I came here for brunch. I love the esthetic of the space. It has a bar vibe and seems like it's a good hangout spot for sipping coffee as well. There is a living room like space. My husband and I shared breakfast here one weekend. The cafe was not busy at all and the staff seemed the same way. Awkwardly you order and one section for food and another for drinks. There was no one that offered to seat you, or ask if things were ok. I get it, it's a coffee shop! My husband ordered pancakes and I ordered a breakfast sandwich I was forgotten on my order and had no remind staff what I wanted. Got an excuse ! But order was produced. If you want a place to hang out and drink coffee while studying with wifi that you have to renew the online certificate log in every 3 hours, look no further! White Hart has everything just described! The food here is fine and the coffee (despite me not knowing anything about coffee) tastes like coffee. They have an option where you can effectively have unlimited coffee for a small upcharge so this place is a fantastic place to sit down and get lots of work done. The most surprising thing about this place is the French fries are really really good. Like better than a coffee shop should ever have invested in. It leads to this really cozy odd vibe where you see people with unlimited cups of coffee and massive plates of fries hanging out and doing work on these wooden tables. I will also add that the wooden chairs, despite being made out of wood, are really really sturdy. Often times, wood chairs are like falling apart at the seams or due to loose screws, but this place has really good furniture. Some of the tables are a bit wobbly but so be it. The baked goods here are phenomenal despite them not having any apparent oven or capabilities to make any of the stuff they serve. Its a bit pricey but everything is worth eating (so far I've had two cookies, a muffin, a scone, and a Danish, everything ranges from good to fantastic). If I lived downtown I would be at this café every day, but unfortunately I'm only able to come here due to it being spring break. The only qualm I have is that some of the wall sockets are super super loose but not a deal breaker at all! read more

Cappachinos we're good and the order taker was friendly. The cook was not friendly and the food was overly spicy, he seemed annoyed that we had all ordered food for a 7 top, three hours before closing time. Substitutions were made without notice until the food arrived. For example, the Bodega bowl which is supposed to consist of scratch noodles in a broth with stewed cabbage and onions had no broth and jalapeños were substituted for cabbage. The food was not good. Inedible for the three folks that ordered it. Same goes for the Steve Martin, substituted jalapeños for cabbage. The Roots were bland. So sad to give this such a bad review. I used to love white hart, but this was one of the worst meals I have ever had. For a $9 chicken biscuit without any sides, it better be incredible. But the biscuit was small and crumbly, and and fried chicken breading soggy. The fries were really bad. No crisp to them and very soft. The bacon was stale tasting. The eggs over cooked. We stopped at the cafe on our way through town for a quick bite to eat. It's really conveniently located, and we were fortunate to have no trouble with parking on an early Sunday afternoon. They are enforcing masks, social distancing and limited seating. I got the avocado toast with scrambled egg on top as well as a white chocolate macadamia nut scone. The toast was perfectly crispy and there was about 1/2 an avocado sliced up on the toast. It also looked like there were 2 eggs that were scrambled on top, so not a bad portion size at all. They forgot to bring out my scone, but thankfully I remembered before we left so I could get it to go. It was literally the perfect scone - I managed to share one bite and proceeded to devour the rest of it! Seating is tricky due to Covid restrictions, so just bear that in mind especially if you're in a larger group. However, if you're looking for a much better alternative to chain restaurants, absolutely make your way here for breakfast and lunch! read more

By far my favorite classic coffee shop in Lynchburg. It was the first one I came to when I moved here, and it has been a favorite ever since. I love the food options as well as the coffee, but the vibe is my favorite thing about the store. My recs include any breakfast item on the menu--specifically anything with potatoes as they have some wizardry about how they make those new potatoes have that fluffiness with the outer crunchy layer. What I love about coming here for a meal too is that they not only have the traditional selection of coffee/espresso bevs, they also have added kombucha to the menu, and they carry a VA native brand that is always coming in with great flavors. I always end up getting a drip coffee or a latte when I come in as the bar can tend to get backed up from how busy it gets, but normally when I come I try to give myself time to have a seat and stay a while as the storefront itself is one of my favorite spots in LYH. It's a spot that tailors itself to anything from meetings to study sessions to first dates. I always feel a burst of the true LYH when I walk in, and I wouldn't have it any other way! read more

Anyway I ordered them traditional breakfast that supposedly comes with two eggs and three pieces of bacon as well as potato medley and toast. So they asked if I wanted fruit. I said yes. Then my plate comes with no potatoes. If it was a substitute then tell me. Would've rather had the potatoes than the bread tbh. Also I got two pieces of bacon instead of three. Bogus. First time coming here. Ordered 4 drinks. 2 chocolate milkshakes, a chai latte, and a black coffee. It took 30 minutes to get our order. The lady was drinking her own iced drink and taking bites of food while making all of the drinks. Both milkshakes ended up being vanilla, I didn't correct the lady because it took long enough to get the milkshakes in the first place. Continued waiting for the chai latte - watching her use a blender thinking she accidentally made an iced latte but then she delivers the drink to an employee who's also working. She forgot all about the chai latte and only asked us if she forgot something because we were looking at her wondering if she was still making it. Finally got the chai latte and it tastes like peanuts... ? Anyways, I had two drinks & dumped it in the sink at home. Overall I think everything we ordered was a waste of my money. read more

As a student in the area, coffee shops are a common stop to study or meet with friends and White Hart quickly won my heart and has kept its title as my favorite ever since. The atmosphere is so cozy and homey. I enjoy its vintage vibe, without trying too hard. The music is always calming and cozy as well. The workers have always been kind and helpful. Kaycee in particular has great energy and is always happy to help you. All drinks and baked goods are served quickly and are very good. The full menu however surprised me. I tried the BLT and wasn't sure whether I would be getting my money's worth, for it was just slightly on the more expensive side. But when it came out I was very happy to see that the plate was full of food. The sandwich was a generous size and getting the side of homefries was an excellent decision. There was enough food for me to take home for lunch the next day. The sandwich itself was incredible! The signature bacon was delicious and the fries were well seasoned.
