My experience at THE VIG was horrible. Worst experience I've had at a restaurant. Never felt embrassed and humiliated like I did coming to this place. I took a friend of mys here for her birthday because I thought it was a good location to grab food and drinks. Don't get me wrong the bartender that served us was great! I loved his service! Sadly he was just a fill in and I totally forgot his name. The problem occurred when this bartender ( shapeless Caucasian lady with very blond hair) out of no where decided she wanted to be nosey posy and get in our financial affair. A young gentleman came to my friend and I and insisted he wanted to pay our bills, mind you we didn't go up to him, he came to us and even after telling him multiple times that it was fine that we would pay ourselves he still insisted so we allowed him ( I mean who wouldn't). So blond hair lady took our bill (She wasn't even our bartender) came back and told us she won't allow the guy to pay for our meal. So we asked why and she didn't have a legit reason why and said the manger would not allow it..Now my initial thinking was why is it her business who paid for our meal? When has it ever been a problem for someone else to pay for another person meal? Why were you even watching us that closely to know who's paying for our meal? So we asked to speak to the manager cause we felt we weren't getting treated fairly and it felt a little racist to me. I really don't like to use the race card but this particular incident had to do with us being black. She automatically made prejudgment or stereotyped us and thought we were up to no good but it was definetly not the case. This was super embrassing especially in front of others. So when the manger (Caucasian lady with a half sleeve tattoo on her arms) came we thought she would be understanding but instead she was just the same and was quick to threaten us that she would call the cops which did not make sense since we were in no way being disruptive but just trying to get to the bottom of the situation. This whole situation left my friend crying on her birthday and I felt so bad seeing that things turned out like this. Both ladies the manger especially cause she didn't play her role and the shapeless blond lady needs to be fired for how rude, disrespectful, and racist they were towards my friend and I! OK - sorry folks who really like this place but I have to leave a negative. The reason, although may be petty to someone else, is a big deal to me. First, parking is not easy to find and of course all the parking is metered. We have never eaten there before and still have not eaten there. We arrived through the side door which directed us to the front door reception. On our way there we saw many open tables in their really nice patio area and several open tables indoors. Arrived at reception where we were told the wait was 30 minutes indoors and 40 minutes for the patio. Under normal circumstances that is no big deal. But it's 100 degrees out and their waiting area is outdoors. After inquiring about where else to wait, the receptionist gladly pointed us to the bar. That's when I had an emotional response. All these open tables and there is a waiting time BUT WHY IS THERE ALWAYS AT ANY RESTAURANT SEATING AVAILABLE AT THE BAR????????????? I realize it is a way to earn extra revenue by making people to wait for their table and drink and drink. UNACCEPTABLE. Knowing this is their business model I will never return. I'm sick and tired of being manipulated to always wait in the bar where astonishingly there is NEVER a wait time and a seat is ALWAYS available. NICE atmosphere from what I saw - but if you want to wait in 100+ degree heat for a table (which in our case there were many to be seated at right away) or drink yourself senseless at a bar then I guess it's OK. We left and went to CARLEY's - which by the way is great atmosphere, great service, great food, and I have never been manipulated to wait at the bar. read more

Whether you're at the original, Fillmore, or Uptown, you are at an awesome spot. Great service, great menu with plenty of 'pig out' and healthy options, great variety of beers on tap and excellent speciality cocktails. The Vig in Arcadia being a local favorite of mine when I visit Phoenix (every few months), I decided to give the Fillmore location a try on a Monday night. Me and a buddy of mine came in, went and took a seat at the bar and were greeted right away with menus and a rundown of the specials and drinks to checkout. Graham, the general manager, came by as well and gave us his take on the menu. We decided to take his recommendations and order the hot chick sandwich, mac n cheese, fish tacos......actually it was about 1/4 of the menu lol. We went for the mac n cheese and deconstructed fish tacos. I understand his delimma of narrowing down the menu to only a few things because everything I've ever had at the Vig restaurants has been excellent! If you are in the area or have already checked out the other Vig locations and loved them as much as I do, then you have to come check out Fillmore. Great food, great service, great times. read more

I've been coming on and off to The Vig for years and I really enjoyed it. I bring people from all over the valley because it's an amazing spot. But last night, was one of the worst experiences in my life. The waiter was rude, blown off like attitude. He forgot my French fries and he said "I totally forgot about it" like it meant nothing. It took about 45 minutes for my fries. I joked at the dude about a discount and he literally had this disgusted face like I was a total plague. I never felt so unwelcomed or lack or hospitality in my life. Oh, he gave me a dollar off tho. I left him no tip at all! We'll people have their good days and bad days. And this night was for sure their bad day but for the next 3 days I was on the phone and email back and forth with Julia and q nice guy named Graeme. They were totally nice and respectful to me and my story. So I would like to say shout out to Graeme and Julia for restoring my faith in your company and treating me like a human. I was discriminated against for my disability. It was my first time here and I walk with a cane. They didn't serve me because they assumed I was intoxicated. I have cerebral palsy. Several bartenders refused to serve me after 15 minutes. The shift manager said her staff is trained to spot "erratic walking." I was constantly ignored after several times of requesting being served. I was not offered anything. My friend went to the shift manager and protested concerning the treatment I had received. The staff was unphased. After speaking with the shift manager, they did not remedy the situation. I will not be coming back ever again. I felt so small and humiliated. I have been telling people my story and I will tell all the Veterans in the area that I'm affiliated with. read more

