MY OH MYYYYYYY!! I found this place right when I was driving into the Village to go get coffee and I am literally speechless. I had the best conversation with the man inside at the deli who took my order yesterday. The cashier was very dry and bland when I tried to be friendly and chipper when I walked in and while checking out but he didn't seem to care. I ordered an Italian Sub with some minor adjustments. I removed the Mortadella, provolone, and red wine dressing, I added genoa salami and garlic aioli instead with the ciabatta bread. I am still in awe of the taste and flavor and freshness. I finished half before work and the other half after because the sandwich was HUGE. It was worth every penny and it was a lot more affordable that I expected. The deli was in a grocery story type location so I was able to walk around and look at snacks and find something to drink as well. The ambiance was quiet, it was during work hours I stopped by so pretty much the entire plaza/Village was a bit empty. I will most definitely be coming by every-time I'm in the area. Great staff and I can always find snacks, water, alcohol and other staples when I run out and don't feel like going to Albertsons.

Love the variety of fun stuff you can get here. Lots to look at and browse through. Ordered the buffalo chicken sandwich and it just wasn't anything special. Too much bread to meat ratio. Maybe that's my fault, they do offer different bread options so I won't completely fault them on that. I could have ordered wrong honestly. I'd be willing to try something else in the future. Food was fresh, especially the bread. Service was okay, my sandwich came up and instead of the guy just grabbing it and handing it to me, he just pointed at it and said it was ready. Little awkward and not very customer service oriented. I wasn't to upset, just thought it was weird. Great drink selection here, even had some things I haven't see before. Oddly enough you can even get some CBD seltzers here if that's what you are into. At the end of the day I'd try it again just to compare. read more

Was working in the neighborhood. Only get 30 min for lunch and Village Trader was 2 min away. Place is super laidback not slightly pretentious and 100% caters to the locals. Service was friendly and attentive. I got the Italian Sandwich for which I paid only $11.99 in April 2026. It was well prepared using quality meats, cheese and fresh vegetables. The baguette had a great crust although the bread itself was a bit dense. Even the very tasty wine sauce wasn't doing enough to soften the body. Maybe a good spread of aioli or mayo? 1/2 of the sando was satisfying enough for lunch and the 2nd half was even better at dinner because the baguette absorbed moisture from the lettuce and tomatoes. Tried the deli for the first time. The bread is a ciabatta which was a little dense so I didn't like that but that's more of a preference thing. Good amount of deli meat in the sandwich. The only negative is that I got an end piece of tomato I had the #19 which is a classic chicken. As you can see from the photo, the bread is a bit on the thick side. It had deli chicken, prosciutto, avocado and sweet peppers. I'd like to go back and try a different sandwich and maybe a different bread if they have that. We stopped in for lunch on the way home from Santa Barbara for sandwiches. The cashier made us delicious sandwiches and when we didn't eat all of it, offered to wrap the rest of it in foil and pack it in ice for us since we had a long drive ahead of us. This place is great! My family moved to the area about 6 years ago and we have all frequented the deli since. We love that it's family owned and ran. Ernie is such a pleasure to chat with and so kind. Their deli meats and cheeses are always so good and their prices are so fair. I have had a few locals tell me about this Market located in the Dos Vientos neighborhood of Newbury Park. From the outside the place is very unassuming, you think its smaller then it is. the interior is actually a very spacious market with a ton of unique items from Deli meats to beers and wines from all over the place. There were 2 booths and a couple of tables in the market to eat at. You go up to the counter or to the cashier and put your order in, we opted for tacos and a corned beef sandwich. Food we ordered: Street Tacos: I decided to try all 4 options available Comes in a double soft corn tortilla with cilantro, white onion, and Hot or Mild salsa. I opted for Hot salsa and it had a really nice heat not overly spicy. All the tacos were put on a flat top and heated up on demand - $1.99 each Chicken taco - flavorful white meat chicken breast a very good taco Carne Asada - Delicious flavorful meat with a hint of lime crisped up on the grill Al Pastor - My favorite of the four tacos this is a must have juicy and delicious Pork Chorizo - very good if a bit mild on the flavor Boars Head Corned Beef sandwich with Provolone on a sourdough roll - $7.99 perfectly thinly sliced corned beef and a soft delicious roll a very good sandwich. Great local market tucked away in Newbury Park. I was in the area late in the afternoon after hiking in Dos Vientos and looking for a place to pickup a sandwich. To my knowledge there aren't any grocery stores or food places for a few miles in each direction, so I had somewhat low expectations for this market. It turns out that this place is better than most neighborhood markets, well stocked with unique items & fast service. The sandwich I ordered was made on the spot with really good ingredients, I was also impressed by the guy who I assume is the owner running the store himself. Everything is super clean and the tall ceilings make the market feel much larger than it is. Worth a visit if you're in the area. read more

Had to update my 4 star review from a few years ago as this store has gotten ever better. Small store with lots of "must have" items. Large refrigerated section with impressive selection of beer, pizzas, ice cream, etc. There is even a deli with delicious freshly prepared food such as sub sandwiches and tacos. This place has been underwhelming every time I've came (at least 5 times). Bland breakfast burritos with no potatoes available and sandwiches with a ton of bread and minimal filling/meat. It's great to have an option in what's otherwise a basically dead shopping center next to Godspeak but it's not really worth your time. It is cheap, though. read more

Since we moved here from Orange County, we've been looking for our taco spot and this is a strong contender! $1.49 "street" tacos (I dislike the term but people understand it), including al pastor and chorizo! They were lovely and the salsa was on point. They have plenty of outdoor seating (more in the back, in case the front area is overrun with 12-year-old skateboarders as it was for us) for families like us with a dog, so we'll be back again for sure. read more

Nice little market in the area, not your Trader Joe's or Albertson's. If you are looking for full selection of groceries, then this place is probably not for you. What I like about this place: deli, beers, and service. Deli: OMG please try their tacos! They are made to order and soooo delicious! My husband is a taco freak and even he thinks they are good tasting tacos! Beers: There is a beer cave at the end of the market. Good beer selections. They carry some rare beers as well. In addition to beers, they also have pretty decent wine and liquor selections. Service: Staff are always nice and willing to help! Minus one star since the price is not always friendly :) I understand this is a family owned business so the prices are hard to beat the chains. I'd still visit when I am in the area.
