Only issue was after paying and then looking at the receipt to split the tab once we were home we realized we got charged for an item none of us ordered. The drinks were pretty good, and I got the shrimp tacos and my boyfriend got the hot chicken sandwich. The hot chicken sandwich was amazing but the shrimp taco wasn't something to write home about. Great place for a date night! We just recently did it. They are right to label their locations funky, vibey, with indoor and outdoor space! With more than 18 years under their belt, they know what they're doing, and what they're doing is right-on! They do give you the 'feel' of a neighborhood hangout and community place, yet accessible to all - and then some. And the service, attention to detail and atmosphere, not to mention the food is close to excellent. In our recent visit on a gorgeous sunny afternoon, we took advantage of not only their attractive and enticing bar for a while, but the cozy outdoor experience. We started our visit with my ice-cold Huss Scottsdale Blonde and my wife with the Coug Cup with Deep Eddy lemon vodka, mild elderflower, a just right amount of strawberry puree, prosecco, and lemon juice. We went on to our mains with my order of an almost perfect rendition of Fish & Chips a perfectly beer battered rockfish (first ever time experienced rockfish in fish and chips meal) along with crispy fries, coleslaw with an exquisite jalopeno tartar sauce - I must say, as a fish and chips lover, I found it as close to excellent as possible! My wife selected and thoroughly enjoyed the incredible Grilled Chilean Salmon artistically served with roasted fingerling potatoes, some delicate cremini mushrooms, very fresh baby spinach, along with onions and a butter sauce. The Roasted Brussels Sprouts Salad we shared as an appetizer was incredible it was chalk full of perfectly roasted sweet potatoes, succulent baby spinach, terrific pecans and dried cranberries, topped with a roasted shallot vinaigrette and parmesan cheese - magnifique! And we finished off the meal a creamy and beautiful looking Brûlée Cheesecake - the only thing we were not enthused with. Took us a bit to find the place, but we were doing a Midtown visit to the Heard Museum and decided to drop in here for lunch beforehand. They have a huge outdoor patio and misters were blasting, so it was quite comfortable to sit outside. We had the place to ourselves before a big 'girls lunch group' showed up at the end of our meal. Perfect timing :) Since it was hot, we both had crisp cold salads and they were both fantastic. Hubs had the wedge with chicken (loved it) and I had the Greek salad with blackened salmon- cooked to perfection. The ONLY thing I would have liked to have additional was some Tsastiki sauce and they don't have that anymore. Great service and I'll bet this place is the bomb at night. Not really impressed by The Vigilante chain. Kind of pricey for average-ish quality food. Tried the salmon and it was good. I don't eat a large volume of food but I ate the whole plate and was still hungry. Also tried the burger and thought it was pretty good. Cocktails are kind of cheap and sugary tasting. Convenient to walk to downtown or for something quick as it is not very crowded often. Wouldn't suggest The Vigilante over some other better places nearby. read more

The drinks were fun and fruity without being too sweet, which I really appreciated. The mac and cheese was amazing (we tried both the carne asada and chicken versions so highly recommend!). The vibes here are great, but honestly the food is quite overpriced for the portion sizes and quality. This restaurant is located right across from the Salvation Army building, and parking can be a little difficult to find (there's a tiny, shared private lot behind the restaurant and there's mostly street parking, which can be full on a busy night). It took a while to get our table, but there was a nice patio area in the front of the restaurant to wait for our seats. Service was great, and our waitress was really attentive the whole night. I ordered the fries, charcuterie board, Caesar salad, and several cocktails. The fries were overly salted, and we had to ask to get them replaced (only then were they palatable, and it was quite tasty/crispy afterwards). The charcuterie board left a lot to be desired -- I only got a few slices of bread, and the board itself was extremely small and did not hold a lot of food items for being nearly $30. The salad was ok; I found it unusual how they served the salad as whole romaine leaves as opposed to cutting it up, and again the portion size was quite small. The drinks were pretty good but quite pricey. One thing that was frustrating was that we were double-charged for getting the fries replaced. I would hope that as a courtesy they would replace it for free, as it was extremely salty to the point of not being edible, but unfortunately that didn't happen. Even though I enjoyed the atmosphere, I probably wouldn't come back. read more

