This review is in regards to a brand new Fusion I bought last week. I initially dealt with Susan just over the phone, then went in for a test drive and to talk numbers with Matthew Chis. Once we had figured out what worked for my budget, I needed some time to sell my car. Well, once that was done, the car we had picked out was no longer available, so I started looking around at other dealerships. Found one! Cerritos Ford puts it "on hold" for me while my brother drives me 40 minutes in traffic to go buy it. Walk in the door, and am told that its actually one of the manager's "Demo" cars, and she is not willing to give it up. Wow. Thank you for confirming multiple times, by the VIN number no less, that this car is available, only to be LYING to me! Of course, they DID have a more expensive car available - or I could wait a few days for them to get another one in... Needless to say, when I left empty handed, I was pretty mad. This will result in a negative review for Cerritos Ford, but is directly related to why I bought my car at Theodore Robins... after calling in to a few other dealerships around OC, and feeling like I am getting nothing but lies and slick sales pitches, I called my bank to have them increase my loan, and went back to buy a Fusion at TR Ford (even though it was well above my original budget) based solely on the principle that this was the only dealership that didn't treat me like a half-wit, and did not lie to me, and therefore were the ones I wanted to get my money. When I went back, Matthew was out for the day, so I dealt with JP who was just awesome. He took the time to teach me EVERYTHING about my new car, and even called me the next day when he realized that he forgot something. Not too many would do that. I am very happy with the car I wound up with, this transaction as a whole, and the level of service I received. Thanks guys! read more

This surprised me as it is not the first thing that pops into your head when you think of Auto sales associates. Brought my 2015 Titanium Edge in for its first service and two warranty items. The service was free (YES!) and both warranty items were taken care of without any hassles. One warranty item was Hood Ajar light/buzzer going off when I hit bumps or banged the steering wheel. The problem was a crappy CAAR alarm installation by the guy who installed it at my home. Fixed! I also had a rear tail light that leaked and got moisture. They ordered the part, and two days later had it installed, again with no hassle at all. How refreshing is that! read more

I'm 20 years old, and I was looking for a brand-new car. At all of the other dealerships I went to, people would walk away as soon as I said that I wasn't getting my license until next week. Then I went to This dealership, and was immediately helped by a man named Brian. Over the course of the next couple of days Brian must've spent at least eight hours helping us to find the perfect car. He knew everything about every vehicle, didn't push us towards anyone in particular, and shared honest opinions about the deficiencies of some of his own vehicles. He is one of the single most helpful individuals I have ever met. Eventually we did end up buying a jeep due to my mothers preference for that brand, but when Bryan found out that we had not purchased from his dealership, despite his many hours of help, he didn't ask us for anything or make us feel the slightest bit guilty for wasting his time. If you are in the market for a new car, you need to hook up with Chris. I had very specific requirements for my new ride and he was able to locate the vehicle and picked it up on his day off and met me at the dealership to ensure everything went well. He was able to provide an out the door quote via email and the attention to detail and follow up was ridiculous. If he was older, I would try and hook up this kid with my sister. He was also able to provide the best financing options and run down on rebates that landed me the best deal. I was not SOLD a car...I was given the best consultation on tue purchase. I will make it short they stink! $60,000 + car and under a year the stitching in the seats were coming apart. The service advisor said he talked to the service manager and said it considered normal wear and tear. Went to another Ford dealer and they repaired it no problem. Evidently Ford is such a tight wad company they make the dealer fill out special paperwork to get upholstery approved and Theodore Ford was to lazy to do this. Also had a problem where they had to take the rear end differential apart to repair. Was in the shop for three weeks before repairs completed. After receiving car back finally had all the rear end grease run out on my driveway. Had towed in to another dealer. They found rear end bolts not tightened after repairs. Poorly run from the top manager down. Go somewhere else. I found out the hard way!!! read more

