We've had Nick out two years in a row now to clean our dryer vents. We purchased an older home a couple of years ago and I noticed a slight smell when running our dryer. Nick came out and cleaned out what was probably 10 years worth of bird nests in the vent that connects to the exterior of the house. It's not entirely flush with the side of the house so crafty little birds can get in there. This year he found another nest and also emptied out a bunch of built up lent from inside the house (I clean the lint trap ever cycle, it it still accumulates apparently!) Nick is super friendly, very free with information which I always greatly appreciate, and his work has been great quality--no more smell coming from the dryer! Agitating but not spinning. Yep. That pretty much summed up me and the week or two I was having just prior to the time my washing machine started to do the same thing. In the process of searching for an appliance repair company, I came across "The Washer Dryer Guy". Great name. Simple and easy to remember. I liked it was a small business, a one-man shop actually. He answers his own phone and responds to voice mails, and handles his own schedule. He called back almost immediately, asked a couple of questions and we agreed on a date and a two-hour window of time on that day. The Washer-Dryer Guy was true to his word. He arrived when he said he would, confirmed the information he had already and went to work. About 10 minutes later it was all over but the news. The machine was a goner. Repairs were possible, but would cost more than a new machine. He left the decision up to me and didn't apply pressure one way or the other. Since I was no longer agitating and had never been spinning, it was an easy decision. It'll be an even easier decision to call The Washer Dryer Guy again, but hopefully not too soon. read more

Not only did Nick fix the problem I called him for, but he cleaned out the dryer, inspected it, and fixed another potential problem (a part that hadn't completely broken yet, but was about to break and could have resulted in a fire). I have to say, if I would have known it had all of those problems, I probably would have just bought a new dryer. Our washer wasn't rinsing all the soap so we called The Washer & Dryer guy. He returned our call within 10 minutes and set up an appointment time with us the next day. He was right on time for the appointment and was done in less than hour. He was so nice and really educated us on what happened and what we should do going forward. Nick came out to fix both the washer and dryer that are about to 10-15 years old. My washer had water underneath it before when the load was finished, and the clothes were soaked. The dryer also was not drying well, and had gradually become slower. So he came out and fixed both of them for a lot less money than replacing them. He has extra replacement parts and put them in. Plus, He also cleaned up the area underneath them and around the areas. He's very skilled, professional, punctual, and hardworking...the job was done within a couple hours. My dryer was not working correctly any longer. I called at the end of a work day and received a call back the same day and scheduled the visit for the next day. He was professional and honest about what was wrong with the machine stating that I needed a new machine. My mom's 20 plus year old dryer wasn't working so I checked Yelp for recommendations to get it repaired. I selected Nick, who owns The Washer & Dryer Guy, because of all the great reviews. I called him to go over the problem and he was able to come out a day or so later to do the work. He quickly figured out the problem (a damaged heat coil and some fuses) and repaired it. It turned out my mom needed to get her dryer vent pipe cleaned out as well (something that was long over due and was the reason why her dryer stopped working). We were able to get that done as well very quickly too. Today Nick called to see how everything was going and if we were able to get the dryer vent pipe cleaning addressed. Nick came out today to diagnose a problem with my washer. It is a Maytag Bravos that is only a few years old. I smelled a slight burning smell at the end of a load the other night and put in a Call to Nick the next day and we made an appointment for the following morning. Nick arrived a few minutes early for the appointment. I have to admit to feeling a little foolish, as the first thing he looked at was the detergent bottle. Yup. You guessed it. I managed to pick up a jug of NON HE detergent. According to Nick, the burning smell was most likely the pump running too long trying to get suds out of the drum when it thought it had more water. Fortunately the pump was not damaged and all of the codes checked out after a test cycle. Nick only charges $70 for a service call. Much lower than some. I got a $70 lesson in reading labels, but I could not be happier with the service. Nick is a great guy and took the time to explain to me why the extra suds can mess with the operation of the washer. I have dealt with people in the past that would have jumped in and started replacing parts. (Hey! Burning smell??? That part has got to go!) Not so with Nick. He took the time to check that everything was still working correctly and that everything is operational with the washer. When I have problems with my washer and dryer in the future, there is no doubt that I will call The Washer and Dryer Guy again. read more

I called other places about coming to repair it, but one wanted me to wait at least a week and the other wanted to charge a service fee of $150. Nick is fantastic. We have called him twice for different machines over the past year. He is our go-to guy for washer/dryer issues. He came out to look at our fairly new washing machine last week. After checking it over thoroughly he narrowed down the problem to a circuit board. Unfortunately that board cost nearly as much as a new machine which we decided to go for instead of the fix. He was beyond honest about the potential fix and then took the time to help us figure out the best type of new machine for our family use.
