Cozy and intimate place that's great for little life celebrations. Menu is often on rotation per season so it's cool to explore new options each time you're in. Last time we went we had been waiting on another guest to arrive and the staff was just as attentive if not more as we waited with appetizers for a bit. Ordered main course around 45 minutes after sitting and it came out quick. Food was delicious as always.
This was a really good experience. I've been to the Arcadia location and my experience was the same. Only giving 4 stars because I wanted a fish sandwich instead of fish and chips but the chef said no. I ordered a bun on the side and made it myself. Our server was great and made sure we had everything we needed.
Happy hour done right The Vig Fillmore in Downtown Phoenix is the move for laid-back vibes, good food, and solid drink specials. Weekday happy hour (3-6pm) hits with great deals and a fun atmosphere, even better enjoyed out on the patio. We shared: Parmesan truffle fries Onion dip with house fried potato chips Plus a fruity bartender-made drink Everything was delicious, and the vibe was on point with music, energy, and a great crowd. A go-to spot for after-work hangs or a chill night out.
The Vig has many locations in the valley. It appears to be a staple. The ambiance is nice - they even have a large patio seating area. Our server stopped by when only half of the table was seated (the rest were either in the restroom or at the bar). He told us he'd be right back but it took him nearly 10-15 min to come back. The restaurant wasn't busy either. This was the first red flag. When we placed our orders, it took 15-20 min for our entrees to arrive. I ordered the grilled chicken chopped salad. It was so mediocre for $19. The chicken was tough and dry - I could barely pierce it with my fork. I asked for a new side of chicken and it was not that much better. It wasn't over cooked but it was low quality. My friend ordered The Vig burger and they brought out the wrong one. It took forever for them to bring a replacement. My husband also ordered this, and it just tasted average. Our other friend ordered a burger with a side of fries. When it arrived, it came with mac and cheese. One of the servers took the plate and said she'd replace it, but then our main server just brought it back with the same exact thing 5 min later. She did end up getting her side of fries later on. I was really excited about the parmsean truffle fries because they were so fragrant but it turned out to be a bust. The fries did not taste fresh and you could hardly taste the truffle parm. The quality, the service, and the overpriced food made the experience lackluster. Overall, this was one of the worst restaurants I've been to in a long time.
My perception of The Vig was that it is a Phoenix staple. Now that I've had the chance to try it, I don't know why. Our experience here was problematic from start to finish. First, it took a really long time to take our order and receive our food. Which was perplexing as the restaurant was half empty. Certain things didn't even make sense to be delayed (my friend was told they were "working on her Diet Pepsi"). The service was nice, but not functional. We got wrong orders, failing to correct that wrong order multiple times, and just overall seemed to exhibit a lack of communication or workflow in the restaurant. The food was also lackluster. The guacamole didn't taste like it had any lime at all. My wife's salad came with chicken breast that was insanely dry. This was not a personal opinion, it was objectively dry as it was borderline chicken jerky. We received a new piece of chicken that was cooked better but overall seemed like low quality chicken was used. My burger was fine, and so were the fries. But I had upgraded to the truffle Parmesan fries and the "truffle Parmesan" flavors were very weak. Ultimately didn't live up to being a $20+ burger Our group was left wondering what just happened and unsatisfied. There are much better dining options downtown
I thought this place was nice, but nothing stood out as super amazing. I got the Mediterranean salad which our waiter said was a menu item exclusive to this location. I also added shrimp. I liked the amount of shrimp they gave, but I found the overall dish to be a bit salty. I'm not sure if it was the shrimp or the olives or the extreme amount of feta, but something was super salty. My friend ordered the pretzel with cheese and another friend ordered Mac n cheese. I tried a bit of both, and both cheeses kind of had a weird texture. A bit like the cheese sauce had broken? Also tasted slightly bland. Another negative was the flourless chocolate cake. This was a pass for me as it was bitter and a tough texture. In terms of positives it was my friends birthday and they do a free birthday dessert! It was the bread pudding. I really enjoyed this! Honestly my favorite bite of the night. Another highlight was the hibiscus gin spritz. I thought it tasted yummy and seemed like it had a good amount of alcohol. Lastly, the ambience and service was super great! Everyone was very nice and the place itself is very pretty. Overall I'm not sure I would choose to come here again, but I wouldn't mind if someone wanted to come here.
