The Waysider is my son's favorite place! He thinks they have the best mozzarella sticks around. We recently went in on a Saturday night and they had live music in the lounge which was a fun surprise. I got the baked cod and though it was solid. My husband tried the steak tips and wasn't a big fan. We've also tried the pizza and some of the other appetizers as well. Overall I like that this spot is family run and is super family friendly. We tend to dine here at least every other week and will certainly continue to do so! read more

I went here for a Saturday lunch with a group of six. We had no problem getting a seat as it wasn't busy. They have a nice draft selection which we enjoyed along with a few appetizers that we shared. We came here last night after hearing that it was under new management. Not sure, though, how true that is. The only difference we noticed was a new counter at the entrance, and a "new" menu cover. The menus we received had worn print. Same worn out booths, same dark restaurant. We were hoping there would be new menu choices. The only thing we saw was no more prime rib. They had a page of specials for Easter Greenwich Restaurant Week. Then there was the page of specials for the night. I ordered the Italian Job. It was a grilled chicken sandwich with roasted peppers, tomato, fresh mozzarella, prosciutto, and a basil pesto spread. I expected it to be on a cibatta roll or some sort of roll, but it was on sliced Italian bread of sorts. Chicken was not bad, but only 1 small piece of roasted pepper, 1 slice of tomato split between each half, and the pesto spread was especially disappointing right out of the jar. The fries looked overdone. My husband had the pulled pork pizza. It was loaded with pulled pork, and he said maybe just a bit too much BBQ sauce, but he liked it. Our waitress was pretty good to start, admitting she was new by a few days. She never came back to refill sodas, but did bring us some rolls since we were waiting quite a while for a pizza and a sandwich. She did come by to let us know the pizza was done, she was waiting on my sandwich. Sounded a bit backwards to us, but it all came about 10 minutes after. We waited quite a while. She was suddenly overwhelmed by a couple of large tables. We felt forgotten. There's a really good chance we won't be back. The waitress is NOT the reason we wouldn't be back. read more

I have been attending trivia night periodically with family for over a year (table of 8 plus every week). My niece and her family attend 2 to 3 nights per week. The service has been terrible since the new owners took over and the quality of the food has rapidly declined. Tonight we had to return 5 out of the 8 meals that our table ordered. We also waited more than an hour for the food. My burger was raw. When the burger was returned to the kitchen, the same burger was returned to me microwaved with cold fries. 5 out of the 8 of us, did not eat our meals that were served this evening due to meals being undercooked, burnt, not the correct order, or just cold. The cook was standing in the bar area drinking and watching sports rather than cooking edible meals. Your regular customers are complaining and you are not addressing the issues. Unacceptable and I won't be back! read more

My wife and I received a gift card for the Wayside bar and Grill, I have been to this establishment before when it was other names and I really didn't know what to expect, I love the way they redid the place. I love the decor. it looks fantastic. The bartender was very attentive to our needs just as we sat down at the bar, and the bar was busy with customers, he was taking care of everybody, he Quickly took our drink order and then shortly after took our food order, everybody at the bar was friendly and in good spirits, when the food came out, it was hot and very delicious, everything went well. Small, no thrills bar/grille near the E.G./N.K. line. Friendly people, and pretty good prices. Brighter than most bars. Limited hours, and although there is parking in back, its still on the short side. Worth a look in the area, and there's a good ice cream shop next door for desert. read more

A nice surprise! We were looking for a casual place for lunch (but not a chain) and decided to stop in here (the former Mozzarella's for a Rhodie of a certain age ... ). The entrance and decor was just like the former Mozz, but the menu's definitely been upgraded! (We'll try this place for dinner as the entrees looked really good.) I had a good reuben sandwich with a solid corned beef brisket, hot and tender, and nicely toasted and tasty dark rye bread. A classic rendered well! My wife had a simple greek salad, but it was filled with plentiful olives and just enough feta so that it complemented and not overwhelmed the greens. Plus nicely piquant pickled hot peppers to add a bit of zest and zing. Waitstaff was very pleasant, friendly, and prompt. read more

Not sure what to say. The food was ok. The music was great. The service was so disorganized and just awful. Waited 30 minutes for a draft beer. Another 30 for an appetizer. Waited an hour for a sandwich which somehow they messed up and brought me a salad. The server even asked if I wanted fries but still brought salad. They offered to take it back but I said I didn't want to wait again. Didn't remove it from the bill or at least buy a beer. At one point I waited at the bar for 10 minutes to try to order a drink. There was no one behind the bar. When they did come back they literally put a 6 pack into the cooler in front of me and never looked up. Three different people served us one of which was a guy who at one point sat at the bar and had a beer. Like I said: I have no clue what is going on here. read more

