10/10 Great Bar, plenty of parking (GIANT PARKING LOT), friendly staff, great options, friendly patrons (besides one), all around a great environment. The only thing that soured on my experience was a douche bag named Brad who was complaining about getting stabbed by a homeless man during his four mile walk to the bar. He may have been high on meth, he kept on saying over and over "there's no parking spots!". I don't know what he was complaining about parking, but there were at least a dozen spots open in the lot. Overall was a great time, only recommendation is to maybe ban anyone named Brad from the bar. (My experience is that all Brads are douche bags) -Sincerely Better Than Brad read more

My husband and our friends went to this place after dinner last Saturday. I was excited to try this place out because my husband goes with his friends and always talked about it every time we drove by. As a beer lover, I liked how they have a huge list of beer on taps also craft beer cans on the side as well. I asked to sample 1 beer, my husband asked to sample 2 beers. When our friend asked to sample, the bartender goes 'I have to stop you right there because you guys tried 6-7 samples already. There is a limit of 3.' I did not like his attitude but thought we did sample that many and ordered my beer. After got our beers, we sat down and started talking, we realized we tried a total of 3 samples in a 4 people group, and our friend who bartender stopped actually didn't even try one sample. On top of that, when our other friend went up to the bar to sign her check, 2 bartenders (1 male, 1 female) were joking around, laughing about the situation asking 'each other can I try like 20 samples'. We felt disgusted even being in the place, treated like this from staff members. As soon as we finished our 1st drink, we ran out to go to a different bar. Great place and all, but really the people who work there make the place worse. Never going back with if I am treated with that kind of service. UPDATE: After this review, the owner Shay messaged me right away with an apology and handled the issue really well for us. The Wandering Tortoise have one of the most amazing tap lists and bottle shops in Arizona, most of the time this alone is reason enough for a five star review... but then the tortoise delivers this up with fantastic prices, great local food truck options and amazing service. The staff are all amazing, friendly and knowledgeable. New to craft beer? They can guide you. Just want a bud light? They can tell you a few other options. A seasoned beer geek? They can tell you what's new, limited or can't miss. Torrey lights up a room with her smile and melts icebergs. Sam, shay and Justin and the crew will make you feel like the most important person to walk in the doors. The glassware is always "beer clean"... just watch how long the spend polishing the glassware as they do other tasks. A can't miss beer stop on AZ. read more

Got to go here with my brother in law over the holiday. Great local beer selection along with other good beers. Staff attentive. Not sure if food yet big bar area and other seating. Most challenging is the parking. Only a few designated spots in front yet they do have an adjacent lot. But this lot is only available during specific times since it's for another business. read more

They have a really excellent selection of ipas. I'm not a fan personally but I love the environment and even if you don't like ipas they have over 20 taps and wine, so there's something for everyone. In addition they have games and a Super Nintendo, so that's fun :) read more

Came for the first time yesterday. Neat place good choice of beer for the most part did have a lot of 12 west on tap which was a tad disappointing since I live right by it. Was awesome that they had dark sky on tap however. never seen that in Phoenix. Would give 5 starts but lack of food/wine and lack of parking drops it one star. read more

Talk about a craft beer selection! We had a few different fantastic IPAs and I could not have been happier with the menu. On top of that, they are located next to a fish market that serves delicious snacks like clam chowder while you sip your beer. Such a great and lowkey spot for fans of good beer and fresh fish. read more

This little spot is a lot of fun for beer drinkers but they have a pretty good selection of wines too. It was really busy but they were still super attentive and friendly. What a cool, new bar with an impressive beer/wine/cider selection. We stopped in one Saturday afternoon right before the rush hit. We scored a great seat at the bar and thoroughly enjoyed our time there - friendly bartender and casual vibe. Next time we'll bring the dog since it is so pet friendly. They not only have an extensive beer on draft list, but also many cases of beer/cider to choose from. I ended up with a Schilling pomegranate cider and loved it. read more