The lack of parking was very difficult for me. But that's probably out of the restaurant's control. The shrimp tacos were very yummy. The service was good overall but someone else in my party ordered chicken salad and there was no chicken in it, which was bizarre. There was a miscommunication which made it even more frustrating but they did remedy the problem for them. It's a very nice place, casual enough but good for a date as well.
Thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience at the Vig. Party of 23 dined here recently and the process from making a reservation to being seated, to ordering, to keeping tabs separated, to the food and service ...everything was excellent. We all had a variety of dishes from the stem frites, enchiladas, tacos, pasta...all were a hit. The apps were also enjoyed. Definitely recommend this restaurant...add to your rotation today!
The Vig is always a hit for a nice lunch. On today's visit we sat inside even though the patio is very inviting, it was a very hot summer day! We started with drinks, I had the blackberry smash, not too sweet, refreshing with bourbon and blackberry puree.. yum! They have a great lunch, happy hour and a regular menu. There is something for everyone. I had the Thai noodles.. sorta like pad Thai. Delicious and filling. Service was on point. I will definitely be back.
I had a colleague meeting me recently at the Arizona State University Downtown Campus, and we decided to go for a short walk to The Vig Fillmore for lunch a few weeks ago. We arrived and learned about the menu specials for lunch. We noted the starters, soups & greens, sandwiches, tacos, brunch options, entrees, dessert, kids meals, and many drink options. Since we were working, we stuck with the lunch specials that are available on weekdays from 11 AM to 3 PM for only $14. They included an entree (Genuine Burger, Chicken Sandwich & Side, Asian Chicken Salad, or Pozole) and drink. We both chose the Chicken Sandwich lunch specials. I got mine with a side salad and lemonade. They were delicious, a bit smaller than a typical dinner portion, but certainly something I'd consider again over lunch. The Vig Fillmore is in the historic part of Downtown Phoenix with a large, shaded patio along with some indoor rooms, too. As it was a record-breaking day when we were visiting, we opted to sit indoors. In addition to plenty of outdoor seating which is shaded and cool, there are limited seating right by the front door where we sat along with other indoor seating that I have yet to experience. The service we received was wonderful plus they weren't too busy being lunchtime in the middle of the week while ASU was still in summer mode. The Vig is part of the Genuine Concepts restaurants and have been around since 2006. Other Genuine Concepts include Campo Italian Bistro and Bar, The Genuine, The Little Woody, The Womack, and The McMillan Bar and Kitchen (in Flagstaff). There are currently seven The Vig restaurants with an eight opening in Paradise Valley in the near future. The Fillmore location is open Monday through Thursday from 11 AM to 10 PM, Friday from 11 AM to 11 PM, Saturday from 10 AM to 11 PM, and Sunday from 10 AM to 10 PM. You can make reservations for lunch or dinner (or something in between) for The Vig Fillmore at OpenTable or on their website. I also heard great things about the happy hour (which I think I may have visited a few years ago with friends). I certainly look forward to returning again to this location as well as when the location at the PV opens up soon.
The Vig is a go to spot for my friend and I before concerts downtown! It is a nice vibe inside. Parking is easy and it is normally not too busy. We always start with chips and guac which are always a hit! I got the harvest salad with chicken for my entree. It was nice and fresh! Chicken was nothing special. Our server was not the most attentive with refilling our drinks but besides that did a good job! Not my ultimate fave but a solid spot.
I've been to the Vig 3 other times and always had a wonderful experience. This time was just meh, subpar. The positives: the food was hot and tasty. The burger and fries were delicious as were the steak frites. The wings were crispy but could've used more sauce. The patio is large and beautiful. However, we had some negatives going on this particular Saturday evening. First, we had reservations, and we showed up a few minutes early, but it still took them 20 minutes to seat us, despite the fact that it was not busy at all. Second and most disappointing, our server was not good. He was not attentive, took forever for him to take our order and bring our food, and we had to ask him numerous times to refill our water and soft drinks cause he never stopped by to check on us. With so many great choices out there, I'll go somewhere else next time with better service.

