We look forward to eating here each time we visit Wenatchee. It looks and is old school but the wine and steaks are foodie-licious!

Stopped into the Windmill with my Daughter while on a business trip to Wenatchee. I always sort of cringe when eating out because my family, including myself, are infamous for wanting to make substitutions etc...it always seems to cause some issues with the server and kitchen. When we asked about substitutions here-the servers answer to every question was Yes-we can handle that and we've got it covered" Refreshing! The order came exactly as ordered-and was delicious. I ordered a 10oz New York served Oscar Style (not on the menu) and my Daughter had the Cesar Salad minus the Cesar dressing. We split a piece of what every indication would tell us was a homemade apple pie. From the taste-the whip cream tasted fresh as well. Don't know for sure but hey-it was great! Total bill was about $70. We splurged because we're here after a long road on a rough transaction. Very well worth it. Bravo! read more

I'm sad to say that the Windmill is a shadow of what it once was. It was a fabulous place to go back in the day when you had to wait in the parking lot for a table and were happy to do so. We hadn't been back for years and decided to give it a try ( we knew it had changed ownership a couple times). The steak was pretty good but everything else was pathetic. Terrible small salad, small cold potato with a paper soufflé cup of sour cream carefully measured just so. And of course a cold roll with plastic margarine packet on the side. The restaurant was so empty we literally had to whisper so as not to be overheard. Owner was lurking which was super uncomfortable. Suffice to say crossed off our list forever. This American restaurant in the center of town is all around excellent. So much so that I ate there twice in a row. Their menu is high quality mixed USA, with some fish and prawns as the seafood. But for me the most goodness on the menu was their pies .... fresh, homemade, crisp fillings without a lot of artificial thickeners and without too much sweetness, and THICK. This might be the best apple pie I have ever had. Their current pie baker is a second generation Windmiller .... her Mom baked pies there before she did. Recommended. read more

We we had a birthday dinner there last nite have not been there in a long time. First time sense the new owners took over . The sevice was expectional , pan fried oyster , white shrimp cocktail appetizers were extremely tasty. Main meal prime rib and lobster, chicken fettuccine, Mahi Mahi . all cooked perfect spot on . Straight up nostalgic comfort and fun! What an incredibly special place from the moment you walk in. The people are wonderfully kind and accommodating and clearly have a genuine interest in making your experience exceptional. The warm festive lights, feel good music and a charming intimate setting makes it oh so perfectly cozy. We had the most wonderful time celebrating my Dad's 77th birthday and the entire family is still talking about how amazing and magical the whole evening was. The food and drinks were outstanding and the service was incredible the entire evening (4 hours)! I am SO grateful to have learned about The Windmill Restaurant and can hardly wait to go back. Tonight my fiancé and I had the privilege of having dinner here. He searched a good steak in Wenatchee and up popped the windmill. I hafta say I was a bit nervous wen we walked in, the decor is 1970's all day right down to the Santa candelabras on the fireplace mantle. My inner princess was shooting this place down before we even sat down. But then we were greeted and shown to our seat. Lemme tell u, our waitress Becky t. Was the happiest, friendliest, most efficient server we have had in YEARS!!! The food was AMAZING, fast and hot! When we were finished she gave us silverware wrapped in their dinner napkin to take with us (because we are staying at a hotel in the area) and told us just to leave it on the bench outside of the restaurant on our way out of town! Thank u to Becky for showing us such great service! We look forward to seeing you guys next year when we come back for the Dave Matthews concert!!! read more

Downhome atmosphere, entrees start at $20, go to $50-60. Mostly steak with some seafood. Seats are definitely uncomfortable. Nice, family atmosphere, good service. Definitely overrated at four stars and not at all worth the money. read more

Some co-workers and I came to Wenatchee for a work conference and decided to come here for dinner. We came on a Wednesday and had a wonderful service experience and amazing steaks. Becky, our waitress, was very attentive, clear and helpful. As a Seattle foodie I was very impressed and will definitely recommend The Windmill to friends who come to visit. We moved to Chelan from NJ 4 years ago. Living an hour's drive from Manhattan has terribly spoiled us in terms of exposure to the most amazing food in the world. As a matter of fact, the only thing we do not like about living in Chelan county is the absence of really good restaurants. We are really happy we stumbled upon this place. My wife suggested it and my response was "what, the windmill, really?" She insisted that she had heard it was really good. We checked out yelp and read the reviews and thought, what the heck. Well, we were very pleasantly surprised. The food, although simple, was very well prepared. It is not cheap, but really good quality meat is expensive. We started off with the shrimp cocktail, and then had the 7oz tenderloin with a really nice bottle of Fielding Hills Cabernet Sauvignon, a local winery and just enjoyed the heck out of this dinner. The wine was $60, total check was $150 or so, so it was about $90 for dinner. Well worth it. The only thing I'd change, if I were the owner, add $2 to every menu item and offer a choice of sauces. The extra $4 for a sauce feels like needless nickel and diming. Other than that, GREAT experience. read more

