Date: Saturday, October 19th, 2024 Time: around 1:30pm What: Amazon Return I had ordered something via Amazon that did not fit, so I was doing a return here at UPS. It's the closest free location to the hubby's house in SJ. When I got here, there was one person ahead of me. While waiting, I noticed a sign that said they started charging to pack up returns for Amazon, Temu, Shein, etc, in mid Sept. I was afraid they were going to charge me for dropping off my item. It was still in it's original box and unused. Luckily, they just scanned my QR code, took the item, and I was on my way. I talked to the hubs later about this and he said some things need to be boxed before dropping off at UPS. At least for Amazon. He was returning some faucets we bought a while back and when he tried to drop them off, they told him the items needed to be boxed up. (They were all in their original boxes.) He ended up leaving, boxing them up, and then coming back to drop them off. Later, he realized Amazon had stated they needed to be boxed before being dropped off, so make sure to read the terms and conditions for the return. Their return policy isn't as lax as it used to be. Big yikes. I would avoid this store at all costs, understand the workers are just doing their jobs but it really didn't make sense to me that I had two returns that clearly stated no box or label needed. I just needed to scan the QR code and my return would be processed but when they scanned my QR code they said I needed a box to ship it in. It didn't make sense at all... I had to pay $20 out of pocket just to ship my items back that clearly said NO BOX or LABEL needed. Here we go. Having to stop by for places that are the complete worst or someone does the most amazing job so I had to stop by. It's the worst this time. I stopped going here years ago cause it was always so busy. Came here today after all this time for convenience of having to go to another store. Long story short Miss Karen with short red hair told me all my returns needed to be in a black bag so all 4 of my returns were declined, asked her if that's new, she just said the same thing. In true disbelief went to the trusty one in the planet fitness/bonchon plaza. Where I've been going for a good year since moving back now, no issues with my clear bags that the items came in. Didn't say TikTok returns, didn't say Amazon or whatever, just returns. Took them, done. If you ran out of dark bags just say that otherwise you have no idea what you're talking about for being at the store for so long. The staff except the blue eyed employee "she is very nice" are very arrogant-especially the new girl who thinks she talks sweet and nice, but it's actually the opposite. She has a lot of attitude, and I'm not sure how "these people" are getting hired. The other lady who wears glasses is the second arrogant person. They treat customers like they're dumb and humiliate them in front of others by saying things like, "You need to pay attention to what you're doing," and, "If you don't know how to handle a kiosk, don't use it and don't make others wait." They clearly need to learn how to talk to people. Maybe they were never taught basic manners or how to speak professionally when working in customer service. First of all, there was no one waiting behind me. When I realized I needed tape for my box, I canceled my process, stepped aside, and let the person behind me go ahead. I walked up to the new girl and explained that I needed tape for the box. She said they charge for it, and I said okay. Then she started humiliating me in front of other customers, saying the things I mentioned above. Such idiotic behavior from a UPS employee. Today, I was relieved that I wouldn't have to deal with that toxic new girl and felt happy when I saw the regular ladies I usually talk to. But this time, another lady with glasses asked me to take the items out of the box because they needed to go into a bag. Instead of explaining that politely, she humiliated me in front of another customer with an annoyed expression and said, "You need to pay attention to what you're doing so you don't make mistakes like this." I felt very upset and sad because I was paying attention and reading the instructions. My only mistake was not repacking the items separately into the bag. Instead of communicating that nicely, she was harsh. I told her not to talk to me that way, and she said, "Sorry if I hurt you." Of course she hurt me-she talked to me in an annoying and condescending tone in front of others. I really wish impatient employees like this were held accountable and not allowed to ruin customers' days. read more

Had to drop off some Amazon returns. Small store. Understaffed and the existing staff aren't very friendly -- probably due to the lack of staff. I know it can be stressful especially during this time of the year. Just came back from the store. Since it was a Labor Day weekend, this store was packed toward closing time. I thought they'd kick us out but they will process your packages if you get in before 7pm and then finish ringing you up. Both cashiers were friendly despite being busy. There were at least 20 people in there. I like UPS because they can be less expensive than FedEx and USPS. I had two boxes, each weighing around 13 lbs and it only cost $43 to ship both. I shipped it the slowest way and it still will arrive in a few days. Good customer service and nearby. read more

