The entry to the Vig!
Bill T.

Utilized The Vig- McDowell Mountain for our familial Fathers Day Brunch! It was the perfect venue & meal! I got the BBQ Special and it was perfect! Filling as Hell; but so enjoyable!

Pozole
Steven G.

One of my favorite dishes in the valley is the pozole from The Vig! The broth is flavorful with lots of spices, and just a hint of heat to it. Lots of hominy, pork, and cabbage complement the entire dish. The location here has a huge outdoor patio so it's better to go in the cooler months. I recommend reservations even if you're going earlier in the evening unless you don't mind a lower outdoor table with Adirondack style chairs.

Sauteed shrimp tacos

A friend and I came here recently to grab an early dinner before we had to head downtown for an event. We were immediately seated upon arrival with our drink and food order taken relatively quickly. Unfortunately, after that service became slow. Since we had an event to go to after, I decided to order a "safe" option and went with the sauteed shrimp tacos with fries. The tacos overall were just okay, nothing impressive. The tortillas themselves were disappointing. The fries were good though, plentiful with the right amount of salt and not cold or soggy. What I like about this restaurant is how spacious the interior is and how the tables are spaced far apart from each other that you don't feel like you're unintentionally intruding on a neighboring table's conversation.

Hot Honey Chicken

I stopped by The Vig and tried their Hot Honey Chicken Sandwich, which was absolutely delicious. I've always liked The Vig locations because the atmosphere is always great and the overall vibe makes for a really enjoyable meal and time. On this visit, service-wise, everyone was friendly and welcoming, but the attention was a bit infrequent. Refills didn't really exist and It actually took us about 15 extra minutes just to flag someone down to pay the bill, which was a little frustrating after an otherwise great experience. I still highly recommend any of The Vig locations otherwise and will definitely be back again.

Great bar area

What a beautiful and lively restaurant. I'm a sucker for a large bar top, and this place is it. Next time I will definitely sit front and center at the bar top. The service was great and the food was top notch. The turkey meatballs in vodka sauce were fantastic. I'll be dreaming about them for a long time. The caesar salad was also great and the wine list is solid. I'd definitely come back.

The Vig has an amazing outdoor space. Top 5 of all the restaurants I've been to in North Scottsdale. The food is good, too but the service is typically pretty slow. The staff is attentive but the food usually takes a while to come out. I wouldn't come if you're in a hurry, but if you want a place to relax and take in the views and enjoy the weather. This is a big contender.

Server Ryan was wonderful, very sweet and warm, 5 star service! Manager was very sweet to help us adjust seating so our group felt more comfortable. Music was great. Menu seemed interesting though food was not as yyzu tasty at is looked. Turkey sandwich was just okay. Not enough tomato and avocado and the cheese was a bit bland. Seared ahi was warmer than expected and also average. Price points were too high in my opinion. That said everything came out quickly and everyone was very attentive and kind who worked there.

I reeeeeally hate to rate so low because our server was super personable but service was incredibly slow.... from getting drink orders in to actually ordering entrees to forgetting non-alcoholic beverages completely. Thankfully no errors on any of the orders coming out for both food and drink. It was pretty breezy in shade on the patio but they did have patio blankets when we asked. There were sections of lounge seating in the sun and on the turf areas that seemed to be reserved for parties with children, which is a great idea letting kiddos move around. Overall, the food was just OK in flavor, temp, and texture - my food was cold and the Bloody Mary mix was not good at all. Three of us ordered one and didn't even finish them which is abnormal for us. Just flat, and tasteless and a bit thin/watery? Our starters were probably the bear part of everyone's meals - calamari and burrata I would come back for! The outdoor ambiance is definitely unique. Maybe we were there on an off day (Saturday for brunch)?

The Vig has the most beautiful patio! I have been there for both corporate events and to have dinner and always had a good experience with good food and drinks and excellent customer service.

Surprise Operations team lunch

First time here today and it was because of a work lunch where there was 11 of us. We had to have 7 of us at one table and 4 of us at the next table over because they didn't have a large table but it is kind of a smaller place. I feel they could still have moved some tables together to get us all together, but oh well. The strawberry lemonade was a little bland for lemonade but it was still ok. The food was very good and comes out with a very nice presentation. I had the sautéed shrimp habanero tacos that were very good. All in all a nice little place that's worth the trip if you don't live in northeast Scottsdale and I would recommend it for sure.

