I've been here a few times to return packages and the staff is nice and quick. I've can without a return label printed but i was able to email the pdf of the label for them to print it. this has been super helpful since i don't have a printer at home. they've treated everyone before me great. if there was a wait, they were explaining some processes to customers which i think helps people not become frustrated. Bonus that lines move quick too with at least two register stations open at all times i've seen. I'll always opt to come to this location :) read more

I wish I could leave a 5-star review, as this location is closest to my home and I've built relationships with several staff members. Unfortunately, there are multiple extremely rude employees -- including at least one manager -- who have repeatedly made me feel embarrassed, uncomfortable, and unwelcome simply for being a customer. I understand this store gets busy. I understand customer service is hard, employees are tired, and people want to leave on time. That does not excuse treating customers poorly. On numerous occasions, I've been spoken to in a condescending, mocking way about how many packages or returns I have -- as if I should feel guilty for using the services the store exists to provide. What makes this worse is that customers who arrive after me are treated kindly, with smiles and warm greetings, while I am singled out. When I pointed this out, I was told it was because they "only had one item," which doesn't explain why yet another person who arrived after that was also helped without issue. Tonight, I was greeted with, "Why are YOU here so late?" -- even though the store was still open and I arrived about 10-12 minutes before closing. When I confronted the older blonde employee about it, she claimed she was "just teasing," which felt like gaslighting. Later, she added that they "know I always have so many returns," even though I had about eight items -- some of which were shipments that earn the store money. I am organized, prepared, labeled, and efficient, and I was out only a couple minutes after closing despite her moving very slowly and rescanning items repeatedly. What was most upsetting was that another manager witnessed this interaction, laughed, and scoffed when I mentioned leaving a review. That response alone is unacceptable -- especially from management. This behavior is not new. The same older blonde employee, another dark-haired woman, and a male manager with red hair have repeatedly shown annoyance, avoided helping me, glared at me, or made rude comments. I now avoid coming in based on who is working, and often choose other locations or USPS just to avoid being treated poorly. I have spoken with employees at other locations, and many have already heard similar complaints about this store -- which explains why customers go elsewhere. I rarely speak up, but tonight I was laughed at and dismissed, and it even upset my daughter, who noticed the behavior. That crossed a line. I want to be clear: Kathy and Jayden are wonderful -- kind, professional, and the only reason I've continued coming here. Jayden is incredibly sweet to my daughter, and Kathy is always warm and respectful. Connor has also been professional. They deserve recognition. Customer service is not easy, but taking frustration out on regular customers -- especially polite ones -- is unacceptable and terrible business practice. I've been with them for 5 years maybe more and they have been the most professional store I've ever dealt with they go above and beyond every time I visit or call. Everyone I've ever dealt with at that location has treated me nice,respectfully and honestly every single time I've been there. Hi Friends!! Today, we are going to learn why rudely speaking to your customer then hanging up the phone in his ear is NOT a good way to handle being questioned and you avoiding the question. June 2nd, I purchased an item from Sweetwater Music in IndianaMy band and I hav dealt with them for decades and never had a probem. They ship UPS. So, they shipped my package through them. It was supposed to be ONE DAY delivery, which means I should have gotten it on the Third (yesterday). It did not arrive yesterday. So, I figured maybe I had read it wrong. So, I clicked on the link for the tracking number and learned that according to UPS, they didnt have the package yet, but would notify me when it was received. I set up notifications to come to my phone, so that I could be here since I require a signature. Let me state again, UPS said I would be informed when they HAVE the paackage and normally, you get alerts at each stage of the delivery. Today, I had a doctor's appointment and Physical Therapy. I still had heard nothing. When PT was over, I decided to check the app to see if there was any indication as to what was going on. Imagine my horror when I learned that UPS had attempted delivery at 11:34 this morning. "not to sound like a broken record" but UPS STILL had not even told me they HAD the package, much less that it wass being delivered TODAY. I called and spent almost an hour talking to customer service reps in India (why we cant have call centers here where we have manageable communication barriers is a mystery). I was transferred 5 times and each time the new associate went through thier extensive verification process. (this is to piss people off and make you frustrated enough to just hang up and leave them alone). Call center agent (in his best patronizing voice) told me that I did not recieve any notification of even the receipt of the package because I put mu business name on the package. I asked why that was an issue TODAY when it hasn't been an issue in the almost 20 years I have been shipping and recieving through UPS (THAT STOPS TODAY) using the same addrress and same name. I asked him when it became a problem and he spent the next 20 minutes restating the same point in different ways as though I were too unintelligent to comprehend that he/UPS was wrong and had decided to Gaslight me!!! I do not gaslight easily because I listen to EVERY thing said. In an effort to rectify the situation (or BS me into thinking he really cared), he told me he could still have my package to me by 7pm tonight, as it was right doen the street at the UPS store. He put me on hold, so as to call them and inquire about having it delivered. I was on hold long enough for that conversation to have taken place. He came back on the line and told me I would receive a call from the driver and I would be receiving my package TODAY by 7pm. One hour ago 6:06pm, I get the call from The UPS Store only to be told that the driver had already left fo the day and his truck was already unloaded. YES! YOU READ THAT RIGHT!!!! One hour prior, they tell the CS rep that it will be delivered today and now they say it won't be. When I asked about the faulty communications and why The Customer is not kept PROPERLY informed, HE GOT LOUD WITH ME AND HUNG UP THE PHONE!!!!!! So NOW this has caused a problem for me since I do not have my mirophone that was supposed to be here first yesterday then today. It causes a problem for Sweetwater because I wont purchase anything else from IF UPS is the ONLY shipping option. It causes a problem for UPS because I no longer trust them and will not spend another dime with them. They are entirely too expensive to be this difficult to deal with and have such poor customer service. I don't deal well with people half my age talking to me like I was their age. I am due respect as a customer, and I did not receive that today from UPS. BTW, the question of why I had not even been notified that UPS HAD THE PACKAGE remains UNanswered. I spent a total of hours on the phone to be lied to and STILL not get my package which sits literraly right down the street. If you cannot deal with people asking you questions once they have been inconvenienced or something has been done incorrectly, then you probably should NOT be in customer service. If your attitude toward the customer is BECAUSE I SAID SO, you should probably NOT be in customer service. If gaslighting is your idea of a solution to a situation, you probably should NOT be in customer service. If you cannot provide what you promised, you should NOT be in customer service. I told her i had 4 items to return in one package, she then proceeds to cut open my package and say "nice try". to her surprise, what do you know; every single item i had a code for was in the box. never had to have my package opened to confirm before, as i visit this location often. very distasteful and wasn't funny at all. should've reported it right there and then. read more