This is the closest UPS store to my house, and I've heard countless negative things about the older white lady who works here. At first, I brushed it off--figuring everyone has their own opinion. But after my visit today, I totally understand where they're coming from. I went in to drop off a package using the self-scan station. When the scanner didn't work, I politely asked for help. Her response? "Try again," with a glare that made me feel like I was asking a stupid question. Even if it was a stupid question--isn't it her job to help? I wanted to give a thumbs up review regarding my experience at the UPS store on the corner of White and Aborn. I went in there to return an Amazon pkg and it must have been a busy time as there was a line about 1/2 mile long!! Feeling exasperated I stood in line patiently, knowing all I had to do. People in line had all kinds of problems and some of the agents were more accommodating than others. I was eyeing them and as we all do I wanted to get a specific agent who was kinder and more helpful and kept my fingers crossed that would happen. I was next in line and it happened. The friendliest and most helpful agent called me up with a warm smile and a May I help you? Her name is Carol and she is a gem. Your store is very lucky to have her and I will return just because she works there. Bad customer service!: an older lady was at the counter and motioned for me to approach. I said, "Hi. I need to drop off my Amazon returns." I put an open box with 5 items in it on the counter. I held up my phone with the QR scan code. She stood there and didn't pick up the scanner and just looked at me. After a pause she asked, "Well, what is it for?" I had to second guess myself did I forget to tell her what I wanted?? I repeated myself, "I'm dropping off my Amazon returns." I motioned to the box i had put on the counter. She asked, "How am I supposed to know? You need to tell me." I said, "Oh. I'm sorry I thought I did tell you." She then asked with an annoyed tone, "Is this for all the items?" I said, "Yes." She said, "You need to tell us otherwise we don't know." She aggressively grabbed a tape roller and taped shut my box. Good customer service would've been to simply ask me to clarify, "Is this code for all items in the box?" I would've said yes and we can move on with our day. I really try to avoid writing 1 star reviews as much as possible, but it's warranted given the service here is consistently rude. I gave this store the benefit of the doubt that there may be a staffing shortage, computer malfunctions, etc. for the way they treat people. Nope, they're just always rude. Today, I was waiting in line and this man walked directly to the counter even though I was there first. I politely told him "Excuse me, I am also in line and have been waiting" and he said "Well which line are you in?" Mind you there's only 1 line and an employee calls you over when they are ready. The older woman (with another customer) said "Well he has a mailbox here" and gave an annoyed look at me. I apologized for not knowing, then I quickly realized he really did not give a single care if there was a line forming and ended up being helped first. I didn't mind if he went before me, however the way the older woman came off was terrible. You'll have to wait in the long line. You'll encounter impatient customers or ones with lots of questions. I have rented a mailbox there and I have signed up for informed delivery I get a notification saying I have letters arriving soon so I give it a couple of days so when I went . To check few days later. No mail really? Where did my mail go? Since I've only had bad experiences with 1 lady, I'm giving an extra star. But this older white lady is there all the time. As most of you may know, amazon has their "No box no label" QR codes. As I always do, I brought my item in whatever packaging it came in, without the bag/box. This lady then tells me I have to put another bag over my package, and I told her that's not sure and showed her my "no box" instruction on my QR code. And she said it still needs an extra bag to not "ruin the manufacturer's packaging". I told her I've never had to do that and at all UPS locations they sometimes put a clear plastic bag over the package themselves. And she told me she would have to charge. At this point a line formed behind me and I didn't want to be one of those people, so I took my package and left to another location. That location took my package no questions asked, and refund came in as expected. Basically, don't let this lady trick you into thinking you have to waste an extra bag on your package, and avoid this location if you have one of these QR codes. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. Just went to this place this morning to pick up a 24" square box and asked for a quote to ship to GA. Was quoted $135 and so went home, boxed up my 40lb package and went back to drop it off and pay. Got there and the lady (Carol I believe) weighed it and told me it was now $200 ! Talk about bait and switch - and she had the temerity to deny quoting me that an hour earlier. Unbelievable ! Will give this place a miss going forward - they couldn't care less ! read more

Samantha, the manager, was extremely unprofessional and unhelpful. We came to this location to pick up our missed package and brought the UPS slip to this location. You would think this process is very quick and simple, but it took Samantha 10 minutes to help us. We first showed her the UPS slip and she requested to see our ID. We left it in the car so we retrieved it for her. Then she spent a couple of minutes trying to find the package but couldn't. We told her it's a very big box since it's an air fryer (There was probably only 20 total packages in the back and 3 of them were big). She still couldn't find it and demanded we tell her the package tracking ID number. We pointed out that the UPS slip should provide that information (which we later confirmed through the UPS website that it DOES show the product tracking #). She said it doesn't and that we must call customer service to find that number. She was NOT being helpful at all, she didn't attempt to look or scan or enter the UPS slip number and found that information herself, so we had to find that product tracking # for her. She later asked if this small envelope with a completely different name is ours (since it's a Vietnamese name) and we told her it OBVIOUSLY isn't ours since you CHECKED our ID and we TOLD you it should be a very big box (we said everything in a nice tone but as we are writing this, it's just very upsetting that we had this poor service). Once we gave her the product tracking #, she says "it show's that it's here but it's NOT here!" She takes another look and eventually found the package, which is the BIGGEST box they had stored there, which we TOLD that it should be a big box. She later informed us in a rude tone: "The reason why this package is here is because you weren't home to sign the package". In our mind, we already know and that's why we're OBVIOUSLY here to pick up! There was no apologies during this whole transaction. Bringing a USP slip and ID shouldn't take 10+ minutes for a pick-up and Samantha was either unknowledgeable with the UPS slip or just didn't care to help us and enjoys torturing her customers. We have a closer UPS store that provides excellent service and we hope that they don't drop our missed package at this location anymore. read more

