This restaurant is a favorite of all the UVa fans. On Saturday mornings there is a line to get in the doors before it opens at 8 am. The service is wonderful and breakfasts are delicious. I usually get blueberry pancakes with extra blueberries; but today for a change of pace I order the apple crepes and a side of crispy bacon. They were yummy and I am glad that I decided to order something different from the very large breakfast menu. I haven't been there for lunch yet but it's on my list. read more

The pecan waffle had the perfect amount of sweetness and crunch. No soggy pecans with this. My husband had blueberry crepes and said they were fantastic. Our waitress was attentive and friendly. Ordered an ice tea which was very very below mediocre... asked for a glass of water.... but the water tasted like pool water... high chlorine content... so finally decided to get Sprite! Am new to the area, so on my recent trip to Charlottesville I stopped in to have breakfast. What an experience! The place is charming and clean and both the hostess and the waitress were attentive and cordial. I ordered the eggs benedict, with sausage patties instead of ham. The food was delivered promptly am had a wonderful presentation. The order did have ham instead of sausage, as I had asked for, but it was DELICIOUS. The hollandaise sauce more than made up for the mistake and the owner/manager apologized for the mistake. Will be back again! read more

This was my first time, so I went with the classic choice of the Wahoo Special. The breakfast is pretty standard and what you expect. It wasn't anything extraordinary. The pancakes were a bit dry. Eggs were slightly overdone making them have a slight rubbery texture. Lastly, the sausages had a little burnt crisp to them and tasted pretty eh. I wish the price was a little lower to match the portions that are given; the price was a bit high for an average breakfast. We have been coming to the Villa Diner for a long time - so has our family. Today was a sad day. The owner decided to be really rude to me - completely unprovoked. I apparently didn't answer my phone fast enough for him. It's a shame because his staff and wife are lovely. He seems stressed and bitter. Maybe he should get out of the front of house? On 4/24/24, my sister in law and I went out to have breakfast and why did I discover that they charge me somebody else order on my car. when I called to correct it they talking about i was actually paying cheaper than what my bill is suppose to be. The Villa is a nice spot for a quick sit down meal. Although I always enjoy my time there, it is very much an average diner experience. The food doesn't disappoint, but it doesn't particularly stand out either. Similarly, the environment is warm and friendly, but nothing above and beyond that of any other local restaurant. I would definitely recommend this place to someone who lives in the area looking for an affordable and filling meal, but not necessarily to someone looking to try something new or explore the great restaurants that Charlottesville has to offer. All of that being said, I will say that I enjoy going to The Villa for a relaxing breakfast with friends. I get the Super Big Complete breakfast, which comes with two eggs, breakfast meat, hash browns or grits, toast or muffin, coffee, and juice for only $8.25. Came in for breakfast on a busy Saturday morning. It was my first time at the restaurant. Originally told is was about a 20 minute wait. I should have known that was very optimistic. There was a large group of people waiting at the time. We were seated closer to 45 minutes. It seemed they gave preference to the locals or regulars. We had plenty of time to look at the menu so we ordered right away. I had a combo with eggs, pancakes, and bacon. I thought the food was bland. I attempted to remedy this was salt and pepper. It took us less time to order, eat, pay, and leave then we spent waiting. I can now say I tried what some call a staple in the community. The Villa is a nice brunch place if you want something quick and filling. We went there on a Sunday morning and were served our food extremely quickly. However, like many of these reviews say, the food was good...and that's about it. I ordered over easy eggs, hash browns, toast, and bacon. The hash browns were pretty soft (not as crispy as I would have liked) and failed to have any seasoning. The bacon was also dripping with oil and reminded me of the bacon that I used to eat during middle school lunches. But, the cost of your meal will probably end up being pretty inexpensive, so you are getting what you paid for. They do give unlimited coffee, which is great for anyone who needs a lot of coffee in the morning! read more

We had an excellent breakfast here. My wife had THEE Cavalier Country Bfast and I had THEE Wahoo ( people from Columbus, Ohio are big on the use of the word THEE). My friend had the super big complete breakfast. The omelet was delicious! The slightly undercooked egg gave a milky, creamy taste added to the dish and provolone cheese made it perfect.
