This was a gift for my family members that I REGRET DEEPLY. I called a week AHEAD of time spoke with the manager on duty to make sure reservations were solid and that they had a great server due to the fact that the reviews varied. The reviews I have seen were a bit wonky HOWEVER I know that sometimes people can be harsh and judgement can be all over the place. The reviews were CORRECT. The Host was rude beyond measure didn't even properly greet them after getting off of a call. The food took an 1 hour and 30 min to arrive. they asked for napkins, straws and a side sauce that came at the END of BRUNCh! The server that they asked for the items completely ignored them. The server also gave them a hard time about the voucher that I purchased them. Personally I feel like they treated them different bc of that. The only good part was the food was ok and the wine was great. 1 star for views & drinks. People are traveling far to come have a good tranquil time. They came all the way from LA for a lack luster experience. As high as fuel is right now its beyond disrespectful playing with Peoples TIME & MONEY. This place needs to revamp management and front of the house. TRAINING for all is needed. This restaurant has a gorgeous location - a lush flower field in February wasn't on my bingo card. The service was SO slow. We waited for 20+ minutes just for our wine bottle to come out and 20 more for my friend's virgin martini. Even through there were 7 workers behind the bar, their overall system seemed disorganized. The flat breads were decent but my Caesar salad was pretty much two heads of lettuce showered with dressing. read more

We ordered off the brunch menu and it took our food an hour and a half for two entrees. The waiter might as well not have existed because we barely saw him and then he totally disappeared and we never saw him again. This place was not crowded at all. There was only one other group of four seated inside when we arrived and only one group outside. The hostess was welcoming and kind. If you want to wait a long time for mediocre food at a beautiful location, come here. We had reservations but on a Sunday afternoon it didn't seem necessary because the place was pretty empty and you're going to wait almost 2 hours for your food anyways. Probably because the restaurant is not worth coming to. Our waiter Brian, was sitting around chatting and hanging out. He barely came to check on us. I brought my husband here for his bday and I felt so bad that I chose this place because it was a true disappointment. Andrew was the only redeeming individual in this situation. We had asked for water many times and waiter forgot to bring them. Our charcuterie board was missing fig jam. We did notify our waiter and still didn't receive it. The setting is nice though. Well, what was available from the menu when we eventually got it was very tasty, but they were clearly understaffed and didn't have enough food because half the drink menu and several food options were not available. We waited 45 minutes before we got drinks. We waited another 30 minutes before we received appetizers. We were served by someone who was not a server and he did a great job filling in, but it means on a Sunday they were understaffed. The manager acted confused when I asked what was going on so either he was not being honest or this is how it is all the time. That was the most telling. Sad because we just joined the winery. We recently hosted a bridal shower on February 28th at Bistro 1969, and it truly could not have been more perfect! From the moment we arrived, everything felt warm, welcoming, and beautifully organized.The Director of Hospitality, Kevin, greeted our group and worked closely with my aunt to make sure every detail was taken care of. His professionalism and kindness made the entire event feel effortless. Our server, Kiana, was an absolute doll! She was so accommodating, organized, and attentive to our group throughout the celebration. She made sure everyone had what they needed and kept everything running smoothly. The food was phenomenal. The truffle fries, charcuterie boards, and hummus were all incredible, and the wine selection complemented the food perfectly. Everything was presented beautifully and tasted just as amazing. One of the highlights of the day was the salsa dancing, which made the event even more fun and memorable for everyone. And I have to mention the grounds! they are absolutely stunning. There is a beautiful view from every angle, making it such a perfect place for celebrations and photos. Overall, it was such a beautiful day and we truly couldn't have asked for a better outcome. We enjoy the wine here, but wish they'd do something about the poor service at the restaurant. Food was very good, but service was sadly very slow. After we were seated, we waited and waited for someone to come to our table. We saw the servers and they couldn't miss us as we were the only occupied table inside the restaurant. One of us had to actually go up to the greeter and ask when someone might come over and at least ask if we wanted any beverages and appetizers. That prompted action and a server finally acknowledged our existence. I saw other reviews commenting on same issue over and over. Why is this still a problem and why hasn't management addressed it? Recommend visiting this winery in their wine cave section, but don't bother with the restaurant unless you enjoy being ignored and not in a hurry for your meal. read more

