I was so looking forward to eating at this place, but unfortunately it was very disappointing! It says on there advised Facebook post that they have daily fresh steak and seafood. They had no steak and no seafood at all!!! False advertisement! You ate off paper plates. The only meat option was fried chicken. There were only three sides, consisting of corn, green beans, and mashed potatoes, none of which were homemade. Additionally, they found it amusing that the dessert option was limited to a single piece of stale cake left over from the previous day. I do not recommend this place! read more

We had very high hopes for this restaurant. Facebook made them look good. The prices on the website do not match the menu. Very disappointing. We went for our anniversary and will never go back. My husband ordered the queen cut of prime rib-med rare. There was more fat than meat and med at best and swimming in au jus. I had rib eye with the add on lobster tail. The steak tasted like it came from dollar tree. The lobster was so stuck in the tail, I think I got two and a half bites. It was a $60 meal worth about $25. We did have good service, just lousy food. read more

We looked at the buffet, had 4 things were empty (on the much smaller buffet as we were expecting ) foam plates and plastic ware, we just decided to leave. First time Here and came because I saw it on FB. The pics in their FB page make it look much larger than it really Is. I got there om Saturday at 1 pm. It's open till 4. The price is $15.11 after tax for one person. It includes soup rolls salad bar fried chicken and sides like green beans and mashed potatoes along with potato wedges and rice. also store bought pie that is on another table that you wouldn't think is included because the employees sit at this table and drink their drinks etc.and the table is not near the buffet. They use stray foam plates and plastic ware. And at the plate station there is a roll of paper towels for you to take a couple. No other napkins are supplied. The soup also has story foam cups to use. The rolls sit on a cookie sheet with packs of butter next to them. They aren't warm just out of the bag and torn into squares. The rice was so old it was crusty and shriveled up. The gravy for the mashed potatoes was empty and it was drying out and getting crusty. The mashed potatoes had been sitting and left a colored film ontop but they were hot if you stirred them. The green beans were hot and very Al dente yet rubbery at the same time. I didn't find them applealing. There was bbq wings and a few crusty Buffalo wings which were semi baked. The skin was rubbery and the chicken dry. The sauce was ladled over the wings not baked or fired into them. There wasn't any fried chicken and the potato wedges were very hard and old. Let's not even get into the soup which was so old the country potato was smelling and looking burnt. The chicken noodle was all water and a few noodles. I at least tried it and the one piece of chicken that was in there was a bone. The salad bar was even worse. Lettuce was old, brown and slimy pieces mixed in. The cuts on the onions were inconsistent and the other toppings were ore packed things like olives. Cheese and ham. There wasn't tomatoes or cucumbers or other fresh ingredient. It was the worst salad bar I've ever eaten at. Ok so after an hour they finally turned out some fresh fried chicken and it was actually good. Barely fried though. But crispy enough skin. They even out out fresh wings and they were still rubbery and lifeless. Every single item needed flavor. Nothing like adding a TON of salt and pepper to your plates. I also encountered a very rude owner when he came to the table and asked how it was. I said it's all old. And he accused me of wasting food and that he had the right to charge me for the excess waste. I told him it was the green beans and bones and Napkins. He finally left and then came back and asked why I was in grabil and wondering why I chose his place to eat, this was as he was eating a plate of wings, I explained it all then asked him if it was ok that I visited Grabil!! He finally left my table after harassing me for a bit longer. I didn't feel welcomed. I passed on dessert because store bought pies aren't my thing. Mr hey boast it's Amish cooking but if that's how the Amish cook then Please never invite me to an Amish home for dinner. I wouldn't recommend eating here. This place might be the only place near this area worth getting some dinner. I'm not sure, as I'm not from around here. It is a smaller restaurant, 8 booths and 4 tables. It is sparkly clean throughout. Our server Ava, was so very kind and sweet. It wasn't busy and she appeared to have the entire place to herself for front of house. She took our drink order rapidly and brought out a warm loaf of bread quickly. We started off with the spinach and artichoke dip. It seemed kind of small for the price, bit it was on par for anywhere that serves that dip, but it comes with their bread sliced for dipping. The bread could use a little toasting for the dip scooping. I ordered the 8oz steak medium with onion rings and a house salad. The house salad was a good size with lettuce, cheese and boiled eggs. I ordered the house made french dressing which was quite tasty. The onion rings appeared hand battered and were very good. My steak was cooked to a prefect medium and the seasoning and onions on top were scrumptious. My wife ordered the shrimp pasta, which has two skewers of Cajun seasoned shrimp over a fettuccine pasta with a white cream sauce. It was a lot of pasta, but my wife was not a fan of the sauce. She did enjoy the shrimp. She also ordered a cluster of crab legs to go with her pasta. You wouldn't think po-dunk Indiana would make good crab legs, but the came out cooked quite well and my wife thought they were good. The only thing missing was the tiny crab leg fork. Our daughter ordered the 1/2 pound cheeseburger with fries. She ordered it well done, I know, what a shame to ruin that burger, but kids!!! It came out cooked as ordered and she managed to finish about a quarter of her meal. And for dessert, we had the make your own s'mores. It came with enough of the ingredients to make 5 s'mores. I would definitely come back to try more of there dinners. read more