Service was super efficient! Appropriate measures were taken to ensure safety, and I appreciated customers were six feet apart, all the way out the front door, despite no markings on the floor. What a great convenience to have this in Royal Oak. It's in the same shopping complex as Orvis. They have parking in the back, along the building as well as a parking lot. It's an easy in and out and the staff is very efficient and getting people in and out quickly. They make the process quite simple for drop off's. I've only done mostly drop off's for Amazon returns are other things. They're also very helpful and quick about sending packages to family and friends. I I am bummed that Amazon is now charging for dropping off at UPS stores. I guess they must've purchased Kohl's or something. Is there used to be no charge to drop off at a UPS store, but now there is. What gives? read more

Me and several others were turned away from the UPS Store at 33717 Woodward Ave., Birmingham, MI. See my review of that experience. I was literally in and out with returning an Amazon package in 15 seconds. Service is fast, friendly, and efficient. The staff is very respectful, reasonable, and well dressed in UPS uniforms. Tucked into the back of a strip mall off busy Woodward. The parking spaces are a little father out in the lot area than I would like for a shipping store. Inside feels crowded with packing materials, boxes, and a central counter for shipping. I went in during the early December pack shipping rush, and there were 7 people in front of me. I thought I was screwed. I was fine, the staff was very fast, and polite. I was out within 15 minutes. Best shipping experience I have had in a while. read more