We came in on a Friday afternoon with a group of 15 and no reservation, and honestly didn't know what to expect! but from the moment we walked in, Kevin and his staff made the experience amazing. Kevin greeted us right away and was incredibly accommodating, getting our large group seated without any hesitation. We were seated indoors with a beautiful lake view, which set the perfect vibe for the afternoon. We were celebrating our friend's bachelorette party, and the atmosphere made the whole day feel even more special. First things first the drinks! Their Matcha Martini and Espresso Martini are hands down the best we've ever had. Honestly, I would go back just for those alone! The new food menu is phenomenal. Every dish that came out was beautifully presented and tasted just as good as it looked. Everything arrived in a timely manner, which is impressive considering the size of our group. Our server was so sweet, attentive, and made sure everyone had what they needed, which really added to the fun and relaxed vibe of the afternoon. Went for lunch today and it was not a great experience. Our server was great but her kitchen really let her down. We waited over an hour for our 2 burgers, flatbread pizza and French dip sandwich. It shouldn't take that long to make such simple food. To make things worse the French dip was extremely dry. The dried up meat looked like deli meat instead of proper roast beef and the au jus was salty. Due to the incredibly long wait for our food we didn't bother to ask for a replacement as we needed to head out and couldn't wait another hour for food. read more

Not a lot of food for the price. We also ordered the salmon and the shrimp skewers. They were both good, maybe cut back on the swipe of yogurt...If you are hungry please note they do not have sides for the entrees. They do have a couple of side options if you order any of their sandwiches. Truffle fries, side salad or sweet potato fries. The prices for the entrees are pretty high so I expected more. We ordered an old fashioned which was great and the strawberry drink which was not so great. At the end of our meal we ordered the night cap and the dessert drink which was supposed to come with a lemon bar. The waiter came back and told me that they were out of the lemon bars. He asked if I still wanted the drink and I told him no. That I would like the coffee martini instead. The bartender made it very well known that she was not happy about the change. Not my issue...if you are out of something I order then I don't want it. The view was nice and will be even better when they get the lake filled. We had reservations for 6 at 12:45. Had just finished a wine tasting at the cellar room before wandering over here for lunch. We were seated promptly and our drink order was taken. We ordered some appetizers that came out within 10 minutes. My problem was our entree order wasn't taken for 30 minutes after our appetizers were finished. We waited an hour and thirty minutes from being seated to when our entrees arrived. The place was maybe half full at the time. I get that the pandemic has made things crazy but this wait seemed excessive. We were late for our next wine tasting because lunch took 2 hours. As for the food it was good. The appetizers we had we great and the sandwiches/burgers were tasty. I was disappointed in the Caesar salad that I got with my burger. I'd give this place 3.5 stars but they really need to work on getting orders and food out quicker. read more

Visited the Restaurant at Mount Palamar tonight, and had high hopes. The winery is beautiful! Unfortunately the restaurant experience was terrible. We had reviewed the menu online and had some great options, but tonight there was only 1 option, steak frites. So we all ordered the steak frites, 2 medium and 2 medium-rare. Took a long time to get the food. Our starter was calamari with barely any Calamari on the plate. We were only given plastic utensils. When our steak arrived we asked for real utensils and they had to run around trying to find silverware and steak knives. My medium steak was so overcooked I couldn't eat it. Another order was wrong, and when they brought out the right side dish it was totally burnt. Server was nice and apologetic, but the whole restaurant was understaffed and none of the customers were getting their food. At the end we had to ask for a reduction on the bill for the items we couldn't eat. Beautiful spot, terrible experience. Would not recommend. read more

