Two days later and I am still furious about how I was treated in this store. I walked in on the 13th with a package. At the entrance there is a table in the middle of the lobby area, that is typically the location (in all other mail type stores) that have the forms for you to fill out. I did not see any so I waited in line. Made it to the front of the line and was roughly told I needed to fill out a form, which one of the employees handed me. I went back to the table in the middle of the lobby and filled out the form. There were about seven or eight people that came in while I was filling out the form. I waited in line for a second time, finally made it to the counter and tried to make the suggestion that perhaps they should put the forms at the front of the store so people don't have to stand in line twice. While trying to make this remark a female employee - Janae (not really sure if I am spelling this correctly), went off on me. She would not listen, would not let me finish my sentence. Instead she jumped in very loudly telling me that I had to wait in line like everyone else and they are helping everyone in order. I tried to interject and let her know that I had already waited in line. She would not let me get a word out, instead hollering and telling everyone (about 20 people) that I am "a crazy person", and an "entitled white woman". This went on over and over. One of her co-workers stepped in and helped me, she moved to the other side of the store still telling everyone how crazy I am and how entitled I am. It was completely rude and over the top. I just put my head down and continued my check out. I finally told the new person helping me what had just occurred, and explained that I was simply saying that they needed some shipping forms at the front of the store, and I asked for Janae's name. To which the new employee looks at me dumbly and then looks over at her before telling me her name. Janae rushed over and started a new string of yelling about how crazy I am and hoped that I got her name right. It is important to note that I am very small and have a tiny voice - it was impossible to say my side as this rude girl kept talking / yelling loudly over me and would not let me get a word in. I was the only white person in the store, which made her racial comments even more frustrating, and a catch 22 - if I had said anything to her comments. This incident was terrifying, and I truly don't understand how or why she brought race into...I was only trying to say there were no shipping forms at the front of the store. Very very sad and very scary. This store should be shut down and everyone should be re-trained on customer service and fired if they can't treat all people equally. read more

Do not use this store under any circumstances. The owner offers nothing but excuses to why packages aren't shipped or delivered on time. I paid for next day early (8:30)only to have the letter arrive 2 days later. Ups customer service and the store manager could not come to agreement on where the fault lies. The store itself has no idea why they issued me a receipt with an incorrect tracking number and proceeded to give excuses "girl was new; we aren't perfect; it's busy; we don't have Internet, I have cancer, etc" While I was paying to have this sent, the office staff was talking about everything under the sun: what to have for lunch, where to party after work, etc. Maybe if they would have been more focused on my package and less on their private lives, errors would not have been made. read more

This is the worst-managed UPS store I've ever seen. Although the employees are friendly enough, they all (even the manager/owner) seem to be poorly trained, if they've been trained at all. It's not as funny as Lucy in the candy factory (for those of you old enough to know what that bit is), but their idea of customer service seems to be to start serving somebody, then start serving another, and another, etc., without finishing the first transaction. The result is a mess, with long lines of dissatisfied customers. When I went there today to return a pair of inexpensive sneakers, I asked the nice young lady to tell me what the charges would be. On a tangent, she apologized for there being only two computers in the store, because she had to wait (around 5 minutes in real time) until one was available. Then she handed me off to a person who was evidently the manager. This person seemed to have a lot of trouble reading my hand-printed address label, and so went through everything in excruciating detail, at the end of which she announced that the charge to ship my package would be just under $20... for an item worth (wait for it) $22. Apart from that being a ridiculous price, I wasted just over 10 minutes (real time again) in the store, plus another few here and there to wrap the package, drive to the store, etc. (not their fault), to find out that the whole transaction wasn't worth the candle, as they say; and I asked for the cost up-front, too. I'll donate the sneakers to a homeless shelter, which I certainly don't mind. What I do mind is a business that causes it customers to waste so much time. It's redundant at this point to say "needlessly", but I'll say it anyway. Take your business elsewhere. read more

I had one good experience here and one bad experience here, so I'll average it out to 3 stars as I'll still come back here for some of their services. The first time I came here, I needed a document notarized and the guy who helped me was friendly and efficient. The second time I came here, I needed to print out a document from a USB drive. The guy who came to help me said that the one girl who knew how to work the machine to print from a USB quit last week. Uh, okay...You'd think that someone else should take over knowing that stuff since "Printing Services" is advertised on their door. Anyways, I left empty-handed and headed over to the FedEx on Marina to get my printouts. NOTE: There is a $5 minimum to use debit/credit card. read more