Ate here for first time, staff Martin and Rosetta were above and beyond friendly Roseta was very attentive and on the ball. Martin came out of kitchen and went to each table and talked made sure everything was good. The food was excellent and there was a wide variety of food. They had steaks, crab legs, gd size lobster tails, sandwiches, hamburgers. A gd amount of of appetizers and the amount of food for the prices. Would definitely recommend. read more

the food was amazing and well priced. Homemade bread you can only get here because it was baked fresh. The prime rib (Queen portion; didn't say how many ounces) was grilled after cooking so it had some charring; adding to the delicious flavor. Two sides mixed veg and brown butter noodles. I also splurged and tried the pork rinds (Still snapping and popping well into my meal with their original sauce (a cheesy queso that reminded me of gravy) and also the homemade pumpkin pie and ice cream. Yum! Do yourselves a favor and eat here. (And invite me along!) The other piece that I loved is the updated interior of the restaurant and that the owner and his family was all there working and cooking. Family and locally owned makes such a huge difference! Honestly... if I could do 0 stars I would. I grew up locally and was excited to hear of a new place that was in the old Grabill Inn. My family and I went there for dinner for my brother's birthday and between the 7 of us... not a single one was pleased with anything. Service: the server was a teenager that clearly had no training and didn't care about working. We couldn't find her half the time. No refills on drinks, missing 2 sides from 2 orders, and when she brought the bill she asked "cash or card" (after we had to ask someone else roaming around the dining area to find our waitress). When my grandmother said she would pay cash, the waitress wasn't even going to give a receipt. As she was about to just say how much was owed for the bill we told her to print the receipt. Once she did... she stood at the end of the booth and waited while my grandmother counted out money to leave for the bill... I've never in my life see a server do that. My mind was absolutely blown on how rude she was being with impatience to get the money for the bill. She was probably the worst server I have ever had. (Understanding that lack of training was most likely a major factor in this, we still left her a decent tip) Food: Growing up in the area, good food isn't typically hard to come by. However, there was not a single edible item that got delivered to our table. Meat dishes were severely overcooked and dry, mashed potatoes tasted instant and not homemade (along with the gravy), French fries tasted like McDonald's fries that had been 3 days old, and whatever the brown butter noodles are.... I had to spit it out it was that bad. The disappointment was so great. I would have rather gone across the street and got food at Dairy Sweet. Unless this place trains their staff and gets a new cook... we will not be eating here again. read more

They had been open only a couple of weeks when we took our party of 10 there. We were seated in the southwest-most room. It could use some curtains or tapestries; it was so noisy that conversation was difficult. I had the glazed salmon. The portion was surprisingly small for $17. This did include two sides. I upgraded to the crab salad for an extra $2. It was good, but it consisted of artificial crab in chewy chunks having the consistency of Colby cheese. My other side was a "loaded" baked potato. It was honestly the smallest baked potato I had ever been served. They clearly didn't understand the term "loaded". It was very lightly sprinkled with shredded cheese and chives. NOT worth the $1 upgrade. I will give them another chance. read more