I've going to the ViG downtown for years since they closed. Over the years they've had a change of ownership, therefore change of menu and price spikes. I don't mind paying for good food. With that said, the Vig once again changed their menu which I was excited and quickly disappointed. Unfortunately, the Chilean Seabass will not make the repeat list. The size of our seabass was less than a filet size and was overly salty along with the sweet potatoes. Not at all worth $37. read more

Adorable little restaurant with great staff and tasty food. Outdoor seating is comfortable for just drinks, and tables for dining. Some are under misters to keep the blanket of heat off you. Great ambiance. Indoor seating has dining and bar area. We chose the bar for a late night bite. Waiter was attentive and made drink recommendations based on our pallets, much appreciated. Poke Bowl, probably the best one I've ever had. Fish was fresh and light, and all the flavors together really knocked this dish out of the park! Highly recommend! Sweet potato fries, pretty simple and good dish. Not sure about the dipping sauce as it was a mustard base, but they were good without it. Sports were on, so if you're into a nice cocktail or drinking beer and watching a game, I highly recommend this spot. We were just passing through while visiting family, but would definitely return when we're back again. read more

My first time visiting in Phoenix my friend took me to the Vig And I really enjoyed it! The atmosphere was very pretty and the outdoor patio was beautiful and would have made a great brunch spot! It was hot the day we went so we just sat at the bar. For my drink I ordered the Old fashion and the dinner I ordered the Mac and cheese and added chicken. Both were fabulous and I even had enough Mac and cheese for another meal the next day! I would definitely go back again if I was ever in the Phoenix area . read more

Was very excited to check out this restaurant! My best friend and I met here for brunch on a Sunday morning. It was cloudy and cooler out so we were able to sit out on the patio which was nice! Didn't have to wait and were seated right away. I ordered the cinnamon roll with a side of bacon. The cinnamon roll kind of reminded me of a pot pie. It was gooey and nice on the inside with the crust on the outside. I ate almost all of it but it was a pretty decent size. The mimosa was good but strong. Definitely had more champagne in it than OJ. Overall I liked the service. The servers were quick and helpful. read more

We went here for Mother's Day brunch. It took a few minutes to get seated and the greeter seemed a little flustered reading the reservations but all good. We sat outside and were seated next to the DJ setup. This wasn't a problem since the DJ didn't arrive to set up until we were about ready to go. The only issue with the outside seating is the plates were kind of dusty when we arrived. Anyway, the food. The appetizers were good. We got calamari and wings with sauce on the side. The aioli that comes with the calamari was SO GOOD. They don't give you enough. I thought the wings were going to be grilled since that's what the menu said, but they were definitely fried. I got a margarita. It wasn't good. It was watered down and salty. My kids got Mac and cheese and loved it. For main courses, I got the crab & avocado toast special. It was so bland. The only real flavor came from the micro cilantro. Idk if it was way too much olive oil, but the flavor was so muted. Then I found a hair on it so I wound up trading it for a chorizo burrito. The burrito was good. It has a kick and the tortilla was really soft. The waitress was nice and quick to fix the error. My mom got the mahi mahi sandwich. She said it didn't really have much flavor either. The sauce for the fries that came with it provided whatever flavor that existed. She got a side of sweet potato fries, which were good. It's a cute little place. Me & my son played cornhole which was fun. I would go back for the appetizers, not any of the main food. Maybe a cocktail since they did have some good sounding options but that margarita was horrible. read more

