This place seems to try and operate on minimal staff. This was a problem before Covid and is noticeably worse now. My daughter and I arrived yesterday around 4:30 hoping for an early dinner. The hostess greeted us kindly. We were told there was a 35 minute wait for an outdoors table. Knowing we could order a glass of wine at the bar and sit on the patio we went ahead and put my name in. Headed to the bar and sat on a stool. No menu, not even disposable. Dead phone, so I couldn't access QR code. Bartender didn't look up but headed to the back vacating the bar for close to ten minutes before I awkwardly wandered off. I went back outside to sit with my daughter on the patio to wait, noticing on the way by that there were two empty tables on the patio, but when I asked she told me they had been sitting empty the entire time I was waiting at the bar. She handed me the menu on her phone, and I noticed they've reduced it to a handful of items, just two mixed drinks, etc. we sat for another 15 minutes and realized the two empty tables hadn't been filled so we got up and had a lovely dinner at grazie instead. We have been to the Vic serval times and have never been disappointed! The food and service is impeccably outstanding! What is also unbelievable is the ambiance... if you go to the Vic in the evening the scenic view looking over the city below is breathtaking... We will always go back for more! The food was pretty good - our server was not. She tried to insist that we use the barcode on the table to read the menu. I insisted on a menu and one was brought to the table. There were four in our party. No complaints there; with COVID I imagine restaurants are trying to use fewer menus. Service went downhill from there. We had a great happy hour at the Vic! Before we even get into the food and service, this place had the MOST AMAZING SUNSET VIEWS we've experienced so far in Arizona at a restaurant. When we arrived there was actually a wedding taking place on the patio so the outside areas were closed, but there was still seating inside at the bar. From what we heard it was probably the busiest the bar has been so you could tell they were a little overwhelmed. The cocktails were phenomenal- everything was reasonably priced and the Sonoran Poutine was delicious! It did take a little while for our food to arrive, but the bar manager more than made up for it by offering a round of drinks for the delay, which was much appreciated and enjoyed. Even on the craziest day, the atmosphere was relaxed and we comfortable and we got to chat with some really nice locals. We will definitely be going back when we are in AZ. read more

Mediocre food and some of the worst service I've had in a decade. The hummus was flavorless although the pita was really good. I must say that I liked the charcuterie plate. I had the ahi tacos and the lobster roll. Both were uninspiring and could have been so good. The ahi was dry. The lobster roll was served on plain white bread - not toasted, no seasoning, nothing but bread. The lobster was real but the mix was unexciting. The server was a joke - felt like he'd never waited on a table before and showed up without Amy coaching. Rookie mistake after mistake all night. We had to ask him to take our order. He didn't know anything about the menu. The runners had to ask us who had what and still set one plate in front of the wrong person. They brought out a cab when one in our party of five ordered a merlot. We had to ask three tiles before that same woman got her Arnold Palmer. The server interrupted conversations, left the menus on the table after we ordered, and had to be reminded to remove the plates after bringing out the ticket. The Vic never disappoints. We've been on the weekends, weeknights after work, for happy hour, and we NEVER have an issue sitting at the bar. Even when we've come with more people, we've never had to wait for a table. We love the ambiance, can't beat their views. Our favorite time to go is in the spring/summer when they open up the garage doors for indoor/outdoor seating. Our favorite menu items are their flatbreads, literally any of them, because they're all delicious, even when they switch up their seasonal menu; the dry rub chicken wings, the apple, Gruyère, and ham sandwich, and their asparagus bucatini. Even though their menu changes, we've always found a few favorites. My all time fave are the fish and chips!!! Order with a Scottsdale blonde, such a perfect pair. So the view overlooking the city lights of Buckeye and Phoenix was really nice. The food though needs a little bit of help. The food was mediocre at best.. I ordered the Lobsta Roll and was not very impressed. The bread roll they used was hard. The lobsta mix was lacking and it also needed a little more flavoring. I ate more bread than the lobsta mix. I tried my friends salmon and it was ok. It was slightly over cooked and again lacked flavor. Unfortunately, I was not very happy with food, but the view was great. read more

Last night was very fun with some of my favorite friends. Me and the wife arrived early to get a table , but found out you must do it 24 hours early with a party of 6 or more. The view is so amazing. You have seating on both the southeast and north west side. The staff is a little questionable. We had to keep asking them to remove plates or fill our glasses of water?? Our waiter didn't seem to get much right that night. But he hung in their with us even though we complained. Now the food. Oh my gosh! We had the chips with three sauces. So good. We tried the dry rub chicken wings. And burgers and cheesesteak sandwich. All the food was amazing. The manager was nice enough to fix a few problems we had with our food and waiter. I don't want you to take any of my negative comments in the wrong way. I just speak the truth. But I 100 percent want to go back. Even though we had problems. Just look at life in a different way. Things don't always go your way. But the staff tried hard. The food was amazing and the view was to die for. So ask for a bottle of wine and just go with the flow. I can't wait to go back. read more

Had a surprise birthday party for my wife at The Vic. Management made sure that the evening was smooth. It was. I was able to plan the menu and they had their back room available which seats up to 20 people. Perfect for the party. The service was great, Tamera worked hard to make sure there weren't any empty drinks throughout the night. I will return frequently and especially when we have a larger gathering. Spoiler: My recommendation is to drive up here for the great views, then go somewhere else for food / drinks (Tempo Urban Bistro would be my recommendation for somewhere close by). I am not giving 1 star solely because the staff was very kind. We have lived in the area for over 2 years and have been talking of checking this place out for quite a while. Overall, this was an extremely disappointing experience for the following reasons: - We came before noon on a Monday. Despite there being open tables and booths, we were told there would be a 30-40-minute wait unless we wanted to sit at the bar (we ended up sitting at the bar to avoid the wait). This may have been due to staffing shortages, but it was frustrating to not be able to get a table or booth when the restaurant was a least half vacant. - The restaurant was out of multiple menu items, so we ordered burgers at the waitress's recommendation. Upon being asked how we wanted the burger cooked, we asked for them to be medium. The buns were burnt, the burgers were beyond well done and the bacon (which we had added on) was beyond burnt. Overall, the burgers were awful. - We have had a $75 gift card to this place for over a year now. The waitress told us the restaurant has a new system in place and our gift card was coming up as "expired". The gift card states no expiration date, so we were very caught off guard. It is possible that an expiration date was noted when our friends bought the gift card for us, but there is no way we could have known of an expiration date. Very frustrating. - The wait times for our food were extremely long. After ordering our burger, we waited 40 minutes for food to arrive. This seemed far too long given how busy the place was. Overall, we spent nearly $100 for lunch and drinks. The food was poor, drinks (sangria and old fashioned) were average at best, the wait times were excessive, and we could not use our gift card (I probably should have pushed to see a manager on this, but instead just paid to avoid further issues). Overall, I cannot see why people go here outside of the views. We will not be back and would advise others to pick another place for food in the area. read more

We went for dinner at sunset. The staff were very accommodating to our needs and we were very comfortable sitting outside to enjoy the views.