I had a clunky sound, and they tried to recreate it, but couldn't, but the mechanic said that he checked everything out and tightened all the bolts, when he drove around with me to try and recreate the clunky noise. Pete the Service guy and the mechanic, said that they will check again if it continues. I appreciated the time and help for my concerns. I was convinced that they checked everything in reference to my safety. So only time will tell, and I know I can always call them. They even washed my car, cool...... read more

Bought my truck here in July 2014 and have taken it into the service department several times for routine maintenance. I've had no problems scheduling-wise, and they've gotten to the vehicle and had it ready for me well within their estimated time frames. The new customer lounge is great; the old one was a bit tacky but they redid the building and the new facility is really 1st rate. The service team started with Andrew and he was very helpful getting me started explaining the quote etc. There were some unknowns that popped up after I left. He explained them and I said I would contact him in the morning. Andrew would not be in but Minh would take over. He went above, beyond,and completely researched the situation coming back to me with amazing news that all the check engine issues were covered under the emissions warranty! Absolutely the best news I've had in eons! I have almost 100,000 miles on the 2003 Focus and don't put a lot of hard miles on it, but I really want to maintain it. I've never had anything go wrong. I know it's critical at this juncture to follow the maintenance needs. Minh explained everything thoroughly and I never felt the least bit like I was being misled. The entire bill even came in under the original quote! Unbelievable! I will be back for the fluids and anything else. It was the best service and a very positive experience. Can't say enough. My van has been here for 9 weeks!! Since Feb 28. Still not done. Too much to say, but here's the short story. They either blew my motor up or it was not good when I brought it in. But why would they put parts on a blown motor? It was running when I brought it in, rough, but running. It sat for a week after they told me it needed a new motor. I asked when they told me, how much will a new motor cost. They said "$12-$13,000, as much as $15,000 with the work already done". New parts on a motor that was to be replaced? Then my service guy went out on medical leave, bummer. New guy wasn't into getting my car done, even told me it wasn't his job in the beginning, so he had other cars to do. Needs to get out of service work. They pulled my motor on Mar 26, new guy calls and says its going to cost $21,600.00. I asked why so much more, he didn't have an answer. Service manager didn't return my call after I left a message on his voice mail, so I called him the next day, said he didn't get my message. I explained what's up. He said he would talk to the first guy and get back with me. That was around Mar 27. Still have not heard from him. I called the General manager, that was on about April 26. Haven't heard from him either! Can you see a pattern here? Can't get mad at the service guy for not calling because his boss doesn't return calls, and his boss the general manager doesn't return calls either! Service dept doesn't do service, they may as well serve peanuts. I was offered a loaner truck on a Friday afternoon when I went in to try to figure out what was up, thought I had a good guy, actually seemed to sympathize with me on how long it had been, probably told me that to get me gone, it never happened. The mechanics, who I don't have a problem with, or the parts dept, kept getting told to work on other cars, put mine aside. I left the names out on this one, but stay tuned!! I recently also had a bad experience with the service dept. I called and made an appointment for an oil change. Not sure how I they assigned a customer service representative but the morning I came in at 7am, the assigned agent was late to work. They would not help me, I had to wait for his counterpart who was busy with another customer. The other representatives helped the people who came after me. I made an appointment so I would think any of them can check my car in. I have no loyalty to the customer service agent. It's not my fault he can't get to work on time. I waited for my car which they said would take an hour and took 2 hours. I finally went to check on my car and it was sitting up front ready to go but they never told me it was ready. I had to follow up with them as to the status of my car. I needed a bunch of repairs and took it to a private mechanic because the customer service was horrible. read more

