The people who run this store are exceptionally attuned to providing the finest services. I know this is a UPS store but the ways in which the service can subpar are just about limitless. I ended up going to FedEx and had no issues. Went in to ship an item I sold on eBay. I didn't have my scale with me and thought it would be easier since I was already out to just go to UPS and have them weigh the package so that I could purchase the label though eBay since I already had it up on my phone just needed the weight. The employee at the store said " I can absolutely not allow you to use our $700 scale to weigh your package because we don't make any money that way." From my understanding UPS Stores are individually owned and have a right to allow or not allow services based on their discretion. Regardless of the fact that it was still being shipped through UPS and they are a UPS Store. Package ended up weighing 1lb10oz so it wasn't a large or extremely heavy package that would break their $700 scale. read more

This store constantly overcharges and tries to rip you off. I tried to ship a poster and they said it would be $60. I know this to not be true because I shipped one exactly like it two days earlier at a different store and only cost $13. So I went back to that store and guess what the price was $13 again. I mainly go here for Amazon returns. It always take them less than a minute to finish everything. So far everything was perfect. This location is adequate, unless you arrive 5 minutes before the closing time posted on their door. I usually go during the lunch hour with no issue in service. Today, however; I couldn't get away and rushed to get their before they closed. I checked on line and saw they close at 6:30. I'm only a few minutes away so I hopped in the car and got their at 6.25. Saw that there were two customers in line, walked up to the door, pulled on it and it was locked. The clerk shook his head and waved his finger to turn me away. I used to work in retail and fast food. We were told we open and close based on the hours posted, not a moment earlier. I see locking the door at 6:30, but before what's stated on the door? Pretty disappointing. So... if you are pressed for time and close to the hours posted, don't bother. This UPS store won't provide the service you are looking for. read more

So I went back to the store. I only had one item, not thirty as implied in the store's reply. Still received the same cold shoulder. The staff was polite and friendly with on customer I front of me, but cold to me and three others. I would like to point out another review reported receiving the same type of service. The reply from the location was rude and went so far as to say the reviewer was not telling the truth. Both replies, to that reviewer and mine, were defensive and did not put quality service first. I have been coming here for years. I initially only used it to drop off Amazon packages and they were always so friendly I started using it for all my shipping needs instead of the post office. I would often spend more money just to come to the UPS instead of dealing with the post office. I went there today and apparently I was supposed to pack the package before dropping it off for Amazon. Oops. Done that before and in the past I'd just buy a box from UPS and no big deal. Today there was an employee named Karen there (if that's even her real name she was SO RUDE). She rudely told me to read the instructions as soon as I showed her the barcode. Ok sure. She told me how they charge for tape - ok no problem I have money, but she was so rude about it and walked away not even offering me any tape to pay for! I asked her what her name was and she said Karen and when I asked for a pen to write it down she rolled her eyes and said it's like the easiest name ever and refused to give me a pen! I went to leave and was walking out the store and she was STILL yelling at me from across the store. Then another guy that works there (he said his name is Enoch) got involved and cornered me saying the customer isn't king. Like WHAT?! I never said it was! I'm soo nice to all them! I honestly felt threatened. I had my back up to the door and they were both yelling at me ! She also said the nice guy that's usually there doesn't even like dealing with any customers and that's why he's not in front anymore. Every time I've been in there before they've been so friendly but the employees working today were hostile and rude. read more

Went to the ups store yesterday at 1153 S Lee St, Des Plaines, IL This is the the 3rd or fourth time that I have had issues with them was dropping off 4 packages had the scan code they told me I had to pay for a shipping label and packing , and it clearly shows on the site when I was scanning the codes it said just bring in packages no labels needed, they said I had to prove it , took Items home called Amazon they said they are sorry for the trouble and that they could have just printed a label for me at no cost Amazon also contacted ups and have me down for a scheduled p/u on Thursday , will never go back to this location again ! Searched for a shipping and multi- task delivery, packing, office service for gifts, products , and other items sent to recipients. Initially the service was terribly rude knit picking and unreasonable charging for every small thing; with the first few visits and then was approached by "Mel" who went out of his way to assist with the little things and suggested many unknown fantastic ideas to make things and our needs much more conveniently than earlier planned. Helped get the numerous boxes, gift packages, and returns from out of our car (elderly parents accompanied on delivery trip and hard getting into the store and carrying the boxes;) made transition for them sooo easy. Mel is very accommodating to all shipping needs: He wont rudely turn you away like most grumpy staff would. Instead he assists with your packages so they arrive safely and in one piece to the recipient. I had a box USPS FLAT OUT DENIED to ship, claiming it was oversized. I went to UPS shortly after and met Mel, who helped me rearrange and repackage so it gets to my family in California in time for the holidays. read more

Poor customer service. Store manager was curt and dismissive. Will charge you for tape and any little item used. When asked why they charge $10 for tape (when other ups stores don't) the store manager replied "we are a retail store not customer service store." read more

The most unhelpful guy works here. His name is John. He is probably also the owner. He is outright rude & extremely unprofessional. He simply refused to do a notary, because he doesn't want to be in any trouble!! I mean, seriously dude?! Why open a business when you don't want to run it professionally and not want to cater to the clients?!! I hope UPS notices this and cancels their license or whatever. And this is not the first time. He "graciously" let me have 2 pieces of his Scotch tape but told.me next time he'd have to charge me for it. Ridiculous customer service.