Prefer this location over the uptown one. Staff was friendlier and nicer, food was fresher, and it was not as crowded. We came for lunch on a Friday at around 1pm and we were immediately seated and taken care of. For an appetizer, we ordered the "Vig Nachos" with chicken, ($12 + $2 for chicken) and this had house corn chips, white cheddar, refried beans, pico, guacamole, jalapeños, salsa, green onions, and crema. We all loved it! Lots of flavor, guacamole, and cheese. I then had the "Short Rib Melt" ($14) which had red wine braised short ribs, caramelized red onion, white cheddar, and toasted sourdough. I loved this as well! They gave a generous amount of rib meat and cheese. It was like a hefty grilled cheese with rib meat. My only complaint is that the rib meat had too much fat and should have been trimmed off. My colleagues had the "Grilled Chicken BLT" and the "French Onion Burger" and they both loved what they ordered too. All the burgers and sandwiches come with a side. I chose sweet potato fries and loved them, they were perfectly done. Our server was continuously lively and upbeat which we all appreciated. Their website says Happy Hour is Monday through Friday from 3pm to 6pm. I might be back for that! read more

Good food and great service on our recent visit before a concert. Visited during happy hour and had a wonderful time with my wife. We shared and enjoyed a variety of their happy hour menu and drinks. We sat in the front area and it was a little bright with the sun making it a little toasty, they graciously opened a door to get a breeze going and it did make it a little less toasty, but it eventually went away and the rest of the dinner was great! We will be back the next time we hit up a show! read more

This is one of the best Sunday funday places I've been to in AZ and downtown Phx. While it was busy, we still had great service - the food and drinks came out quickly and tasted delicious. Not to mention we had gotten a little nippy and they brought over a heater for us. read more
After seeing the awesome performance of Shen Yun, I was looking forward to some fine dining. Unfortunately, the restaurant that I had chosen was closed, And was over 1 hour from opening. So, I ended up here, at this upscale burger place (I was definitely over dressed). Since I came in off the Fillmore St entrance, the hostess didn't see me right away. But, when she walked by, She stopped to ask me if I had been served yet. I told her that I came in the back way, so she went and got me a menu. While they have a nice selection of burgers, beer and wine, the finer meals are very limited. But, since I was really hungry (skipped lunch), I decided to stay here. I ordered the Spicy (very mild) Maple Glazed Salmon with Soba noodles and vegetables (broccoli crowns and red bell peppers), and a glass of the house white wine. The salmon and noodles and wine were excellent! But, for some reason, the crowns of the broccoli were soggy and limp, while the stocks were uncooked. For dessert, I had their 7 layer (actually 6 layers + a chocolate swirl on top; though for the price, I was shocked to see it so small; I've seen single layer cakes this thick) Chocolate cake with vanilla bean ice cream. It was okay. But, nothing to write home about. And, the ice cream tasted more like ice milk. The service was excellent. And, they don't rush you. Considering that it wasn't dinner time, the place was quite crowed. Though, I wonder if they know the meaning of "vig" (the difference between the money wagered, and what was won)? Yet, another place were everything is a la carte. So, be prepared to spend some $. Though, I will be back to try one of their burgers. read more

"The Vig" n., orig. yiddish , slang for Vigorish (also known as juice, under-juice, the cut, the take, the margin, the house edge or simply the vig) is the fee charged by a bookmaker (or bookie) for accepting a gambler's wager. With a name like the Vig, you might expect a sleazy joint filed with Vinny's and Tony's. Fat men chewing on half-spent stogies. Gold chains. Discounts for cash payments. This ain't that type of Vig. This is a downtown lunchtime staple for the fat cats who work downtown. It's also a neighborhood favorite for locals. It's walkable. It's affordably priced in a mid-scale sort of way. The menu has some nice flourishes on modern American food without all the pretension of some "upscale" dining spots. Yes, there are some pretentious aioli's available and cauliflower this-and-that's. It suffers some pretension. There's also a delicious cheeseburger that's thick and juicy and just plain good. It's one of a few places that works both for a casual lunch, and as a moderately fancy spot to bring out-of-towners. It's versatile. It's dependable. You come and leave happy. No one threatens to break your knees. What's not to like. read more

