This place has been here forever and we have always wondered about it. The whole experience was strange. There's a bar on one side with a wall separating it from the "dining room" but there are windows so you can see over. There were chairs stacked up in the corner next to a defunct retro game. It felt like I was in the basement of an Elks club in the 80s. All it was missing was a cloud of smoke and a pull tab machine on the wall. It was us and another couple that I overheard say was also their 1st time in. The waitress said the prices for all steak and chops were $5 more than the menu. Bringing my steak to $33. We became very concerned when a nervous cook kept popping in and out of the kitchen accompanied by the sound of a microwave door opening and closing several times. The neighboring couple asked what was good and the waitress just stared reading the menu off. My husband ordered a burger and fries. The burger looked pretty good and the fries were hand cut but there were only about 10 of them. My steak was cooked appropriately and tasted good but 50% of it was fat so that was disappointing. It was served with the Veg of the day (a mixed bean blend) and a small baked potato. The beans were watery didnt have a speck of seasoning or butter on it. It looked like something youd see on a tray at the old folks home. The potato was small for a baked potato but adequate. The waitress had also asked if we'd like bread. When it came out it was 2 slider buns with what I assume was margarine. It wasn't edible. My husband ordered an IPA for his first beer and said it was skunked. No one else came in the whole time we were there. 6:30ish on a Saturday and the only 2 couples there were newcomers. I dont know what that says about the place. Can't say I'd order a steak again but I might return for a burger. read more

Good food and service. Got there early on a Friday on a cold January day. Took awhile for the dining room to warm up but we managed. The perch was very good and I will definitely have it again. My friend had the ribs and enjoyed them. Service was great and friendly. Worth checking out again if you haven't been for awhile. read more

I visited The Rib Cage in a party of 8. The dinners were all excellent. Everyone gave the food high marks. I had the lamb chop special. There were 4 large chops perfectly cooked to my preference. The chops were tender, juicy, and flavorful. Other diners had large portions of spare ribs, shrimp, frog legs, prime rib, and egg plant. The sides of baked potato, vegetables, twice baked potato, and the greek salad, were all very good. The dinning area is unpretentious, quiet, and comfortable. With no loud background noise and a medium sized dinning area, conversations came easy. The cooking staff appears to be limited in number, so take your time, have a drink, and enjoy your company. read more

Went for dinner tonight and was soooooo happy that we did! Modestly priced, everything isn't ala carte(!!), very clean, meals/food was solid, and, above all, service was on point! With ladies were attentive, courteous, timely and very nice (especially our primary server! Outstanding) So glad to see that these places still exist in such an abysmal market as Toledo. Can't understand how we are a test market (or were). Would highly recommend! Eat local!! read more

Service very poor Don't recommend Took over an hour and half for food. Never asked if we wanted more to drink or if we needed anything. When they brought our food out they placed it on the table in front of us. Then picked it up from that table and brought it over and gave it us after it was at their table. Got the shrimp basket, my 4 shrimp were good but no cocktail sauce and never brought out my coleslaw. I saw her drop something so thinking it was my shrimp. Went there last night to celebrate my birthday with friends. Not very crowded. Took a 1/2 hour to get a drink. Only one waitress. Took 45 mins from our salad to our main course. Two of us ordered steak. They were bleeding and we did not order it that way. She took it back three times and it was still pretty raw. Every inch on every table top/ counter was filled with dirty dishes. The sides were not cooked. I used to love this place. It is such a shame. $150.00 lesson learned. The owner was cooking and she did not know what she was doing. If you can't staff it properly then close the doors. I have never written a review so I think that speaks for itself. read more

Since the Rib Cage recently reopened with a new owner, my parents have been wanting to check it out so we went for dinner on Wednesday 7/12/17. The bar area was pretty full, but the dining room was completely empty. It had a very nice atmosphere, and our waitress was very friendly and very chatty. The menu was pretty dated, but if you're looking for steak and a baked potato, this is the place for you! I had the land and sea which came with a side salad, 6 oz filet, two pieces of fried perch, a few fried tiger shrimp and choice of side. I chose the "potato casserole" because it sounded different. It was not. It was a twice baked potato. A delicious twice baked potato, but a twice baked potato all the same. I could have done without the salad as it was a solid "meh," but my meal was delicious. The steak could have been seasoned a bit more, but the cook was perfect. The shrimp and perch were both excellent, and I really loved the amount of horseradish in the cocktail sauce. The bar was unfortunately super basic with very little variety. I'd recommend sticking with basic beers or a cocktail as the wine selection was limited to maybe 5 bottles. It was a nice meal, but not a place my husband and I will likely go to by ourselves. read more

The Rib Cage, small little restaurant with all tables, so big guy seating approved. But that's where the good stops. We went on a Saterday at 5 30pm. they are open from 5pm-830pm. They were out of the calamari, for most items on the menu it says comes with two sides, they only have 3 to choose from, stewed tomatoes green beans or asparagus they ran out of asparagus at 6 p.m. The waitress, although very nice, was not very good. I got a filet medium. it was so blue I had to send it back, and I never said anything back. Everything was cold and it was very expensive for what you got. I hate to come on here and leave a bad review but I just have to be honest with my experience I don't see it staying open much longer with this management also I heard from other tables as they ordered, a lot of stuff on the menu, they were out of. I wanted it to be so much better. It's just not up to par with other restaurants at that price point. read more

