For the first time in my life, I wasn't home for Christmas dinner (other than underway) and I couldn't imagine any other place to spend it at than Vineyard Rose. My LOML and I were staying at South Coast Winery for the holidays and were lucky enough to have reservations early in the evening because we spent over 3 hours there for dinner. Obviously the wine was superb but the pancetta wrapped prawns stole the show. You ever had some food that you didn't want to finish because it was so good, well yup my prawns fell into that catagory. And when I found the last one underneath some veggies I fell into a state of depression for five seconds and then dug in, savoring each morsel as it massaged my tounge. The best part of this restaurant is that the tables are spread out far enough so that you can enjoy an intimate conversation knowing no one else will know what you want for Christmas from your naughty Santa...winky winky. read more

3.5 The Vineyard Rose offers a very nice atmosphere and is just a few feet away from the Tasting Room at the South Coast Winery. I had dessert there one night and while it looked pretty, it did not taste very good. The brown sugar cheesecake was more of a flat, round tart. The consistency was off for cheesecake and the flavor was lacking. The fresh fruit served with it was a nice, flavorful touch but the dessert itself was sub-par. We also tried the warm apple cobbler with buttermilk ice cream. It wasn't warm or a cobbler. It, too, was a flat, round tart with an undercooked crust, slices of apples and not much else. The buttermilk ice cream had a nice tart flavor but was too icy. Again, the fruit was good. Cappuccino was well made. Breakfast fared much better. I had the scrambled eggs with bacon and hash browns. Eggs were standard, bacon plentiful and crispy, hash browns standard. What set this meal over the edge was the bananas foster pancake. I do not generally like sweet breakfast but this was downright delicious and should have been offered as a dessert in the restaurant the night before. One large fluffy pancake topped with vanilla bean sauce and caramelized bananas. Only complaint is I would have liked more of those bananas! Absolutely loved this place, from the food to service it was all good. I would highly recommend it. I ate a chicken dish which was extremely good the rice had cranberries, which I was surprised because I have never had a dish with cranberries. It also had grilled pears. The chicken dish was mouth-watering. Must I mention the chicken was really juicy and tender it was grilled to perfection. My boyfriend picked out their fillet mignon, which was the right size and really thick. He loved his dinner too. I will definitely go back. read more

4 stars. This is the best place to get breakfast or brunch when you're starting your day out in Temecula. Yes, there are a few cute breakfast places in downtown, but I prefer to be among the wineries and not 15 min away. 1) It is insanely cheap. For a place with a fantastic outdoor ambiance, and service that serves women first and from the right side, paying less than $15 a person is a welcome surprise. 2) I already mentioned the atmosphere. It's lovely. Don't eat inside. Enjoy the view and weather from the veranda. You're in Temecula after all, soak it all in. Note: If they seat you down at the end of the veranda's left leg, and it's a week day, you may have to contend with loud construction noise (South Coast is expanding). Minus half a star for that. 3) Let me reiterate on the service. It is above and beyond for the price point. Extremely attentive, cordial, and efficient. Does Vera still work here? She epitomizes first class service but I haven't seen her around recently... I had Mike and Alfredo during my breakfast last weekend. While it is clear they are still learning, their service is still high caliber when considered alongside Vineyard Rose's diner prices. _____ Breakfast foods: ~ Strawberry waffle. This is their in-season fruit waffle. I expected the strawberries to be in the batter, but they were just on top. But it was good as far as standard belgian waffles go. Served with real maple syrup and a delicious coconut syrup. ~ Bananas Foster pancake. Yeah, it's infamous. Mainly because it's diabetes on a plate. I've never seen anyone finish this. And while it's definitely different, that's not always a good thing where taste is concerned. This dish is saturated in sugary sweetness that drowns out any and all semblance of pancake. I enjoy sweets, but this is taking it too far. It gets old fast. ~ Eggs Benedict. Usually served with pork loin (which is very good btw!), you can customize this with different meats (like ham), pick the consistency of your eggs (though runny is standard afterall), add accoutrements like avocado, and even change out the type of bread. Someone's order got really complicated, haha, but it came out perfectly plated and was easily devoured. ~ Coffee is served with real cream. ~ Took off another half a star because Vineyard Rose doesn't make their own whipped cream. For years, My friends and I loved celebrating birthdays by meeting here for breakfast. In years past they had the most wonderful menu: banana foster pancakes with a special sauce, delicious eggs Benedict made with grilled pork loin, baked pastries at the table, and amazing hash browns. The service was outstanding as well. It's tragic that this establishment has sunk so low that the place is pretty much empty in the morning. The service horrible. We waited 20 minutes and had to go ask the hostess to find our waiter so we could order. We asked for eggs Benedict and when it finally arrived, the order was wrong -- eggs florentine. It was cold, unseasoned and the potatoes were so burned we could not eat them. This isn't the first time it's happened. The food and service are so poor it's not worth coming back. It was great while it lasted. With all the new wineries popping up and Ponte next door, I can't imagine this restaurant will survive. read more

