On a recent trip home, I researched a great place for beer and food that could also handle meeting a group of people and this place came up. I was so thankful for the friendliness and responsiveness of the owners and set it to meet my family here. It exceeded expectations and is a great place in general to come with friends. Located in an old grocery store, the restaurant and beer bar is completely new. The main area has various sized tables and a few bar seats at the back. Everyone orders at the counter, so separate tabs are fine. They have a great draft beer selection, other drinks, and a fun food menu of smash burgers and cheesesteaks. I ordered the spicy cheesesteak and it was one of my favorite meals of the trip; prices are reasonable for the large portion size, you can easily share one. The bartenders were all welcoming and friendly, everyone working served whoever came up so it was efficient. To the left are refrigerators with packaged beer to go. Behind those are a hallway to the restrooms with mostly macro beers to be enjoyed at the location. This also leads to a really fun game room with pool, darts, pinball, and arcade games. I'd say my favorite part is the refrigerator to the right of the bar, which has all single cans and bottles to be enjoyed on premises. They have an amazing selection of local and regional craft beer, cans are super fresh. I personally had a bunch of very fresh Trillium, which is an excellent brewery I can't get at home. We ordered at the counter And then after trying to finding the water dispenser , two options on the wall or on the soda dispenser, Dah, free water Staff was very friendly and helpful, and room was well lit and had several / many tv screen playing sport recaps. I'm not a cheese steak fan but the spouse gave a chicken and mush a try and was happy with it, enough to say we will return. I had the union cheesesteak and was ok but thought it was dry the local lager helped to get it down Options include a less carb with salad or max carbs with fries. Personally I give it a revisit. (pictures before 2023 are their old location) Five stars across the board- food, beer selection, ambience, and five+ on service. This is family owned and operated and you won't meet a friendlier group of people behind the bar. They greet all of their customers by first name. I hadn't stopped by in several years and the owner still remembered me. The have the biggest beer selection in the area and the owner will be happy to describe them and recommend ones to try. The food selection is great and includes Asian fusion. I had the wings and they were tasty and much bigger than what most other places put on your plate. Union is an all around great choice. We came into the restaurant got seated, gave them our order and they said nothing to us. Besides OK. Go sit down. We waited an hour and we've asked 12 times if we could get our food and why it took so long and at the end they said they told us it would take 45 minutes and no they didn't. And we were already there for an hour. So even if it was 45 minutes or there are already 15 late. We got our money back and on my parents anniversary. We had to eat Wendy's and at the end. This location listed on yelp is the old location. New location is down the street across from Dairy Queen. We came on a Saturday night for dinner and drinks with a party of 8. You order up at the counter and wait for your buzzer to go off for food orders. Beer orders are completed at the counter as well. We ordered as couples and the wait time was 45min to an hour. The staff was friendly and informative of this information, however you would think with the someone simplicity of the menu the food would come out faster. Three out of the 4 orders came out around the same time and 1 took much longer. When it was received it was the wrong burger which furthered the delay in receiving food. Speaking for our order only, the hibachi fried rice was okay, it certainly lacked some important flavors and the steak was very tough and grisly. It would have been better with the shredded steak used for all other plates. The cowboy smash burger was anyrhing but smashed but tasted great. If the patties were truly smashed and crispy and the cheese were melted on the grill it would make this burger perfect. The dumplings were a great classic pork dumpling served with a ginger soy dipping sauce. Someone in our party ordered the cheeses teak fried rice, which had two slices of white American cheese thrown on top. I'd like to see maybe a provolone cheese mixed into it bevause the presentation wasn't very appetizing until it was all mixed together. It didn't look like there was much steak in it neither. The first on the outside seemed unassuming...BUT...the second you walked in you could tell how awesome this place is. The display of beers, some wines, the counter where you place your order, the employee (s) very nice all around. Seating was nicely organized and very clean. We were greeted and given menus and was told about the specials. We ordered our food, picked out our beer from the tap (taste tested beforehand) was given a beeper to pick up our food when ready. We were the only 2 in there on a Friday around 11:00 but as soon as we walked in and sat down....customers were coming and coming and the line was formed....nice to see how busy they were. I got Pork Fried rice which was fresh and yummy and plenty to eat for the price! Hubby got shrimp basket and fries and again for a very good price for the amount of food. I am very impressed at all the wonderful choices and yes! I ate pork...and I can tell you, it was the real deal! The Union Beer House replaced a childhood memory of eating at Country Garden six pack. My feelings are based off of food quality and the anger over the missing nostalgia from my childhoood. We went crazy and ordered about half the menu. Here's a quick review of the half of the menu we ordered. Breaded Mushrooms: Don't bother, they're beer battered and bland. Chicken Gizzards: I've never had gizzards. The actual meat was pretty tough, but that's kind of how I expected them to taste. They were aweseomely seasoned and had great flavor, I just didn't feel like fighting to eat these treats. Steamed Dumplings: These were actually really good but you have to eat them before they get cool, otherwise they're only okay and they can soak up a little too much of the soy sauce. Pork Egg Rolls: These were tasty, obviously home made and made in house. My wife and I were huge fans. Beer and Old Bay peel and eat shrimp: As a Californian now, I've been wondering why this is all over the east coast and nowhere to be found in California. My god these were excellent. Great broth, great flavor and cooked to perfection. We destroyed these like a two year old in a lego pile. I could eat these all day and night. They also have a massive selection of beer and rotating taps that you can get a growler filled at. If you fill it 11 times in a year, the 12th fill is on them. That's kind of cool. read more

Union beer house used to be my go to for beer. Great location, reasonable prices good funnily run place. However, tonight I witnessed a racial dispute between the owner and a regular customer. I watched as the owner did not ID 3 customers, even accepting a mans tattoo as a form of ID and then demanded an ID from the only black man in line. When the man pointed out the unequal treatment and provided examples of his past patronage of the union beer house, the owner ignored him and waited in everyone else. Once his wife came out and told the owner that the man was a regular the owner and wife got into an argument. I'm tolerant of many things but ignorance and unequal treatment isn't one of them.