Highly recommend using this store... I usually always use. I was in a hurry today and decided to try fed ex at the 14 & Woodward Birmingham store. I had the worst experience there today. It's funny how a rude employee can just ruin a business for you. Fast forward I got refund and took my package to UPS where I usually go. I walked in and Kathy and Conner greeted me and was so helpful. Made me realize I will always use this store and I can never return to fed ex. I've been in the UPS store for years and always get the best treatment. Conner has always been a relief when I see him and I have a fragile package to ship. It's always no worries we got this. On another note fed ex wanted to charge me $93.29 and UPS charged me $53.64 for same package, same shipping requirements. The 1 star is for UPS store system and not aimed at the employees. I patronize this location June 14, I received help from Rich he was helpful and professional. When it came time to make my payment for my package. There was some type of glitch with their system and I chipped my debit card twice due to the first time, it looked as though the payment didn't go through on his end (as Rich stated to me), but the payment actually did go through. I was double charged $4.39 (at the time neither Rich nor I knew this). The following day June 15, I checked my bank account and it show that the $4.39 was posted twice (taken out) in my account. I called UPS and spoke with Rich and informed him of the situation, I also stated I would go to my bank and get a print off of the double charge. I did such, when I arrived to the UPS, the women that were helping me were only able to give me a print off showing that their store showed a one time transaction of $4.39. However my bank statement print off show a double charge. I had to go back to my bank and file a dispute. It may seem like it's only $4.39 but it's the principle. UPS has nothing in order to fix a transaction mistake that can financially inconvenience a customer. I'm glad it was only $4.39 and not $200 because if the amount was bigger they were not able to correct a mistake caused by their system. Something that could've been corrected easily with proof from bank showing the double charge was not easily corrected and was an inconvenience for me. I more than likely won't use UPS again nor recommend them due to their system not being updated or current to fix minor transaction problems. read more

This location was pretty empty when I went in with a guest. You almost pass this place traveling along on Woodward though. If you haven't been here before, you will most likely pass it. There is a decent selection of packing items inside that you can use or purchase if you were not prepared coming in. Dropping a package off was pretty straight forward, however, my only concern was not receiving a receipt/tracking for our package. Not sure if it was by accident or that's how this location operates, but it would have been nice to be able to see the status of our packages. read more

There is apparently a new policy that you pay one dollar per every piece of paper you print but it's not posted anywhere. It's just what that decided to start charging. This store almost always has a line. I don't get why there aren't more people working behind the counter. Don't get me wrong, the staff is very friendly and knowledgeable and will pick your boxes up for you quickly. But why is there always a long line? I understand that they're just trying to be friendly to customers to encourage their business, but it really was nice to be told that they liked what I was wearing & that I "always" look great. This UPS Store is the reason I signed up on Yelp! I have been using this shop for a few years now and have never had any problem what so ever. I walked into the shop a few months ago with specific instructions on how to ship 200+ Lps to Leeds UK. I had also been to the Tigers game earlier that day and had a few "pops". This just added to my confusion. Emily took over. She said give me all the info and said "I will take care of this". And that she did. Every package arrived where it was supposed to and more importantly how it was supposed to. I was driving by the next week and stopped in and left her a thank you note. These are exactly my points. The associates do (as one would expect) notify customers if the package is not adequately taped. The box was adequately taped, which is verified by the fact that your associates did not recognize a problem here, but UPS says it was not adequate. As far as dealing with your manager - I started to do so (spoke with Brad originally) but was then referred to you. You and I spoke on the phone twice - the first time, you told me you would be opening a dispute and that YOU would reach out to me once you heard back. After a week, I reached back out to you and you told me that the matter would take some time due to the pandemic, but again, you would reach out once you heard about the dispute. I gave this until last week (approximately 12 weeks) at which point I reached out again. You did not reach out to me after each claim, nor did your manager. With great difficulty, I have managed to contact UPS customer service who has made it clear that my complaint is with the UPS Store franchise - that's you. Therefore, this is the direction in which I will proceed. I would strongly encourage you to contact me directly instead of arguing this in a public forum. To be honest, I agree with UPS corporate - this responsibility does fall on you. Not because the store failed to adequately tape up the box, or tell me that the box was not adequately taped, but rather because you did not properly express to UPS corporate the fact that their reason for denial (inadequate packaging) cannot be correct as the package came through your facility where it is checked. Listen, I believe you or Brad did open up a claim, probably online in a simple web page, and then probably even clicked the dispute button after it was rejected. Maybe it was even done twice. But I don't believe it took 12 weeks to get an answer and I know without question that you or your manager ever reached out to me once during the time this all started (i.e., before November). Finally, I am certain you did not properly explain the situation to UPS as that would have absolutely understood that they must honor the insurance claim. You must understand the issue here - I send packages through UPS all the time, and drop them off at your store all the time BECAUSE it's a safeguard to ensure that packages are properly sealed. If UPS can lose or destroy an insured parcel and then say that the insurance claim is denied due to improper packaging without any evidence whatsoever, and the UPS Store itself is unwilling to step in on any level, then UPS is not to be trusted, the concept of the UPS Store is useless, at least to me for this purpose, and UPS insurance is a scam. My complaint stands and I will continue pursuing this matter until it has been properly resolved. read more

