Not sure if the oil made it soggy or the condensation from being in a container with no vents to let out the moisture. Tried revamping it in the air fryer but it was very oily/greasy that it couldn't crisp. Most likely won't order this item again. The Kung Pao Tofu combo plate wasn't bad, included fresh vegetables & fried rice and small soup- good value. read more

I decided to try The Wok for lunch. Upon walking in you are greeted by very nice workers. I thought their customer service was very good. I ordered the lunch special General Chicken with fried rice and vegetable chow mein as my sides. The fried rice was bad. It wasn't soft and seemed like it was day old rice. I literally threw it out after 2 bites. The chow mien was the only thing that was good. Not great but good. I also ordered 2 egg rolls. The egg roll had a weird wrap on it. Not traditional for egg rolls. For $6 bucks for 2 rolls was tragic. They were not good. The General Chicken also wasn't very good. Fried rice - 0* Chow mien - 2* General chicken - 2* Egg rolls - 1* All in all it wasn't a good lunch. Have to give them time though as it is their soft opening. I walked in before noon and was greeted immediately. So many things I wanted to try after seeing the menu but chose the Salt and Pepper chicken lunch combo with fried rice and chow mein. I also received a side of hot and sour soup. First off it's cooked to order and the Salt and Pepper chicken was hot, so crispy and AMAZING! Just the right amount of spice. I love the chow mein and the seasoning they wok it with . Fried rice is very tasty too! I've never had hot and sour soup before BUT I'm loving it. It doesn't have a lot of seating but that's alright! Take it to go, it will still be AMAZING! They have catering and I'll definitely be suggesting this to my office next office lunch and for any large gatherings I have. After the state fair, the kids wanted Chinese food & we searched for something nearby. This place was only 5 minutes from where we were so we decided to give it a try. We didn't know they just opened and they're currently in their soft opening stage (& offering 10% off! Idk till when but go ASAP!). They have a pretty big menu which was nice for my picky eaters! There were only 3 tables, so I guess it was mostly takeout. We did mention that we lived pretty far and it was getting late but they accommodated us, pushed two tables together for my family and had everything on plates versus the takeout containers (so nice!!). We ordered the salt pepper wings, honey walnut shrimp, salt pepper spareribs, black pepper beef, vegetable chow mein, Beijing beef, mapo tofu and broccoli chicken. The food came out fast and it was piping hot! My favorite items were the honey walnut shrimp, salt pepper spare ribs, salt pepper wings, chow mein & black pepper beef! The kids loved the chow mein so much, they noodles had so much flavor and a nice texture. The cashier was nice but still they are still learning the menu (I had a lot of questions cos we have kids with allergies and etc). There are also vegetarian options! I can see this place being a great addition to the Arden area. They had lunch options too, which is great for people that work in the area, you can get a whole lunch for less than $15! Great takeout! We stop on our way home from work once a week or so and just love it. The flavors are wonderful, the selection can't be beat and the portions are generous. What more can you ask. They have lunch priced take out and other options so you can find what you want every time. While we have our favorites we do move around the menu to try other offerings and are always rewarded with great food. We have a been searching for a yummy local Chinese food restaurant and are so happy to have found The Wok! We ordered ahead of time for Christmas Eve dinner and they were SO busy yet still had our food piping hot and ready right on time! All of the food was yummy but our standouts were Mongolian Beef, Honey Walnut Shrimp (sooo good!) and Orange Chicken! Chow mein was great as were the pot stickers! The food was all very fresh! Have eaten there two days in a row and can confirm the deliciousness of their food! The good: service is really friendly, lunch specials are plentiful, and parking is easy. The great: super fresh and tasty food. Honestly the best chow mein I've had since moving to Sacramento. The pepper bees was tender, the vegetables steamed to perfection, and the house made iced tea came with refills. Orders come out quickly, the space is immaculate, and I will definitely be back! I couldn't be happier that I found this gem of a restaurant! Since the very popular Asian restaurant in the Arden-Arcade area closed, I was craving good, clean, real Asian food for a very long time. Someone recommended this spot and I went there last night for the first time. Yay! It was a superb experience! Very first impression, amazingly clean and delightful environment. White tile with the wooden tables and red accents was very welcoming. I ordered the wonton soup to start. Delicious chicken filled, unique shaped wontons, in a very flavorful chicken broth was excellent! I ordered both the Kung Pao shrimp ala carte and the Honey Walnut Shrimp combo. The combo comes with an appetizer, first course and side. Both entrées were was brimming with fresh vegetables and generous portions of shrimp. Everything was exceptionally delicious! Reasonably priced, carefully packed to go, so easy to transport home. The staff was very friendly and engaging. And I knew that once I saw "mom" come out of the kitchen, it's exactly what I was looking for. And although they do have several tables in the dining room, I saw most people getting their order to go. This the BEST Chinese food in Sac hands down. The service was quick and the workers were very helpful. There's not a ton of seating, but if you go when they aren't busy you can eat there. My husband was on his way home, and we were debating where to grab dinner. He had tried The Wok before on a recommendation and loved it, so I decided to give it a shot too. We ordered shrimp fried rice, salt and pepper wings, and honey walnut shrimp. Everything was amazing! I didn't try the wings, but they smelled incredible--definitely a little spicy. My husband is a big wing connoisseur, so if he gives them a thumbs-up, I know they must be good. We did takeout, so I can't speak to the inside, but the food was fresh, flavorful, and well worth it. After reading the reviews, my friend and I thought we'd try this place out. Small restaurant with very limited seating. Food appears to be made to order, waited about 10 minutes for our food. I ordered the mushroom chicken with pork fried rice and chow mein. Also came with a side of soup. Initially I thought okay not too bad and good portions. As I ate more, it was okay at best, over sauced. Way too much soy sauce. I ate what I could and took the rest to go. Within the hour I was sick to my stomach and in the restroom several times. Ended up throwing it all away. My friend got the salt and pepper spare ribs. It was tasty but the chow mein and rice were way too much soy sauce. My husband and I went to The Wok on a Friday at 6ish PM. It was super busy in there!! Always good to see a new local spot getting good business. The line moved quickly, we placed our order and was told about 30 minute wait. No problem, like I said they were getting slammed. We ran some nearby errands and came back and ate some of the food there, and took the rest home. What we ordered: combo plate w/ general tso chicken, wonton soup, potsticker, veggie chow mein Combo plate w/ king pao tofu, hot and sour soup, egg roll, veggie chow mein Salt and pepper green beans Portions: these portions are humongous! Seriously. We spent $52 bucks and it seemed expensive until the food arrived. This will feed us for days. Taste: everything was amazing. The S&P green beans were so good and addictive. The wonton soup savory and delicious. Egg roll was huge and stuffed with cabbage (my fave). My tofu was so good. Huge pieces of silken tofu dip fried and crispy. Veggies cooked perfectly. My husbands chicken was really good too. No complaints. We will definitely be back but we will order bowls next time instead of combo plates just because it was a massive amount of food. I usually really like this place, it's the go to for Chinese whenever the wife and I crave it. The food is always really tasty and fresh. This last time though, I had a bad experience with the service. I called in an order and went to pick up 15-20 minutes later only to find out they had forgotten to put my order in all together and one of the girls up front lied to me and told me I called the wrong number when I repeated their number to them to confirm that I did call and order. I was definitely a bit annoyed but I waited and ended up getting my food almost 45 minutes after I initially placed it. On top of all that the portion of kung pao chicken was laughable for the price, there was legitimately 8 pieces of chicken for almost $20 a plate that's not acceptable. read more