This a cool place to hang out on the patio, which is HUGE and relaxing and has an outdoor bar. It is very shaded and feels like you're chillin in someone's backyard. Me likey. They accommodated my large party with reservations and the service was great. Food is pretty good too but the menu is basic. I ordered the baked Mac and cheese with green chili pork. It was good but there was no green chili in existence, it was just pulled pork. The parking was a huge bummer. The parking lot has maybe ten spots total and the street parking was completely full for blocks and blocks so a lot of my party had to park far and walk. read more

Really cool vibe at this restaurant. Sat outside on a beautiful day for lunch and they had some great relaxed music playing. I ordered the chicken sandwich with the calamari as a starter. Was very impressed with the chicken sandwich and fries. The calamari was good as well. Service was a bit slow for midday but overall a good experience. read more

The service is slow. The brunch SUCKS!! If you are vegetarian do not come here. Our food for three took over 40 minutes. We wanted an over easy eggs on the chilaquiles and the avocado toast but they put scrambled eggs on both... our waters were empty and didn't get filled... sat waiting for a check for over 15 minutes... overall bad experience. read more

Real cool chill place to have a meal and a drink. We sat outside on a hot day around 7pm to cool off and refuel. We ordered the housemade guac and salsa and blistered shishito peppers which came out fast which was great since I was starving. Then I had the fish and chips which I highly recommend. read more

Social distancing encouraged. Outside seating with heaters going fur these cold temperatures. Plexiglass between tables on the inside. Staff wear maskes; some wear gloves as well. I ordered a Cobb salad. It was great! Street parking available; limited parking being the building. There's live music on Mondays. read more

Literally THE BEST truffle mac & cheese of my wife's mac & cheese-lovin life. She's an expert, I swear. This is the spot. They offered chicken or pork add on. We went with pork and there was zero regrets; it complimented the truffle and cheese perfectly. We made it just in time for happy hour. I chose the sliders & side Caesar salad. Both were simple, light, flavorful. Absolutely loved our drinks: one delicious draft beer (Huss Genuine Sunshine Lager) & a passion fruit mule. This spot would be dangerous for my wallet if I didn't have to drive all the way from Peoria. Great service, chill music, relaxing vibe. I get that this is a trying time for restaurants, and I've tried to support local business but I'm done with this place. Checked the website that had just been updated with new hours, (yes the information was current and confirmed) they decided to close an hour early and turned us away. The place was had good patronage so that confused me. I was more turned off by the hostess attitude. Tried again a few days later and showed up earlier. Hardly anyone in the place and was told its an hour wait without a reservation. It was empty. When I asked to sit outside And again, what most irked me was the attitude of the hostess. The Scottsdale blonde was elitist, arrogant and insulting. My local support will go else where. Foods ok. Patio is nice. The usual staff were actually pretty decent. Don't know what the hell happened. read more

Usually I order the Chicken Chopped Salad and it is AMAZING! But this time it was mostly romaine.... Extremely lackluster especially considering the salad is $19.... Service impeccable as always, the servers and bartenders are always on their A game! I just wish the food quality was consistent.... I would eat here a lot more if it weren't for the inconsistency.... read more

Good service and cute establishment!! I really liked the vibe. Parking even on a Sunday morning for downtown is nice! My husband had mimosa & I had a margarita with my breakfast and it was amazing ! He even had one an agreed it was really goood!! The food though.. was very bland... absolutely no seasoning or flavor. I thought it was my food, so I tried my husbands and it was same with his burrito. I would come back for drinks at the bar with friends but not likely for food. read more

Public parking all over. On the street and limited spaces behind the restaurant. I don't think there are vouchers, never asked for one.
Are there bottomless mimosas during brunch?
No bottomless. But Sundays you can get a bottle for $25 + your choice of juice carafe on the side!
Gluten free options?
My niece joined us Sunday and she's Vegan and she totally loved the options they had for her. Also, they said many of their menu items are or can be made to meet your gluten-free and vegetarian needs upon requests. I hope this helps. 😊
