Unplanned lunch stop that ended up to be an excellent move. Seated immediately and attended to promptly. We chose the wedge salads (for each of us) and one "personal 12" pizza to share. Freshly cut "wedges" with crumbled bacon and tomatoes with Bleu cheese dressing for me (The honey asked for balsamic vinegar dressing instead). The pizza - very generously topped 12" pie - totally enough for the two of us! The service - superb! Efficient, polite and friendly - even though the place got quite busy after we came in. Had the chance to try both of Lost Dog's spots in the same day (not planned btw). While the menu is the same, the service was not as good as the Dennis location. We had to repeatedly ask for plates or napkins from the start. I had the crab cakes, which while good were heavy on the bread filler and lite on the crab - the remoulade had a nice kick. Tasty overall and a large portion I was disappointed in the nachos - unremarkable ground beef meat - no flavor or seasoning and was left in the oven too long - the chips were burnt. My family and I went to the Lost Dog Pub in Dennis, MA last night. Yes, it was very busy, but we were actually seated quickly, so we were off to a good start. Unfortunately, that was where the positives ended. The real problem came when my wife politely approached our waitress away from the table to request something very simple: that my father's meal be served piping hot. (He often complains about lukewarm food, and we were just trying to avoid an issue.) Instead of acknowledging the request professionally, the waitress literally put her hand in my wife's face and snapped that she would "get to the order when she got back to the table." The tone, the body language, the complete attitude of disgust--it was shocking. Restaurants live and die on customer service, and this was a textbook example of what not to do. Nobody should ever be dismissed like that, especially when making a respectful request. If this is how staff at Lost Dog Pub handle customers, it doesn't matter how fast the seating is or how decent the food might be--you've already lost the experience. If you want to feel valued as a guest, go literally anywhere else. read more

I loved the name of this place but the food was just okay. The plus side is they are open later than some other places around. The service was good! The bar area is a bit dark but it's a big restaurant. The drinks were delicious! read more

Whenever we come to Orleans we stop in for a bite and are always plesased. Definitely gives off a family pub vibe with updated tables in the lower dinning room. I had the burger and it was cooked perfectly and the fries were crispy with a pillowy soft center. Our servers were there when we needed them and always had a smile. read more

I was going out to eat at this place with my family who lives here in Cape who have told me good things. We get to the restaurant seeing a worker (my guess the boss of this place) yelling swears to her co-worker. In front of my children and others. If this is what the owner of this joint lets run her or his food business? Then I must know who they are so I can tell my friends and family not to come here. A work environment like that isn't good for business l. No matter what the circumstances were you never yell a your workers like that. Disgusted. read more

Just recently, my wife and I were blessed to find Carol was our server; and this veteran lass is always on the ball. After lemon waters (forgot to say: skip the straw), my wife sipped a hefty Appletini while I quenched my thirst with a luscious Italian Pinot Grigio. After a nice spell, one we requested, we ordered their tantalizing Shrimp Pizza; and in a world filled with pies, this one was a standout with its delicate crust, chunks of thick shrimp, and a splash of fresh diced tomatoes. A young lad dropped off Oregano and garlic powder, too. Then, we even shared a smooth Kolsch draft with our scrumptious slices and even had some to take home - along with Carol's kind words. We were in the area and decided to give the pub a try. It's a pub, and it looks exactly like a pub should look like, we sat in the clean dining room, enjoyed our cocktails, and ordered. I had the blackened snapper with (house made) mashed potatoes, and asparagus, and a mango salsa, I gave mine a five star for a pub, it's not fine dining. My dining partner gave her cheeseburger and fries a four star, she felt it was very salty, but tasty. Service was friendly and attentive, but not rushed. My husband and I order the Smokey mango margarita and dark Cherry old fashioned. Both drinks and the service were pretty terrible. Drinks were watered down. Decided not to order food on the account of the service and drink quality. The bill came with a $2 up charge for a "tall" margarita (which we didn't ask for). Also, watched the bartender make the margarita and it didn't fill the glass so she topped it off with soda water ..... Worst experience on our visit to the Cape. read more

We passed on Knack and Cookes to go to Lost Dog Pub. Maybe not next time. The cocktails were good; Black Cherry Old Fashioned and Tropical Sangria which seemed a bit light on alcohol. The special Seafood Stew was thick and with a decent amount of seafood but lacked a punch; sherry or spicy pepper. The sandwich my wife ordered, Scallop Nantucket wrap, came without swiss cheese, tartar sauce, a pickle or french fries as indicated on the menu. I ordered the Cape Cod Ivan, local Cod, swiss cheese, Russian dressing and Cole slaw was excellent! For dessert the Red, White and Blueberry bread pudding was good for the July 4th holiday. read more

Hmmm. We have been hitting this place several times every summer for 4 years and I was a bit disappointed this year. I always get the steamers and they were so full of beer and basil it was all I could taste. Good experience at Lost Dog pub. Waitress and hostess were extremely nice and helpful. Son had fish and chips and the fries took up the entire small plate and fish was piled on top, no room to cut or even eat the fish. The Calabrese was piled in a soup bowl so no room to cut up. The garlic bread was cut up on a huge dinner plate. It was all good, but nothing special. Just presentation was underwhelming. Place is kinda divey, but prices don't reflect that, especially for lunch. Not a bad experience, but could of been better overall. read more

Stopped for a late lunch at The Lost Dog. We put in our name and waited ~15 minutes for an outside table. Once seated we were quickly asked for our beverage order. 2 locally brewed kolches (devils purse) on tap came out very quickly. For lunch I had the corned Rueben sandwich with fries. It came out rather quickly, was nice and toasty, and grilled well on both sides (i.e. crispy and not soggy!!!). The corned beef was chopped a bit rather than sliced. I personally liked it as all the meat didn't pull out The fries were super crispy and good, I have to admit that I had both ketchup and mayo on the fries. Awesome!!! I can't say enough good about Lost Dog Pub. As a single woman I've always been made to feel welcome and comfortable and they bend over backwards to make everything right. Some things were good (steak tips) while others missed the mark (cheese on pizza, sides etc.). I was most disappointed by seafood combo platter. $22+ for two small pieces of cod, two shrimp, and four scallops. I expected more from the cape when it comes to seafood. I won't be back sadly. read more

What a cool spot. Service is a little slow but friendly. Staff seems to go out their way to take care of people. Food has been delicious on every occasion we've been here. My husband and I tried the Lost Dog Cafe last weekend and we really enjoyed it. The atmosphere felt like a pub for locals and the staff was friendly and welcoming. The menu had many items I would like to try which isn't usually the case for me. Lots of menus have only 1 or 2 things I'm interested in. But this night, we were both out for pizza. All their pizzas are 12" and there is plenty of toppings to choose from. We started with a Cesear Salad and it was yummy. We both really enjoyed our pizza and would definitely order it again. The dough tasted fresh and there were plenty of toppings on them. Wine prices were more reasonable than many places we've dined lately. That was a bonus! The Innkeeper's of the inn where we were staying recommended the Lost Dog, but we thought they meant the one in Orleans, it was actually the one in Dennis. We ate at both and they were both vastly different which is strange as the same owner has them both. We arrived and it took a few minutes for someone to come over and seat us in the restaurant as the bar was full. The food was mediocre, the Mac and Cheese was really flavorless. The cheese sauce was creamy but lacking a nice rich cheese flavor. The bathroom wasn't very clean and I always look at that as being representative of the restaurant.
