Not smoked bbq!!!! Brisket tasted like it had a slight liquid smoke flavor and dried out. The brisket seemed blackened like they tried to reheat it on the grill and left it there. It reminded me of an over cooked thick cut bacon. Ribs had no seasoning on it and I needed to ask for a knife to cut them apart. They were so tough I ate one and was done. Green beans serving was scant and salty. I could literally crunch salt on my teeth. Corn bread was room cold and they cut a piece of cold butter and put it on top. Mac and cheese not baked like bbq Mac and cheese should be, but was the only thing that was tasty on the plate. Service was ok! It did take 5 mins before anyone came to front to seat me. I waited a good 5-10 mins after getting my food for server to come over to another table that just sat to ask for the knife. Just had a very disappointing dinner at Borough BBQ. Things started out great but ended up a big disappointment. The appetizer was very good(corn bites) The meals were just not good. We had a variety of menu items and all were just not good. The pulled pork and pulled chicken tasted like something you would buy frozen in a grocery store to heat and eat. Ribs were average at best. The brisket was very fatty and tasteless. Service was also lacking. We were brought things we didn't order and didn't get things we did order. I literally was brought my Mac and cheese after we had all finished our meal and the green beans came a few minutes before the Mac and cheese. No apology and no offer to remove it from our bill. It was removed after I requested. We were charged from corn bread which we didn't order but I just paid for it. For $155 for 4 people, it was not a good meal or experience. read more

I never send derogatory messages to any establishment, but I'm making an exception. We always have friends visit us, and I check every restaurant first. This afternoon I stopped by your place for the first time to check your chow. First on your menu is smoked spare ribs (your specialty?). When I ordered, the waitress informed me that you were out, but she'd check. I ordered a full rack. Somehow they found some ribs. I never checked the takeout order before I left. When I got home, a "full" rack was two cold three bone pieces stacked on top of each other. I've been smoking ribs for years, and these were not spare ribs - baby backs? The fat cap on top was larger than the meat, and they definitely were not smoked. Smoking eliminates the fat, and there is very little fat on top of spare ribs. There was no smoke taste, and no pink smoke ring. This meat was obviously left over from yesterday. I also ordered the brisket. I received eight thin pieces of cold leather, again obviously left over from yesterday. No smoke taste, and no smoke ring. I gave half to our cats, and threw the rest in the trash. I ordered the cornbread as a side, and received a piece so small that it was hard to split with my wife. The final indignity was my waitress having me navigate through an app to pay a tip. For what? It was take out! She didn't do anything but take my order; however, I did give her a few bucks for being very personable. No way I'm going to bring out of town guests to be embarrassed at your place. I have to begin this review by saying my husband is a big ole BBQ snob and he thought the brisket was some of the best he's ever had. We actually ate here twice during our visit to Gettysburg. One very cool feature is that you can also order from the neighboring restaurant, Upper Crust, which I did on our 2nd visit. The sides are a la carte, but they are plenty big enough for two to share. The mac n cheese and baked beans are really good. I would not recommend the fried green tomatoes, but since we're not in the South, I won't hold that against them! My husband wanted to try the sausage on our second visit, but he had to order the sandwich with no bread or toppings in order to get a small piece of sausage, according to him, it was worth it! The place is huge and its very nice and clean. It seems to be an amalgamation of an ice cream place, a pizza place, and a BBQ place. I tend to be suspicious of places that try to do too many things. That said, I had the ribs and my wife had the pulled pork sandwich. The ribs could be slightly more tender and as they came out to the table they did not have any flavor. I ordered the dry rub and tomato BBQ sauce with my ribs and those were outstanding. My wife said her sandwich was dry and needed sauce. I gave her some of mine but I'm not sure what she wouldn't get sauce with her sandwich. The service was outstanding. The service actually takes the place from 3 to 4 stars. read more

