I called Guy on Sunday Sunday and was surprised when he returned my call and set me up for an appointment to repair our 19-year-old whirlpool refrigerator that had stopped working when we moved it out to our garage after getting a new GE refrigerator last week. Guy stated that he thought it was probably the relay for the compressor and got our model number. As promised, Guy called me Monday afternoon right on time and advised me he would be at our home in 20 minutes. Let's examine my experience with a problematic ice-maker. Upon calling this business I spoke to a knowledgeable professional that used his experience and common sense to do an initial diagnosis of the problem. This was refreshing as at many businesses you initially get a scheduler with little technical knowledge. Based on that initial diagnosis parts were ordered (at no charge or obligation to me). Once the parts arrived I was called to schedule the service visit. To be clear the initial call was on a Friday and the call back was Sunday for a Monday appointment if I was available. On the day of the service visit (I was alerted and he actually arrived earlier than promised), a more detailed diagnosis was done and it was determined that the initial diagnosis was correct. The old parts were removed and tested to verify they were indeed malfunctioning and the new parts were installed and tested. Everything is now working fine. In addition, my other appliances in the kitchen were given a quick look over and several maintenance tips were offered. Again, to be clear there was no sales pitch or upselling, just knowledgeable, helpful suggestions. I contacted Sun City Appliance after our Samsung washing machine made a loud thunk and stopped working. The gentleman I spoke with on the phone told me it was a common issue with Samsung front loading washers, and provided me an estimate which he said would cost more than the washer was worth (and likely more than a new washer would cost). He could have easily set up a service call with me, and charged me for his time to give me the same advice, but his honesty on the phone saved him a trip and saved me money. Although I didn't use this company's services, I was pleasantly surprised with his honesty, which is rare with companies these days. Sun City appliance was quick to respond and they were able to diagnose my issue over the phone, a failed diverter motor grommet in my dishwasher. He had dealt with a lot of these and knew a lot about the issue. He explained that the grommet used to be directly replaceable, and he even bought a ~$120 tool to replace them, but the manufacturer changed their design so that was no longer possible. And, not only would the grommet need to be replaced, or even just the the component that the grommet was inside, but a couple of major components, so the total cost would be almost $500 to fix (this is an $800 dishwasher, 3 years old). Faced with such a high bill, I did some research, and found a YouTube video that showed how to replace the grommet using a $7 pick and hook hand tool set from the hardware store. The grommet itself is $8 on amazon. So for $15 and about 10 minutes, I was able to fix the issue myself. After dealing with this grommet myself so easily, I found it hard to believe that he actually thought it was not replaceable, especially since he mentioned having fixed many of these. There must be other models where the grommets really aren't replaceable. In this case, it was highly accessible without any tools, and it could be pulled out with a hook. Jumping to conclusions here would have cost a lot more time and money than necessary. On the positive side, as mentioned earlier, the is highly responsive and highly knowledgeable. He was also very easy to work with while diagnosing the issue and getting a quote. I would have liked to work with him if that path had made sense in the end. read more

YA'LL......I CANNOT express how great Guy is! I called him when my oven went out. As soon as I told him the issue he knew exactly what the cause was (which jived with the research I had already done online), and came out the next day. We had to send a part off to the manufacturer to rebuild, because the part isn't made anymore. The manufacturer messed it up...TWICE. The whole ordeal was frustrating, but it wasn't Guy's fault at all. He actually made it much easier on me. He wouldn't stop until it was fixed and I had a working oven. And he charged me a very fair price. Other service providers could easily have charged me a service fee for coming out, but then just shrugged their shoulders after the manufacturer blew it, and left me with a repair bill AND having to buy a whole new oven. Guy diagnosed the problem with my Whirlpool washing machine over the phone. I have the most basic Whirlpool washing machine with the old-fashioned agitator located in the center of the top-loading machine. The "agitator dogs" were stripped causing the agitator to stop turning as it was designed to do, so he replaced them and it works perfectly! His pricing was good and he was very friendly, efficient and professional. As an added bonus, for no extra charge, he re-calibrated my dish-washing machine while he was there and told me how to give it a good cleaning to get it running like new again. He also told me how to repair the rusty spots where the rubber had worn away on the dish racks inside the machine. I contacted Guy over the weekend about my Samsung washer not draining. He got the part number for a replacement drain pump and ordered it first thing Monday morning so it would be here Tuesday. He follow up with me Tuesday and arranged to come today (Wednesday). Unfortunately the drain pump was not the problem - it's the control board, and Samsung doesn't make the part anymore....so he was not able to fix it. These high reviews for Guy at Sun City Appliance Service are no joke. I called him on Friday after my drier died. He asked me to send him a picture of the model and serial number from the drier. He called me later that day to talk about how much the motor would be and anything else he thought could go wrong. He said he could be at the house noon Monday, if I decided to fix the drier instead of replace it. It was about half the cost to fix than replace, so I made the appointment. My wife texted me before 1pm Monday to say Guy was done. I usually call Sears for appliance repair, since I buy most of my appliances from Sears.
