The customer service here is out of control. The dark haired, young, male is rude and obnoxious. Another example of an entitled teen or young adult who loathes their job. Sorry you have to work, but its not my problem. While I have been here several times and never appreciated the attitude, I have finally decided to complain. The Sebastopol UPS store is the highpoint of my day, for receiving and sending mail. I get useful town gossip (never malicious), share periodicals I've finished with the staff, who will hold mail for me on frequent travels, sign for FedEx and UPS deliveries so that I don't have to be there. A terrible Experience at UPS on Blithedale. I sent two letters to the UK. I was advised that I needed to pay $122 for each ($244 in total) in order for them to arrive within two weeks. That was Feb 5th. As of today the tracking code says estimated delivery is Sept 22nd. I called the store to ask for help and was simply fobbed off being told this was an estimate and you need to call USPS, the carrier they used. I have never ever had such bad service and been fobbed off so blatantly, especially in a case where I paid almost $250 for sending two envelopes. Mis-sold and abysmal customer service. I suggest you avoid at all costs. read more

I would NEVER EVER go into this UPS store ever again. Never in my life have I experienced such rude and horrible customer service. I asked how much shipping would be to get my smallish box to Southern California and the man told me $50. Didn't weigh it, look at the zip code, nothing. He assumed it was wine and pressured me to open my box to prove to him that it wasn't and if it wasn't he'd ship it for free. Why would you be confrontational and combative with a customer within the first 60 seconds? My package was not wine and I proved it by shaking it up and down to to prove it was toys for my friends new baby. However I didn't open it to satisfy the jerk because I NEVER would I ever give my business to such a rude human. Out of principal I left and will never return here. Go to another UPS store or FedEX. I was in mill valley, I walked in at 5pm seeking a Notary, one simple signature. The store employees, a young man and older lady got into an argument about who did the last one. Turns out they were both notaries. At first I couldn't tell if the were fighting for my business or trying to avoid it. The woman filing papers said she was "off the clock" since 4:30pm and could not help me. The man said he had to make a phone call, grabbed his cell phone and ran to the back room. The woman approached me and said she could help me, but she would have to charge me the mobile fee, that's $10 extra, $20 total, which made no sense. I told her I would wait for the young man to finish his personal call. I waited patiently, and could hear the guy talking. After about 10 minutes I asked the mobile notary, who was still working in the store to check on the young man. She came back and said he needed a few more minutes. On the counter was the business card of the manager, i reached for it to send him an email, then the man came out, who stated to help me but when he saw I had his managers card, then He stopped cold and I asked if I had a problem with the service. What service? Both employees had been avoiding me for 15 minutes. Don't waste your time at the alto plaza ups store, drive toward Tiburon where east Blithdale turns to Tiburon boulevard, next to nugget market to that ups store where frank will take care of you. read more

Slippery people, beware! It takes a lot to make me angry enough to write a review for a UPS store. I feel I was overcharged. I mailed a small package but it had a necklace in it and I wanted it insured and someone to sign for it at the other end. The guy said he needed to fill out the address on his computer, then told me "$70". What! That is way too much. "But if you are mailing it to Michigan that is a long way and to get it there safely you need to pay this". That sounds like way too much, I said. He replied "It won't get there till Monday and you need it to go air, not ground to be safe". I said "No, it is just too much money for a small package and that price doesn't seem right". He kept maneuvering how much things cost. It was all very fast Then it was to be $30. I said even that sounds too much for a small package. And I had to get back to work, and there was a line, and he said it was $15 just for the insurance so the price was right. And 3.50 for the box...(I had asked for a box to put my already wrapped box in, as the tape was loose on my box). He filled out the mailing label and said he had to do it instead of handing it to me, all out and charged me $42. Well, why? The receipt only had the $3.50 for the box and the rest of the pricing was not broken down. I asked him to break it down and he said there was a line of people behind me, and there was, and I knew he was ripping me off, but I needed to go, and needed the item shipped safely and signed for, and in my head tried to piece the prices together for each. I rarely get ripped off, and it felt it every inch of the way. I won't go to that store again. Look at all the other one star reviews from upset people. I have to admit, it is really weird to be writing a negative review for a UPS store-- especially since I'm not typically one to write reviews at all. This said, I have to agree with the many negative ratings of this particular UPS store. Historically I have always had such positive experiences going into UPS stores-- I have found every other location to consistently provide great service and friendly people. However, this particular location is by far one of the weirdest and most unfriendly places I have ever visited... period. At first I thought I may have just caught a few unfriendly team members, but notoriously every single time I drop off a package here, the person at the counter looks irritated to be providing any kind of service (even for just an easy 1 package drop off). The people here always seem so unhappy. What in the world is going on with the ownership/management at this particular location? I agree with the previous comments urging a higher level of leadership to look into what's going on operationally within this business. From now on, I will be making a point to drive across town in order to drop of packages at the other Mill Valley location-- which I encourage others to do as well. The other location is a COMPLETELY different, and wayyyy more positive and professional, experience. Places like this one should not continue to remain in business, so I will not be supporting it going forward. read more