Stumbled upon this spot looking for a drink and a little snack. The chips and dip were tasty and good. It came with A LOT. There were only two of us and we had a lot leftover. Im a sucker for bread pudding so once I saw a butterscotch bread pudding, I had to have it! It was SO GOOD! Im still thinking about it. It was also still good eating it the next day. Came here on a conference to Phoenix and this was our first stop! Finding it was very tough since it blends into the buildings but there is a large sign out the front. The ambiance here is super nice and quiet, but appeared to be very family friendly. We got the large cinnamon role to start which was so fresh and fluffy! It wasn't overly sweet either. I ended up following that with the hot honey chicken sandwhich was on point - crispy and juicy with the sweet/spicy hot honey. This is a must have when here. I've been here a few times over the years and it's just ok. Our server was really nice and friendly and gave suggestions when asked. It was freezing inside. Bring a jacket. The Brussels sprouts salad was extremely tough. The chicken was kind of dry, the green beans were not cooked enough and the potatoes were decent but still not completely cooked sadly. Our server brought it with the feta but I didn't say anything since I never send food back and it was no big deal. Asked for a steak knife because it was served with a butter knife, which is definitively not effective in cutting skirt steak. 10 minutes later she came back over to our table to apologize for forgetting and brought us a butterscotch bread pudding on the house! It was SO good. I would definitely want to come back, but outdoor seating would be nicer in the cabanas. The outdoor patio is beautiful and has so many cozy places to sit, which I love. My friend and I sat at the bar, but it was a solid 5 minutes of standing before anyone acknowledged us, desire there being one guy behind the bar whose only job seemed to be filling waters. I understand people have different roles, but it was odd he didn't acknowledge anyone or explain that he couldn't take orders. The whole thing seemed chaotic and rude. We finally had someone take our order and the experience did at least improve from there. Our food came out very quickly (we ordered the soft pretzel which was hearty and delicious) and we were able to eat and finish our drinks peacefully. read more

My burrito tasted good but it had too much grease so it all pooled at the bottom and I had to wipe my hands after every bite. I had a taste of the pancakes and they were delicious! What I love most about the Vig is their absolutely excellent service. I appreciated ordering one drink during happy hour and then getting to sit there for a couple hours on a Friday night. It's a fabulous place to really spend time with someone and talk in a nice environment. Their happy hour has some good deals, though not as great on the food side as with drinks. The staff are happy to explain what their signature cocktails are like and provide recommendations. I'd expect a larger happy hour menu since theirs is so highly regarded, but the available options are solid. Food-wise, I've shared the sweet chili wings, but I'd consider ordering them as a main dish. The texture and taste were perfect - they're crispy and juicy, with a slight kick and just the right amount of sauce. Their short rib tacos are also pretty good. The short rib is ok, but the sauces and toppings shine, especially the bright-tasting yellow sauce. I hear good things about their mac and cheese, too. They give you the free dessert of your choice on your birthday. The dessert menu is small, but everything on it seemed good. We went with the butterscotch bread pudding, topped with vanilla ice cream, on our waitress's recommendation. Another had the seafood enchiladas which were creamy and had a tasty sauce. I got the hit chicken sammie no bun with sweet potato fries, it was ok ... prob should gave gotten shaved brussel sprout salad. Went here as a backup option on a weekend. The restaurant was relaxed , and almost a bit hidden away. This was a plus for enjoying a quieter dining experience than a lot of places downtown. They have a nice outdoor dining area but dined inside which was equally nice and even cozy. Service was friendly, helpful and professional. Only positive regards to the staff. Drinks were pleasant but I found myself wanting more options and variety. And despite a full bar the bartenders weren't that familiar with off menu cocktails (they certainly tried to help still). We ordered the Cheeseburger and Veggie Burger. Regular fries with one and sweet potato fries for the other. Food was alright but truthfully kind of disappointing and subpar for taste. I did think the sweet potato fries were particularly crunch and tasty. They were the best part of the food I tried. Both Burgers were just medicore tasting. And had much better tasting elsewhere. To summarize, this is a decent option if your looking to get dinner in downtown Phoenix especially on a busy weekend. Nice welcoming atmosphere and vibe. The Vig was such a lovely time while in Phoenix. We sat outside which had a wonderful, romantic fun ambience. We sat under a tree which was shedding little flowers and leaves which almost made it even more beautiful. The blood orange margarita was fantastic! Not overly sweet which is how I like it. We ordered the shisito peppers which were good. About one in every five was spicy, a little higher ratio than I'm used to, but nonetheless great with the soy glaze. The brussels sprouts are a MUST HAVE!! the maple glaze had me wiping the dish for more. The cheese board was also good, as was the caesar salad. Our server Mercedes was wonderful and staggered our dishes so we could enjoy things at a nice pace. There was also live music on the patio which was so great to enjoy while eating dinner.
