Was I seeing this place through my own beer goggles for the night. Let's just get into it. When we showed up in the area we had asked about what nightlife was like in the area. With it being in the middle of a cold streak we were told about several places in town that would fit the bill to have a night out. We made the rounds in town and then found ourselves here for the remainder of the night. I think what drew us here was that it looked like a dive from the outside and allowed smoking. There weren't many people in here for a majority of the night, so we kind of got to observe this place with the regulars in it. That really allows to see how the locals are in an area. It was interesting to say the least. Once the drinks started flowing we started to feel a little more comfortable in here. We started talking to the bartender to find out what was good to do besides the typical tourist stuff in the area. She was wonderful with suggestions, telling us about other watering holes in the vicinity and even beyond Gettysburg. We had inquired about LGBT friendly places within a short car ride and were basically told to go to Harrisburg or a small town in Maryland. At that point, that's when things started to get a little weird. After outing ourselves, things got a little uneasy for us. We ended up meeting the owner's grandson. He was great and seconded the suggestions the bartender made. But when he introduced us to the locals at the end of the bar, we kind of wanted to not say much. It actually made us feel unwelcomed after a bit of sitting near them. Kind of like all eyes were on us. After a few more minutes of that, we paid our bill and made it out the door. So the thing is that it's a great bar, if you're a local. Or maybe even if it's crowded, so there are other people to focus on. We liked everything, the freedom to smoke, the pricing, the bartender, but the atmosphere changed at some point and flipped the script. Would we go back? Maybe if it was nicer weather wise out, that would allow more people to be in here.

Each burger is characterized by the general it's named for. The General Buford, for example, is served with bleu cheese crumbles and horseradish (he's a cavalry officer, get it?) and the Robert E. Lee features a slab of Virginia ham. I ordered the General George Meade. Meade was a Pennsylvanian, so naturally this burger comes with a pile of Philly cheesesteak. A carnivore's delight, to be sure. No complaints here. And if I'm ever back this way, I'm curious to try the General Longstreet: it's served with carmelized onions and peanut butter. It was an interesting thicker cream cheese-ish dip which required spreading with the knife. The website lists a "weekly steak special" but none was to be found when we went. So we got the gyro which was decent and the Philly cheesesteak which was extremely salty to the point of being almost inevitable. The homemade chips (the only non upcharge size) were thick and crunchy. Both sandwiches were around $20 which felt overpriced for the quality. Other sides were available for an upcharge, which seemed not worth it on the existing bill. The service was good, the bathrooms were nice, and there was plenty of parking. The food was just disappointing. If you're more of a drinker, you may be able to overlook that.

Easily some of the best service we've had in a long time. We started with the Supreme Nachos, and these are definitely meant to SHARE! They were HUGE and absolutely loaded. The housemade chips were incredibly crispy, and I loved the addition of banana peppers. They added a tangy bite and different kind of heat alongside the jalapeños. Some of the best nachos we've had outside of a Mexican restaurant, and our table of four still only finished about half! My mother-in-law got the Reuben with onion rings and said it was the BEST Reuben she's ever had. That says a lot because it's one of her usual orders when eating out. She especially loved how flavorful and tender the corned beef was. My husband got the Tuesday special of 3 steak tacos for $10. The steak was tender and tasted like quality cuts of beef. His only criticism was that it could use more seasoning and that a housemade spicy ranch or signature sauce could really take the tacos to the next level. I got the fish and chips, and the haddock was MASSIVE! The thin, crispy batter stayed perfectly attached, and the fish was hot, flaky and tender. The very thin tail end was slightly dry, but it was such a small portion that it didn't take away from the meal. The biggest surprise was their housemade tartar sauce. Creamy, tangy and slightly sweet from the relish. Hands down my favorite tartar sauce I've had! The seasoned battered waffle fries were also delicious, and they give you a TON. The coleslaw wasn't personally my preferred style since I like a finely minced, sweeter and juicier slaw, while theirs was longer shredded and drier, but that's completely personal preference. Portions here are HUGE, so several meals could easily be shared or give you plenty of leftovers. We also loved the cozy neighborhood pub atmosphere with exposed brick, dark wood, baseball and Eddie Plank memorabilia, and moodier lighting. Between the food, atmosphere, huge portions and especially Aedan's wonderful service, Gettysburg Eddie's has officially earned a spot in our Gettysburg rotation. We can't wait to come back!

Cheesesteaks were good but on the small side for $17 and $19 (the latter on a gluten‑free bun), and a little light on the Cheese Whiz. That, plus a cider and a Coke, left the overall experience somewhat underwhelming.

While walking around Gettysburg, we stumbled upon an amazing restaurant called the Upper Crust. This restaurant is connected to two other places: a BBQ joint and an ice cream parlor. You can order from all three places while dining inside the Upper Crust. The inside of the restaurant is huge and has skee ball and pool tables in the back. The front of the restaurant is open, allowing you to enjoy the beautiful weather outside. We tried the sweet and spicy pizza, and it was absolutely delicious! The crust was perfectly crunchy, and the flavors were fantastic. The strawberry margarita was made from scratch and was really tasty! We sat at the bar, and the bartender was very attentive and hardworking. Overall, it was a perfect 10/10 experience, and I can't wait to go back and try more items from the menu! read more

Can I ask why if you advertise a pizza to cook in 90 seconds, why does it take almost 15 mins to receive 2 pizzas? Especially having 3 ovens operating on a Friday? The pizzas were dry, the bottoms were under cooked.. you can tell by the fire that the ovens were cold.. the chef did a poor job on sending pizzas out and controlling the temp.. either the kitchen staff is clueless or it's time to get a new chef.. you should really just use your back up gas oven instead of the wood to produce quality pizza. I notice your back up system under your ovens. Also when did it become ok to walk around the kitchen in flip flops? read more

Unique menu and cocktails, great atmosphere and service It is great to have another dining and lounge option in the area, especially one with a great menu and service. You can tell the kitchen uses fresh ingredients and every pizza I've tried has been delicious! Their cocktail menu is fun and offers some unique drink options that you don't typically find too many other places in the area. They've also got a nice craft beer list. 1 star isn't enough to describe my disappointment. We were having a good time until we found a hair in our pizza and plastic in the brisket sandwich. The worst part was when packing up the leftover pizza, we found an alive cockroach inside the pizza box. We called over the closest waitress to discuss the situation, and she walked off without offering any help. Love love love their food. The hummus was the best I've ever had and the hot fresh pita bread was also delicious. Their "light and bright salad" is unique and so tasty, and so is the mushroom pizza.