The Restaurant at Mount Palomar really exceeded our expectations!! We came in today for Father's Day and had live solo music entertainment! Perfect for the winery and ambience. Also our server Tyler was amazing! So attentive, so knowledgeable and so friendly. Tyler gave so many great suggestions for specials, appetizers, lunch and drinks! My husband started off with the Rosemary Lemon drop which Tyler explain how Justin the bartender makes the Rosemary(from the property) syrup and the lemons to make this refreshing martini! It was delicious! We also had Meatballs and Corn fritters for appetizers, grilled chicken sandwich, fennel sausage flatbread and The Pulled Pork Sandwich Special. All accompanied with Shorty's Bistro White which Shar presented to us and explained all the expansions for Mount Palomar Winery. So exciting for this winery!! Definitely our favorite spot!! We spent the afternoon with a lovely day with Mount Palomar. I have to tell you, the experience we had on their patio at their restaurant was 10/10. Excellent food and superb ambiance. Without extolling too much, I would 100% recommend the experience. Our service was Brock. He had excellent control of the menu and knowledge of the ins and outs which the restaurant had to offer. I always felt like I was in excellent hands. We ordered the Monty Burger, the Linguine Bolgnese, and a coupon apetizers. We thought the Bread with Garlic/Herb butter could have been a larger serving for the cost, but everything else was excellent. In summary, would 10/10 recommend. Would even more highly recommend Brock. Mount Palomar is extremely lucky to have him. read more

Overall, our dining experience was pretty bizarre. I booked a reservation for my husband and my wedding anniversary and called the night before to request a seat inside as it was supposed to be pretty chilly the night of our dinner. When we arrived, our first impressions of the restaurant were confusion and underwhelm. The restaurant itself seems to be in an open dining hall sort of building with very odd decor. We were greeted by a host that seemed like he had better places to be. I told him that we had a reservation and his first question was "are you OK with sitting outside?" which was strange since no other diners were out there, there were plenty of open tables inside and it was 50 degrees outside. I told him that we'd prefer a table inside and he said it would be about 20 minutes, which defeated the entire point of the reservation. We took a seat at the bar and sat for about 10 mins and weren't approached by any staff during that point. The host then came over and moved us to our table. We were pretty disappointed to find that the New York strip that they feature on the online menu was not available as this is the entire reason that we chose the restaurant, as our go-to steakhouse is closed for renovation. We both ordered something else that sounded appetizing and the food overall was good but pretty over priced in my opinion. There were some hiccups during service but the waiter was nice and courteous so we didn't mind. They did have live music being played outside which was nice however it was EXTREMELY loud. I mean loud like we couldn't hear each other talk. I ordered a piece of carrot cake to go and much to my disappointment (again) once I got home and took a bite it was stale and honestly tasted like onions. Pretty sure it had been sitting uncovered in the fridge for a week before I paid $16 for a slice. We will definitely not be returning, not would we ever recommend this establishment to others. Don't come here. The description makes it seem like a real winery fine restaurant but this is essentially just a bar with a food menu. We were the first ones here and it seemed like they were not ready for customers. The tables were not actually set like a real restaurant - just bare tables like an empty bar. Water in plastic bar cups, like in college. We were seated right away and the waiter did come but immediately informed us that the restaurant did not have any salad because someone forgot to order supplies. We ordered fairly quickly but, despite there only being two tables seated, we still have no food a full hour later. Their only explanation - "The kitchen is kind of slow today." They don't seem particularly apologetic or even surprised so I am guessing this is not unusual here. Either way, this does not qualify as a real restaurant. Oh yeah...when we told them how long we had been waiting for our food, they offered to bring pita bread and, you guessed it, didn't bring that either. Update. Food finally came out after over an hour but still missing one plate. How long does it take to make poached eggs? Last update. The manager was nice and gave us 25% off as compensation. The waiter was very apologetic in the end. So maybe there is hope for improvement. However the food quality was lacking for the price range, including for example the gourmet burger which tasted like two overcooked frozen patties. So they still need a major overhaul in the kitchen. read more

Made reservations for my daughter and I for her 24th birthday. Arrived and were sat. Staff were very friendly. However after waiting more than 30 minutes to order, we left. No one came by to take any order. People who arrived after us were being served, however no one ever served us. Was really looking forward to celebrating my daughter's birthday here. No flights available and we were told to go to the tasting room to get them however the tasting room advised we had to stay in there for the flights and could not leave. read more

