Had a terrible experience with my group this weekend here and the worst part was the manager Angel was sitting behind our table the whole time on her computer and did nothing. We were sat inside and no one else was around us. It took about ten minutes for a server to come over. Then when she came it took a while for her to come back to get our order and next drink orders. The food took 45 minutes to come out, and one of our friends drink never came. We were looking around and talking about the poor experience and 30 minutes later, the manager finally got up and said can I help you with something (with attitude). The only reason it gets two stars is because the food was good and the atmosphere was cool, but we will be going elsewhere for brunch. Gave it a try and service was terrible. For my vegans their veggie patty is vegan. It was good. read more

The only good part of this restaurant is the atmosphere. It takes at least an hour to get a table and they cannot poach an egg for eggs Benedict. Nothing is seasoned well and the potatoes are always over cooked. I would only go back to drink a mimosa and play corn hole outside, but if you're looking for an actually good brunch or meal at any time- search elsewhere. read more

While in Phoenix for a work trip, I found The Vig while scoping out happy hours in the area. I dropped in for a late lunch on the patio before a flight, and I was totally satisfied! I ordered the nachos and an iced tea (my server said their only option was mango, which I really enjoyed!). When the server rounded the corner from the kitchen carrying my nachos, my jaw dropped. I was only able to finish about a third of them -- the plate was MASSIVE and piled high with freshly baked chips smothered in salsa, guac, jalapeños, beans, melted cheese, and olives. I picked at my decadent treat while reading on the patio as the sun set. The woman serving me kept my tea full and even offered me one to go when I packed up to leave. This place has an awesome patio, and the indoor seating looked really nice as well. My friend and I both ordered the flat iron steak with chimichurri. I thought the steak and chimichurri had wonderful flavor and the french fries were really tasty as well. My only complaint is that the steak is a bit hard to cut and to chew. We ordered the pork belly and watermelon appetizer and I was pleasantly surprised by the unique combination of flavors. I love this place for a delicious brunch and tasty mimosas. Let me start with the mimosas. When I went the special was $4 for buildable, potent mimosas. You have your choice with different juices and purées to add to your alcohol. Yum. The food was well made, savory, and never lets you down. I have been there for brunch and lunch, trying their breakfast plates and sliders. The service is speedy and attentive. There is plenty of space for small to large groups with a nice outdoor area to enjoy cornhole or lounging on Adirondacks. I met someone here and i think in the 2 hours i was here i saw our server 3 times. we waited 20 minutes before seeing our server again to order another round and to get our check. the drinks were good but each round (of the same drink) tasted completely different. we got a charcuterie board and the grapes were mushy and the bread was stale. it was a cute ambiance but don't know if the service was worth returning. read more

We came for dinner last night for my nephews graduation, we've been to this location a few times and have seen Amber before but she's never been our server. She gave great suggestions and made sure she understood all of our orders, including our couple vegan & no dairy people. She asked questions and clarified any concerns. All right I am sorry there's no pictures, I just am never able to wait to taste whatever comes to the table; I obviously have a lack of self-control. Went there for brunch about a month ago and had the lemon ricotta pancakes that are on their brunch menu. It's not a big serving, so if you are hungry either grab an appetizer or another item. Just please don't expect it to fill a healthy appetite-it's kind of on the small/medium size. I will say this, we had an appetizer,so when I got it, it was just enough for me (the Cheesecake Factory's is a full-sized version). That being said, it was delicious. I enjoyed them they had a great texture and the blueberries were fresh. I did say we had an appetizer, the Chicken Nachos they were delicious as well. The chips were actually spot on perfect; just the right amount of salt and texture to be enjoyable. I actually ate probably more of the chips with no toppings than anyone else. My friend ordered the Turkey Reuben on this visit and it looked so delicious (that's where my 2nd visit comes in). The staff is spot, I can't come up with any complaints there; very attentive and know how to do their jobs. Looks like a lot of experienced servers work here. 2nd visit: Again, wait staff was perfect. As usual, we ordered an appetizer which was Ahi Tuna served on Himalayan Salt. The Yuzu-Soy was delicious and we enjoyed it with the pickled onions too - all gone. Because of the previous visit, 3 of us ordered the Turkey Reuben. I am glad we did because it was delicious; the combination of the marble-rye bun, the turkey, slaw, Gruyere cheese with Vig sauce was perfect. I did ask for a side of the Vig sauce because it was a bit dry for me, one of the copycats did the same. The other guest had a lamb burger which looked like it was just a regular Gyro; she said she enjoyed it. Now, for the specialty of this visit, which I will now be ordering every time we go there and I will be ordering 2 of them, was the Nobel Pretzel. Every time I go to a place and they have a delicious pretzel with accoutrements, I love it. Then, the next time I show up, they've change it. Please don't change this, it was delicious and perfect. With 4 of us at the table, it was a challenge to get 2 bites; we just enjoyed it so much. Two of us ended up getting beers but for the life of me, I know I am the worst reviewer ever, I cannot remember the name of the beers. It was a Pilsner, der...sorry. With the pretzel perfect combination and I am sure you appreciate my being a idiot not remembering. Sorry! I enjoy going to the Vig on occasion. They have a lot of different options here as far as food, drinks, seating and entertainment. The outdoor area is the shining star of this place since it's large and perfect for hanging out and drinking on a fall or spring evening. I've never had a problem with the service here and the staff is friendly. The prices are a little high compared to your neighborhood bar, but pretty standard for downtown. Definitely worth trying if you are in the downtown area and looking for something to do. read more

