I have only dropped off Amazon returns here, but have had nothing but good experiences! The place is usually very busy, but the employees are always friendly and move people through quickly. I love the new self-scan kiosk. The parking lot is somewhat crowded and narrow but again, things seem to move through fairly well. They desperately need a drive up window, why should I have to wait in line or even go inside for a prepaid ready to mail package? The stores are the awkward mix between the annoying and complicated post office and trying to sort out the terrible online UPS site. There's decent customer support here for questions, some good printing services, and easy to find location with lots of parking. But prices on large packages are price gouging insanity, I highly recommend PirateShip for savings and use it for all my personal and business needs to save with a free account which gives access to corporate rates. read more

I love the Bloomington UPS Store. It's staffed by wonderful people. And every time I go in there, they take care of my needs quickly and efficiently. I've been their customer for 6 years now; received packages there, bought tape there, shipped items from there... I have dealt with nearly every single staff member who has been employed there throughout the past 6 years; never have had any reason to complain about how any staff member has ever treated me. Of course, I've never asked any staff member to do something against company rules, either. Which is the basis for all the negative reviews I see here -- asking staff to do things that are impossible and expecting them to comply without saying "no." And fwiw, the word "no" is not an act of rudeness; to someone who feels entitled to bend reality to their wishes, hearing the word "no" must be a terrible thing. So imho, "The UPS Store" location in Bloomington is great. And it's staffed by wonderful people -- people who do their jobs very well! Highly recommend. read more

Had a sticker on my door saying I missed my package went to the ups store the next day, still nothing. Was told to come back after 1. And still not there. Today is day 4. I was told they would contact the hub that was 2 days ago. I was told the manager would call me today and nothing. Started an investigation online today and getting a replacement sent out hopefully tomorrow. Just ridiculous. Do your job, for a multi million dollar company it can't be that hard right? read more

They won't accept UPS shipments billed to an account number. I Find it strange that The nearby FedEx Office store will do all things FedEx but this particular UPS Store refuses similar requests. They have lost my personal business now that I would have been happy to run through here. Also, they charge $2 for a piece of tape! Imagine if a restaurant charged for ketchup! Same thing in my mind!! Ridiculous! Lesson learned. Be helpful to all customers, even if this visit you're not making a big profit. Otherwise, you lose any and all future business. I never really thought I would write a negative review for a UPS store, but my awful experience at this store has compelled me to. It's interesting that the store appears to have pretty unflattering reviews both on Google Reviews as well as here. If my experience was anything to go by, the ratings are understandable. I was at the store trying to process a return using a pre-paid label. The label was printed at the store, but we were not informed ahead of time that this would incur a $3-ish charge. We were just surprised and speaking to the employee about the unexpected charge, when a manager (Shane), took my packages, dropped them before me and took the labels into his hand and said "This is what the charge is if you don't want to pay it, it's really simple. You can take the packages, I can rip up the label and we can call it a day." We were taken aback at SUCH uncalled for rudeness. We weren't really even disputing the charge, we just wanted to know why we were being charged when the company for which we were making the returns (Ann Taylor/ Loft), had not suggested that charges would be incurred. It was a simple clarification that we sought. Which, I might add, was progressing fine until the obnoxious manager inserted himself into the discussion in such spectacular fashion. Also, he later claimed that what he did wasn't rude at all and all the was doing was informing us of the option to not pay and leave. Ummm...if plonking packages in front of customers who were just asking for a clarification isn't rude, I really, really don't know what is. Also, as a customer I don't need to be "informed" that not proceeding with a voluntary transaction and looking elsewhere is an option. That's always an option, which we did eventually did exercise, by going to a different UPS and printing our labels for a few cents at FEDEX. I have truly never faced an experience so awful while dealing with shipping needs at all. Ever. Please pick another UPS store. read more

Now seeing this stores low rating it makes a lot of sense, I wish I could give zero stars. I just tried to drop off a package with a pre-paid return label and the guy ask what was in it. First, and most importantly, that's none of your business. It's certainly reasonable to ask if the package contains anything federally regulated / controlled but if it's not a regulated item frankly it is none of your business. I responded to the question saying I was shipping a trigger not thinking anything of it, it is after all simply a curved piece of aluminum. I was strongly told that they do not ship firearms and that I'd have to go to the UPS terminal to drop of my package. I responded that I wasn't shipping a firearm and that it was in fact only a trigger, literally a curved piece of aluminum and they said the main UPS terminal had the proper licensing to handle firearms. I again tried to explain I wasn't shipping a firearm but they wouldn't have it. They need to be educated on shipping laws surrounding firearms, more specifically what is considered a firearm and what isn't. If you're anti-2A that's fine, just say so rather than trying to hide behind a license that doesn't exist because that just makes you look really stupid. Regardless, they won't be getting any more of my business. **Edit after store comments below: If what you're saying is true then my review is still correct. State that you're contractually not able to accept firearm parts rather than trying to hide behind "licensing" that doesn't exist for random pieces of plastic and metal. I don't fault you if you really are contractually obligated to refuse firearm parts, but clearly and politely stating that to your customers would go a long way. I wouldn't say the employee was unkind about it, just very short and standoffish. read more

