Every time I come here wine tasting I leave with a bottle. Apparently Linda the Owner and Sommelier has a taste for big wines with fragrant bouquet to the nose and palate and memorable luscious finish ...which is what I look for in my reds!! This is a great place to enjoy small craft wineries, limited release, but truly worthy for the discerning palate. I love this place, inside and out. I very highly recommend this place for the serious wine taster novice or pro and if your a foodie, they serve meat a& cheese plates, panini sandwiches, confectionary delights and other items to pair with your wine selection. read more

Love this place! The wines are always excellent and the servers are knowledgeable and helpful. My favorite is the create your own charcuterie, where you get to choose your own cheeses and meats. I've never seen that anywhere before and it makes for such a fun and unique experience. Everything here is delicious. read more

We dropped by here for the Camarillo food/wine crawl and had THE worst experience. Excuse my french, but the people working when we came in were snotty bitches. That's putting it nicely. We got here towards the end of the crawl and when my friends handed the lady their glass, she refused to fill them unless they bought a bottle. I won't even begin to describe how angry we all were. They legitimately didn't want to serve us even though it was their obligation to. Instead of causing a scene, we took the high road and walked over to French Bulldog instead where the staff provided excellent service and kept re-filling our glasses when they were empty. We never had to ask for a refill, they just kept pouring. Needless to say, I will never set foot in this establishment ever again. Nor will any of my friends and everyone I know because I will share our experience with all of them. read more

Wonderful Experience! Linda and her staff provided an incredible wine tasting experience. I brought a bus tour from San Diego and dropped 50 people on them. Not only were they prepared but the whole day turned into a full out wine party. You can't ask for better hosts. They were the highlights of our tour and I hope to bring another tour in for a visit in the near future. The atmosphere was fresh and Some words vibratious. The set up is perfect for small or large groups. Words that come to mind... Polite, knowledgeable, Fun, efficient, and did I mention FUN? Thank you ladies. I was told that the Wine closet also sells cheese so my husband and I went in earlier today to purchase some. Upon entering the shop we saw someone socializing inside with no mask on. Keep in mind this is a very small confined area. We immediately left the store having made no purchase. When I got to my car I called the wine shop to convey my displeasure at their lax mask policy and tell them it cost them my business. The girl who answered the phone lied and said that she didn't see anyone not wearing a mask. I said that's clearly untrue because he was right in the room that you were and you could NOT have missed seeing him. She then said it was the owner's significant other. That's even worse! You certainly can't control all the nasty customers who come in and don't want to wear a mask but the owners significant other??? And it doesn't really matter who you are does it. You need to wear a mask indoors when dealing with the public. Needless to say I will not be patronizing this shop again. read more

My husband and I have been here five times and every visit has been wonderful. Wine: Wide variety of the types of wine including bubbles, whites, rosé, reds and dessert wines. You can try it by the glass or they usually have a tasting flight. The wines were different every time we went (which kept us coming back). I love when I can find varietals of wine I haven't tried yet. They are also a wine store, so if you like what you taste you can pick up a bottle to take home or gift (we did both). Service: The staff are all friendly and knowledgeable. They remembered us each time we returned and were attentive every visit. Food: From cheese plates to paninis and build your own pizzas. It's everything you could want to pair with your wine. We like the olives and almonds to munch on with our tasting flight. The grilled cheese is amazing-- you get to pick your cheese and we paid a little extra for the pepper jelly (we highly recommend it). The line was long at the brewery next door, and we saw the patio was empty. We looked at the bottles when we entered, but no one asked if we needed help. We approached the " kitchen" where we saw three people. We asked if we could sit on the patio. The owner brought ONE paper wine menu for all of us to share. (NOT LAMINATED) we had to pass it around. We also had to request a food menu, which she brought ONE to pass around to all of us.(NOT LAMINATED). There were no recommendations from the owner or discussion of wines. I don't go to wine bars often, so I expected someone to help me pick a good wine. I can't tell you if they have good wine, mine was okay. The food arrived with little fanfare, but the sandwiches were good! We probably would have purchased dessert, but a new person came to the table and dropped the $150.00 check with zero communication. Very disappointing; we had to take our payment inside to be processed, and still no communication. Even when our group walked out, looking at the wine bottles, none of the three ladies thanked us or even asked if we were interested in a bottle. Two of us in the group are business owners, and just couldn't believe we had such little interaction or communication with any staff. The irony is we watched the brewery patio humming along, still busy when we left after dark. read more

I came here with my friends who live in Camarillo. Sandy and Thomas took a really good care of us! Wine selection here is very particular but they have good ones. They also have extensive beer menu and its tasting options. We had a cheese plate. The plate came with excellent olives, almonds, dried cranberries etc... Hot Dog plate, special menu, came with delicious sauce and sautéed onion. The salad had amazing dressing. We enjoyed every dish/drink we ordered here. Great place! A bunch of us girls met there last Friday night for wine and gossip. Always a fun combo! They had about 8 bottles of wine open for tasting. For $10 I could choose to try 5 wines. They had nice large glasses too and generous pours. I did see a couple of guys with beer but didn't see it on the tasting menu. They do have a large selection of wines for purchase that I've never seen anywhere else. Very artistic labels. One had a photo of knuckles with the wine name written across them. They also have wine accessories and candles in their boutique area. They have a couch area and 4 tall tables - all were very full that evening. I'd recommend getting there early. They also have wineries come in on Thursday evenings to pour their own wines for guests. I'm hoping to make it back on a Thursday to check this out. I'm sure they'll have a bit of gossip there for me too if my girls can't make it ;) read more

We stopped here on our way up to Santa Barbara for wine tasting and picked up a few different kinds of cheese and a small container of green olives - the last few items we needed for our picnic. This small shop has a great selection and you can tell the owners really care about their products. They were very knowledgeable about all of the cheeses and offered suggestions and samples. If we lived in Camarillo - we'd be here all the time! There is free parking on the street near the shop and easy on/off access to the 101 freeway. read more

The ambiance is great, I enjoyed that many tables were comfortable expressing themselves and their noise levels was not a problem to the staff. The food was fresh, the wine selection is great. There was a mix up with our charcuterie board, but that wasn't a big deal to us and they brought out the 1 cheese we had really wanted to try out of what we missed out on. It was overall a great experience as it was my first time here. Big note -- It was disappointing, though, that while we were waiting for water refills at the end of our outing an employee came over to rush us out of the restaurant in the name of "we close at 9pm and we want to leave too" in an exasperated tone which honestly was very out of left field to us, as she wasn't working with our table order or communication much. Time check? It was 9:04pm when she finished her dismissal at us. It was peculiar that there were at least 4 other parties in there with more people per table, loud and comfortable, but our lowkey, respectful table was shooed out so abruptly and the first. Maybe we were an easy target / starting point for her. Regardless, with 10 years of working every position in f&b I personally know that employee could have handled the expression differently so we wouldn't feel so alienated and turned off. We did not wait for our water refill and decided to leave without boxing the leftover charcuterie because we preferred not to have to experience her energy again. Overall again, good experience until that disgruntled employee. We highly recommend the Wine Closet. Linda carries a great selection of boutique wines. Given the variety, you get to try different varieties all in one place. Pleasant tasting room atmosphere as long as it isnt too busy. Fairly small place and hard to hear if packed. We have tried some wonderful varieties and then gone to the specific winery when up in Paso or elsewhere. Pretty much have liked all the recommendations Linda has given. They also carry Herman Story wines! read more