My experience at this restaurant is the reason I signed up for Yelp. We just moved to the area from out of state and I hate to say it, but this was truly the worst dining experience I have had in my 46 years. The service was slow and inattentive, we waited over an hour for fried food and one medium rare steak, and when we finally got our food it was cold...even though there were literally maybe 4 other tables in the whole place. And it's not like there weren't people working--there were two servers for our little area, and a throng of teenage boys (bussers? cooks?) hanging out in the area near the kitchen door watching those servers work but not doing anything else. On top of being cold, and slow, the food was just not good. The mashed potatoes were clearly the kind that come in a bag, the salad was rusty, the chicken fingers were bargain-rate frozen pieces of leather...it was just not great. The steak was cooked correctly, but the fact that it had been allowed to sit (maybe they took the concept of letting the meat "rest" a little too far) and get cold kind of negated that. The only time we actually got attention from the server was when they dropped off our check...then they were all about chit chatting and seeing if we needed anything. It is beautiful inside, we were impressed with the craftsmanship. The service was excellent and the food was very good. We had the ribeye with a medium sized baked potato, and salad; and the fish and chips with a salad. The beef was cooked perfectly, the fish was deep fried and the homemade tarter sauce was very good. The poppyseed dressing was also very good and we both enjoyed the house salads. Although we were very full, we had to try the homemade vanilla ice cream. Wow! read more

We were not impressed at all. We called ahead about the size of the prime rib we were told the "king cut" was a 16oz cut of meat. Clearly it was not. It looked pre made. The potato's were not baked. We were told it would be at least 10 minutes before they were finished. We ordered the fried pickles. They were really good. I ordered the fish platter. It was extremely greasy. We asked about pie. They only offered pumpkin and apple. As you can tell, we had a bad experience. The service was good but we probably will not go back. read more

Entering the establishment I noticed the distinct smell of horse manure, not uncommon in NE Indiana Amish country. Upon being seated in the back corner next to the kitchen (seems like new help abounded as dishes were being dropped frequently), we were informed by the "regular" waitress she was training a new waitress and asked that we give feedback on the new hire (the new hire was pretty much one her own and definitely clueless, most likely her first waitressing job. We were served fresh bread which was very good. The front of the building boast steak and seafood so one would expect some good food, not so much. I ordered surf and turf with a medium well steak. The side salad with poppy seed dressing was good, the lobster tail was what is to be expected in NE Indiana in September, the fries were horrible (they tell me they do not salt the food, rubbery worse than fast food fries), the steak was seriously undercooked and on the tough side for an aged Angus steak. The interior of the establishment was a serious echo chamber as noted with a screaming 2yo and 6yo. The rest of my party ordered steaks as well that were about 5/8" thick with what seemed to be a overly heavy layer of fat, not what one would expect for the prices listed. If the prices would have been what one would expect from a local cafe, then maybe I would not have been so underwhelmed and disappointed given the big bold signage on the front of the building boasting steaks and seafood. Good bread and salad, but that is where good stops for this person. read more

We went here since it is new and close to us. The food was good as was the service. The fresh pork rinds were definitely fun to be served as they still crackle when they are brought to the table. But there are no fresh vegetables served except a salad that has a lot of cheese and croutons on it. And no liquor license which is disappointing since I like a glass of wine with my seafood and steak. We may go there again with family, but it probably won't be a stop we make often. read more

Not really prime rib roast, more like processed chopped and formed mystery meat - no flavor, funny grill marks, super expensive. Sides were mostly frozen or out of a can judging by the lack of flavor and warmth. Kids in Amish clothes not more than 10 years old running around the tables, touching the silverware and putting it on the tables - a real germ factory. Loud talking from the kitchen area, curse words used, sad and unpleasant atmosphere. Run, do not walk, away from this very expensive train wreck. You have been warned. read more

The restaurant space has received a nice remodel. The waitress was very nice and efficient. The little loaf of bread brought out after ordering dinner was soft, warm and seasoned nicely. The food after that point was disappointing. Hubby ordered the rib eye medium rare. What we received was fairly thin steak that was over cooked without any seasoning. I ordered fried chicken and got a boneless check breast that was very close to dry. Disappointed with out dinners, we ordered desserts. I got a piece of chocolate cake that was maybe a 1/2 inch thick with a gummy "icing" between layers. The frosting on the outside wasn't great either. The total piece of cake measured 1/2 thick, maybe 2 1/2 by 3 inches deep, so pretty small for $5. Hubby got the cherry pie. While tasty it was on the small side as well. The ice cream was delicious. One star each for the waitress, atmosphere and bread. The meal was $48 without the tip included. We won't be back. The restaurant did not meet expectations. read more