Went in to make some copies and dealt with the owner. I was quite happy to do them myself, but he insisted on standing over the machine as they auto-fed. During which time, he informed me that the machine was being replaced that day but it hadn't made very many copies in its life and that UPS required him to have two machines and he lost money on them. Maybe it's true and maybe it's unfair, but it ain't my business. At the counter he then insisted on counting the copies, despite knowing the count from the machine - he said that it was to ensure that nothing had misfed (but we were both standing over the machine so we knew they had not), but I suspect it was more because of lack of trust in his old machine. Having done that, he tries to hand me over to an assistant to pay - but the assistant can't work the till - the owner guy then explains that the till keeps on losing its connection. I would have given this place 3 stars on the above, because I did at least get my copies, eventually after they were counted, nobody was rude despite bad-mouthing the franchisor, and the price was acceptable. However, I knocked a star off because I subsequently noticed that the machine had added a black line down each copy - the owner would no doubt say that this extra line was included free of charge. Whilst San Leandro has few options for copying (Staples is dreadful), this place should be avoided. read more

I just went here today. I live in San Leandro and I have always experienced other towns or cities to be more "customer friendly" than San Leandro. Idk, maybe I'm crazy. I went here today and they were SO, SO accommodating. I didn't wait long, the guy who helped me was named Justin. Him & his staff were playing with my daughter, helping me send out my stupid AT&T package, kindly reminded me not to loose my tracking number because they are notorious for saying they never received the package, he even offered me a cough drop! How sweet! I can't imagine these people being any other way to anybody else. Way to go UPS, you won w/ this staff! read more

I'm reposting because it appears my original post fell off: My two stars is for the old crew that still works here. The store is under new management and it's not a positive improvement. I stopped by yesterday to print an email and was by the front door waiting for my ride. The new owners started to complain loudly about their customers that they wait by the counter too much (it's because they need service), they like to make small talk (it's because we're friendly in San Leandro) and they want people in and out only. In fact the woman said to ignore the customers when they speak to you, which is the only thing she can do effectively. I actually waited for her to take down my ID information for my box but she was too busy "ignoring" customers. I feel horrible for the old crew still there and have to tolerate this poor leadership. The owners are visibly overwhelmed, have no idea on how to run a business and obviously lack common sense to know customer service is what will ultimately drive their business. I hope they either change their attitude or give up and acquire a franchise that doesn't require human interaction. read more

Searched on internet for "passport photos" Top of listing pops up this store. NOT. Even though signage inside store clearly states Passport Photos....Owner of Franchise states "We don't do passport photos." Pointed out sign in store proclaiming same and search results took me straight here. No explanation other than "will have to change the sign..." Another employee chimes in "I know a good place for passport photos..." Lost me as a customer for anything they offer other than free money. Wasted time and effort. Only wonder how many others fell for the ruse and wasted time and energy in a store that advertises a service that in reality isn't. read more

The WORST PLACE to bring your UPS stuff. They totally upcharge for EVERYTHING at this location. I paid $28 for a VIRTUALLY EMPTY 12x12 box to ship GROUND to Illinois from CA. These people that took over this location are CRIMINALS who charge WAY TOO MUCH. Save your $$$ and drive to the REAL UPS location near airport and save a FREAKING FORTUNE. I usually try to be as generous as I can with Yelp reviews but there is no way to sugarcoat this experience: I called UPS to make sure I could ship my prepaid post office package through their store (as I had at other UPS stores) and they told me "yes." I showed up a couple hours later and told them what I planned to do and they said I couldn't because it was over the size limit cutoff. The fact that their was a very limited size requirement would've been nice to know before making the trek over there. My package was about 15x15x4 - not huge by any means. So I just asked for a box and the service rep gave me one and taped it closed AFTER complaining that he had too much to do today and was "relieved" that I didn't need much from him. I assumed it'd be about $3. The tab was over $7, including $3 for "services," which was literally just the guy spending 1 minute taping the box. This means the UPS people should be paid approximately $180/hour if that's how much they're charging me for 1 minute. I somehow doubt it and just felt incredibly taken advantage of. The guy actually acted like he was going to give it to me for free but I knew that was too good to be true; I never imagined a commonly sized cardboard box would cost me $7! By the time I paid for the stupid box I was barely making any money off of the handbag I was selling! Since I was already there I asked how much it would be if I shipped the package UPS. My prepaid USPS eBay label was $9.99. The UPS quote for the SLOWEST delivery was over $26! I was so shocked I didn't even know what to say. I left without complaining because I was overwhelmed by the chaos of it all but I would warn anyone wanting to ship to use other services and if you absolutely must go through UPS, do not send it through this location! They will mislead you in order to squeeze every last dime out of you (and then some). read more