DO NOT EAT THEIR BREAKFAST! My wife and I just ate breakfast at the restaurant. I ordered several sides, including Country Potatoes, sausage links and fruit. My wife ordered Eggs Benedict. The potatoes were out of a bag, with green and red peppers and were horrible. The sausage links were barely warm and my wife's eggs had a "funny taste" to them. She was also served the potatoes-out-of-a-bag as well. She couldn't eat her breakfast. For a restaurant to charge premium prices for their food, they need to serve fresh food and it must be hot. My breakfast was of the caliber of the free breakfast you receive at a Holiday Inn or Howard Johnson's. I'd fire the manager and chef(s) and start over. This is unacceptable! read more

So I've enjoyed dinner here twice recently. Once in the dining room, the other in the lounge right off the bar. The dining room offers a fine dining experience, though it's not all that relaxed and the prices on the dinner menu are rather inflated for what you get. Our server when we sat in the dining room was also not super swift with the things we asked for - water, salads. My husband and I ordered the calimari and shrimp (which is a HUGE portion - big enough for 4 ppl to share!) as an appetizer. We ended up saving a lot of it to bring home for leftovers. Really, this appetizer is one of the biggest I've seen anywhere. The number of shrimp and calimari that lose their lives to go straight to the Vineyard Rose Restaurant must be astronomical! The calimari/shrimp dish is fried and it very tasty. Tip: ask for marinara sauce with it. Wasn't a fan of the mayo sauce it normally comes with. For the entree, I ordered the Vegetable Pomodoro which contained wide papardelle pasta, tomatoes, carrots, large whole mushrooms and zuchinni, oh, and some kind of parmesan cheese. I thought the tomato sauce with the veggies and cheese tasted a bit odd. Not horrible, but something about the flavors didn't completely jive or something. The wines were enjoyable. The second time we came here, we sat at the lounge by the bar. Nevermind the couple who could have been cast immediately in a Viagra commercial sitting at the table behind me (and yes, they should have just gone to their room to use that blue pill already :P) this setting was much more laid back and comfortable. Plush seats too. At the lounge area, you're served by the bartenders who take turns getting food and drinks for the tables. Our bartender, Justin (I think), was fantastic. Super attentive and made sure our dishes came out when we were ready. This time, I ordered the Pomodoro again and I liked it so much more. The cook added more veggies and less cheese this time. We also ordered the Ahi Poke for an appetizer. They give you a large portion of fish with two won ton chips for wonderful texture between the succulent fish and crispy chips. Lounge is also great in the early evening because you can see directly out to the vineyards. Makes you feel like you're in Napa. read more

Prob the best Halibut I've had.. I tried it at the Orange County location and its not the same.. Their french onion is pretty good here too and service is always great. You can do tastings there or when you pick up your shipment have then open up one of your bottles to enjoy with your meal. read more

Let's talk about the food - our order, charcuterie board for 2, Caesar salad (full) w/ chicken and tow sides, mushrooms and Brussels sprouts. Where to start... We stayed in the same hotel... wanted food - walked over and tried every back/front/side door (annoying) to get in but they were locked and it was cold and raining .. until we found a plain 'non descript' one that let us in to somewhere in the middle of diners , a sign would be helpful. We made our way to the front desk .. we were asked if we had a reservation... maybe 10 % of the tables were taken. 10 seconds after getting told there was nothing we were told they could fit us in due to a cancellation ??? obviously fronting for some bizarre reason. Ordered clams - clams ok - the broth/dishwater that it came in was full of chunks of raw garlic. Sent it back but the table next to us had some kid shouting obnoxiously so ordered then ate a few of french fries but really just wanted out of there ( you get to a point where annoyances outweigh hunger) walked to the side door/ back door with a POS station at it to the door we came in through, past many empty tables, not to return. My mum had the chicken, said it was dry - but got embarrassed as when I sent mine .. bad experience all in all. read more