Wow, i live In the neighborhood and I am lond ordered the calamari appetizer and the girl on the phone had no idea what it was. She put me on hold twice and I finally placed my order. Picked it up and it was AWEFUL! Price on line is $13.99 and I was charged $17.99. It was easily the worst I have ever eaten. Ordered it a few years ago and got sick but I figured I'd try again. Small overpriced portion that was served cold and was totally lousy. Never in my life have I ever left a bad review anywhere but I'm going to social media on this one. Our service from Elsi was "Fantastic", and the food was delicious. That being said, watch out for the decrease in portion size. I had ordered the Lobster Ravioli which apparently now only comes with 6 Ravioli and 3 Shrimp. I remember this coming with 10 Ravioli and 5 Shrimp. When the owner came over to ask how everything was, I said it is delicious however, the portions are smaller than they used to be. She went back into the kitchen to ask them, and of course she comes back and states "It's always been 6 and 3". We'll go ahead and call this "Disinformation"! The last time I had this, I commented to my wife on how good the portion was. This time she looks at my plate and noticed right away. "Wow... what happened?" Stopped in for lunch last weekend. The only good thing about this place is the bartender, Wendy. She was excellent. That's where it ended. The food wasn't awful, it just had no flavor. We got the garlic parm boneless wings and buffalo wings for an app. They didn't taste really fresh and seasoning was not very good. After the apps we got a steak and cheese sandwich. It started off with waiting 20 minutes once seated, just to put in a drink order. 20 minutes after that the drinks finally arrived. It was later in the evening, so there weren't a lot of people in the restaurant. The pub/bar area was lively and full. The waitress brought our drinks and immediately went to walk away until I stated that we were ready to order. She said she'd be back in a minute and actually did return. However the food took nearly another 40 minutes to arrive. The food was good, but not so good that I would have waited that long for it, and with only one drink each and the meals, the bill came to nearly $180 dollars for 4 of us. I have always been of the belief that great food and great service are worth a premium, however neither were experienced at the Wayside Grille. read more

Being in a bit of a time crunch, and Waysider being close to our friends' house, we figured a quick burger was best option. So, arrived at 4:30... the bar had 2 pairs of men seated. Remainder of the bar was empty. There was 1 couple in the dining room. Decided to grab seats at the bar. The female bartender couldn't have missed us sitting down, but continued her lively conversation with 2 of the guys. The men threw in a few expletives, btw, (so classy) while we continued to sit there being ignored. After a good 10 mins, we got up and moved to the dining room. Even with us walking away, we still were not acknowledged. Our server in the dining room was very nice and the burgers were fair. I think we're done here. I predict they won't last. Stumbled upon this place by chance (we had a coupon for wings) and when we got there from the outside we were unimpressed and almost skipped it. Talk about wrong impressions. The inside is way bigger than expected, with an old style nice bar, booths, tables, you name it. The server was friendly, attentive, courteous and enthusiastic, something much needed in these times of masks, and particularly impressive at 9.30 pm on what I'm sure was a busy shift. Wings and the pretzel were good, although nothing to write home about. Nothing to complain, but would not suggest this place for the food either. Good selection of drafts on tap, easy to find something to anyone's taste. There was even live music, nothing too special (most songs were slower than expected) but it fit the atmosphere and the place, we even got into a couple of steps, it was great fun. One of my favorite spots!! Usually dine in on Wednesday nights for 50cent wings and trivia!! Numerous flavors and so yummy! The fries a fresh cut daily and perfect seasoning. Highly recommend making reservations as they tend to fill up fast. Some other entrees we have had are the chicken franchises and the burgers are so juicy!! Came here with the family after visiting my mom up the street. I had been here when it was Mozzarella's but not since the change. It's a big place, a little dark inside, but when full it can be friendly and inviting. It was about 20% full last night, with only 3-4 parties in the big dining room. The menu is stacked with favorites, from pizza and pasta items to burgers, salads, soups and steaks, everything in between. Typically when I see a big menu like that, I expect the food to be average, because it's hard to be really good at that many things. Service was sub par. Our server had very little to no personality. She did not make us feel welcome or happy to be there. This was somewhat minimized by the fact that we never saw her aside from when she took our orders, delivered the food and brought the bill. Be careful what you wish for, I guess. The food was decent. Mixed reviews between the chicken BLT and meatball sandwiches (very pedestrian) to the pizza (pretty good) to the baked macaroni (great). Prices were high average for this type of place and quality. You won't be overwhelmed, but won't feel you got a good value either. Sodas came in 12oz glasses with about 8oz of ice. You'll need a refill if you see the waitress. Good luck with that. This has the potential to be a really good place. It it a great menu. It is a great location. Prices are pretty good if you enjoy the service and atmosphere. Step those things up and maybe it won't be named something else in another year or two like it has been three times already... read more

