The UPS Store - this guy was rude to me - Shipping Centers Near Me - New York, New York

Ridiculously slow. No sort of help or guidance from the ONE employee working with a 6 person line backed up out the door.

They will take advantage of you here. They charged me $16 for a box, the receipt said I was charged for a box that was 6x6x42 inches and the box they used was 6x6x12 inches. I told them I was over charged and they just pointed at the paper and said it's what they charged and fought me on it. This is not the first time it's happened at this store. I've been to this place only once, and unfortunately it the guy opened the store about 45 minutes late. It seems as if this is a common occurrence at this location. I was a bit annoyed because I was planning to pick up a package on the way to work so the worker's tardiness threw me off a bit. To avoid disappointment and annoyance, I would recommend calling the store and confirming that it's open before arriving to pick up or drop off a package. read more

Kareem helped me at the last minute. I needed packing slips but he was dealing with an irate customer that couldn't tell the difference between Amazon and UPS, Kareem handled it pretty well. I appreciate the fast service and multitasking. The pick-up driver had to wait a bit since the store was closing at 8pm, but I was accommodated, happy to get my packages off. Outstanding Customer Service I went there a few times back in March & after seeing how good the service was I decided to make this MY UPS store. The WOW factor at this location is Sany - he goes above & beyond for his customers (Juan is also great & always willing to help too). There are times I'm downtown & close to another UPS store & I'll still come uptown to this location.I ship 8-12 pkgs per week, so it's nice to know that Sany takes the time to set-up my shipping labels the way I want, so my customers recognize my shipments. Once he even paused his lunch break to assist me. It's nice to know good companies & service still exist. read more

I bought a total of 20 boxes from this place for a move despite knowing they were overpriced (18³ $7.99, 16³ $6.99, 14³ $5.99) mostly because I figured the boxes would be clean and that the store would not run out, service was good, when the dude behind the counter was slammed with customers he stayed calm enough and when my box buying got a little overwhelming he was patient, my boxes were bagged, the store was open on Memorial day, convenient hours in that I was able to pick up boxes after the train ride home from work, all good whatever. read more

I've been to this location on several occasions to pick up packages and have never had a problem. The customer service is decent and I'm usually in and out with my package in hand in less than 5 minutes. The train is also right on the corner so I can get back home quickly. read more

I had a terrible experience at this UPS location a few weeks ago, specifically with the manager. I want to emphasize that the other guy who was working that day was kind and helpful. This was Nov 30, exactly 10 calendar days after the delivery attempt on 11/20. The manager, however, who should be the one MOST concerned about providing excellent customer service was rude and dismissive. First off, just so you all know, when a package doesn't get delivered to your home on the first attempt, you are automatically expected to go get it yourself. No 2nd attempts will be made. Second, I missed my first (and only) delivery attempt the week of Thanksgiving. So of course, since I work two jobs and went out of town for the holiday, I was unable to go get my package for over a week. This should've been common sense to everyone. Instead, the manager said I would be CHARGED A FEE FOR STORAGE because I didn't go get the package within in 7 calendar days. Are you kidding me?!? They weren't even OPEN for three of those days! Totally ridiculous if you ask me. 7 BUSINESS days would be fair, but this was absurd. Oh and on top of that, they're supposed to send your package back to the shipper after those 7 calendar days. When I went in and inquired, the manager said to me "oh, no sorry, you're late to pick it up. It has been returned". I nodded and went to leave, and then the other employee actually pointed out that my package was sitting AT THE MANAGERS FEET. It was literally right there, and this guy wasn't going to tell me. And then he had the nerve to try and charge me that storage fee. Honestly, I should've just grabbed the package and walked out after that. Instead, I tried to reason with him, that I wasn't aware of the policy for storage fees and going forward I would respect that policy. But the manager wouldn't budge. He eventually lowered the fee, but at that point, I was sick of his attitude and felt disrespected as a customer and a person. He was SO condescending. I finally consented to the reduced fee at this franchise store when UPS Corporate (who I called and spent 20 mins on the phone with AT the store) agreed to cover the cost for me. I have spent years working in customer service and hospitality, and I have never encountered a worse employee than the manager here. If I could give zero stars, I would. Unfortunately, this UPS franchise is the closest location to where I live, which is more or less sparse in mailing options for quite a few blocks. And though the median income range in this area is changing, I find this specific UPS store to be prohibitively expensive, and could never represent presently, the individuals who live in the neighborhood without taking so very much money. I've had bad experiences multiple times visiting this location significantly overcharging me. And in general with the employees of this location. And, they have often been dismissive of my questions. Unfortunately, this location could never serve many of the individuals represented in this neighborhood who just cannot afford any of there services, including a simple fax - In fact, I sent a fax where I learned thereafter that the charge was $2 PER PAGE (including the cover page). Granted this may be much for a yelp review, and these numbers are dated, but I feel it should be mentioned: Featured on WNYC's page having taken information estimates from the 2010-2012 the U.S. Census Bureau, on the Upper East Side (Yorkville) estimates have it that the Median Income is represented at $101,417 +/- $3,748, where in East Harlem it is $31,079 +/- $1,730 for those same years. (Found at https://project.wnyc.org/median-income-nabes/) I just called two locations on the Upper East Side, the first location on 88th and Lexington where they informed me that the price for faxing is that the first page is at $2.00 but each subsequent page would be listed at $1. I called a second location at 92nd and 3rd avenue, that expressed the same pricing. These locations both representing an area of significantly greater affluence and charging significantly less. At either of those locations, I would have been charged $11. Which is, at least to me, a large difference. If it is possible for you, I strongly recommend you pass right by this location, and spend your money where employees are generally nicer and will charge you significantly less. I am very sorry to say this especially since I love this neighborhood. read more