I wonder if there is a staffing issue bc customer service was lacking. The food was okay. I hate when restaurants make you wait longer than when you make reservations, even when the place was bare. Our waitress was nice, but we waited so long to sit that we were just over it. I literally was looking for a new place to go eat after we waited for awhile to even be greeted. Terrible... it's so sad that on such beautiful grounds the restaurant is not good. We were a party of 6 for dinner, we ordered a variety of food from the filet to a Caesar salad, we also ordered side of mushrooms, brussels sprouts, and spinach. The food came out very, very, very salty, and then we had food that had no flavor it was as if the person in the kitchen could not taste the food that they were making. We told the manager about the salty food and they removed the sides from our tab. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone at this time. The salads we had were very good - a little too acidic dressing on the vineyard salad but the figs were awesome. The wedge salad was okay as well - nothing to write home about. OMG probably the best prime rib I've ever had. I'm still waxing nostalgic thinking about that bad boy. Sigh..... Great service at the VR. We ate their twice and were taken care of well. Of course they have a great wine list. I love how they recommend wine pairings for their entrees. My wife had the wild mushroom and duck linguini. I dont think she was a fan of the "citrus cream" but it was well prepared and tasty. I liked it, but she wasnt a fan of the sweetness of the duck. The outside could be better lit. The wait staff had to use the flashlights on their iPhones so people could read the menus. LOL. The whole place feels too big to me. They seem to be able to accommodate 10000 people, but only staff for a small number of their tables. The result is the feeling youre eating dinner at the Overlook Hotel while theyre closing for the season. The creme brule was phenom! Anyway, everything we had was very good. I plan to return! I enjoyed the food, atmosphere, and service. It has plenty of space for groups. I ordered sangria, the apple/chicken sandwich with Cesar salad, and espresso gelato. My husbands Koby burger and my daughters kids meal was also tasty ( she also enjoyed the coloring sheet). The only con is that it wasn't obvious where the restaurant was on the premises. They also have a gap periods here the restaurant does not serve food, so call ahead/check website to double check what time they are serving food. read more

We both ordered the filet mignon, mine charred rare, hers medium rare. Mine was perfect. Hers was WELL DONE! We sent it back and the replacement was raw- I mean purple. I asked the server if she thought that was medium rare and she just stood there and stared. No effort to rectify or resolve the problem. This was completely unacceptable for a $57 meal. Unfortunately for her, the tip reflected what should have been easily rectified. In an area where there are an abundance of fine wineries and restaurants, we will not be returning to Vineyard Rose. read more

We came here for my mom's birthday. It was a hot summer day and we made reservations for 10 people during brunch. I wish the hostess had informed me that there was inside and outside seating because they scheduled us to sit outside. I was worried my parents would not be able to tolerate the heat but the staff was very accommodating and moved the tables to a breezy spot in the shade and turned on fans for us. The prices are a little inflated for the basic brunch dishes they serve, but the patio was beautiful and the staff made an effort to ensure we were comfortable. Overall it was a nice relaxing spot to spend the day. We also saw a horse drawn carriage come through every now and then. If it wasn't so hot that would've been a great way to enjoy the nearby wineries, not sure how the horses were holding up though! We will need to come back during a different time of year, Temecula in the summertime can be brutal! read more

We took our Moms here, as the location looked so nice. The location is beautiful, but the customer service is terribly lacking. First impressions are so important, and the hostess that checked us in was short both times we spoke to her. We were seated and it took awhile for our server, Austin, to get to us for our drink orders. That was okay, as we were enjoying chatting. He finally came over, was friendly and took our order. Things really went down hill at that point. We received the coffee we ordered, but didn't see Austin when we were all ready for refills. We continued to wait until we could wait no longer. I saw where Austin had placed the coffee carafe, so got up and refilled our coffee, myself. My mom needed a Splenda, so I walked to a table to get some for her. Food arrived, but my mom's breakfast didn't and we were missing an order of pancakes. Austin came over and said it was due to new employees. When the missing food arrived, my mom received sausage, instead of the bacon she ordered. When we let the girl know that brought the food, she had a snippy attitude. At this point, we realized my sister never received the drink she ordered. We didn't see Austin again until we were all nearly finished with our meals. For the most part, the food was good, but it isn't a place I would refer my friends to until the customer service is improved. Management, walk around and check on the guests. I had the omelet Florentine with egg whites and everything about this dish was delicious! My husband had the vineyard breakfast with the sausage links. I don't know where to begin because I liked this popular restaurant and while it's been several years since I've visited, I am still in SHOCK. Bare with me and I will do my best to keep it as short as I can. There are many things in life that I enjoy: nice dinners, wine/alcohol, beef and definitely seafood. However, when restaurants start to alter their ingredients or quality of food to save money at the expense of the consumer that's what really rubs me the wrong way. So this is only a review on the putrid, disgusting, nauseating food at the restaurant - the staff were attentive and cordial. I dined with friends and we all chose different things - nothing good. First, the calamari fries appetizer was the oddest item of all and it tasted like some thick rubber bands covered in stale panko breading. The table bread was ok but became harder as the time passed. Secondly, the salmon was not fresh tasting, maybe it was thawed and steam cooked. The vegetables tasted like it was boiled in sewer water and the rice that came with it tasted dehydrated and covered in dry herb seasoning. To sum up, I couldn't finish anything that was on my plate. I'm still wondering about the experience and I wish I never stopped by. Do yourself a favor and stick to restaurants that have better reviews. I should've taken my own advice! read more