This is the oddest thing - seeing negative reviews about a business I've used for ten years now, with nothing but good results. I have a mailbox at this store. I buy cards and packaging here. I ship often from here. They forward mail when I travel. They call me when a package arrives. They are unfailingly courteous to me. In all the times I've been in here - at least once a day for years, I have never seen any member of this staff, nor the owners, ever be rude to anyone, not even during very busy season when there are lines. It's hard to understand what the critics here describe. I'm not saying these things didn't happen, but I AM saying that I've never seen anything remotely approaching bad behavior here - ever. Wish I could give zero. Used this office to do some printing. Came in the day after it was expected to be completed and was told that it was not completed. When I asked if it could be done while I waited ( was only about 16 pages of print). I was told that only one man there was able to print and he was not available. When I asked for a refund since the product was not available, I was told I needed to get the refund from the UPS call center. Upon calling UPS, they reported the store is supposed to give the refund. The manager just kept giving me dirty looks as if I was crazy for asking for the product I paid for. Never again. Im not sure if the owners are aware of how poorly trained their employees are. read more

The new owner decided that going overdue three months was grounds for getting one's mailbox closed down. I've been using the same mailbox for the last decade, and whenever in the past I've gone overdue I've simply caught up later. I even picked up mail a few days before it was shut down and they gave me my boxed mail without warning me that a shutdown was imminent. Now I've had several months worth of mail marked return to sender, including tax and legal forms, because the owner is petty and vindictive about going a few months overdue. read more