Absolutely horrible customer service. I rented a mailbox and have paid more than $20 twice to have my mail forwarded to my current address. The first time I was sent another person's mail! The second time I was told I had about 10 pieces of mail in my box. I was sent ONE piece of mail. When I called to ask about it a man at the store told me that I do have about 10 pieces of mail "but the rest doesn't look important." So, the UPS Store is deciding whether or not my mail is important? This is totally outrageous. Complete incompetence. And I would have to pay another $25 to have my "unimportant" mail forwarded to me. I cannot wait to cancel this service. Unfortunately, they will have my mail hostage until I can. Not only is the service horrible, it is grossly overpriced. That is the definition of rip-off! Don't do it folks. I never write reviews for products and services unless it outstanding or hideous. This UPS location has been my go to Access Point location to pick up my packages for a few years now. Over the years they seem to have went through many staff members and or owners whatever the case may be. As for the newest set of workers/managers/owners the service has went downhill and is why it'll no longer be my Access Point location. I understand we are in a pandemic but they just seem to be very unorganized and careless with packages & customer service. I had a package delivered today and already I get a notification that it is being sent back to the sender! Even though I knew my package was at the location for LESS THAN 24hrs and way less than the 7 day mark, they do not call you to do a quick inquire or leave a message! This is the 2nd time this had happened in the past week and will be the last. read more

Went in today to get a notary done. No line, only one other person in store. Perfect timing for me. The young lady was a notary and was very fast. I filled out some thing's I forgot and she had already entered the book and filled out the big paper to attach. I signed the book and was done. No fingerprint necessary. Cost $15, time in and out was about 6 minutes, give or take a few!! read more

DO NOT USE THIS UPS. I had a package delivered here and when I came to pick it up, no employee could find it. The delivery driver specified it was left with Christina. She should clearly no longer be employed here if she is "losing" packages. The employees at this store are extremely incompetent at best and at worst stealing packages. Quite possible the WORST customer service I've experienced in my life. The small store had what looked like 4 employees working. One nice guy handled my packing and shipping order while his 3 coworkers sat around and socialized and ate popcorn. During the 15 minutes I was in the store the 3 employees socializing used the word F*ck, S*it, and N*gger at least 3 times. This was within earshot of paying customers (maybe 6 feet away). When I suggested that they might want to watch the language they behaved as though they didn't care and offered "What? Oh yeah" a response. I can certainly tell you that I will NOT be going to this location ever again. I'd drive 50 miles to the closest FedEx before ever considering going to another UPS Store. read more

Instead I was told that I would need to buy another booklet of stamps even though I paid for 6 and only received 5. I work with customer service and the guy who sold me the stamps and who spoke with me on the phone didn't even try to fix the situation. Customer service 101 and he failed. The owner and the employees are always helpful and friendly here. This is not a glamorous place and yes the owner smells like tobacco. But, they are always working to make your visit the most efficient. If you simply have a drop off, they will pull you out of line to take your package and quickly give you a receipt. There is often a line for services, but it usually goes quickly and staff always communicates with everyone in line. I received notary services for the first time here today and it was quick and efficient. There were two people ahead of me for notary and two behind me. I waited about 10 minutes before it was my turn. And, it took less than 10 minutes for my two pages to be notarized @$10 per page. As stated in other reviews, the owner might tell you more than you want to know about running his business. That's OK with me. I will take that over rude and unhelpful any day. They make sure to actually thank you here, and to use your name. Now, where does that happen anymore? Oh, and the parking is free and easy. read more

I have had a box here for a couple of years. I need a mailbox because the things that I order could not be left at my apartment. That put a damper on my Internet and ebay shopping. They take good care of my packages and are understanding when a few (I think my record was 6) packages stack up. I have never had any problems w/any of the employees. In fact. they have always been courteous and helpful. I enjoy going in there and spend a few minutes visiting with them. The times I have used them to send packages they took a lot of care in packing it up and it arrived safely. Since this is a small business, things cost a little more. I personally don't mind for the convenience and I know it is also supplementing the store. I appreciate the honesty when going over prices for sending a package. I truly believe that customer service is a lost art. IMO this place is a throwback to the times when business tried to earn your business rather than have the attitude, this is the way it is deal with it. I was not expecting such great customer service from a notary. I appreciate genuine encounters and not staged politeness.