I hate leaving these. I really do. But this guy deserves it. I went in to this place on this past 4th of July weekend. I wanted a new explorer. My salesman was Zack or Zach. I have never had such a disinterested salesman in my life. Didn't even look me in the eyes. This guy tried to get me to put a ridiculous down payment on the vehicle FOR A LEASE! Also this place ran my credit 8 times! That's 8 hard inquiries on my credit score. He kept trying to push the ford flex on me which I had no interest in getting. 10K down on a lease is unheard of. My credit score is low 700s not low 500s!! Also I had trouble getting the car anywhere else because of what they did to my credit application. This place is one of the most sleazy and dishonest dealerships I have ever been to. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME! Stay away from Zack or Zach or wherever you call that wanna be backstreet boy! I recently got a new job and have a car allowance of 500 dollars and live nearby so I thought I should come through and look at a Ford Fusion, My Honda Accord is getting up there in miles and I will be ready to buy soon but obviously today. Felix took one look at me and saw a person he didn't think could afford a new car which is not true. I had to consistently ask him to explain features me and he took me on the shortest test drive ever, and didn't really know anything or care to explain the differences between modes. I looked at a fusion with 52k miles, I was hoping to get one with 30k but I otherwise liked the car, so I asked how much it would cost to et one with less miles and he responded with "more" and didn't elaborate on his answer. I asked to get a quote for my Honda and he said he needed to get the used car manager to give me a quote. The used car manager didn't come out to see my car, just Felix who told me I couldn't get a quote or a ballpark number unless I would commit to buying a car today. I don't know what I did to make Felix think I wasn't worth his time, but I make a solid salary, get a car allowance and have a soft spot for ford. However after today my wife will get her wish and il head over to the Audi dealership, maybe I need to upgrade my car choice to get decent service. I really don't know how this could've been a worse experience. read more

Well, the body shop, and service provided by Hank Beach is a perfect 5 stars. The service department is more like a 0. For the positive, my neighbor backed into our Navigator. Took it to Ford and Hank handled. He's a pro. Tremendous communicator. Clearly a seasoned expert at this craft. He had to put up with a lot of bs from the neighbor's insurance company who low balled the estimate and recommened subpar/incomplete repairs. I got a second opinion from my own insurance company's body shop and nearly mirrored Hank's. Unfortunately, for whatever reason, I can't convince the neighbor's carrier (USSA--beware if you're hit by one of its insureds) to pay even 50% of Ford's estimate. So now, it looks like I'm going through my own insurance company. I still may get the car repaired at Ford, and only because I feel I owe it to Hank who spent a great deal of time with me, our car, and dealing with unreasonable USSA. Regarding the service department, I would say "beware" when you take your car there. For example (and I have more to say but am not) they try to charge you oppressive diagnosis fees (like $125 to inspect a seat latch issue that is open and obvious to even a layperson) if you choose not to get the issue repaired through Ford--and not clearly explained in advance as they will allege after fact. And the rental car set up over there really stinks frankly. Ford uses Enterprise (who if I had the time I would smack them with a 1 star) but it's Ford who insists its customers use this Enterprise. The way that works, and it's happened more than once, and won't happen again b/c I'm done with both Ford and Enterprise, is that you get picked up from the dealership (and not always in timely fashion) and then it's like a lottery ticket drawing when you get to Enterprise as to whether they actually have a car (not the car you want, but any car) for you to rent. My wife had to wait hours to get a car....and it was a small sedan and costs $50/day. Really, this is the best Ford can do on a rental car place and charges when you are already overpaying to get work done at their dealership? I'm actually being a lot nicer than I should be...I have some other things I do not care for and that I thought were shady at a minimum....just beware and get a second opinion if an expensive proposed repair. Use Yelp for a trusted repair shop...wish I did years ago. read more

We made an appointment to have our 2010 Ford Fusion serviced on Tuesday Oct 13 at 8:00 am. The front end had been making "rumbling" sounds on acceleration. My husband called in the afternoon, and Pete Ferra told us that they had been unable to find the problem as yet. The next day, we called again in the afternoon, and were told they still couldn't find the problem, and had asked "Ford" for help. I called later and left a message that we needed to know how long this was going to take, I would need to get a rental car, etc. No call back. I had an "online chat" with Jim Ceja who told me that Bruce the service manager would call me in the morning. We went in at 7:00 am on Thursday to pick up our car. [Bruce never called us] Miraculously they were able to diagnose the problem late the night before. It was the right front axle (worn down) and the center shaft. It would be $1,000 for the axle and $124 for the shaft. Not all the parts were in stock. We couldn't get the car right away, because the service guys don't get in until 8, and Pete didn't know what status the car was in. We told them to go ahead with the work, and walked across the street to rent a car. No call again on Thursday, but Pete called Friday PM to say I have good news and bad news. He said it would be cheaper than quoted, because it was the motor mounts & a broken bolt and not the front axle. He said the car would be ready on Saturday. When I had googled "Ford Fusion rumbling sound in the front end", motor mounts came up as likely cause. Hard to believe it took them that long to discover it. I don't think they really worked on it until Friday. I have loved my Fusion, and had a good experience buying it from Nicole, but this service incident was terrible. read more