This place is good if you want to send boxes, pick up mail, buy birthday cards or make copies. DO NOT go here to print. Its really too bad, you would think in this day and age they would have a computer and a printer or at least know what a thumb drive was and be able to print some docs. But if you want to print its $3.50 for "the service" plus the price per page. And they can't print word docs. Since there is nothing else around, it would be really nice if they would step it up and offer printing. And the people who work there are hit or miss. A couple nice ones and a couple who seem to have walked in from the street and are just kinda in zombie land. They don't really know anything, they are just keeping warm in there or something. I would have given this place 0 stars if possible. I tried to ship something 3 day via UPS. The guy who worked there quoted me $109+ for an envelope that weighed 0.46 lbs to go from CA to FL and the fastest it would go was 4 days. I told him that this was unreasonable and he told me those were my only options. I went online and looked at ups.com where I was able to ship 2 day air with AM delivery for $28.46. I went back to the store, got my package back and got a refund. I printed my own label and shipped for a quarter of the cost and twice as fast. When I told the guy that I was able to get 2 day for a much better price he just looked at me with a blank stare. I will never ever go to this place again and recommend that others use UPS.com for their shipping needs and then schedule a free pick up. I wish that there was a negative number of stars. Like my experience was so bad that I feel like the owner owes me a drink or something. The owner clearly does not understand that customer service is about repeat business, especially in a neighborhood store like this one, and has hired people who love to smirk at customers when they are implementing the bizarre policies that the owner has created. The woman ahead of me brought in a heavy box that was delivered to her home by mistake. The guy behind the counter said, "we can't take it." He actually said that if she left it there, he would carry it outside and leave it on the ground outside. Nevermind that the sign on the door and all over the place it says UPS...evidently they are not affiliated with UPS. what? He said that she had to call the driver to pick it up. How in the world would she know who the driver is? And don't they have drivers coming all day to pick up boxes? The owner put in place a policy that they don't help out customers like that. Then it was my turn. I had two boxes to ship, and it was my very first big shipment for my skincare line. It was supposed to be a celebration, but instead...it was a nightmare. He asked me in an offering sort of way, "Are you going to need tape?" Yes, I said. Then he said, "we don't provide tape for customers with pre-paid shipping labels". In other words, only tape for paying customers. I said, I just need about two feet of tape. He said again, numerous times, and pointed to a big sign that says they don't provide tape for pre-paid lables and offered to get the manager. "Go ahead!" I said! I was desperate! I had to seal the boxes! There was a huge tape dispenser right next to me on the counter so I said that I am going to use it. I picked it up and he tried to wrestle it away from me. He said he was going to get the manager again and I said fine. Then he came out and said that he was going to charge a dollar for the tape. "I don't care!" I said. Geez, charge me $5, I don't care! He could have just said that in the first place. Instead I was seething mad and freaking out completely. I actually yelled at him once my boxes were all ready to go. I told him he should have just told me in the first place that he needed to charge me a dollar instead of going through that whole thing. He claimed that he did tell me, and probably will if asked again, but given that I spent $7 on a card, clearly he didn't, because I would not have gotten upset at all about paying $1 to tape up my very first ever shipment. You blew it whoever you are miss owner. What a nightmare. It just occurred to me that my boxes were left at that location, I truly hope that something bad doesn't happen to them. The other customer wasn't that upset, but the owner decided to butt in, WHILE he was talking on his cell phone. He said some hostile things to me about needing to watch myself, and when I responded, he talked over me saying he was on the phone. I said, 'Then why are you talking to ME?" at which point, he flipped me off! read more

I've lived here 25 years and never had any problem with this store before today. Staff were always helpful and pleasant. Today they were shockingly rude. AT&T had given me a box and instructions on how to wrap my old modem. I gave this store the info as AT&T had instructed and the clerk very rudely snapped at me that they would not ship for free as AT&T had promised because it was an old modem that AT&T won't pay to ship. I insisted that what he was telling me was the opposite of what AT&T had told me and that obviously somebody was wrong. He insisted in an unpleasant way that it wasn't he who was wrong. I tried to work with him but to no avail. His tone and body language were nasty as he pointed to a code number on my info sheet and said they won't ship that item. I pointed out to him that he was looking at the wrong number, whereupon he became even more angry, ripped open my box, tore out all the contents, dropping some on the floor, scanned the modem itself and realized that AT&T had indeed prepaid the shipping. He followed that with no apology, just more surly behavior. I asked the (female) manager if he was new there, and he suddenly announced that he didn't like my attitude, that I needed to "learn a lesson" (yes, his exact words) and that he was refusing to serve me -- and was throwing me out of the store. He told me to go to Tiburon and look for the UPS store there, and he shoved the remains of my ripped up box back in my face. I have never in my life been thrown out of a store or been treated like this by any store employee. I didn't have time to go to Tiburon, so what the heck, I apologized to him (even though I felt I had done nothing wrong) and once he seemed to feel he had "taught a lesson" to me and humiliated me, he wrapped up the modem in a different box, throwing out another item (the modem stand) and a note that I had attached to the modem. I asked him to keep those items with the modem but he and his manager refused, tossing them in the trash with a gesture that demonstrated pure contempt.. What happened to all the years of pleasant employees at this store who knew how to act professionally? Does this store now pay its employees so little that it can't get people who are able to handle basic customer service? Is this store making so little money that it's on the verge of going out of business? I see that I am not the first customer to have this experience, so something is seriously wrong in this location. So sad that after so many years of good experiences with good staff, things have to turn this way. read more