Came here on Friday before a 6pm ghost tour. It was empty but it was also not yet 5pm so that's okay. We ordered the roasted cauliflower with pesto. It was a whole head and the outside was coated in seasoning. The inside was barely cooked through. I couldn't cut it with the butter knife provided. It was super oily and the pesto was hard to find on the bottom of the plate. My son and I ordered the salad with brisket (him) and chicken (me). Both were super dry like it was day old meat. And there wasn't a lot of it for the price. The dressing was awful and neither of us used it. Brussel sprouts were good bc they were fried. The regular brisket my husband got was okay. This is a fairly new BBQ place just off Lincoln square in Gettysburg. The staff is friendly and the bar selection for beer and cocktails is as impressive as it is fun. With a drink and meal it will set you back about $20-$30/person depending on number of drinks. So why did I give it only 2 stars? The food. They're new and maybe had an off day, I hope so. The buffalo wings were set with a dry rub, no sauce and not even the usual flavor. So they were good, well cooked chicken but not what you'd expect. The fries were really good nicely cooked with a spice rub sprinkled on them it was enough to be special without heavy handed. There was a notable lack of paper towels for your hands. I don't mean they have to have rolls of them on the tables but at least offer. Then we got to the ribs. Where to start? The meat was over cooked to the point that wooden would be a good description. A few bits were less hard but the overall sense was of 'door stop.' The sauce was even worse. You are given a choice of sauces and they come in little ramekins. So it's not put on the hot pork and more important there was a sauce already on it, much too sweet and from it's texture and appearance it was put on with a pastry piping bag rather than ladled or cooked on the ribs on. I can see the intent and the promise of the place but as a BBQ place, ribs are going to be the major element and this has to be tightened up. They are very friendly and accommodating and new. So there is room for improvement but seriously. Keep an eye on the 'pit master' he's leaving these on far too long. read more

What a find! This is a great barbecue place. I've had the ribs twice, & they're fall-off-the bone delicious. I like them best with the sweet & tangy sauce option. My husband has had the brisket both times, & he raves about it. He also likes the sweet & tangy sauce. As for the sides, our no. 1 choice is the baked beans. They're delicious. They're also highly unusual as they have peaches in them, which adds a distinctive flavor. The French fries are good, too, but the seasoning is a little too strong for me. The most unusual option is the Mexican street corn, which is like a cold salad with corn & lots of spicy flavoring. read more

So we wanted to try somewhere new in Gettysburg. Place looked very clean and accommodated our party of ten. So first issue was no splitting checks and no multiple cards. I hate hearing this policy in a tourist town. Waiter was nice , but I thought it odd they were all wearing t shirts for the pizza place next door. My wife was the only one out of ten of us to get our food for several minutes which is always awkward ( and could be justified with split checks , but not the case) Then our food came out and it was small portions. No way did we receive half a pound of brisket. Very dry as well. Very expensive. Won't be back. This is not one of those 1- or 2-star reviews where restaurant is dirty or service is poor. Because it's quite clean. Understaffed, but good service. No, it's the food. First, selection is minimal. Unless you want a sandwich - and I did not - there are only three choices for BBQ meat. Then you realize that that price is for a single serving of meat only, no sides. And the sides are expensive, plus not what I usually like with BBQ. Well, cornbread goes well with BBQ, but $3 for the only bread on the menu? The appetizers looked more like BBQ sides. But there's only one of me. I asked if I could get 1/2 an order of any of the appetizers. Nope. Umm, there was only me plus one other table, and they would not accommodate such a simple request? When the food appeared, it was the least appetizing plating imaginable. The meat was dry, and splayed out in six thin slices on a plate by itself. No way I got 1/2 lb (8 Oz) of meat! BBQ sauce delivered in two tiny disposable containers. And the potato salad (mediocre) in its own bowl. No bread. Note too, salad wasn't even a menu choice. Summary: If you're looking for a BBQ meal, this place isn't for you. If you're a local eating solo, not for you. If you're a visitor to Gettysburg dining alone, not for you. If you're used to the concept of BBQ being a hearty, filling meal, accompanied by great comfort food sides, not for you.
