I went to Wandering Tortoise for the first time with friends and family on Labor Day. They were outside grilling Swiss Mushroom burgers, lemon shrimp and street corn. I had the delicious shrimp and corn. This place was hoppin'!!! Totally packed inside! Lots of dogs too which we loved The owner Shay and the bartender helped me choose a few beers I would like. We were with our kids who are in their 30's and it felt comfortable for our friends our age and our kids. Great retail fridge too. We took some beer home. Nice place to hang out for a couple hours. Great place to meet new friends, enjoy adorable dogs and play games. This bar is just warm and friendly. Inside is nothing fancy and you can dress down and be comfortable. The owners are awesome and they have a wonderful selection of craft beers that you can get in 4oz sizes which gives you the opportunity to try a few without getting too buzzed. We went on Labor Day and once again the owners had what seems like a bbq for friends and family. The comp'd lunch started at 11am until the food was gone. What was great was it was orderly, clean and no one was being greedy. Everyone was having a great time and appreciated the fact that the owners had invited us to share Labor Day with them. Once again the food was great, delicious pulled pork with King's Hawaiian Rolls, delicious red potato salad, coleslaw, corn, watermelon, tomato salad and awesome deviled eggs. This place has completely ruined me! The beer list is always so spot on that I am no longer satisfied drinking beer anywhere else...and if I do I compare it to The Wandering Tortoise. I am personally an IPA woman and I can always find Knee Deep, Alpine, McFate and my other favorites on the tap list or in the to go case. The patrons are friendly and the atmosphere is fun! Love this place! Not only do they have a wide selection of beers, but the best part is that you can bring your dog inside. My husband and I went there with our precious little fur baby and we had such an enjoyable experience. The day we went the Ladera food truck was there so we ordered some street tacos and chips and salsa which were delicious. You can't beat beers, food trucks, and a place that allows dogs. This is my idea of heaven. I just wish there were more places like this around town. We will definitely be back! read more

Awesome place. One of the most welcoming places for dogs I have ever been to. If your dog is friendly, they can roam around and play with the other dogs there. My dog enjoyed playing with another dog there while I got to learn about the beer selection and enjoy some beers I had never seen elsewhere. Only pointer I can give is they don't serve food but they are more than accommodating to that fact. They have food trucks that show up around 5 and also allow you to bring in your own food. I think that is a pretty awesome feature though since you can enjoy whatever you choose to eat amongst a huge variety of beers. With the selection, I definitely prefer byof to byob! Very impressed with this place overall and will be returning with my pup :) read more

People complain about parking but make use of a rideshare service like Uber or Lyft and avoid driving after drinks. 10/10! read more

This place has an extensive list of beers on tap, roughly 30 and the gentlemen on staff that evening were very informative and willing to help direct you to beers that fit your preferred flavor profile. They even have a selection of beers in a cold case that you can purchase and enjoy on the premise. Wine was also available for those who may not enjoy beer, but are looking for a nice space to hang out with friends and have a drink. They have a large bar area, tables around the bar, and outside seating for guests. At each table were a few games to play; on my table there was checkers, a deck of cards, and cards against humanity available. As the night progressed a live musician got on stage and began playing his own music and even some covers. I even took a trip to the restroom and it was very clean and stocked with supplies. The bathrooms are single unisex and there is a double sink outside the restrooms, I like this arrangement because I feel the bathroom rotation goes through much quicker-even though I did not have to wait on this particular evening. They do it have a kitchen so this really is a tasting room set up with drinks only being served. Not sure if you can bring food in, but it's worth a call to them if you really want to know. Also, they have a great happy hour and serve beer in 4, 8, and 16 ounce glasses. Take note that parking is limited, but I was lucky to get a spot so maybe you will be too! read more

Came here for the first time this past Friday around 3:15pm to meet a friend for happy hour. Have always wanted to try it since it's within walking distance of my house and it has so many good reviews online. When I walked in there were 2 employees 'working'. One who glanced up at me while playing cards with a table of customers and the other guy behind the bar playing on his phone. The employee who made eye contact didn't even say hello. He looked directly back down at his cards. I said hi to him and got nothing in return. What a jerk. I was meeting a friend and I was early, but neither employee greeted me or asked if I wanted anything, etc. They both couldn't care less that a customer just walked in the door. I sat at a table since the tiny bar area was mostly full and I just kept looking at both of them for at least 15 minutes while twiddling my thumbs, and nothing. Neither one of them did anything in the way of work the entire time. They flat out did not care. I already knew I'd never return or recommend, and would have left after 5 minutes if I wasn't meeting someone else here. It's great that so many people like it here, but a little bit of professionalism / basic people skills / customer service skills / friendliness, etc. goes a long way, and neither of these 2 gentlemen possess these traits, that or they are not required by the owner? When my friend arrived some room opened at the bar so we went there. I had already told her I'd been sitting there for 15 minutes and would normally already be done with my first drink (I never wait for friends to arrive to start ordering) Anyhow we went to the bar and the bartender barely muttered a 'hey guys' to us. I ordered one beer, and knew that I would probably love to have a lot more, but there was no way I was giving this place more than $5. I got the feeling that they are already way too comfortable in the way they 'run things' here, and for a first time customer, it's very off-putting. If the bar area is completely full, which is not hard to do, since this place is so small, I honestly have no idea how you are supposed to get service here. I can't tell you how easy it would have been for me to give this place a 5 star rating, even though they have no food and no parking. Bummer. read more

Hands down the best tap list I've seen in the area. The staff is both personable and knowledgeable about the beer they are selling. Justin, the owner, was very friendly and passionate about his business, which was evident in his impressive tap and bottle selection. Food is not made on site, but there was a food truck that would serve you while you sat inside. Fries were great! Basically if you appreciate good beer you will LOVE this place.