A few friends and I visited The Vig Fillmore for brunch today. I AM SO HAPPY that this location has FINALLY reopened after being closed due to covid. We were so impressed with their safety protocols and cleanliness. We sat outside by the bar at a high top as it was an absolutely beautiful morning. Molly waited on us. Very professional and knowledgeable of the menu. We were impressed at how productive and efficient she was, as she was able to work the outside area tables and was also the bartender. We started off with the giant corn nuts and the cinnamon skillet for appetizers because they sounded so interesting, and we were starving after hiking all morning. WOW! The salty and the sweet combination was so good together. The pumpkin soufflé pancakes were absolutely delicious and really made it feel like fall was FINALLY in the air. My vegetarian girlfriend had the quiche and she loved it. We also had an order of French toast and halibut street tacos. All so very different flavor combinations but so good. The brunch menu is quite complex and definitely suits a vast array of palettes. You'll be hard pressed not to find something on the menu that isn't delicious and just as pretty to look at. The manager, Charity came over to see how our food was and even took away some empty plates. We thought she was very professional and enjoyed talking with her as she was so excited that they have finally reopened after being closed for so long. When we were leaving, the hostess asked us how everything was and invited us back soon. I didn't get her name, but she had on a white t-shirt that read, "LOVE". I thought that was appropriate given the climate right now. We will definitely be coming back soon in support of this local neighborhood restaurant and to enjoy the great ambiance and delicious food they offer. read more

Recently came for another visit. Just as friendly and same practice of protocols in place which was great to see. Some places have gotten lax with their policies. Was going to ask about which community handle they had since it's for a good cause and our server, Kristine, beat us to it. The Barrio Blonde was right up my alley, and the featured Starvin' Marvin was a hit as well. Food, atmosphere, and service were perfect. Another reason we will continue to support this establishment is the amount of professionalism shown by the staff and management. There was a gentleman who was heckling our same server and the manager came over so quickly and removed the gentleman. She handled their situation with such ease and assertion. Six of us came to this Vig's location for happy hour, and it turned out to be a decent lounge for group gatherings. The premise was aesthetically pleasing. From the inside out, the three dining areas started from the indoor bar, an enclosed dining space, and then the spacious outdoor patio. People can come for happy hour from 3-6pm, Monday through Friday. TVs were available by the bars, as well as lives music performances later in the evening. The loungy atmosphere was relaxing, casual, and fun. The Guac & Chips ($5) came with a basket of warm chips that came with refills, fresh guacamole, and pico de gallo. The consistency of the guacamole was thick, creamy, with solid textures. It could use some chopped jalapeno, but otherwise it was a good value item. The eight-piece Hot Wings ($6) were grilled to perfection, with a firm meaty bite and sweet BBQ flavors that soon kicked in. The blue cheese dip was unnecessary, especially when the wings were not spicy at all. It was another good item to share. The Fish Tacos ($6.5) came with double deck tortillas that were layered with blacken white fish, spicy slaw, pico de gallo, and tomatillo-avocado salsa. The fish was meaty, blackened with good flavor, but the spicy elements were again missing. The tomatillo-avocado salsa was a good addition, but the flavors could use a lift with a spicy citrus kick. Again, like other dishes, the food was good to share, but the flavors were kept too safe without any sort of risk-taking. The Hummus ($8) turned out to be the most disappointing dish on the evening. It came with roasted garlic and siracha hummus that failed to distinguish from one to the other. The small, triangular pitas were served warm, but they were also stiff to the point it was crunchy. Epic fail, this was not a dish I would get again. Overall, like many lounges, food was second nature when you have a wide array of drinks and great company. Service unfortunately was a hit or miss. However, the low-risk prices, along with the décor and ambiance culminated an enjoyable evening. Based on other reviews, I suggest for people to grab dinner elsewhere before coming here for a nightcap. Great for groups, I would return when I have out of town guests or special gatherings. read more

