Highly recommend The Wine Kitchen! Great high quality food, nice presentation, enjoyable wine tasting options, nice ambiance. Only complaint is that my gluten free pasta was slightly too al dente (however I know from experience it's hard to perfect), but great flavor with the crab and corn! A little kick with the Thai chili's. The flourless chocolate cake topped it off, with delicious homemade peaches and cream ice cream, yum! After several hours of shopping at the Leesburg outlets, I was ready for a glass of wine and dinner! This place was a Yelp find and I'm glad we picked it! The decor is really cute and done perfectly, simple and makes a statement. The service was super! I really wish I hadn't forgotten to get our waitresses name, but she's so good at her job and you can tell she loves it. That made us enjoy our dinner even more! As soon as we were seated, she told us about a special salad they had available that day which had fresh Virginia figs in it. Can't say no to that so we ordered it and shared it. It was delicious! For our main course we picked the crab cake appetizer and shared it. Our waitress told us their crab cake wasn't like the typical ones, but promised we would enjoy theirs more. She was right. :) It was overall very good, but the bacon jam it sits on really goes with it well! On to the drinks! Now this place is truly a wine bar! They have a great selection of wines, and even better than that - a wide selection of wine flights. It was hard to decide what to get, but I landed on the bubble-icious flight. It was amazing! It included 3 wines and I thoroughly enjoyed each! I used to loved this place... But I made the mistake of trying their happy hour menu... What a way to lose stars... We decided to go with small plates. -Mexican Street Corn salad. It was ok... But seriously? To put that on a menu? -Summer squash fritters. Those were decent. Terrible portions -Cheese biscuits... salty! It's a large serving... The only thing we really liked... that was "on point," is their Mac and Cheese! Service was attentive, the happy hour prices are reasonable. Great selections for wine and beer. The pours are pretty heavy and they provide information on each of the wines to direct you were to lean in your wine journey. I came with some friends for brunch and was not disappointed. The plates are smaller, which was perfect for a wine pairing - not too heavy. The goat cheese balls and butternut squash grilled cheese were definite stand outs, wile the prosciutto benedict was also on point. Super disappointing experience at wine kitchen which has been a favorite of ours for over 6 years. Went to pick up a take out order and was informed I was there too early and when I asked if I could wait they said no. Came back and was ignored and three wk workers walked by. Finally asked for help and she told me she was busy. Once we got the order the tater tots which used to be a favorite and they were way smaller and super greasy. Everyone in the service industry is a hipster in New York. This is Virginia, get rid of your pubic hair beard and suspenders. I'm here for the fresh food and drinks. Not my first choice for easy conversation between 3 friends. And then we met our bartender/server, Alexandra. One word to describe her: AMAZ-BOMB! She was perfect; knowledge, informative, efficient, friendly yet not intrusive. So how was the food? Top notch, just like always. The cheese board was so delicious and well thought out. This place is excellent. We went on a Tuesday night for the $13 wine flights. We had the rigatoni bolognese and the lobster ravioli. They were both to die for. The lobster ravioli was permeating with lobster. We ordered the goat cheese fritters and meatballs. Both were extraordinarily delicious, but small as they were tapas. We came here for a quick date night on Friday night and really enjoyed ourselves. The service was great, the happy hour bites were so cheap and everything tasted fantastic! I think my favorite appetizer was either the cheese fondue or the cheese and charcuterie board. It's hard to choose when both were so good. and a half stars (I want that 1/2 star this year, YELP). I love this little eatery in historical downtown Leesburg, VA. It is cozy and quaint and offers a huge wine selection. And when it comes to their food, it is a struggle to decide what season I love best . Fall brings Coq Au Vin which is wonderfully rich and robust served with luscious, comfy potatoes. Pumpkin panna cotta is another reason to adore fall at the Wine kitchen. Spring brings unique vegetable dishes that you won't see anywhere else and Summer has crab and other wonderful seafood specials. Winter dishes are hearty and often feature earthy root vegetables that I adore. But if I am forced to be honest there are special dishes year round (especially desserts) to keep you coming back. The menu always has dishes that feature beets and/or goat cheese, two of my favorite ingredients. Chicken or quail and waffles, any type of pork dish and anything seafood is a sure bet, as well as anything that has "pot pie" or "gnocchi" in it. I am pretty sure that is secret code for MADE IN HEAVEN. I haven't tried anything there that isn't delicious: beef, scallops, pork belly, pasta - it is all good. Squash blossoms on the menu is truly hitting the culinary lottery. Serving sizes are small and I feel like tappas is the best description IMHO. An entre is not enough to feed an adult. I usually order an app and/or a salad and main dish plus dessert. Dessert is painful ecstasy, a necessary evil, if you will. I must confess that I will often order two desserts and take one home. If you see the words "torta" or "mexican" next to chocolate...ORDER IT! "Panna cotta" or "bread pudding"...ORDER IT! "Truffle" ...ORDER IT! Botton line, this is some of the best food in NoVA. The fifth star is denied due to $$ and available seating. This is a small restaurant and seating is very limited and since I find dessert to be mandatory we always spend a pretty penny, but I have never regretted a single meal and am always thrilled when the budget allows for the next visit. read more

They offer flights or glasses and the cost of the wine is very reasonable. The food here is also great, a little small, but still good. It's rare that I venture out in my home town and dine. Being that Leesburg is just too out of the way for the majority of people I know. However, I'm glad I was able to get dinner this past Sunday here. The Wine Kitchen is located right in old town Leesburg, next to the Leesburg Restaurant. If you weren't looking for it, you would probably miss it. I love the decor and atmosphere of the restaurant. Very casual, yet cozy and elegant at the same time. There isn't much seating and from what I understand from the reviews it can get busy on weekend nights. However, there was plenty of seating available when I went this past Sunday. They do not take reservations either as I found out. Now Yelp lists the Wine Kitchen as a tapas style restaurant, however I would like to correct that and say that it isn't! There are a few options on the menu that can be shared, but only a few. The entrees are sized as realistic and more like a lunch portion sized entree. I order the local flavor flight of wines which feature two wineries from Leesburg and one from Waterford. I absolutely loved the white wine from Waterford which came from Loudoun Valley Vineyards. It was a cross between a Seyval Blanc and a Traminette. You can easily taste the hint of peach from the white. The reds by themselves were a bit boring, but paired with my local pork loin they were absolutely delightful. The reds were listed as a cab and a merlot. I opt for the roasted local pork loin, which came with a squash and zucchini ratatouille, a bacon and herb spaetzel, and the pork topped with a peach pan sauce. Absolutely delicious! The local red wines paired perfectly with the pork loin! Cooked perfectly and I wanted to savor every minute of it. I also ordered a side of the mac and cheese, which was highly recommended on Yelp. Easily one of the best I've had in a long time. They don't use your typical off the shelf cheddar here. My friend ordered the local rib eye and complained that the steak could've used a bit more salt and pepper but otherwise was happy. I definitely want to come back and try their fried chicken as I was told that it is fried in duck fat. Yes, duck fat. Great restaurant in old town Leesburg and easily my favorite.