Hi, I live up the hill a bit. This is a great family owned local business. They have some consistent staff and they have seasonal staff. Since they are the closest to most of the evergreen neighborhood, there is always high demand. They are always buried in boxes from our neighborhood. They are experts at local notary requirements. But that process is slow no matter where you do it. They are also handcuffed by a lot of the UPS policies and systems. So when you look at the one star reviews here, I think those must be from people who don't understand what it takes. I have used UPS stores in four states and they are all about the same. One thing I really appreciate is that you can drop USPS. They don't get paid for this. And it competes with their other services. Now that's what I call a good neighbor. read more

Nice store catering to all your moving/packing/shipping needs. Wonderful service and such a gracious kind staff! Had to ship a valuable and rather large piece of historic art to LA. The staff made it happen despite us being in a rush to clear and sell a home in less than a week. Grateful to all of them for the way they took care of us. For what it's worth, I don't give Perfect Fives anymore unless I really love the place or a business needs a little adage in the right direction. All I can say is this location does the trick. There's usually a parking spot open along the front of the store and I can leave my car running for a quick drop-off when I'm out and about. It's a little haggard now that everyone's returning and re-gifting things after the holidays but the other 11 months of the year I've never had any problems with this UPS store. My family has used this location many times before the COVID 19 pandemic, mostly for dropping off pre-packaged items so there were not that much interaction with the staff. I do not fault any businesses for having to wait longer because of the pandemic, so this review is for the way the store charging us for use of business services like fax. I was going to fax a 33 page documents to Sacramento (916) and was informed by the counter person that I woukd have to pay $2 a page vs $1.5 because it's "long distance"! Is this 1999 when we have to pay for long distance charges? Since we no longer have a land-line, having to use a fax service at this UPS Store was a necessity to fax this. I did not go through with it due to the principle of having to pay extra $.5 a page because of "long distance " charge! What a crappy way to take advantage of people. I did not give it a 1 because I don't want to ruin their business, but it's time to get with the time and actually serve the community and your customers. I ended up using an online fax service for $5 a month. read more

Printing and shipping services here are standard as you'd expect. However, DO NOT come here for notary services. I came to get my citizenship verification form notarized for pre-employment screening. As soon as I walked in, an older Caucasian lady was turning away some guy who was also trying to get a pre-employment form notarized (not an I-9 by the way, I understand some UPS locations aren't allowed to clear those). He was arguing that he had gotten the same form notarized at the same location before, but the lady just kept saying that she wouldn't do it, without ever providing any concrete reasoning. After the awkward encounter, the guy left and I walked up to ask for my form to be notarized. She glanced at it for 10 seconds and looked confused, saying she's never seen this document before. She goes to the back for a few minutes and then comes back telling me that she won't notarize it for me because it's against their regulations. I'm like "what...?", and told her that I checked the UPS policy online beforehand and that my HR manager even told me that UPS has legal permission to clear this specific form. But just because she didn't know what it was, she wasn't willing to notarize it. When I had told her that my company explicitly sent me here, she actually replied with "NO" in a dismissive tone, which I was shocked and offended to hear (basically she was saying she didn't believe it). Super rude and unprofessional. I ended up going to the other UPS Store location on Capitol and they were able to notarize it happily after reading it through a few times and taking the time to understand what the form was about (the other UPS employee even came over out of curiosity as the gentleman helping me explained to her what it was). Great people, great service at the UPS Store on Capitol! Sadly, the employee at THIS particular location was not only rude, but too lazy to put in any effort towards understanding the customer's situation. Waited in a 20 minute line to return an Amazon package. When I got to the front was invited to try the automated kiosk. That was great but it was unable to help me as I needed to purchase a box. Store cashier made me go to the back of the line (another 20 minute wait). Rude and unprofessional and refused to acknowledge that I had already waited in line. Won't be going back! read more

Came in with two boxes today to return two barstools. There were two employees there a guy and elder lady. I have came to this ups store before to return many things, small and bigger boxes. I went to the UPS Store a couple days ago since I live in the Evergreen Area, A very nice lady with blonde hair helped me. Wow she was so polite. Helped me with mailing my package and had fantastic customer service. There was a short line so I was not the only person there and the process of the lady I think her name is Carol was efficient. Awhile ago one evening I was at the UPS Store again, an Indian Lady helped me, what a difference between the two of them.