Oh Damn Son!!! Just left the wandering tortoise. In a word...Oh Damn Son!!! Ok that's 3. Let's just start this review with a small disclaimer... I am an unabashed beer snob. For those of delicate fiber, now is the time to leave. I never thought that I would ever, and I mean ever, drink another product from Lagunitas Brewing. If you're a beer snob too, you know why. But I gotta tell you my faith in the Utes of America has been restored. Our young bartender Sam, a hop head hisself, recommended the Lagunitas Super Cluster. A single hop (Citra) IPA. This smooth ass, well balanced, filthy animal is running 8% ABV! But you'll never know it until they take your keys away. It's scary smooth. Sam knows brew, don't let that baby face fool ya!! Next up a sour IPA from local favorite, Wilderness brewing in North Tucson...Okay I'm a liar it's more like south Mesa. Now my idea of fruit in the beer is a lime in my Dos XX in Rocky Point, but the sour IPA with AZ grown peaches will blow ya mind! Hint... drink this one first before your taste buds are stripped away from that single hopper. T-Bone wouldn't lie to ya...much. And my crime partner had something good too, but she can write her own damn review. We brought my Old Black Lab, Smokey too. because if there's one thing the Tortoise likes more than people with money, it's dogs. Smokey made lasting friendships in an hour that he will cherish forever. The benefit of using your nose instead of a handshake. So get on over to the Wandering Tortoise and tell Travis, Sam or Tony that T-Bone (Tony B) sent you and ask for the Smokey discount. I can't guarantee what that will be but demand it!!! Really happy to have found this place. Bartender Todd was beer knowledgeable and introduced me to a wonderful beer from the San Diego area. As far as I know, they don't brew anything, but they have collaborations with providers from all over the region. Add some food trucks and you get a tasty way to spend a couple hours. My only complaint is so many IPA's! I enjoy a cool IPA, but LOVE hefeweizen and other varieties. Well done, Wandering Tortoise! read more

I've been to this place a few times. Very cool! There are 21 beers on tap at all times. We had the privilege of drinking some of the best beers from around the country. The beer selection can satisfy any beer drinker (they also serve wine). The happy hour deal is from 12:00-7:30! That's an awesome deal. There is always 1 beer on tap for $1 during happy hour, which is a crazy deal also (usually some sort of domestic or lighter type of beer, but I'll drink almost any beer for $1). We had the pleasure of meeting one of the owners and he made us feel welcome. I am not a dog person, but the bar is dog friendly. This actually wasn't a problem. The dogs that frequent this place seem pretty chill and can handle their alcohol. I will be back for sure. read more

The consistent 5-star reviews of this place are spot on. With 21 beers on tap and a super knowledgeable staff, I have nothing but great things to say. I was extremely impressed with the variety of available beers, and even had a style I had never tried or even heard of before! The whole place was small and had an intimate vibe that would be great for meeting up with friends or going on a date. It was also great that they had a ton of board games and card games to play, as well as a table with a Nintendo set up! Also, BAR DOGS. Who doesn't love a loyal furry friend to pet while enjoying a pint?! I will definitely be adding Wandering Tortoise to my list of regular spots! read more

The first thing I noticed when walking in was the awful smell. If you have dog allergies this is not the place for you. My allergies wouldn't allow me to stay, and I wouldn't have wanted to smell that while I drank my beer anyway. read more

You can pick out a bottle of wine or beer from what looks like a grocery store refrigerator, and bring it to the bartender, who will pour you a glass and keep your bottle in a refrigerator behind the bar. You then go back to him for refills, or to pick up your bottle and recork it to take it home! Only drawback is no food, but you can order in! read more

Ok selection. The packaged area could use some expansion but the drafts are great. The long happy hour (until 7:30p daily) is wonderful and the layout is just perfect. The biggest downside would be the fact that there are about 8 parking spaces total. It's dog friendly so bring your pooch and grab a new beer, you don't have anything else going on. read more
