My boyfriend and I ate at this Yard location about a month ago. He had been to the Market Square location before and always said really great things about the restaurant and its food so we thought we would give the new location a go. We came on a Saturday around normal dinner hours so we knew it wouldn't be a big deal if we had to wait a bit for our food. The restaurant wasn't even packed and we waited almost 10 mins before anyone even greeted us or even acknowledged that we had been seated. Ive worked in food industry as a server and know that ignoring new customers is a no-no for sure. After ordering our drinks and food, we waited over an hour; our server coming back and saying our food "will be out in 5 mins" and "the grill is taking a long time" only to have 20 more mins go by. We both ordered grilled cheese, tater tots, and soup. When our food was finally served, we discovered that our grilled cheese sandwiches were cold (I ordered the pulled pork grilled cheese and the meat was cold) and the cheese had cooled down in that state where you can tell it had been sitting out for a while. Our tater tots were cold as well and we were certain our food had not just come off the grill like our server had kept telling us that it was the grills fault for the wait. The only thing warm was the soup. We ate almost everything (I couldn't really eat my sandwich because it was cold) because we were starving at this point having waited over an hour for food. Our server clearly was avoiding us after dropping the food off and definitely had a tone that expected us to nicely tell her that our food was cold. She brought over what she said was the "manager" or some sloppily dressed guy with a sideways baseball hat who just chuckled at our complaints and tossed a "free appetizer" card on our table saying "hey, it's free food." He did not listen to our complaints and said that since they opened the taco place next door they've been busy. Are they using the same kitchen for both restaurants? Who knows. Not a valid excuse in my book and very unprofessional the way that he handled it. Needless to say, we will not be coming back on a weekend; our free appetizer card is only valid mon-Thursday. But we won't even be coming back for that. read more

Went to The Yard for lunch today. I ordered a hamburger cooked medium well. When I got the burger it was basically raw. I think that the cook must have just walked it by the grill. I pointed it out to the waiter and he felt really bad and offered to get me another burger. I could not stay that long and so I just said that he didn't have to do that. He talked to the manager and they took something like 4.19 off from my bill. How he came up with that amount I'm not sure???? I won't hurry back! So disappointed because I had heard great things about this restaurant. read more

One of the worst dining experience. My wife ordered a plain chicken sandwich and had to send it back twice. First time, they sent hers to the "wrong" table. The second sandwich was wrong as well. At this point, we sent it back and asked for our check. The manager stopped by and apologized. Her fix was not charging us for the sandwich we never got and giving us a coupon for a free appetizer. After we got the check, we were so upset we went back to her and demanded a full refund. She begrudgingly gave us the refund. Needless to say, we will not be returning. Went here on a whim while visiting from out of town. . Had one of the grilled cheese sandwiches. Excellent, homemade chip outstanding. Friends had flatbread pulled pork, also very good. Would definately go back. read more

Been to most of the other locations so I had to come here. I came with a good size group of friends. We had no issue getting our food and drinks, they had all of our favorite grilled cheeses (love the Buffy the Mac Attack Slayer and Tots!!!), and the space was huge! Very nice atmosphere! Beer selection is very good. I understand they are still building on there selections...food prices average for other like establishment's....Stephanie was my server up at the bar, and she did an extremely good job. "Done with professionalism" also there is a taco restraunt with access from the bar...check out happy hour times as well... read more

Tonight was our third time visiting The Yard (2nd time at this location). Despite great experiences our first 2 times, after tonight we will probably never return. Server was fantastic. Not sure what happened, but ownership and management has made some very poor business decisions. Their fresh cut fries used to be phenomenal and well worth paying an up charge for, but those are long gone and have been replaced with frozen fries. The tomato soup was half-full & room temperature. It also tasted more like marinara sauce than tomato soup. Bummed because I really enjoyed The Yard but it's obvious management doesn't believe you need to spend money to make money. read more

The Yard is a great place to eat- the only issue for me is the prices. The yard is overpriced but does have some great dishes, for sure! I would rate it 5 stars if the menu was a bit cheaper. read more

We started off going to the sad side location for just drinks and a fun night, but then found out they actually have an excellent dinner menu. Food and beer selection= awesome and delicious. The atmosphere could be so much better. The lights were so bright they literally hurt my eyes. I felt like I was getting interrogated by the waitress when she asked me what I wanted to drink because it was so bright. The drink menu is the size of a social studies book from middle school. Way too big. Make it smaller so it actually fits on the table along with your food. I had to sit next to it the whole time because it wouldn't fit on our four top table when we all had food and drinks. read more

Sat down and waited for 30 minutes to be greeted, and there was barley even anyone eating here. Our waitress had time to have an in depth conversation with the group next to us but wouldn't even get us drinks. Once we finally got server our waitress wasn't sure what "rare, medium, and well done" means and came out with a burger that was still bleeding when I requested well done. Complete idiot staff, the one lady spent half an hour cleaning a menu and the free range silverware is absolutely disgusting. Would NOT recommend. read more

The food here is not bad and I'd love to experience many of the items that appear to be on the menu yet may tend to be more for appearance than epicurean intentions. Having eaten in such high scale locales like London to Toronto, San Francisco to Atlanta and many spots in Florida, I am not easily swayed by the appearance of what might attract me if it can't meet me half way and expose me to the natural offerings of this spot on the outskirts of the city. I may not be a novice to being a focal point of attention but the experience that I tend to create is something that may make even the spring fashion crowd quake like a thin willow in a hurricane, although "weepin"' is optional and more of a false reaction to make others feel my efforts are not satisfactory as nothing I bring to the table is by accident. read more