Sister and I took her to Temecula to try some wine tasting. Since we were staying at the hotel, we decided to try the restaurant for the big birthday dinner. We ordered the swordfish, the frutti di mare and the prime rib. We got the wine pairing selected by the restaurant with each dish. Great idea! The wine pairings were a 5 star for sure. My mom said the swordfish was "delish." I tried a scallop off my sister's plate and it was really fresh. Now my prime rib. There really wasn't much flavor. I had to **gasp** salt my au jus. I asked for veggies instead of a starch and only one portion was brought out. They did redeem themselves by bringing my mom her choice of birthday dessert gratis. She chose the Flour less chocolate cake. I didn't have any but I heard it was decent. read more

Ordered one of the largest, nicest pieces of prime rib I've ever ordered at a restaurant. Was more like a big juicy marbled steak than a prime rib. My friends ordered the steak and lobster, grouper, and scallops. We enjoyed how the two times we asked for bread, different bread came out. Both times it came with delicious garlic butter. We brought 3 bottles of wine from another winery which cost $15/bottle for corkage, $8 for South Coast wine; that was the only drawback from our experience, otherwise, the food was great, and service was awesome. read more

I brought my family here to celebrate my mom's birthday. First off, the food was delicious and very well prepared. Every item we received was hot and beautiful. Our server was helpful, kind, and very attentive. We never had a moment that felt lacking in our service. The hostess, and server were both very helpful and friendly. Spent the weekend at the Southcoast Villas so the restaurant was fabulous to be able to walk to while wine tasting. We ordered the antipasto plate as an appetizer and it was yum with the prosciutto, salami, and cheese. Dinner the first night was seared sea bass and scallops which were cooked perfectly but two scallops doesn't qualify in my books; also it was layed over a bed of rice pilaf which was OK but not great. My husband's was much better--smoked pork with Java BBQ sauce; although again it was laid over a bland tasting and looking polenta. The next afternoon's snack after wine tasting was much better. We ordered the Cheese and Honey Plate; it was fantastic with four cheeses, fruit, nuts and local honeycomb. We finished with breakfast the next day. The Bananas Foster pancakes were great with fresh sauteed bananas and covered in a creamy banana fosters sauce. I ordered the Chef's Special Hash and it was fantastic; smoked pork, potatoes, java sauce with two perfect poached eggs and a chili infused hollandaise sauce. We cleaned up both plates. Incredibly overpriced and overrated. I was very disappointed with the food. Breakfast was just OK, nothing special and certainly not worth the price. Dinner was absolutely horrible. First, we ordered a salad and asked for the dressing on the side, but it came covered in dressing. The waiter just walked away quickly before I could say anything. Let me say that this "salad" was a pile of lettuce smothered in dressing that tasted horrible (not sure what it was, something oil based, but BAD), and nothing else in it other than a few very small pieces of pine nuts and onions. It was not good and not worth $8. The ahi dinner was $30 and WAY overpriced. Whatever sauce they had on there tasted like a bowl of salt. It was HORRIBLE. I could barely even eat it. Waiter did not even come by our table much at all. Definitely not happy about the food quality or the service here. We spent way too much money when we could have gone up the road to a number of other places. read more

Our group of 8 came here for dinner after going on the Straight Off the Vine Wine Tour. Our tour guides and the surrounding wineries recommended this restaurant. It was beautiful and had delicious food (although we were slightly buzzed from all the prior wine tasting so perhaps the food tasted better than it actually was lol). A BIG CON: When asked if we wanted soup or salad with our meal, it was not expressed to us that these were NOT included and would cost an additional $7 or so! If I had known, I would not have ordered a soup since I wasn't even that hungry. But to be honest, it was quite a tasty soup... My friend and I split the prime rib and the pork chop. Both great dishes. Prime rib was juicy and came with side of baked potatoes and veggies. Pork chop wasn't dry and apple sauce complemented it well. The side scalloped potatoes were amazinggg. Our bill came out to be pretty hefty - $75 per person for everything with tip added in. Would not come here on a normal night, but a nice place to celebrate my friend's birthday. read more