In town for business and the reviews said this was a good venue. I ordered the salmon, a little dry but still good. The apple slice I got was more than I could eat. The best part of the meal was the service. I didn't get the lady's name, but she was the pretty one from Texas. She was on top of everything. Very nice meal. OUTSTANDING restaurant. Had a group of 18. BECKY was absolutely AMAZING. Her service and willingness to accommodate a special need we had with one of our guests was over the top. Our food was brought out quickly and was delicious. Oh and did I mention BECKY. She is absolutely by far the best hostess/server I have ever seen. Went to the Windmill for a special dinner and we were not disappointed. Exceptional service from Becky and a nice conversation with the owner, Kevin. One of the best Ribeye steaks we've ever had. Strongly suggest the Gorgonzola crust and garlic mushroom toppers. Nice and quiet with friendly and attentive staff. Potions more than generous, wine and liquor pours extremely generous. Strong sense of community and family from wait staff and owner. Very impressed. Good choice for a special occasion or just dropping in. Good value for our dollar and we will be back! read more

Pass this place by, way over priced and they can't cook a steak decent at all, but they have no problem over charging you for it. I like my steak medium well and both times over a 2 yr period, my steak was tough as hell. Let me say it like this, the seats have no cushions and are hard as hell, the seats are as uncomfortable as the food is bad. I don't mind too much eating at a place were the bill is this high as long as the food is damn well worth it. I swear this must be walmart steak because it sucked both times I was there over a 2 yr period. 40 bucks for the privilege of hacking up and choking down a steak that is a tough as a section of old shoe leather. Why is it I can cook a medium well steak on my BBQ every time - to perfection, but these joksters can't do it at all, not even close? NEVER AGAIN! read more

We stopped in for dinner on a recommendation from a friend. The steak was fork tender and delicious, we also had the Mahi Mahi, fish n chips and the steakhouse burger. Our server was sweet and very attentive. The only thing I think could be different is the chef's attire, maybe a chef's jacket would be nice. read more

The service was great but my steak was pretty disgusting. I asked for my steak to be cooked medium and it came to me charred on the out side and barely cooked on the inside. I ate half of the steak hoping it would get better--it didn't. I should have sent it back right away. My mistake. This is the second time in a row I went to the Windmill and got a disgusting steak. When I complained the first time, a snarky waitress argued with me saying the steak was cooked properly but gave me some soggy prime rib as as a comp. She had the audacity to say "Yeah, just don't go on Yelp..." I will never go there again. There are better, and less expensive, places to get a steak in the Wenatchee Valley. read more

I HATE to write negative reviews, I really do since I work with the public and some people are impossible to please. However I must! My wife and I come and stay in Wenatchee annually (for over 30 yrs) to visit Leavenworth and Cashmere (a hidden gem). We live in Hillsboro Oregon. Today we ran up to Winthrop and back. We are celebrating out 38th wedding anniversary and wanted a good steak dinner. The prime rib is "as available". I asked if it was available and our wonderful waitress said it was. My wife ordered her prime rib medium rare and I ordered a 12 oz rib eye ($36) "not raw, but very pink". One would think it obvious that we don't like our steak over cooked. My wife's prime rib had a black (burnt tasting) crust around it. My rib eye was covered with what tasted like charcoal. Frankly if I would have cooked it on my grill like that I would have thrown it away, it was gross. My wife didn't like it either. My wife thought that it may be seasoning. Seasoning or charcoal it is terrible tasting and simply ruined two steaks. $79 (we drank water) and we both have burnt taste in our mouths an hour later. We are not the type to raise a fuss, maybe we should have, but we won't go back in the years to come. read more

Eaten in hundreds of great steak houses all over the west. I can't remember the last time I ordered a New York steak (not usually my go to) but the all knowing server (Becky) nudged me in the right direction...best New York steak ever. This may sound harsh, but this place is just not very good, and I sincerely recommend that you avoid this restaurant. Essentially this is a "steak place" that charges high prices but delivers the quality of a basic diner. I had excellent company and we had a great time together, but it still couldn't hide the reality that the price of the appetizers/entrees is totally out of touch with the quality of food provided. I heard that this restaurant has the best prime rib in town so we went to check it out. The restaurant itself is a total throwback to the 70s, and retro kitsch in that way. The food, however, was good but not quite as great as I'd been led to believe. We ordered prime rib with the standard trimmings, baked potato and green salad. I thought it was a bit overpriced for what was a fairly average prime rib meal. There is absolutely nothing wrong with it, just nothing really stand out either. The wine selection was decent although not terribly extensive. I am not in a big rush to go back unless I suddenly have a terrible craving for prime rib. read more

Pretty fantastic overall. We went early on a Wednesday when it was very relaxed and not overly busy and the service was quick and efficient. New to town and was excited to go... so for mothers day my husband and kids decided it was a perfect occasion. Reviewed the menu online and was impressed. My husband had a 7:00 reservation and had brought a bottle of nice wine. He had asked prior to our arrival and was told cork fee was $15. Which is reasonable so we were thrilled so far. Arrived at 7:00 and waited 30 min before they could seat us. My husband wasn't thrilled as he had made effort to make it special for me. When we were finally seated they apologized several times but seemed to be fumbling to get us set up. Miscommunication between the two waitresses I think. Service was ok, nothing great and we never received bread that we noticed other tables had. No offer to help smooth over the 30 min hold up was attempted. My sons dinner had to be sent back due to a mushroom issue, so we he watched us eat while his was fixed. again they apologized... food was good but nothing spectacular at the $40 plus per plate price point. Our bill was $215 for 4 ribeye dinners, 2 soft drinks and corkage. When the bill came the corkage was actually $18. Not a big deal but considering the amount of issues we had they could have easily comp't the corkage fee and left us feeling better about our sub par experience. Our recommendations... skip it! High priced for the value, we are pretty bummed as we so wanted to love it! read more

