Designer Pools replied that they could check it out at no cost. Two other companies charge $150, which could be put toward repair. Another wants $55 and it doesn't go toward repair unless it is an easy fix on that visit. Their estimates are insanely high. I called yesterday and immediately made a friend. Barry and his wife Margie were here today. He was FAMILIAR and knowledgable with what I was telling him was the probable issue. Fresh solder on a burnt-out connection on the circuit board. All fixed in less than a half hour. $175. I might've paid only the $150 to the other company, but I will always go with someone who does not charge to diagnose.

This is a saltwater pool, yet instead of properly diagnosing or maintaining the chlorinator system, they routinely dump gallons of liquid chlorine into the pool every week. Actual "service" often feels limited to: * Emptying the leaf basket * Lightly brushing the pool * Adding chemicals And nearly everything beyond that becomes an extra charge: * Chemicals? Extra. * Filter cleaning? Extra. * Repairs? Extra. * Someone coming out because the system they maintain stopped working? Extra. Worse, many of the techs seemed unfamiliar with how the equipment even operates, making service calls frustrating and unproductive. What really bothered me was adding up the actual cost over three years. Once you include all the side charges, repair calls, chemical add-ons, and maintenance fees, the true cost is easily several times higher than the advertised "weekly service" price.