So the new thing is to call your place a Gastropub or a Public house and your golden. Come eat great food and have great drinks in a cool atmosphere. This place has a lot of beers on tap..... the first warning sign was calling yuengling beer a local. It used to be but now in the bud or doors class with national distribution, pricing and taste. Second warning sign is the interior. An empty area with walls spray painted with fake graffiti. Third warning sign was them bringing the wrong order for me and the correct order coming after everyone else done eating. The correct order was under cooked as in the grilled cheese was still white bread. The presentation and taste of the food was absolutely terrible. For a 11-12$ grilled cheese you better bring it. It looked like something I made while drunk at 2am on a whim. I will say the service was good and felt sorry for her and the other numerous staff as this places days are numbered. So, on my own at lunchtime again yesterday, I decided to try out The Yard, a new place in Robinson. As the torrential rain had just stopped, the front of the restaurant was open air, so I chose to sit there at the very front--but still covered in case the rain resumed. They do have a few tables actually outdoors as well for the al fresco minded. My server came fairly quickly with both food and beverage menus. The drink menu is quite large, lots of craft beers and wines, plus specialty cocktails. I opted for a plain old plebeian Miller Lite draft, a large one ( I'd just been rained and thundered out of the pool, after all!) which turned out to be VERY large. The food menu is just the front and back side of one page and features salads, burgers, and a HUGE section of artisanal grilled cheese with very intriguing toppings. In retrospect, I wish I had tried one of these, but I was in the mood for a burger. I ordered the Yard Burger, which, other than a small splat of garlic aioli, was a standard bacon cheeseburger. I ordered it medium well. The side offered is chips, which, house made or out of a bag, ought to be outlawed as a side, I feel. I mean a $12 burger is absurd to begin with, and for $12 you can't throw on a handful of fries?? But, since most people prefer something other than chips, that's an up charge that works out GREAT for the restaurant. I went with the upcharged fries. So, my server did okay with taking my order, but after that, she was clearly much, MUCH more interested in pleasing the table of 6 in front of me. I was a server at one long-ago point in my life, so, knowing just how hard that job is, I am a very good tipper--generally 50 percent at least. But when I'm mostly ignored in favor of other tables, I stick with 15 percent, and that's what I ended up doing in this case. Anyway, having ordered, I took a good look around the place. A good-sized space. Large U-shaped bar with brick surround, nice looking. Slightly industrial feel. MANY tables pretty crowded together-- I wouldn't suggest a sensitive discussion here, as neighboring tables are close enough to offer advice. Music just a bit too loud. Limited artwork. Okay, so my food came. I'd asked for no lettuce or tomatoes, just a lot of grilled onions, and their take was to toss on onion straws which were good, but what they were NOT was grilled onions. As previously noted, the garlic aioli was about nickel-sized, so I asked for extra. The burger, sadly, was WELL done, not the medium well I had requested. I didn't sent it back because unfortunately, if a place like this doesn't get it right the first time, they rarely do better subsequently. So, on the dry side, but the mayo I had to request twice helped. The fries were...fries. Absolutely nothing out of the ordinary. A little truffle oil or something would have been appreciated. Again, I think I would have been happier with one of the unique grilled cheese sandwiches, but, due to the mediocre experience I had, I'll likely not go back to try one. Between 508p-710p Jan 26. Multiple party. Asked about specific drinks was told you could get 1 spicy that the drink ordered was not normally. Ordered 1 spicy, 1 normal (not spicy). Received 2 spicy . So ordered another "normal"only to receive spicy. Switched order to double Tito Vodka with juice, received what tasted like (water downed) juice missing the Titos. Appetizer ordered with first drink order, after the 3 drink received the appetizer. At this point we asked if we could place a food order, never asked by waitress if we were ready. Our menus were down on table for quite awhile. Placed food order, 45 minutes later when waitress asked if we needed more drinks a member of our party was getting frustrated --asked when we could expect food, was told soon be here soon, within 5 minutes food arrived, only to receive partial order, had to ask our waitress about remaining order. First time here. Not impressed with service, bar tender and food service. Eat out often excited to try this new place, sorry to have this experience. I visited the yard for dinner on 1/20/2019. I immediately walked in excited to dine at this new location (North Fayette Robinson Location). I walked into the restaurant at 7:25 pm and was turned down to being seated because they told me they were closing the kitchen at 8pm. This came as a surprise because on their website it states that they are open until 10pm. When I asked for further explanation as to why they stated that they were closing due to an employee holiday party. I was confused because I had just checked the website and it said the kitchen did not close until 10pm on Sunday. When I asked about this the employees handled the situation so poorly and had absolutely terrible customer service. I have been to several of the other locations and have never had an experience like this. The manager did offer us a free drink at the bar but refused to serve us food. We were dissatisfied because we came to eat dinner on this night after going out of our way to choose this location. The manager did nothing else to compensate for closing the kitchen unannounced two and a half hours earlier than the website stated. I have never experienced such terrible customer service and terrible management that does not value loyal customers. I would not recommend this location. Spend your money somewhere else. read more
