Employees chose to make a change to the closing time. Walking in around 6:20pm today resulted in be turned out of the store, because, quoting the girl working, "we close in five minutes and we have already turned off the registers". All we needed was four documents notarized a, less than a five minute task.  She nor the guy working had no sympathy or ownership of not being open during posted hours. The guy in the back just kept shrugging like he did not care.  After I requested the managers phone number did they seem to care but not enough to offer to turn the system back on to help us.  The lack of apathy and the body language of "it's not my problem" is without a doubt the most disturbing thing of the exchange. read more

I was in the store to ship a baseball bat in a standard bat box 34 x 3 x 3 the manager looks at it and says that there is an extra fee for its size, so instead of the normal $25 they wanted to charge $42. (he eyeballed the package) and didn't bother to measure it until after I questioned the extra 17 dollars. Ken the manager stuck to his guns and said this is how it is and every other employee was wrong. I'm actually happy I left. I found a different shipping store nearby that does UPS FedEx DHL and USPS was able to ship it with FedEx for $16. Now now I have a new place to ship. I assume ignorance on Ken's part. read more

We love that Amazon has paired up with The UPS Store for returns! It makes returning items when they don't meet the need or are defective or you just changed your mind without difficulty! I love that I don't have to package the item back up, print a label and all the other stuff -- they do it for me! All I need is the bar code from Amazon. They do have other services as well. We have not used any of the other services so I do not know how they compare cost wise to other shipping places, but for Amazon (or at least for Amazon Prime members) this is an easy way to return items! read more

The attendant made an incorrect label, never had me verify the label and off it went to THE WRONG ADDRESS, after paying an outrageous price! I worked with the manager to recover the package and there was no apology, no manners, and of course no refund! Use a different shipping service and save yourself a giant headache! read more

I have been shipping from this location for years with no problems, until around Christmas time 2012. I had sold an ipad on ebay that I Needed to ship and have delivered before Christmas. I took the unopened factory sealed device to this UPS Store for 2 day shipping. They asked if I wanted insurance, which I did. They then informed me that if I wanted insurance, they would need to re-box my shipment to insure it was packed correctly. I told them to go ahead. Once they saw my sealed ipad, they asked if they could open it. Of course I said no since it is factory sealed. Asking to open my shipment is a bunch of bull. It's none of their business what I am shipping, and it made me worry about my ipad being ripped off by an employee. In the end, my shipment arrived on time. However, I will think twice about shipping from this location since they may go through my goods. read more

I dropped off 3 Amazon return boxes for a friend who left the packages open so they could insert the required slip inside once they print off the UPS label at the UPS Store from the barcode Amazon sent. They actually charged me $3 for putting packing tape on these to reseal them. I usually go to PAK Mail, and they never nickle and dime me with this kind of thing. I will not use these guys again, and I ship a lot of packages. read more

Let's call these people what they truly are - thieves. I recently went to their store to ship a package - a gift from my elderly parents. After I paid them, they accepted the package, and I left. They opened the package (seems like a pretty major invasion of privacy - shouldn't they have called me to get my permission - or have me come in and open it???). And based on their criteria, they rejected it. I was pretty upset, because I couldn't get it home on the plane (didn't have luggage space) and it wasn't anything dangerous. When they contacted by phone to tell me, they also informed me that they would NOT be refunding my money - because I had shipped something that "didn't meet their standards". So they charged me $40 to ship a package that they refused to ship. A tip: There is a UPS location about 2 miles East of there at 7220 Tower Road where the people are polite, they don't charge outrageous markups, and are honest. Bottom line: It is their right to ship what they want. It is NOT their right to invade other's privacy, and to steal by charging for services they had no intention of providing. This store is an absolute scam-a worker said "no package ships for under $10" which is absolutely wrong. I stopped in right after the store had lost power after a big storm. The gentleman Fitz broke the news that they couldn't ship due to the system being down. I was clearly disappointed as I was going out of town and I had waited until the last day of being able to return something. He told me to write down the number on the QR code and he'd take care of it the next day when he came in. Not only did he take care of it the next day, he called me to tell me it was complete. He saved me $80 because had it not been dated that date, they wouldn't accept the return. Thank you for going above and beyond Fitz! read more