I have been to steak houses all over the world and this was the best fillet I have ever had. It had the texture of slow roasted pot roast. You won't be disappointed. In not sure I have ever given 5 stars to any place. I will be back!,,,, prolly tomorrow! read more

So excited they are serving breakfast now! Great selection with a few different benedicts, omelets, pancakes and waffles. The original benedict has ham and avocado but they'll make it the way you like so I substituted bacon instead of ham. So good. Smokey bacon, homemade hollandaise and wonderful country potatoes. We're lucky to have a place like this in our area and now it's open for breakfast so check it out. Next time, I'm trying the eggs with chicken fried steak. The service is always great here and I'm always thrilled to see Becky. She is so friendly and will steer you in the right direction, depending on what you are craving. If you haven't been for dinner, it's a must. Great steaks and seafood. Cool, old building and they've kept it up in nice shape and have even made some cosmetic improvements. I came here with friends for breakfast. The atmosphere and music was great. Waitstaff were attentive, friendly, and helpful. Waters were always replenished! I ordered the French toast, full order. It was delicious! Simple, but just enough for a moderate appetite. I also had a side of bacon--it was perfection! Everything was well-portioned and reasonably priced. The special of the day was steak and lobster for $49.99, guess what...it's no special , it was the same price as in the menu...no special here. The complamentry house appitizer was a oblong tray with sliced carrots and wilty celery with no dipping sauce....maybe this was to be added to our salad's..lol Lets start with the salad...just wilty lettuce and crutons...no tomato, no cucumber, no onion, no carrots. I had the clams and linguine. It was served in a proper pasta bowl/plate.... I got basically a soup with some spaghetti noodles, yes spaghetti noodles NOT linguine, the clams were just dumped over the pasta....leaving bits of shells through out, the quanity was half of the actual bowl size that was served to me...biting into a small razor sharp shell runed it for me....I was done...very little care was in the preparation...could have been good. Now lets talk about the bread served.... no flavor.....basically potato bread that was grilled in some oil but it was NOT clarified butter which it should have been...also NO seasonings..very blaw. My wife's meal...she had the chicken parmesan.... I witnessed it came from a frozen tan bag...it had NO flavor what so ever, could have been good if ithe chicken parmesan was prepared fresh... at these prices it should have been. She also received three asparagus spears on her plate which was the best part of her meal, they were properly grilled and seasoned. My son's meal was the best.... chicken with a apple brandy sauce....excellent meal. The only thing I would recommend. For the money that you spend for the meals here, quality and quanity should stand out but it doesn't. Considering the age of the place, this place is very clean and I witnessed proper handwashing technics between the front of the house and the kitchen. The service/server however was good, gave us new soda's when the orignals served were flat, and checked on us regularly as expected. We went here for our Anniversary dinner. It was horrible, the only good thing was the service. The place was filthy, the carpets looked like they never been swept. I used the ladies restroom and I was too scared to sit on the toilet. The meal wasn't the best either. We ordered steak and it was like eating a leather shoe. The veggies were soggy. I hear that this place was great back in the day... Maybe that's why we were the youngest there and we are in our 40's. Those old people can't taste how bad the food really is. First time diners this visit. The food was great but the service was exceptional! Reminded me of classic steak house. My wife loves fried oysters but their menu only has them as an appetizer. Waitress quickly mentioned they could be done as an entree instead. They were cooked perfectly. My prime rib was excellent and we loved all the baked potato extras like real bacon bits, chives, etc. Will definitely return. read more

The best cooked steak I've had in a really long time! Perfectly meadium rare and delicious without toppings. In addition to an eccellent meal, or server was fantastic. It's a small place and she takes care of all the tables efficiently. We did not have to wait for anything. We are from Seattle and travel to Wenatchee to dine at this special restaurant. The new owners have made this place totally wonderful. Our waitress Becky, is beyond great. I love the unique atmosphere and food is delicious. Steaks are very tender and the chef cooks all to perfection. The tempura shrimp are delicious too. Wine pours are very generous. It's a great dining experience. We can hardly wait to go back. read more

THE steakhouse in Wenatchee. I would make a reservation if at all possible, but we got in without one at 6:30 on a Saturday night. The service was excellent and the dessert was to die for (we both had the cheesecake). My husband's steak was very undercooked but they offered to re-make it and he declined, ate it anyway, and said it was delicious. The rice pilaf was nicely seasoned and the seafood chowder was clearly homemade. The place is definitely pricey and the wooden benches are uncomfortable, these are the only drawbacks I experienced. read more