I bought my car here - as a NEW 2007 mustang in 11/07 - and purchased the pre-paid maintenance package (which includes oil changes, tire rotations, fluid checks, etc). When I bought it, the car came with custom 20" chrome rims & tires - which I paid extra for (originally they tried to charge 4k but got them down to 2k for them). Anyways, I took the car back every 5k miles to get service. What I didnt know - and what they should have told me - is that you CANT rotate the tires from front to back, as the rear tires are much larger than the front ones. The service department of course didnt know this, and rotated the tires from front to back, on 2 separate occasions, which caused the tires to wear VERY quickly & become unusable after only a few weeks. Long story short, I had to buy new tires on 2 separate occasions because of THEIR idiocy. When this happened the last time and I showed them the damage that the improper rotation caused, they didn't accept blame and instead said it was because of my "alignment", and said that while yes they made a mistake, there is no way their error could have caused that kind of tire wear. I since got the alignment checked @ Sears and they said it was fine and called the Ford guys idiots. Im just mad because (a) they sold me the car & the tires from the beginning - its not like I got a custom job after buying it, and (b) they F#ked up 2 times on the rotation and caused me to buy all new tires, and (c) refused to accept blame for it. They also charged $150 to swap out the battery which should have cost 1/2 of that anywhere else. I'm scared to death on what would happen if I actually have an engine problem after the warranty expires. I just get the feeling that they rip you off, have a bunch of monkeys working in the back, and that you cant trust them. I will 100% not be buying a car there again, and 100% am finding a new mechanic / service department after the warranty expires. Do not trust these guys. Trust me on this. read more

I own a 2012 focus and the transmission seemed to be jerking around while driving so I decided to bring it to TR to get it checked out. I didn't make an appointment but when I arrived I was greeted by Pete in the service department, he informed me that the issue may be normal but better to have the mechanic check it out. To my surprise he called to mechanic up to talk to me and after a short conversation he offered to go for a quick spin with me. During our drive he explained that my particular model did have some issues with the transmission but he would need a couple of hours to check it out. He was very helpful in helping me understand this part of my car and how it operates. I opted to wait while he checked it out further. After about an hour they found a problem and ordered parts that were backordered . I got my car back, and a few weeks later was called to set up an appointment. Brought my car back in and after about a day and a half, my car was fixed and I was on my way. Couldn't be happier, my car works great and was very satisfied with my service read more

Very poor after the sale service and follow up. During the sale process I had a verbal offer to trade in my existing lease and move into a new one with them. The salesman left the company and I had to start all over and they would not honor, at least initially, the prices that he quoted. After that whole debacle we managed to close the deal. Since then however I have reached out to them by email and phone with some simple questions about functionality of the vehicle as well as a deferred payment plan which they said was part of the promotional offer with the vehicle but apparently was not true since I received my first bill two weeks after taking delivery. Finally, I was billed for excess mileage on the last vehicle although once again I was told by the original salesman that a trade-in was not subject to overage miles penalty. I guess this is why it's always said that you don't become a repeat customer anywhere. Move from dealer to dealer with every purchase. read more