I have seen this place many times driving by it, but never been our heard too much about it. We randomly decided to stop in and try it. Other than a couple regulars at the bar, no one was here. There were more staff hanging around the bar than customers. The menu was quite large and we tried the escargot. For 8.99 it seemed like a good deal. It actually was pretty good. The salads were basic, nothing special. The ribs were very tender, feel right if the bone. The sauce was cheap, nothing special. The fries and onion rings were just what you would expect from out of a frozen box. The chicken fingers were homemade and very good. Prime rib was a very good portion and quantity. Overall it was ok. Maybe a little pricey and the decor was definitely out dated. I probably would not go back again given all the other options in town though. read more

I honestly don't know where to start. My husband and I tried out Rib Cage with some friends, because no one had ever heard of it. Looking at the reviews, photos, and menu, we weren't overly impressed. However, we wanted to give it a shot. I saw that they had seafood, so I was excited to try it. When we got there I asked our waitress where they got their seafood and fish from. Her response was, "Well we get our Lake Erie Perch from Lake Erie.". Fair answer. I had a friend that requested the escargot that she had been looking forward to ordering. They no longer serve escargot. I ordered the walleye with their homemade chips, green beans, and a side salad. The walleye was decent. The green beans tasted like they were canned and had tomato juice in them possibly from the other vegetable side they offer-stewed tomatoes? I received a twice baked potato instead of the homemade potato chips I asked for. My husbands steak was cold. The waitress took it back and then brought it back after heating up one side. She apologized and stated that his steak had been kept in the warmer 5 days prior and that someone had bumped it and turned the warmer off. The waitress seemed like she didn't know the menu or what she was doing. There were 3 tables filled in the room and we hardly saw our waitress. The prices were crazy expensive and outrageous for what was being served ESPECIALLY for such poor quality. I have never said this before, but I will not be returning to this restaurant. read more

The food is amazing! I had the escargot for an appetizer. Well seasoned. Delicious. The entree was a potato encrusted white fish that was so big I thought I couldn't finish. I made room. The white fish was delicate - perfectly seasoned. The potato crust kept me coming back for more. The meal ended with the best bread pudding I've after had (and it's one of my favorite desserts!) A bit on the higher end but more than worth it. A date night staple for sure. read more

The vaguely surgical name might be a turnoff, but the ribs, steaks, and chops here will be a turnon. The Rib Cage is a great afterwork dinner spot near the Arrowhead Park office complex. We used to come in week after week for good savory ribs with plenty of sweet, sticky sauce. The steaks are good too, and the rack of lamb is well prepared. I hear this place was once good back in the day, but unfortunately that is no longer the case. My husband and I stopped in because it is really close to our home and a friend remembered them being good. Let's start with the good: The coleslaw is amazing. If that was all we had, this review would be much different. After that, the bread and butter were tasty. We had the calamari for an appetizer. I found it passable, nothing horrible but nothing great. It could have been a touch more golden brown, and the sauce was okay. My husband thought the oil could have been drained a bit more. My house salad was fine, again nothing remarkable. I had the veal Marsala with twice baked potato and green beans. The veal pieces were something of a quality I would think a Chinese takeout place would have. The mushroom sauce was okay. The twice baked potato was also middle of the road along with the smaller than expected portion of green beans. My husband has the 'king' portion of the ribs... thinking that if the sign advertises it them, they should be tasty. We were wrong. The first rack was fall off the bone, but there was absolutely no flavor in the meat. I am guessing they dont cook the ribs in anything or even give it a rub with any kind of seasoning. The sauce was sweet but average for BBQ sauce. The second rack was horrible. It was dry and just as flavorless as the first one. Blech. The fries were unsalted. What really put me from a 2 star rating to a 1 star rating was what my husband saw in the bathroom: urine splattered picture. 'nuf said. Not going back. read more

My wife and parents just had a great dinner here. I had the ribeye steak and it was cooked perfectly medium as ordered. The fried clam strips were delicious as well. My wife and mom had the grilled shrimp and dad had fried seafood sampler. Everyone really enjoyed their food and the service was great and quick. We visited once a few years ago and weren't impressed. Thought we'd try it again since we live in the area. Location is convenient, parking a breeze. They have a lovely bar area with dim lighting and a few big screen tvs separate from the dining area. We walked right in, no wait. We're greeted promptly. Dining room is small, sl dim lighting, nice but tables could use table cloths to classy it up a bit. The menu was good size nice choices. Our wait staff was knowledgeable and friendly. Two of us had drinks, margarita and dirty vodka martini, both were excellent. Food came out promptly. Between party of 5 we had BBQ ribs, prime rib and chicken piccata. All were two thumbs up. Ribs fall off bone with nice sauce, prime rib nice size beautifully med. rare with good flavor and tender. Chicken piccata was thin lightly breaded, not dried out and lemony. We were all pleased and will be back! Only complaint, we were never offered dessert or coffee. read more

The restaurant is open under new ownership and has hired back the old cook from before a previous set of changes. Staff was very friendly. I ordered the prime rib medium rare. It was a very large cut, but it came out medium. There was no medium rare available and it was only 6:30 PM. My companion had the ribs and she was complimentary. The salad was just basic, but it was crisp and fresh so that's good. The sides were good. If I could I would rate it a 3.5, but rounded up instead of down because it was a pleasant experience. read more

I don't really like giving out low scores, but this restaurant was just not up to par, especially for the price. The dinner salad had lettuce that was slightly brown and wilted. The coconut shrimp dinner cost $18 and was mediocre. The ribs were good and tender. The service wasn't very good. The waitress kept confusing our drink and food orders. We asked for bread and butter and never got any. We weren't offered dessert. Just overall not an experience I would go back for. read more
