A coworker kept recommending this place and I finally had the opportunity to try it out. As much as I like pizza, I don't really like pizza as a whole. Sounds contradictory, right? I love the toppings, especially the cheese and meat with a bit of the sauce adding flavor. Crust is my least favorite part of pizza and I'm known for eating just the toppings and leaving the crust. Traditional red sauce is my second least favorite thing about pizza. All that being said, the meat and cheese portion, while very flavorful and delicious, were scant. But in a surprise twist I liked the crust and sauce. I actually ate the whole slice. The crust is hand stretched very thin, so thin that it hangs limp when picked up. Perfect! The less crust the better. But the edges had a nice amount of crust that had a good chewy, sourdough-ish taste that went well with the deeply flavored red sauce. They have a gourmet selection of pizzas. I would try them again but would look for something with more substance in the toppings. read more

Great pizza in a very funky cool location. Met by friendly staff, got my to-go pizza on time (a little ahead of estimated ready time!), and had a taste of a superb nitro stout on tap. Meatball pizza was fantastic - sliced lamb-beef meatballs, perfect amount of tomato sauce, and flavorful Calabrian peppers in the mix. Margherita pizza was also spot-on - simple blend of cheese, sauce and basil. Crust was worked perfectly - tons of flavor but not leathery or dry as with other places in town. 2nd time in. 1st time was OUTSTANDING! Ordered two pizzas and they were masterpieces. Please note we've been to New Haven's famous Peppe's multiple times and know what a coal fired pizza should taste like. Went in today, had excellent salad, the white bean dip is to die for. But the pizza was charred. Look I know temps and/or cooking times are sometimes hard to manage in really hot ovens. I guess what bothers me is the fact they thought it was OK to serve. I was very excited to try this new pizza place, because I am always on the hunt for the best pizza. A Wheel Apizza Pub did not disappoint. When I walked in I was greeted with a smile, and from the start felt at home. The vibe is easy, friendly and light. With plenty of room for largish groups. There are lots of food options on the menu and I have to say I was not disappointed with the pizza. It was really good! Coming from NY I was a big fan of the crust. Next time I'm gonna try the meatballs and tomato pie. I will definitely be back cause this is my new favorite pizza place. read more

This review comes with mixed emotions... I cannot recommend this place as not once but twice they screwed up my pizza and in a BIG way! I have only eaten here three times and two of the three times they made mistakes. . First visit I came by myself and food was great. Next visit I come with partner, we ordered two pizzas, one a mushroom special and the other with the option of sausage or tempeh sausage, we choose tempeh because my partner DOES NOT eat meat. Our mushroom came right out and we were told that the sausage & pepper pizza would be out shortly because they screwed up our pizza and put the pork sausage on it. Fast forward to the second visit and we order and appetizer and the sausage and pepper BUT with tempeh sausage. Pizza comes out I SPECIFICALLY ask the gal if it is tempeh and she replies with a confident "Yes!" We dive in and two slices into it we are approached with a wide eyed server stating that they screwed up our pizza and gave us a meat pizza. The unforgivable part was that will keep me from coming back is that my Partner is vegetarian! He has chosen to not eat meat for many reasons and tonight he was robbed of his choice to choose. We did our diligence in verifying and instead of taking a minute to verify they chose not to. This has effected my partner profoundly and displays a lack of care for other people beliefs and for that I will not be back. read more

My 2nd visit to The Wheel. It just keeps getting better each visit. My 1st visit was during the carryout only COVID phase earlier in 2021. As a east coaster and semi-annual visitor to Eugene, I was excited to see that during my visit the first week of December (2021) - in-house dining was open. With an allergy to garlic/onion/chives, there are not many pizza parlors where I can dine on anything but salad. Enter The Wheel - with a small alteration Moby Dick is pizza I can eat. And it's out of this world! The beer and salad are also very tasty. I ended up taking an additional 4 pack to go. The staff is first class, hustles and makes you feel at home. Even though I didn't cook the food for dinner tonight. I may as well explore my neighborhood on my evening off and try some new places before I say goodbye to this town. I have been living in Oregon for 14 years and never had better pizza than I did today. We started with one of the craft cocktails, (really good pour!). We had sausage and pepper pizza and it was the bomb! The beer (house brewed) is amazing, the kale caesar, and the roasted cauliflower were all beautiful. Our first time there was In October the special pizza came with wild chanterelle mushrooms. It was love at first bite. Combined with excellent tap beverages a decent red wine it was all delicious. Plus a great atmosphere with a definite Cascadian vibe. read more

Came here for the beer, so I can't speak about the food. Expected good beers with the brewer background, and they were fairly good. Standout was Moondust, an all Brett pale ale. Dark and Stormy stout really needed more body, and probably coconut combined with the rum barrels to make it a real tropical stout. Others were OK. read more

It's east coast new haven in the basic way but these guys go much more cray west coast on the toppings. While the flavor of the pizza is decent with a pretty good char, nothing outstanding, a 14" ultra-thin crust size for $30 as the only size option is limiting. Overpriced and doesn't cover. If you're hungry or have a family of 4, prepare to unreasonablly shell out for more, or be hungry afterwards. Not worth a repeat. The beer is fantastic. I had the Quest Pilsner and West Coast pale ale. Bothe were delicious. The pale ale is almost like an IPA. Slice of pepperoni was delicious. I also got the wings which I do not recommend. They are smoked and finished in the oven. The flavor is good however the skin was rubber and chewy. What a disappointment. We had beef here several times before and had told our friends how great the pizza was so when they visited we went there. Usually the crust was the best part. A bit of a char on a fluffy crisp crust. This time the entire bottom of the crust was completely burnt. The red sauce was extremely salty & the basil was raw, sliced & you couldn't even taste it. $30 for the worst pizza we ever had. Never going back. read more

Came here today for dinner with my family. The friendly attendant greeted us and gave us menus. She then went over the specials. Immediately I saw a pizza that caught my eye and a beer to match. We ordered from the counter. We picked the table by the garage door to watch the sunset. The pizza came out in a suitable amount of time. The pizza was very tasty and unique. We had a potato and leek pizza. My dad and fiancé had a sausage and pepper pizza. Everything tasted delicious and our beers were yummy too! The people who work there were all friendly they check on you and ask you how everything is tasting. This place is incredible. I didn't read the reviews prior to coming and this was one case where that was the right call. Seldom do you run across a place that's a local hang, but deserves international recognition. It's that good. I'm not a beer aficionado, but the selections were stellar. I had a homemade cream soda, and if that alone was the highlight I would gladly rave. Such a rare treat. The Connecticut style pie was amazing. The smoked wings were fresh and incredible.