I often find myself here when my friends are craving cocktails. The Vig, with several locations across the valley, is about atmosphere, American food, and cocktails. Fillmore maintains an ample space for your socializing needs in the form of one of the better patios in the valley. On the rare occasion it's below 80 degrees at night (It's September, I'm *so* over summer), I'm sure this would really shine. I don't mind sitting out on warm nights, but I'm starting to realize how much of an impact that can make on drinks--while the cocktails appeal appetizing, almost all of them come to you diluted, a product of mixing with warmer products. This doesn't matter at all with basic items, but really messes up more complex refreshments. On paper, the Chim Chareu (Gin/aloe/watermelon/cucumber) is the beverage of my dreams. In reality, it just tasted like cucumber water. Every time I've been here, the cocktails have been mediocre. A similar lack of detail is paid to the less pricey drinks. Yes, Tito's for $4 is choice! But you should probably order it straight-up. Both times I tried one with tonic, it was absolutely flat! That's not very nice. :-( But for what it lacks in liquor, The Vig makes up with three groovy qualities: -Stellar happy hour bites -More than fair craft beer prices -Servers who are attentive and know how to stay organized while covering a large area. I'd recommend this as a cool spot to have a blast with large crowds. I look forward to having an app or two and plenty of beers with my pals. I think I only have two check ins here. Whatever... I have declared this location my favourite of all the vig locations. Some of the same staff as uptown, which I like. I can be sitting at the bar solo or with someone and the staff really treat you well. Making conversation on anything under the sun. Which is what one would like when sitting at the bar. If I'm at a table, leave me alone. They have a really decent selection of craft beers on tap. I would love to have a way to know what's on rotation. In particular of all locations I love the outdoor bar here. This place used to be the local breeze and sitting out at the bar at the vig here brings back fond memories of hangover recovery Bloody Mary brunches. The Vig Filmore is also going to be my pre Crescent Ballroom stop from here on out. I'm a fan! read more

Stopped by the Vig Fillmore for brunch on a hot Saturday afternoon, sat on the patio to enjoy the full Vig experience. What I Ordered: -Tito's Bloody Mary Bar ($4) -Guac and Chips ($8) Drinks: -Bloody Mary, at $4, is hard to beat. This special is only made with Tito's vodka (cannot be changed to gin for example). You're given a glass with ice and vodka, and you build the rest yourself. The bartender may forget to tell you, so go to the inside bar (either entrance) and the bloody mary bar is stationed on the end. -fixins: bacon, pickled asparagus, olives, cocktail onions, celery, various hot sauces (Tabasco, etc), black pepper, salt. Food: -the guacamole (and the chips) were really good, I ate the whole thing without a second thought. -considered ordering an actual meal but it was hot as h### and I didn't feel like touching anything above 80 degrees. Ambiance: -the patio was particularly crowded... and loud. -a lot of complaints about people smoking. I didn't see a single person (not that it would bother me because we're OUTSIDE). -misters going in certain areas, none directly over the bar unfortunately. -TVs over the bar -live jazz band playing on the patio Staff: -the patio bartender I had was not the least bit friendly, and not just to me. He seemed more interested on socializing with those he personally deemed interesting and worth his time. Funny, cuz I'm a great tipper and an excellent conversation partner. -inside bartender was much more pleasant; in fact, all other staff were helpful and polite. Parking: -had to park about 2 blocks away on the street in front of a condemned house; wish they'd get a better parking situation. I'll be back to visit the Vig every so often, just so that I can brunch in a brunchy atmosphere and pretend like Arizona isn't a sweltering desert pit of despair. How disappointing! The menu apparently just changed and on top of that NO MORE ENDLESS MIMOSAS! This is my neighborhood, I work, play and eat here. When we lived in Phoenix, we frequented the (original) Vig, and always loved it. We have since moved out of town (NC) and were staying downtown Phoenix, and were so happy that there was a downtown location now! The food is exactly on par with the original (which is phenomenal and consistent - never had any bad food or drinks). We also HIGHLY recommend eating on the patio, as it is huge and roomy! We happened to go on a Sunday, and it is half price bottles of wine.. Service was AMAZING as always, too! Our server had us cracking up and paid attention to every little detail! This is a fun place to hang out, eat and drink. There is Cornhole outside around tables and chairs, but also dining inside. The service has always been good, but the drinks are expensive and weak. I only go there for the chill hangout atmosphere and their food. It's good for big parties, or a first date. I haven't eaten something there I didn't like. read more
