This place was not our cup of tea. We recently relocated from Delaware and we were really excited for this place. However as soon as we walked in my husband got yelled at by a blond girl behind the counter because his mask slipped down. He was pissed and wanted to leave but we had already driven there and waited in line. We ordered 1 bagel to split with the veggie cream cheese just to try and I'm glad we didn't waste anymore money. These were super crumbly and were under seasoned. They also tasted like a roll and not a bagel. Definitely not a NY or PA bagel. Just okay truly sums up these bagels. I very much believe bagel styles are personal preferences but these bagels are crazy thick and chewy. More bread than bagel. The cream cheese was quite scrumptious. The clam chowder (Ivars) was suuuuuper watery, barely chowder much less soup. Big bummer as I LOOOOVE Ivar's stuff but it wasn't made correctly. I really hate to leave bad reviews, but when you are left with an experience that ruins your morning I feel obligated to to inform other customers. This morning my sister-in-law and I were hoping to have a breakfast sandwich and coffee for watching church this morning. We landed on the ultimate bagel because I was looking for something "more" than just a coffee stand frozen sandwich. We drove all the way there for it because I thought it would be worth it. Instead I was severely disappointed. First of all, the blonde lady working behind the counter was extremely rude to us. She made us feel unwelcome and that it was a burden that we were there. I'm not going to make assumptions about why that is but she clearly rolled her eyes at us. I hope this lady owns the business and is willing to offend customers at the sake of the profitably of the company. However, if she is an employee the owner needs to be made aware. I ordered a breakfast sandwich bagel that had Canadian bacon, egg, and cheese in it. I asked to add bacon. It came to $10 and some change after tax and a tip. When I got my sandwich she gave it to me in a bag. And then we waited 5 minutes for my sister-in-law's sandwich. During that time an employee took my sandwich back and gave me a new one. Apparently the other was a mistake. (I feel bad for whoever had ordered the sandwich I had because it sat in a paper bag on a cold table for 5 minutes so probably pretty cold by the time it was received). When both sandwiches were done we left. To my surprise my $10 had cheese and only bacon. Everything else was missing. It was cold and had two measly pieces of bacon. Pretty disappointed but the worst part is based on how we were treated I was not willing to drive back to get it fixed. The lady was so off putting that I felt better throwing it away then coming back to get what I paid for. I typically return to businesses where I have poor food experiences a year or so later hoping that enough time has lapsed that changes have been made. I've had great luck with that in the past. However for the Ultimate Bagel, I will not return to this establishment and will continue to warn others about it because of not only the poor food experience but more so the way we were treated. read more

Looked at the menu and they want $2 for a plain bagel (nothing on it)....seriously? Want cream cheese on that bagel.... it's like another $3+\-. You want a soda to go with it it's about $2 for a bottle but that isn't a 20oz bottle but a 16.9oz bottle. Bagels was decent but definitely dry and almost stale, but it wasn't small and wasn't airy like a lot of places make bagels out here. I guess I will never find my go-to bagel shop in this area. The same bagel in many bagel shops in NYC and the surrounding areas go for around a $1 for a plain bagel and yes every bagel place I have been to, makes their own bagels (& cream cheeses), which are fresher and there are more choices of different flavors for both bagels & cream cheeses. Staff is always nice and the environment is very college kid friendly but also not intimidating for others. Try an everything bagel with the garlic cream cheese... so good. I waited in the line for a little over 20 minutes (looots of college students were there, too). The pricing was a little more than I expected, and the bagels themselves were very dense and chewy. I don't usually mind a bagel being massive, but these were a touch too far, especially in combination with the dense texture of the bagel. I am going to start of with a complaint about price. I really wanted a salad and sandwich but they don't have an option for a salad on the side. Their half salad would be enough to feed most people all by itself. Also, $7.99 for a sandwich made on a bagel is just too much. I can get a footlong at Subway with more veggie choices for the same price. As far as the salad goes, it is just spring mix with a little feta and walnuts thrown on. At $5.25 for a half salad, that is exorbitant in my mind. And only two types of salad dressing, both vinaigrette, is really limited. The huckleberry one is awesome, but still. Finally, $1.99 for a 20 Oz bottle of soda is nuts. Service is really good and very prompt. Restaurant is very clean and comfy. I am really surprised that, being so close to a college this place is doing so well with the cost. But then again maybe this is the rich kid hipster spot so they just cater to them. I can't praise Ultimate Bagel enough! Growing up in Spokane I didn't fully understand the dense bagel style until I was a Gonzaga student and lived close by. I often frequented Ultimate on my way to class and grew to love their house made cream cheese flavors and the thick bagel that is almost a full meal. It was the perfect snack for a long class or a long trip to the library. After moving to Seattle with my husband, we would always order 6-12 bagels to go when we were back in town (they freeze excellently!). It's funny because his bagel style preference was not this "New York style" type either at first but it grew on him too after I kept making us return. He especially loves their BLTA bagel sandwich. So there is a serious lack of bagel joints in Spokane so we were excited to find this one. I'm just about to eat the bagels with cream cheese and while I admit that the bagels look good and the cream cheese looks good and has a lot of varieties to choose from, to pay five dollars for one bagel with cream cheese is absolutely highway robbery. I understand they are homemade But this is literally the most expensive bagel shop I've ever been to and I have been to hundreds across the country over my years of business travel. I'm sure they will be tasty but wow I think they would have a line out the door if they drop their prices even just a little bit. I bought six bagels in a bag to get their six pack pricing and then got four small containers of cream cheese that were literally 2 inches wide by 2 inches tall like a condiment dipping container restaurants and the bill came to just under 30 bucks. we went to several really great sit down places with full dinners and brunches for less than this for two of us. Ouch. Bagel prices are fair at about $1.50-1.75 when you buy a sick pack. But to charge over $4 for each little thing of cream cheese??? Or if I were to get just a single bagel with cream cheese and have it alone clock in at $5????? Crazy. I want to support local. I always do. I even have no problem whatsoever paying extra to do it!!! Happy to in fact!!! But this little shop needs to make some adjustments or I fear they might not make it. And when I asked kindly if it was really almost five bucks for one bagel with cream cheese the owner (I assume) had a strong response with "YEP! And we've been here for 28 years." If she would've responded with a simple "yes we pride ourselves on custom cream cheeses and homemade bagels and we've even had to raise prices recently because of corona to keep our staff on" I would have not only been so happy to give them my money but I would've given them an amazing tip to say thank you to the staff.