I tried to respectfully handle this matter privately with the restaurant itself but it did not work out and I have not heard back from them. I just moved nearby and tried this place out for the first time, I ordered the buffalo chicken grilled cheese and everything looked soo good but when I took a bite of the sandwich the piece of chicken was completely RAW. Like fresh out of the refrigerator RAW. I ordered through door dash so when I called the restaurant they told me I had to take it up with them (which was understandable) so I did so, only DoorDash decided they were only going to refund me part of what I paid and I also was unable to eat the food at all and I was so nauseous all night. I'm one to give second chances but I don't think I could chance that again. Out of all things to mess up and serve someone RAW CHICKEN should NEVER EVER be one of those mess ups. read more

I have only tried this restaurant through their delivery but it was divine. Stuffed eggplant was incredible. The Gorgonzola steak tips were cooked to a perfect medium (for take-out that's a big win)! The Texas Mac and cheese was nice but could have used more bbq sauce and less fried onion strings. The French onion (yes, to-go Swiss is just as good ) and chowder were perfect. We heard The Waysider was recently sold, so we figured we would Re-try this restaurant with the previous owner it was much better run, as Linda the old owner was always helping with all areas of the restaurant, as it was always busy. NOW this restaurant has a new owner and it's very disorganized. We have given it 2 attempts and we will Not be back . Our 1st visit after new ownership We were seated and the girl who seated us never asked if we wanted a drink , she sat us at our seats and she was sitting other patrons to their seats , brought them drinks and appetizers and we still were sitting there with not one employee asking us if we've been helped, we sat for 30 minutes with not 1 person coming to see if we needed anything. 2nd attempt as we decided to give it another try as we thought, new ownership they have to work out the Kinks. The same exact situation happens and this time a waitress walks by us and I said excuse me can we order a drink, she said I will be with as soon as I cash this table out. We patiently waited 20 minutes and she never returned while another waitress walked by us and I asked her if she could get us a drink, her response was , sorry this is not my table but I will get your waitress for you. We gave it another 5 minutes and once again walked out with another horrible experience . As East Greenwich has so many restaurants they need to get organized. We will not be giving The Waysider with the new owners a 3rd chance, as we have plenty of choices in the same neighborhood with a much better atmosphere, Bartenders and Wait staff . It's disguised as a bar, but they have a large dining area! This is one place I am so glad I came across!! You DO NOT want to miss this place!! The food portions are huge, enough to share! You may not want to though since EVERYTHING IS DELICIOUS! The clam chowders (red & white) were so good on a cold NE winter day. The fish and chips were fried to perfection, without being soaked in oil, and the New England clams "little necks" were served with an amazing butter sauce that was perfectly soaked up with a fantastically seasoned and crunchy garlic toast. We recently moved to the area and we were looking for a new restaurant to try and the Waysider Grill was a great surprise to find. I've been there three times now and I can honestly say that I've liked my food on all three occasions. I've had the all you can eat Sunday dinner and it was way too much food for the two of us to eat but other than that it was delicious. I also had the Gorgonzola beef tips with mashed potatoes, perfectly cooked, delicious and I've had the southwest salad I believe. AKA Mozzarella's AKA Fitzy's. Haven't been here since they changed to current name, it's been awhile but decided to give it a try. Not sure if the menu was bigger under previous names, but there's still lots to choose from for any appetite. Most of the restaurant is the way I remember it - TVs in corners, Keno screens up, not the most brightly lit dining room, but I'm not complaining. Tried the pulled pork sandwich, got baked beans on the side. Each was a good portion. Also got the boneless chicken wings with the Korean BBQ on the side. If you haven't tried it, you should. Waitress was unsure of its level of spice but it really wasn't bad, especially having it on the side. While the wait was a little longer than preferred, I just find the restaurant understaffed. Therefore, the food took a little longer, the waitress didn't get to come around as often as I'm used to (think she was also on the bar side, but I could be wrong) but she was there for drink refills and to check on how our food was when delivered. Waitress was very friendly, informative, and for the many alterations with our order everything came back as it was ordered. TIP: If you're ever bored with life ask for some dinner rolls and order the boneless wings, now you have a sandwich.