i called ahead of time because I cannot wear mask. they rudely said you won't come I. Here without mask and I said that's why I'm callbig to see if you come out get packages. He said again yes because you're not coming in here without on. ( I do have 2 documents as to why I can't wear one) Then when he came outside he was rude and giving me a dirty look. I went to The UPS Store to send an overnight letter along with a money order to a law firm with which I am doing business. The payment was needed for my account with the firm and was due at the firm the following day. I requested an overnight envelope for mailing my paperwork. I have been to The UPS Store for this same matter in the past and got the overnight envelope without incident. This time though I was questioned about my paperwork. First I was asked if I intended to pay shipping costs for the overnight envelope. I wouldn't have gone into the store if I didn't have money to pay for the overnight envelope. I was also asked what type of documents I was mailing. I was expected to answer beyond just saying that I had documents to mail. I do understand safety and/or legal issues involved in mailing certain items to the point where those items are prohibited (example: aerosol cans). I was mailing paper and I had used their service before to the point where I had an account with them. This time though I was questioned about my mailing and expected to say exactly what I was mailing. When I said that I was mailing a money order along with a letter, the attendant said that money orders were prohibited and showed me a list of items prohibited from being mailed out of their store. Given that I had mailed the same things in the past, I didn't know why I couldn't just continue to mail from their store. I was visibly upset and frustrated and ended up having to take my business elsewhere. The attendant had no reaction to my upset. It seemed like it was just another day for her. Again, I understand that certain items are unsafe and/or illegal to mail. I didn't think that mailing a letter and a check made me public enemy number one. read more

Employee who was "helping" it's picked up each package, flipping them upside down and shaking them before asking if there were fragile contents inside. Regardless of what items are in the boxes, this is unacceptable. I'm now expecting my grandkids to open Easter boxes that look like war zones and contain broken candy, cookies, and toys. The shipping rates are so much higher than I recall ever paying through UPS. If this is a going trend, I'll take my business elsewhere. read more

The slowest ups store I've ever been to. Unfortunately I'm here pretty often but I try to go to the Champaign store as much as possible to avoid this place. Your best bet is to buy a label online and just drop off your package. You'll save some money that way too. read more

I went here once before to ship something and didn't have any issues, except that the staff were unfriendly. The second time, I didn't have my box pre-taped. The attendant then informed me that it would be $2 to tape my box shut. $2?! For a foot long strip of tape?!!!! I realize it's only $2, but this is a matter of principle. They're now making a significant profit off of everyone who doesn't tape their own things. 25 or 50 cents I would understand, but $2 for a piece of freaking tape is just asinine considering a hundred feet of tape is probably $5 at most. I clarified with the attendant that this is strictly the owner's policy and not a UPS corporate policy, which makes me believe the owner must be a profit hungry, conniving bastard. For this reason alone, I will never return to this establishment and I suggest you skip it entirely. read more

DO NOT DEAL WITH THIS LOCATION. Horrible service. The owner and Employees are very good deceiving customers. I had them pack and ship a box containing an expensive item for me. UPS damaged the contents in shipping and now the claim has been denied because the people at this UPS Store are saying they did not pack this item. Nothing could be further from the truth and now I am out the $1500.00 this item was insured for. Amazing that these people can remain in business with such horrid practices. HORRI CUSTOMER SERVICE. totally understand why this store has horrible ratings. it's a first for me to drop off a package with Amazon labels and I get interrogated for what is in the package. The man there needs to grow a personality and one of the clerks had no idea what she was doing there's five people in there, one working the rest of them standing around talking. If I owned the store they would all be fired. It was shipped to me VIA UPS FROM AMAZON AND AMAZON SENDS LABEL TO SHIP BACK SAME WAY. Don't make excuses for the horrible lack of customer service. I went in yesterday to hand in a pre-paid box from LL Bean. There were a few people in line ahead of me so I asked the attendant if I could just leave the box on the counter as I have done in the past. He snapped at me and yelled (in front of the whole store), "Just...please...we'll get to you when we get to you!!!" I was so embarassed and angry. I have never in my life had such poor treatment from a store clerk. I will never go to that store again. In addition, they charge $2 for a piece of tape, which I think is shameful. For starters, I have learned that they are NOT affiliated with UPS. They are merely a terrible access point. The "manager" was rude and unapologetic about the fact that I received a notification that my package was ready for pickup but in fact was not. Instead, I got a cold dismissal of any complaints about both not receiving my package when I was notified, and about how I was treated. I will NOT be a customer here again. read more

I have always had a good experience at The UPS Store. There is a tape fee and it is understandable. From my understanding they are franchises, and they need to cover their cost's. When making a return that didn't work out for you, the UPS store shouldn't have to loose out on money to return and tape it for you. Thankfully I didn't have a rude employee experience but I felt like they really hike up their prices when you buy a box from them to ship something. I shipped a present and the box was $25. I HAD to ship it that day so I just went with it, but later on I saw similar box sizes for much less. I get that they want to maximize profits but I felt that the customer is really being taken advantage of. Also charged me a $3 tape fee to seal the box. FedEx doesn't charge for computer use to print a label and gladly offers to tape boxes for free. Scratch off the UPS Store as Place I will do Business with here in town. $3.00 to have someone tape the lid of a box for me, because it's not their shipping label (it's UPS corporate shipping label, so they're not making as much $ off of the package)?? Their shipping label, no charge to tape the same box. No ty! I will go buy some tape and bring my box back. Owner or manager told me it was to cover the cost of the overhead for the tape and for the person taping the lid shut. In my two experiences with this location I have not had any problems with shipping or with rudeness. I'm only giving two stars because I hate the way the store is heavily perfumed. I can hardly breathe when I'm in there because of the smell. It might be employees who love fragranced laundry products, it might be left over scents from customers who are a scent lovers, but something needs to be done to get the place aired out. I will never ship anything out of there if it needs to get to the recipient without being all stunk up. read more