This place is never open on time by 830am as stated on front door. Several times I've tried to go before hopping on the train downtown for work and they aren't open. Today it was 840 am and the gates were still down. Smh. I want to support businesses in my area. read more

The manager were rude and didn't try to help with my return at all. Although another ups location and the merchant both stated that my package should have been accepted. I don't appreciate manager speaking in their native language then stating they can not help. I even called the merchant whom state they would send another label just to accommodate this particular ups location. They then tried to tell me i would be responsible in paying for this second label . The merchant was very alarmed as they profess returns all the time. It's dishearten when business don't value customer satisfaction especially when It can be done. If one is holding a title of manager please trained and equipped to satisfy paying customers. This place straight up sucks. I have been there twice and if it weren't literally across the street from me I wouldn't go back. The employees there seem like they would rather be doing anything else AND they charged $2 taping fee for a box that wasn't taped. That is some BS. I needed to print a word document that was on a usb. So I'm used to macs, PCs I just don't like to use so I rarely do. You can't use cash, only card for computer. I wish I could just plug in usb to printer.. so I swiped my card (pre authorized 10$) then clicked on "open usb". I already had my usb plugged in. I couldn't find it. There wasn't another customer but the guy got annoyed I didn't know what to do, I was clearly interrupting his personal phone call about the weather. I had to exit out and reopen "open usb". I clicked on the word document.. nothing happens. It has a check mark to it but no option to open or print. I double click.. check mark gone. I then right click and it gives option to print so I click it. Word opens, then it just pops up a box that says 12 pages printed. Great, finally. Unfortunately it didn't let me choose color or not which is what I wanted. Employee did give me an envelope for free to put papers in (rain). read more

Did a couple of shipments here and they were great. They provide other services like copies, faxing, internet, notary. Also I don't have to look for a mailbox since they also provide USPS services and I can just drop off mail there too. I would definitely check them out. read more

7 days ago, I mailed an envelope (with a home application & bank checks) at this location and asked to "send it the least expensive way" - the cost was $15 to go 2 miles, but ok. Today, I find out the recipient never received the envelope. I called UPS, and they said it was sent via USPS because I asked for the "least expensive method". Are you kidding? If I wanted USPS, I would've gone to the post office. I went to UPS for UPS. And USPS doesn't charge $15 for an envelope to go 2 miles. The UPS employee later called back to tell me he viewed the footage video of me, and that I indeed asked for the cheapest way - I didn't deny that, glad you watched the video footage, the question is how can you rectify this? They have no idea where the package is now, and my home sale is waiting on this. These people 100% screwed me. I will absolutely never return and I hope readers are equally appalled. read more

small but neat n clean. staffs were very friendly and helpful......specially the manager helped me a lot to open up a mailbox service. they offer printing service and i got my business card within 3 days and quality was awesome. highly recommend the store. read more

I absolutely hate the fact I had to go this store and attempt to pick up a package. Rating this on a one star scale is clearly too kind. Initially I called the store to check on my package after getting the slip on my door. The gentleman who answered, who could clearly be too bothered to care, blew me off by saying "if the slip says it's here...then it's here." So after work, I go to the store and presented my slip to another gentleman behind the desk. The cramp store wasn't fit to hold packages, two employees, equipment and consumers. Nevertheless, after presenting my ticket, he checked my slip and said it wasn't there, confused, I explained I spoke to a rep earlier who stated the package was most likely there. Then suddenly another gentleman,Sajjad, jumps in the conversation, blowing me off and rudely asking, Why did i waste my time when I could have tracked the package. As I was answering he continued to speak over me, at this point I was furious, I asked to be heard and then was quickly blown off again. This location truly needs to be shut down, the "employees" has no idea the population they serve in that neighborhood, we are not to be ignored and walked over. We deserve the same respect you would provide downtown in the "highend" neighborhoods. I felt complete disrespected and would rather that a day off work and wait for a package, rather than have to come here again. read more
