Rates are decent, though the employees seem rather miserable. I went in looking for a box, as I preferred to box my item up myself before bringing it in for shipping, thinking they would have different dimensions to choose from. I gave the measurements to a dude who looked like he wouldn't even crack a smile if you'd entered the place atop a rainbow-farting unicorn with a juggling chimp on your shoulders. He seemed confused by math, so I offered to just bring the thing in from my car, where I was going to do my own packaging once I had (hopefully) got the right sized box, so we could do some measuring or whatever, and got a condescending "that would be helpful" response. Every time I ship anything at this location I end up getting horribly overcharged. It doesn't matter if I do the packing or not either. I always have to complain & have the manager drop the cost of shipping by about 25-30% - this should not happen. FedEx always has significantly cheaper shipping costs even when they pack so I go there instead now. I just want to warn others of the people running this ups store. I have a feeling that they purposely try to overcharge all the customers at this store & unless you complain they get away with it. Be careful not to accept outrageous shipping charges from this store. Always dispute the charge if it looks unreasonable especially if you get the younger girl that works there. I have not had this bad of an experience at other ups stores so this is not a commercial for FedEx, just a heads up for this particular store. read more

Love this UPS store and if I can remember all of them correctly, I have not had a problem with the UPS store in decades. They have yet to lose an item, be late without explanation and cause. There she is always stage there and UPS ground from Royal oak to almost anywhere in the state is a 1-2 day ground ship time with no guarantee and the cost of 8$ for what I shipped which is comparable to that of the FedEx. But I do you have one minor complaint with UPS and UPS shipping requests there is no way that I could find to assure retrieval of deliveries between 7 and 8 PM at by business, in truth I am not sure why that is offered most close at five so delivery by 8 PM with signature is a little bit ridiculous. We are open till 7 PM which is an oddity in most businesses which actually only makes missing your delivery even worse because an hour causes loss of an added day. I do use than my UPS option and have an account because of my great amount of shipments to and from China and their system does work pretty well and that affect including drop shipments. Ok at first I was a bit annoyed because I attempted to reach the store via the phone and that was a disaster. I then decided to email them (not really expecting an immediate response) and I got an immediate response. I was floored in a good way of course! I appreciated the immediate response and the person who answered me was sooooooo nice. They offered to help me. I ended up not needing as much help as was offered but I was so impressed with the offer. I will definitely go there again and recommend their services. read more

I am an event planner for the U.S. Green Building Council, and we were in Detroit last week for our annual Mid-Year Meeting. We had a foam board emergency on Tuesday and required an incredibly fast turn around time on 9 foam boards that required mounting paper and cutting them to a different size. The staff at UPS could not have been more accommodating, pleasant, and sensitive to our needs. I was blown away with their customer service, willingness to help, and flexibility. These guys are great! I ship stuff every day via UPS and drop a majority of my boxes here. The staff never gives me grief when I show up after the last min and every box I have dropped here (literally hundreds) has made it to its destination intact and in time! Last week I needed to ship a piece of my art work (about 30" x30") to the east coast for a show. Because of the piece's value, I decided not to package and ship it myself. So I took the piece to a local UPS Store located on Woodward in Royal Oak to see what it would cost me for them to package and ship it. I must admit I was pleasantly surprised by the courteous and professional service I encountered at the store. Not only did the store manage, Justin, throughly inspect the piece but asked good questions regarding its fragility and value. He then explained in detail how the piece should be packaged in order to withstand the rigors of shipping. His explanation rational, through and convincing. He also explained in detail the various shipping insurance options and their costs. Since the piece had to be at the show on a specific day we discussed the various UPS shipping options and costs. Before I agreed to have them package and ship the piece I was given a firm price for the packaging, insurance and shipping. In the end I glad I went to the UPS store to ship the piece. I'm sure the piece is much more safe in their packaging then mine. I'll be back to ship my next piece since I was impressed with their outstanding courtesy and confident professionalism read more

not only to i despise ups but their employees are just as incompetent. everyone from the drivers to customer service are complete idiots. its almost like they have no idea what overnight shipping means. leave the fucking package at the door is no signature is required. this is the point of overnight. receiving a package specifically for the next day. because most likley it involves material that is needed and expires within 48 hours. in result; i bought tickets to an event over the weekend but sense the package was not left at the doorstep i'm out $1000 dollars and of course ups wont or cant do shit about it. fuck you ups read more