Really disappointed with our last experience. It all clearly stems from poor management. They didn't staff appropriately and didn't support the team that was struggling. We've also seen it busier than it was, they only had 3 active tables during this time. They had no server for the tables, and we waited an hour until we got the attention of the bartender to come take our order. Then we waited 45 minutes until we asked for a manager to find our food. It was clear it was sitting under the heat lamp for an extended amount of time because the buns had dried out and the fries were dead. The manager was too embarrassed to deliver the food himself and we witnessed him call the bartender over to deliver the food instead him taking ownership of the situation. The manager never came back to acknowledge the situation and avoided eye contact when we left. They comped part of the meal, which seemed reasonable and we still tipped. We had an amazing Father's Day dinner tonight! We ordered the bread plate, the ceviche and the Spanish octopus. It was all SO GOOD! We both agreed that the octopus was our favorite and honestly one of the best dishes I've ever had! So tender with the perfect sauces. Thank you Chef Tony for recommending it! Came here for my dads birthday and had such a great experience! When we walked in we were greeted by two friendly hosts, and we asked to sit along the window and they put it us right where we wanted. It wasn't very busy at all for a Saturday afternoon, but the ambiance was great. Our server was Broc and he was fantastic. He was so friendly and attentive, made sure we had water throughout the whole meal and made suggestions. We ended up having the charcuterie board, calamari, and margarita flat bread pizza to share, along with some cocktails and the tequila flight. Everything was so good, but the service really made this experience fantastic. He's doing his own infusions, so the flavors are super fresh. Nice break from all the wine tasting. The prices for the food do not match up with the quality of the food. I had the beef birria chilaquiles and it wasn't the worst chilaquiles I've had, but they charge extra for any meat of your choice on your chilaquiles and even an egg. I chose beef birria and it was too salty. I also ordered the cucumber jalapeño margarita and it literally tasted like watered down tequila. I had to send it back. I got the Winery 75 and it was a lot better, but could barely taste the alcohol. Our server was Stephanie and she had a very fake, happy attitude. We could tell it was not genuine. She definitely didn't want to serve our party especially it being for a special birthday for my mom. Could've been having a bad day, but the attitude towards us wasn't the best. At the end when we all got our checks, she tried to charge some of us extra by putting items we didn't order onto our bills. I work in the food industry and customer service, but how we were treated was unacceptable. I wouldn't use a bad day and take it out onto people who are trying to enjoy their day. My husband and I have been members here for over 4 yrs. We love Mount Palomar. We were definitely disappointed the last 2 times coming here. Tiffany was our server and she was so great. Our food took over 2 hrs. When it finally came out it was very unsatisfying. The manager was so sweet and came several times apologizing, doing everything to make us happy, even gave us cocktails for free, which was very nice. We actually felt bad for the staff bc we knew it was not their fault. For service and ambiance we give 5 stars. They musician was phenomenal. For the food we give 1 star. Last night my Aunt, nephew and I had a wonderful meal at the The Restaurant at Mount Palomar. Bethany gave us a great welcome! We were able to sit inside so my Aunt wasn't cold. The Starters menu was perfect. The Brie was absolutely delicious with my Meritage and Merlot. We had the calamari with deep fried jalapeños. WOW!!! So awesomely delicious!!!! Alec was our server and made sure we had our wine and water. Our food was hot and delicious. The salmon was cooked to my perfection! My Aunt had the shrimp scampi and couldn't stop raving about it. My nephew took home the turkey wrap and French dip. (His midnight snack). I want to commend Ashley as their manager. She treated like royalty. So we are back here (Saturday) for more great food, wine of course, and jazz music! Love This Place!!! read more

I am a member here. This is the third time My husband and I have eaten here. The food is not good, and this review reflects what we had Today. We did not review the other times because we were not sure if the quality was diminished due to Covid. Tonight I ordered the calamari. It was well seasoned. But overcooked and chewy. Also it arrived cold. Who wants cold calamari? Not me. My husband was recommended the mozzarella stuffed bacon wrapped meatballs. These were the densest, driest meatballs. Not to mention that there was no mozzarella Inside the meatballs and they were supposed to be in a marinara sauce that tasted liked raw tomato paste with basil and parmesan. To be honest we joined a different winery today and were going to cancel, but we met Cole, one of their wine servers, and decided not to because of him. Please improve your food. I was fortunate enough to visit the restaurant at Mount Palomar Vineyard last weekend. The manager, Ashley, the hostess, Bethany, and our server Alec, made us feel like family. The service was exceptional. As a matter of fact we came back the next day and had the same outstanding service by these three. Before going home we stopped by on Sunday to pick up our wine that we bought and enjoyed a second day of listening to great music. Best weekend in a while and will definitely go back again soon.
