there". The pasta was twisted noodles that were just ok and we had to send that back bec you couldn't find the red sauce on it. A nice gentleman waiter did return to the kitchen to pour more sauce on that for us. In all for pizza, a salad, 2 meatballs, and noodles with sauce the bill was over 80.00. Will not be returning. Was so excited for this place to open. Nice atmosphere but already cutting corners. Not good. That is how restaurants fail. read more

It was a spur of the moment decision to go here because we were catching a movie on Arlington. To start we didn't even get water for 5 minutes and it wasn't even from our server. Then it was another five minutes till he came by and greeted us and took our drink order. Service after that was prompt but he didn't really check in on us as much as he should have. I noticed a lot of other tables, not necessarily in his section, that were waiting a long time for service as well. Servers seemed to spend a long time at certain tables. One server was at a table talking for 5 minutes. Granted, he was discussing the wines but I think if that sacrifices time to even greet a new table it needs to be reigned in. The meals were okay. I got the twisted carbonara. It tasted good enough but the presentation was bad. It was macaroni noodles in a white sauce with peas thrown in. The atmosphere is the only redeeming feature of the restaurant. I probably would not return but I am glad I tried it. read more

Went there this past Friday for my wifes birthday. We arrived to a decent looking venue with valet parking. Valet parking is real overkill for this establishment. We had a reservation that my wife had to make a month in advance. Then we were seated between the front entrance and the restrooms (which by the way have the loudest toilets I've ever heard.) The menu was short, as if it was based on advice given by Gordon Ramsey. We ordered a couple of dinners with biscuits for an appetizer and house salads. The salads came out with rotten lettuce. That's right I said rotten, slimy lettuce that was brown in some places and minimal dressing. My wife got some sort of beef meatball smashed into twisted pasta. The meatballs were almost raw. I ordered the supreme baked pasta that I thought was good until I bit into one of the hot peppers that was so hot I couldn't enjoy the rest of it. The decor was OK, but not anything spectacular or romantic. They broke a pet peeve of mine, by putting the word "twisted" with its definition on the wall. That was ok for the Subway sandwich shops in the nineties, not a restaurant that serves close to a forty dollar filet. The constant stares from people waiting at the door and flushing of the toilets means that no thought was put into where people should be seated to enjoy their meal. Very disappointing. Even if it was free, we would never go back or recommend this place for anyone else to go. read more

This was the 3rd time I've been here, the 2nd time with my wife. Let's start at the beginning... The wife and I received $200 in gift certificates from my parents for Christmas. They know we have some discerning tastes and thought this would be appropriate for us. Our first impression was in January 2015 and it was not good. We ordered martini's, her's with Ketel One & dirty, mine with Chopin & very dry. Here's was fine with the exception of incredibly greasy blue cheese olives while mine was 50/50 vodka/dry vermouth. Abhorrent for a place whose name indicates they can make a martini. It took three drinks to have this corrected & I had to order the 3rd "just the vodka, chilled, & in a martini glass". We ordered the crispy shrimp, lamb, and loaded fries for appetizers. The fries were salty but good (they are fries), the lamb was pretty decent but the one sauce did not complement the flavors which seemed odd, and the crispy shrimp, although edible, were tiny, presented poorly, and nothing special. We then received our salads (strawberry & Brie, apple & fig) which were over portioned at half size, unremarkable and with dressings that were not pleasing to say the least. We had been debating entrees and asked our waitress for suggestions. After hearing that all of their fish was fantastic and fresh, I opted for the grilled halibut while the wife ordered a baked pasta dish. My fish was entirely inedible, tasted as if it was freezer burnt, came with seasonal veggies that tasted as if the came from a frozen bag, and mashed potatoes that could have been better if they were instant. Her baked seafood pasta tasted "funny" but was still better than my fish. After this we opted for desserts (we weren't really paying anyway) and even the cake was terrible. Our waitress and manager were very nice and removed some items from our bill (we had 2 bites of way of our dinners, finished less than 1/2 our salads, & had our desserts to go) which still resulted in a $150 tab that we were to embarrassed to pay for with gift cards after our complaining. Service was good but the food was awful, especially for the price. I went back again to have lunch with a potential client in early February. We had the meatballs which were average for an appetizer. I tried the house salad which was once again over portioned and came with sub par dressing. I also order one of their pizza's that was underwhelming to the point of disappointment. Tonight was the 3rd and final time. Our martini's were right, I ordered mine straight up to avoid the confusion. Our waiter was excellent but our food was disappointing in general and especially for the price. The crab cakes were nothing special & the adult grilled cheese sandwich was entirely unremarkable with the exception of how they combined 3 Non Complimentary flaVors in a single sandwich. It seems like Gervasi is attempting to create something new and different, which has been accomplished. I have never had such a disarray of flavors mixed together at such exorbitant prices in my life. We'll be staying away from here until they replace the menu, at a minimum. read more

The staff was very friendly and atmosphere was fantastic. We had several different wines, appetizers and main courses - they were all superb. The first time we ate here it was totally awesome. Today my daughter surprised me with a dinner reservation for Mothers Day. I was so excited. We asked our waitress what the special was. She advised the Ribeye with mushrooms, mashed potatoes, and green beans. However, she did not give the price of the entree which made it uncomfortable to order not knowing the cost. Since this is my favorite cut of meat, my daughter said go ahead, mom don't worry just get it. We both got it at $42 an entree. Upon arrival of the steak I was shocked to find the ribeye was covered in gravy and mushrooms. It kind of reminded me of how salisbury steak comes out with the gravy and mushrooms. I love the taste of the ribeye and do not use any steak sauce, so had I been told that it would be covered in gravy I would not have ordered it. I didn't want to say anything because I didn't want my daughter to know I was disappointed. However, when I bit into the steak it was so salty that I had to ask her if hers was very salty as well. Hers was but she could deal with it. I scraped off the gravy and tried to eat it which made it a little less salty but I couldn't eat it. I stopped eating it and told her I would take it home and wash it off and eat it later, but that I was going to say something if asked. Our waitress was attentive enough, but never asked if our meal was ok so therefore I let the matter go. I felt so bad for not eating the meal that I told my daughter I would pay for my entree because I didn't want her to feel that I wasted an expensive meal. Since I have eaten here before and it was very good I would go again. However, I would ask the server for specifics regarding their specials and ask the price if they do not disclose it. read more