We had an appointment to meet with Miguel Arrela, and let me tell you he did not disappoint. Talk about the art of customer service. He was personable, genuine, knowledgeable and I could tell that he really enjoyed his job. He had two other gentlemen helping him that evening, Luis and Felix, that were also just as great. I can't believe how much they know about Ford's cars. We fell in love with the dealership and back in love with Ford. Needless to say, we not only bought one car, we bought two! These guys are fantastic and their customer service is 2nd to none. I called their finance office and spoke to John in the morning to check on a warranty that another dealer was trying to sell me that I had questions on. John took a lot of time going over the car I was going to purchase at another dealer and gave me detailed info on that particular car. I went to the credit union to get a check for the other car and while there discovered that the Ford dealer I was working with were totally unethical and had sold the care I was buying. What a mess. Not know what steps to take next and really needing to get into another car I called John back and asked for help. He connected me to Alec who was one of the best salespeople I have ever had the pleasure to work with. He showed me a car that was almost exactly the exact car I was looking for. The offer and counter offer took a total of around 5 minutes and we mutually arrived at a price we could both live with. I gave him a check to hold the car and made an appointment to return with my wife later. We purchased the car and they tied into our approval at our credit union and the complete process was totally painless and conducted exactly the fashion we have all dreamed of for years. I cannot begin to express how pleased we both were at the professionalism and courtesy everyone we dealt with afforded us. I will gladly endorse these people to anyone who is tired of the nightmare of dealing with most car dealers. Normally I bring my f-150 to another Ford dealer for service, but thought I would try Theodore Robins since they are closer to my house. I wanted an oil change and for them to check a problem that my other dealer didn't seem to correct on a previous visit. Although an official Ford Dealer, Theodore Robins was going to charge over $100 just to diagnose the problem that I supposedly had fixed at the other Ford Dealer. They wouldn't even support the the 12,000 mile guarantee on service/repairs. Needless to say, I had my trucked pulled out of there immediately and went back to my old dealer. They re-checked the problem and fixed it no questions asked per the 12,000 service/repair guarantee. Apparently Theodore Robins Service dept needs a little sales 101. Had they took care of me on my first visit I would most likely had been a customer for life. Instead I am willing to drive 15 extra miles past Theodore Robins to get my truck serviced some place else. read more

they told me i had a 1,000 dollars in repairs and that my car was in bad condition. i took it to a family friend who is an experienced mechanic, guess what... nothing was wrong with my car. it makes me wander how many times they've swindled me out of my money. shame on you people. read more

This dealership is horrible. I came into buy a 2011 Ford Edge, I have been doing my homework and knew exactly what I wanted. I came in and met Victor, nice guy. Out of my whole experience with this dealership he was the only redeeming quality. I had previously been to South Bay Ford in Redondo and they had something close a 2012 but no sunroof but it was a limited instead of the SEL I was looking at Theodore Robins. Victor and I did our dance and finally came up with numbers we both could live with. I waited a few minutes and mind you it was Mother's day, and I was the only one in there. Victor calls me over to the two people that sit at the desk, I guess there in charge of running the numbers. I kept telling them I was pre-approved with ford and was approved for a 3.9% rate on this particular car. This gal I think her name is Mary says I was declined with ford and that I would need a co-signer. She says this in front of the whole sales team that is just standing around on the floor right in front of her desk. I said how can that be I was given a 3.9% rate and pre-approved. She says "you should go buy a car at South Bay Ford then" after being completely humiliated in front of everyone, I walk out and leave. I was so upset that now I'm second guessing myself so I drive right over to South Bay Ford, its really busy, but a gal name Lily approaches me, I tell her my story and she goes and checks on my previous paperwork. Thank you South Bay Ford I was right in fact I bought that day a 2012 Ford Edge limited for a better price than the 2011 SEL that Theodore Robins wanted to sell me and no I didn't need a co-signer and yes I got my interest rate. I would caution anyone to deal with this dealership, but do your homework first know your credit score and get pre-approved before hand, so people like Mary that don't know how to do there job can be proven wrong. In fact today is Tuesday and they just called to ask me how they could get me into the car I wanted at there dealership. Of course I told them I would never buy anything from them.