Wow! beware of buying postage at this store. I just got to the office after shipping two packages and buying two hundred stamps. The customer service was great but they charged me an 8 dollar surcharge for each roll of stamps. I called the store assuming there must be a mistake and was given the insightful comment. "that's what comes up in our system". Next time I will make the extra stop at the grocery store or the many other places that sell stamps around town at face value. BTW don't bother to call corporate they will tell you each store can set their own price read more

I have to agree with the others who have posted. I do feel they are id**ts and th***es. I dealt with this location many, many times when it was "Mailboxes, Etc." and never had any issues. I went in there today to make some copies. I had a booklet that I needed to make multiple two-sided copies of a number of pages. In as much as I had not used the copy machines in a long time I requested assistance. The first person could not figure out how to setup their own machine to do what I wanted. The manager (?) then came over to help. I had to explain at least 4 times what I wanted to do. He started cranking single-sided copies. I asked what he was doing because I was not paying for single-sided copies. He finally understood my request and got me moving. When I used this place in the past, single-sided copies cost maybe $.06 per copy. Two-sided copies cost about $.10 because there was only 1 sheet of paper instead of two. After I made all my copies I told the manager (?) how many two-sided copies I had and how many single-sided copies I had. He multiplied the two-sided count by 2 and added the single-sided count. He then charged me for that number of single sided copies. I asked why there was no price break on two-sided copies. His response? "Because we upgraded the copy machines." REALLY? Better, newer machines mean higher prices? I've passed through the doors there for the last time. Buyer Beware! read more

It listed clearly on the list of acceptable documentation, issued by our US government's Department of Homeland Security, that I could present something from column B + something from column C. I had a student ID with photo - #3 in column B. I also had my birth certificate - #3 in column C. Not sure what these 2 other yahoos are complaining about. I've been a customer here since before the new owners took over and turned the store around. I was in the shipping business for 10 years and it's one of the hardest businesses to profit from. The only way you make money at a store like this is from good customer service and strict compliance with federal/ state laws as well as franchise standards. Terral- You're complaining about having your package opened to allow for it to be insured. A package can't be insured when you pack it yourself. Ipads are notorious for being shipped having been damaged prior (won't power on, screen is cracked, backs dented). People insure these damaged Ipads and knowingly ship them in that state. Bad shipping services ship them without checking and then have claims filed against them because the seller claims it must have been damaged in transit since "it was in working order when i shipped it out", good stores take precautions to avoid this. Your review gives this store more credibility than you probably intended. Tim T- What were you shipping that didn't meet standards? You complain that they wouldn't ship it yet you don't include what it is you were shipping. I'm assuming it was something that's probably ILLEGAL to ship. They were smart enough to open up your package to check (you probably made up a bad story regarding the contents and their employees most likely found the package suspicious upon handling it). Should they ship drugs, needles, guns? Hell no. The fact that they had the intuition to check and were correct in that the contents weren't up to standards shows what a good franchise this is. And should you get your money back?Depends on what you were shipping. If it was something illegal to ship then I don't think you should. Usually people who try to rip off businesses don't get reimbursed when they're caught so good for them. This is a great little store, and yes, the shipping business can be frustrating to people who aren't familiar with how it works. However, after dealing with people who try to bend the rules and cheat the system personally, I lost my tolerance for such customers and my business suffered. I commend these owners for keeping that store running the way they have. This is not a complaint about the shipping. This is a warning to be alert when dealing with the counter staff. They will engage you in conversaton and then cleverly add and upsell things that you have no need for and hope you do not notice. And it worked - I was inattentive and stupid when I signed a receipt for $65 to ship two small boxes and two padded envelopes. Driving home, I went what the heck? My receipt showed I was charged for two 16x16x12 boxes and shipping materials. The USPS priority flat rate box from the post office that they so kindly told me they would take care of as a covenience, they put their own shipping label on and charged me $21.98 ground. The flat rate on it was $12,50 for two to three day delivery. A padded envelope of papers cost $13.82 ground to New Jersey. And there was a small package of baby clothes to New Mexico for $`17.60 ground.. I called the store and got the same gentleman who representated himself as the manager. He told me the boxes were to protect the padded envelopes. The packaging materials were needed because there was a padded envelope and a the small box to New Mexico and they shipped together in the $6.00 box and packaging materials were needed to protect them. The USPS flat rate box, he assured me the post office is perfectly okay with UPS using a free box provided by the government for post office customers. Going to check on that one. I didn't think anything could make the post office look good! Go to Staples for your UPS shipping or another vendor that provides the same service without the threat of robbery. read more