I definitely prefer this location to most other copy and ship stores. The staff is helpful and efficient, parking is convenient, and I can usually group in other errands. It's on the smaller side, which can mean longer waits, but the friendly staff does what they can to get you in and out. read more

i wish i could give negative stars. as my shipping is prepaid by an international seller, all i am asked to do is bring the item into the ups store and it will be properly handled. in january, this store failed to properly pack a valuable and extremely unique item, it shipped and arrived in un-repairable condition which resulted in an insurance claim, an apology from the owner and assurance the staff was thoroughly versed on how to handle items properly. i swore i would never go back to this store but, regretfully, i did. this time, even though i had a prepaid shipping label, i was told because it is a fragile item there would be an additional charge of $43.00. Iterating this was prepaid, i was told that was only for basic shipping and anything requiring additional packing wold be an additional charge. The corporate account i was using includes ALL packaging costs needed to securely and safely pack the item for shipping. the clerk refused to acknowledge this. i mentioned the breakage from a january shipment and was told "i know all about that." "and now you want another $43.00 to ship it properly?" i asked. i was told "yes", i thanked the clerk, said i would ship it from another store and left. speaking with the company i sell through, i was told to return to the store and tell them any additional shipping fees were to be charged to the company paying the shipping costs and they, ups, would be fully paid, it is part of their corporate shipping agreement. explaining i would prefer not to do that as the clerk was firm about paying extra money, i was told to sit tight and they would get back to me. within a few hours i received word that ALL shipping costs were covered by my prepaid charges and to please go to another ups store where policy is better understood. so, to all you folks shipping, two bad experiences within 8 weeks at this Woodward location is not a good sign. proper packaging is not high on their agenda. be forewarned, this store is not the best. one would think it is in the best interest of the company to pack and ship as well as possible avoiding insurance claims and reviews like this, apparently, not for this franchise. Later the same day: went to a different ups store, presented item and shipping slip to clerk who measured item, described packing did some computer magic, handed me receipt and said "should be there tuesday." no complications, no talk of additional costs, just as it should be and should have been at initial stop. read more

I experienced a very unprofessional attitude from a brown shirt employee at this Royal Oak location. No Hi... No can I help you... Just an angry faced employee staring at you until you initiate the process. After the guy processed my transaction in silence, he holds up the receipt and says "Your Receipt", those were the only words he said. This is by far my favorite place to ship anything. The staff are the quickest, most efficient and friendly group I have ever encountered. I ship every weekday and most Saturdays, and will actually drive miles out of my way to drop my packages at this location.