Went to the vig downtown last week and created a yelp profile just so I could give them a review. This place is awesome. There is no patio like it in all of downtown and my server was on point. I got the bottomless mimosa which let me tell you- I never found the bottom of that glass! My server was quick to refill our glasses and our brunch was exactly what the dr ordered. I highly recommend the chilaques. Hangover no more! The best part of the experience was the feeling like we were in a friends backyard, just hangin out. Thanks to the amazing patio, warm service and friendly manager we felt right at home. If I could remember names I would TOTALLY recommend them to you all- but take my word, the Vig downtown is my new favorite home away from home. read more

one thing I love about this food joint is that you can be sure that you will always find your favorite meal. But like a lot of bars I feel they charge way too high for their draught beer. I feel that this is not fair. They should consider revising the price for beer or introduce better alternatives so that the average income person does not feel out of place. While my love for the restaurant goes strong feel like in due to the economic environment is they do not revise their prices, I will have to change my preference and look for a place that I more affordable. Alternatively, they should make up by subsidizing the price of food so that there is a balance and this might be a way of keeping the customers form fleeing the place. read more

Food is really good. Prices are decent and our favorite IPA beer and sauvignon blanc wine are served here which makes for our kind of place! The garlic hummus is excellent! We went on a Sunday and it was 1/2 price bottles of wine - yay! I recommend the outdoor bar patio - very cozy and spacious. I don't usually eat downtown because of the parking and traffic, but this neighborhood location (slightly off the central corridor) makes for a prime locale. Our server was totally cool and even brought us over another patio heater when we got a little cold. We stayed extra long but he never made us feel like we were holding his table, and made our night even more fun since he kept us laughing. read more

My date and I went to the Vig this weekend planning on having a nice dinner and some drinks. I wasn't allowed into the place, however, because I didn't have my Id. Ok....sounds pretty standard---EXCEPT that I am 40 f***ing years old!! I'm 20 years over the legal limit and this jerk checking IDs wouldn't let me in! I certainly don't look under 21. The guy was just being a total prick. The couple in front of me he Ided as well and they were even older. They made the comment that the dude must be a cop by the way he was examining their IDs and the guy proudly responded that he's ex-military (aka current asshole). Will never go there again. I want to dinner with my family. 2 of my family members ordered a hamburger. One wanted no tomatoes with ketchup and mayonnaise well done. When the next order was taken he said he wanted the same but with tomatoes. One hamburger came back well done and the other 1 came back rare. I mean, the burger was completely red. It looked like it touched the grill for thirty seconds each side. The manager gave us another Burger. But when I ask for a discount for the inconvenience. I was giving a three dollar discount. The mistake on how they cook the Burger was on their part. And it is a complete slap in the face. On the discount I received for their mistake. read more

The environmental was all this place had going for it. I had heard such great things about the Vig. The bartender was fast which was nice. The problem I had was more with the food. I had ordered mascara and cheese which is my go to!! I am a true believer that it can be made in so many different ways and be incredible, but this was not the case at the vig. It was the first time I was turned off by it I only took a few bites before ordering fries because I didn't want to wait for something that would take long (or so I thought) They actually forgot to place to order and then fries we got were cold. This is a great place - and the food was amazing! I must mention our server Hutch - he paid special attention to the fact that we were a big family (actually 8 of us) who wanted to all sit together! We started on the inside but as we grew we were forced to a larger location which ended up being the patio which I would HIGHLY recommend, as it is huge and comfy! He brought extra chairs & the server from the inside had no problem with us moving & also helped make us comfortable. The hummus was good, mac 'n cheese, excellent beer and wine. Just left the Vig Fillmore for our first time. Our server was Al and he did a fantastic job making sure we were taken care of. Our food came out within 15 minutes and the food runner was quick to refill our waters and even cleared our old dishes. The manager came by a few times and really took the time to talk with us and make sure we were taken care of. I had asked if there was anything I could do to take even better care of Al and she said a yelp review is always a great thing...so here I am! Visited for late night. Great vibe and interesting menu but the execution was pretty bad. Hostess was rude when she sat our table. Stale tortilla chips in the nachos, chewy texture in the pork belly and mushy watermelon, soggy beef tacos, just generally not good food. All of these things wouldn't matter if server was attentive and friendly but we had to get up and ask for refills at the bar and search for our own utensils after the expedited dropped our apps on the table and ran. Maybe an off night we will probably come back for the stray kittens that visited our table. read more

I just began frequenting this spot and already am putting it in my top hangouts. I've been there for happy hour on a Friday night and for brunch a few times now. They used to have a bottomless mimosa deal, but started doing $3 mimosas instead, which is probably better for those of us trying to remember our Sundays. They usually are pretty busy for Sunday brunch when I've been there, but I've never has a complaint on service yet. For food, get the pork nachos, or Mac with cheese. If you make it to brunch, the "Hangover Cure" or "Hangover Helper" is the best. read more

My fiancé and I booked our rehearsal dinner with Alayna on their patio and we are so grateful we did. This party really kicked off a PERFECT wedding weekend. The food was top-notch, the service was OUTSTANDING, and the ambiance was perfect. Our guests were really impressed with everything and we had so much fun. Empty tables & still had to wait 15 for table at lunch! Wasn't offered water, didn't provide appetizer plates, asked for no ciliantro...cilantro came on appetizer!! Took another 10 min for a waitress to come to our table, 10 minutes for our drinks which I ordered a Bloody Mary and came with no garnishment but lime/lemon! Had to ask for olives! Ordered a Cobb Salad & still waiting 30 minutes plus Never again-Move on! read more