The Vig is a fun, fresh restaurant with a week rounded menu that leans a little Southwestern. They offer soup, sandwiches, tacos, fish, steak, and more. Weekends add some brunch items like biscuits and gravy and chilaquiles. The Vig has six locations: McDowell Mountain, McCormick Ranch, Fillmore, Arcadia, North Central, and Park West. Each one has both beautiful indoor and beautiful outdoor spaces. It's a great spot to meet with friends, have a family meal, and even bring along your pup. I recently met with friends at the McDowell Mountain location. We went for brunch as soon as they opened at 10 on Sunday. It was peaceful with lovely views of McDowell Mountain. A solo musician sang nice lo-fi style hits and obliged is in leading happy birthday to our friend. Brunch with the girls calls for cocktails, of course, so I enjoyed an Old Fashioned. It was smooth and light and went nice with my breakfast Enchiladas. The Enchiladas were delicious with chicken, scrambled eggs, roasted corn, and poblano cream. Our server was sweet and fun. He joined in as we joked about the huge celery stalk in the Bloody Mary. It was a great start to Sunday and a nice end to the weekend.

Ask the Community - The Vig McDowell Mountain

How long does a meal normally take around 11-12?

It usually very prompt. Depending on how quickly you're ready to order you'd have your food within 20 min.

Do they have the Monday night cheeseburger special like the 16 th st Vig?

Unfortunately not. They will be starting to add a burger special on happy hour for the Fall. Stay tuned.

We decided to split the Meatball (a new addition on the menu just this week) and the Italian Grinder (one of our fave's) and it was worth it. We knew we would take the other halves home for a dinner snack, so we had a less overloaded lunch today. Casey again was our server, and he saw use getting seated and brought over a bottle of their sparkling wine (they do a deal for $20 or $25) which we enjoy, as we got it last time also. The bottle overflowed significantly on opening so there was a bit of loss unfortunately - however, Casey came back later during our lunch when we had finally finished the bottle and topped us off from the lost portion of the previous bottle - a very kind gesture and certainly was not expected. But he said he wanted to do right. A good man right there. The food as usual, was fantastic - service is exceptional and the ambiance very good - def not a loud place, but certainly has the potential, as there are glass windows behind the bar area so if you have loud talkers at the bar, it bounces back at you - most noticeable if you're sitting at the community table in the middle - the booths are much more protected further back. We have sat at the same seats at the community bar each time we have been there, but it's pretty good and the noise isn't generally a concern - might be later in the evening/night when there is a fuller bar area - we usually are there for a mid-afternoon lunch so it's not so bad. Do yourself a favour and also try the Desert Bloom cocktail - its very good! So, until next time!

Unfortunately I can't remember our servers name because I waited too long to leave this review but my friend said he looked like James McAvoy, lol. Will definitely be back to try other dishes and eat that banana tart again because gosh DANG.

We were pleasantly surprised to find that happy hour lasted until 6 pm. We ordered a variety of dishes and truly enjoyed every single one. The kids menu is fantastic too. My son's meal came with salmon skewers, a huge serving of fries, fresh fruit and an adult sized cookie (that we had to sample for quality control). The service was incredibly friendly and attentive. I really liked how stylish and beautiful the restaurant was. It would be a great spot for a date night. We ordered several dishes to share. I was really looking forward to the Nordic salmon salt block sashimi but the slices were too thin to hold up to the salt and felt like the block was the main attraction. Nordic salmon sweet sesame rice bowl was highly recommended by the server. It was good but overly sweet and the serving size was pretty small. We ordered Korean beef tacos topped with raw kimchi. Wasn't impressed with the beef which was just meh and lacking a rich and good flavor. At $5 each the tacos fell short in execution as the flavors and combination didn't work. The best dish was the tempura green beans which were light and crispy. I didn't care for the aioli it came with though as it was super sweet. I had to mix in a garlic aioli to make it ok. The ambience felt elevated but unfortunately the food didn't match. I didn't expect to find flaws with every dish we tried which was disappointing. Our server was acceptable but was not engaging. I'm glad I finally experienced this restaurant but don't see myself returning.

Instead, we were publicly embarrassed and treated like criminals for absolutely no reason. After we were seated, I closed the curtain because the table next to us was loud and obnoxious. Minutes later, the manager, Hannah, walked over and decided our entire group was "too intoxicated" to be served. Not a single person in our group was causing a scene, being disrespectful, or acting out of control. We were sitting at our table, ordering dinner. What makes this even more ridiculous is that after taking our drink order, Hannah personally brought out three green tea drinks in champagne glasses. Then, almost immediately afterward, she decided we were somehow too intoxicated to stay. Which is it? If we were supposedly too drunk to be there, why were drinks being served in the first place? We had already ordered what would have been around a $700 meal, and instead of being treated with basic respect, we were stereotyped because we were a bachelorette party. It felt like Hannah had already made up her mind before giving us any chance to prove otherwise. Restaurants absolutely have the right to refuse service to genuinely intoxicated guests. What they should not do is make assumptions based on the type of celebration or the size of a group. This wasn't responsible service--it was poor judgment, inconsistent management, and an incredibly embarrassing way to treat paying customers. We'll happily spend our money somewhere that values its guests instead of profiling them. !!! DO NOT GIVE THIS PLACE YOUR BUSINESS!!! We ended up at ZUZUs, they treated us with respect and dignity. Food was 10/10.