We have been going here since it opened. The atmosphere is fantastic. When it first opened the food was kind of hit or miss. I am happy to say it has greatly improved! It is now our favorite go-to happy hour spot! Love the BAT pizza. Tonight we also had crispy brussel sprouts as an appetizer. Delish! If you have never been there, you have to try the meatballs. Enjoyed a fantastic lunch here today with a group of 17 "senior citizens" from church. I started off with a "Simple Garden Bloody Mary" ($6.00) made with vodka, celery, green olives, lemon, lime, and rimmed with celery salts. Last night a large group of my friends met for dinner. I agree, the atmosphere was beautiful. We had a great seat looking out to all the land in the back. Our waitress was great. Thankfully I read the reviews on yelp before hand. I knew what to avoid. I got the Grown Up grilled cheese with a side of fries. My meal was delicious. The people who ordered salads said they were very good. The pasta was dry, had to ask for extra sauce, no big deal. A friend ordered the seafood flatbread. She did not like it. The chili sauce was a jelly and it needed way more shrimp. If you read the reviews before you go you should enjoy your experience. read more

Took my 2 girls to the Twisted Olive for Easter. We were greeted by a very friendly staff at the door who escorted us to our seats. Our server promptly came to our table and was extremely friendly. We ordered 2 apps. The hummus and a bread that advertised cheese bacon and honey. The hummus was good but there weren't enough pita chips to eat all of it. The chips were very brittle but ok. The bread had cheese that was hard as a rock and sticking up like jagged pieces of ice. It was piled together in a dish covered in sticky honey. It wasn't that good, my girls wouldn't even try it. My oldest daughter ordered the Mac and Cheese but it was under cooked, dry and one noted. My youngest ordered a riff on chicken Alfredo. The pasta was elbow macaroni and again was undercooked, dry and had an overwhelming taste of Rosemary. She had about 5 bites. I had the special of braised lamb which was fork tender and paired well with the mashed potatoes. It was good but didn't wow me. For dessert we ordered red velvet cake in a jar which was cloyingly sweet. Way too much frosting not enough cake. I had the peanut butter buckeye pie again cloyingly sweet which made my teeth hurt. My youngest got a cookie pie which was the size of a quarter of a sheet pan and was basically pizza dough slathered in butter and had white chocolate and milk chocolate chips one it. She had about 3 bites of it. Not good. All together my bill was $102! With tip because service was good was over $120. Honestly I could of had a better meal at the Olive Garden or Applebee's which are 2 places I don't think highly of. Even though the atmosphere was nice the quality of food is not worth the high price. I don't think I'll be back. Sad. read more

We had reservations at The Twisted Olive for Mother's Day at 3:45. After hearing good things about the restaurant, we were expecting something in line with what we paid for, but it missed the mark. The drive onto the grounds, the restaurant ambiance and visual esthetics were spot on. My family of 5, all adults, was seated downstairs in a sparsely filled restaurant and we were almost immediately forgotten about. It took the waitress so long to ask for our drink order that we had all selected an appetizer and entrees prior to her arrival even though none of us had ever seen the menu. The appetizers, calamari and Brussels sprouts, were small, but very good. We each had a different entree and had 5 different experiences. The food arrived timely and was well presented. The Bianca pizza was cold within minutes of arriving at the table. The salmon was dry and overcooked. The apple & fig salad lacked enough dressing to consider it as part of the salad. It took two requests and 15 minutes to get a small cup of dressing added. The filet was cooked perfectly as was the twisted pizza. For the two pizzas, I'd say they were both flavored very well with excellent texture and excellently seasoned crusts. Both are well worth the $15 price in both size and flavor. I wavered between 2 & 3 stars, but landed on 2 for the following reasons. The service and food were substandard for the price paid. Perhaps my expectations were high. Perhaps it would have been better if we drank something other than water. In the end, we can get better food, similar ambiance, and a broader selection at a few other places in the area for about the same price or less. read more

Our waiter was fantastic attentive and nice! Food was good, mac and cheese excellent, salmon, pork chops all delicious. Steak salad was ok, steak was cold and appeared to be cooked hours before it is served. Wine and dessert great too! Only disappointment I tried to change my reservation to 8 and was told they could not fit 2 more. 7 was fine but not 8. I wasn't able to invite the 8th because of what I was told by the receptionist. Our table was in the back sunroom at 6:30...there was not a single other table in that room with people at it. Easily 8 other empty tables...including an 8-top that wasn't used. Maybe they don't seat people there because it gets cooler or whatever the reason but it was frustrating! read more

We had a wonderful time. The location is amazing, the food was delicious, and they seated us in a separate room downstairs, so the noise level was quiet. Fiancé had the "Surf and Turf," which included a great Filet Mignon, and I had the TTO Mac and Cheese, which included a tasty Gouda cheese. Wine was delicious, (brought in from their sister property,) and we finished it off with a delicious Bumbleberry Pie, served a la mode with vanilla gelato.
