I ordered delivery from The Well and while most of my sides and dessert were great, I paid $32 for a medium Wagyu steak and when it arrived they had cut it in half. All the juices had ran out and it was so dry I had to use my knife like a saw to cut pieces off it. I'm assuming they did this to check the doneness but a good chef doesn't need to ruin the steak by cutting it in half to know if it's properly cooked. I also was really excited to see bread and butter I could actually eat on the menu, and ordered it imagining thick chunks of bread. It's actually just 2 slices of sandwich bread from GFY kitchen for $8?! That's insane lmao. Buttered toast for $8. The roasted apple is INCREDIBLE though. She acted perplexed when we asked for it to be removed from the check at the end when she finally returned to our table. This restaurant was delightful! I had the caesar salad with salmon and an immunity shot and my friend had an avocado toast and a meat dish (I forget what it was called!). Everything tasted exceptional and was healthy, gluten-free, and seasoned perfectly. I was only visiting Austin, but if I lived there then I'd hit this place up often! One of the owners was there and he was super kind, too. They deliver and they're soon going to be adding a dinner menu and healthy cocktails soon. Highly recommend! I've eaten breakfast, lunch, and dinner here and have to say that the breakfast and lunch is the best. Healthy breakfast options, delicious drip coffee (a rarity), and the smoothies- YUM. For lunch I had the vegan Caesar and added salmon, definitely solid. Bone broth is BOMB. So now to dinner. The dinner was described as "culinary" but the flavors just weren't there. The dishes LOOK great, but... I couldn't taste the matcha in the matcha sea bass. Prawns were also okay. Flavor lacking. Risotto was also just okay. Met up with friends for Sunday brunch. Plenty of outdoor seating! The food was great! The mole sauce on the chilaquiles was very flavorful and would definitely order again, a must try. My partner ordered the chia + basil see pudding and was blown away of how great it was! The down side of the meal was the bad service, not sure if it was because we sat outside, but the waitstaff hardly checked on our table. Water refills hardly happened. Hard to find wait staff as the juice that was ordered with the meal was left out. We brought our 3 month old with us, during mid meal, my partner took a break from eating to feed our daughter. During the baby feeding, a waiter came by and picked up the chia seed pudding assuming she was done and asked if she was finished with the plate in the waitstaff's hand. As the waitstaff touched the half eaten pudding and utensils, we were turned off after our eating surface was touched. Just a heads up for any parents with strollers, outdoor seating is kind of tight for manuvering stroller around. Would be on the fence on coming back. read more

I'm thoroughly impressed with The Well. I was excited to try it and was pleased with the meal I ordered. I got the chicken salad toast and it was amazing! Served on gluten feee bread, the chicken is perfectly cooked and paired with avocado, peppers, tomato, sprouts, and an egg (I ordered mine without just because I prefer no egg). For being gluten free, the toast was I also ordered their cacao hot chocolate... SO GOOD! 10/10 recommend. They were short staffed so the food took a bit to come out, but one of the partners was onsite and was so sweet about it. She apologized about the wait and offered us drinks on the house as well as dessert. That is what I call good customer service. I will be coming back because of that and their amazing food. Disappointing cannot even begin to describe my first time at the Well. We are WFPB and recent positive reviews on this spot, made us very excited to try this place right around the corner from our home. My partner used to work next door, and he remarked that the vibe never seemed good. Boy was he right! We went as group of 4 last night. Service is atrocious. One was training and the other server just didn't seem to have a handle what was on the wine list or not. They were very nice.... But both servers managed to spill my wine and not even notice or wipe it up. Speed of service was SO slow, despite the fact that there were only 4 tables on the patio. The guacamole was tasty, and the menu was promising. But after two mediocre bottles of wine, and the Fel just not being available, it was time to move onto another for place dinner. In town for the US Formula One Grand Prix. This place was highly recommended, so we thought, we'd give it a try. My sea bass main smelled off. Unequivocally, so. I didn't eat it. I have a flight to catch tomorrow, and I wasn't about to risk an upset stomach, or worse. Seth, our server never bothered to ask me about the food, or notice that I didn't eat it. So, I just paid and left. I even left him a standard tip, as I know how people in the service industry have been suffering, in the past 18 months. This is a real disappointment, as my Mushroom Conserva starter was truly world class. I have eaten at Michelin-star restaurants in Paris, Tokyo, Copenhagen, New York, California, and Tuscany... I've eaten here twice for brunch. The service and food has been great. My wife has a gluten allergy, and I asked her what she thought. She said it's just so nice to be able to go to a place where she can have anything on the menu and not have to ask a millions questions, and eat with no fear. I recommend the chicken bone broth.
